For the current ease of getting relics and upgrading them, while it could still happen, I doubt they will get to that level so easily.

The people that visit the forums, and actually post is a pretty small fraction of those that actually play the game, so if you read that 20 are quitting that doesn't mean much in the big picture. If you think about their subscription models, you get discounts for paying in 3,6 or 12 month increments, and a lot of people do that, guess what gets released in 3 month increments, that's right content patches lots of MMO's have done this because people are usually willing to pay just one more time to see if this content is redeeming, if not I'm gone kind of thing but by the time it comes to drop their sub, another patch if just around the corner. I say if you don't like it, then unsub, loosing money means more to them than negative forum posts, but I seriously doubt a single questline will cause enough loss in subscriptions to make anyone take notice.
Working as intended? Who can tell but the developers?
Working as expected? Seems more accurate to their previous statement regarding how many players would be prepared for the Novus quests come patch time.
And for those of you saying that the Animus/Novus quest weapons are only for the "grinders" and "no lifers", consider it a commitment rather than a requirement. I for one will be incredibly happy I was committed to keeping up with the quests for the (hopefully) wonderful reward at the end of the line.
then get your friends and speed Brayflox hm? it takes what, 10 mins for one run? So 1 hr nets you about 300 myth and you are about on par with my estimation, got it done faster, and got to play with friends.... hell 2 hrs of that is 600 and that is more than what I estimated. 3 runs of CT with your friends is 300.
There is no excuse. There are many ways to get myth in a timely and reasonable fashion.
I'm just saying, for most casual players I know they use the roulette. Here are some numbers:
you can earn: 290-315 myth a day assuming youve unlocked all roulettes and capped solidary. or its 340-365 if you didnt cap solidary and doing expert roulette. +15-46 extra myth a day if you are doing your daily beast tribe quest as well (46 is only if you do 1 low 3 mid and 2 top dailys and ignore going 3 mid and 3 top as 1 top gives 7? solidary). 2-4 hrs max depending on all your teams speed and success.
So after running all of your dailys, if you do 2-4 speed runs of bray then youd be ~500ish a day. So a book in 3 days which is faster than originally stated. 4-5 days if you dont run Bray afterwards or do 3ish dailys a day.
Still can farm the same amount faster in bray. but these are options.
Also, that being said, I dont feel that animus books need a change on price. Atma is the only thing that needs a drop chance increase, and that is only slight increase not a game breaking one.
then what is a 3 hr gamer? hard core? I feel this is average. To me, I believe that 3 hrs a day is a good average for a casual player to work on gear progression and learning/downing content at a reasonable rate.
May I suggest to try to put all of your chances on your side, like using the Zenith Shield instead of the Allagan that you are wearing now? I've had luck with the Japanese theory, others didn't. You do 5 fates in one map, not working? move to another one. (I got all of them soloing (except one) and sometimes with my Choco.)
It's not for everyone. Those who want it, will put time to it, just like your time you got into Coil, for that Allagan gear.
I knew I couldnt make it to the EM primals, getting T4 for now. So for me it was a viable option. And it gave my FC incentive to do it, as they saw for themselves that if I did it, anyone can! :) /cheer
My GF gave up on it, for now ^^
Side note: Happy to see that Montrealers are on other servers, let's spread the love! ^^
You can get at a minimum 425 Myth per day doing DF roulettes and beastmen dailies. Assuming you can only manage to get that done, that's 4 days to get a book (with tomes left over.) You can easily bang out a book a week if you put a small amount of effort in.
Yea, Animus is an investment in time. Sorry it cannot simply be handed to you for doing a short questline, which sounds like that is what you want. There is Titan and Coil for you then to upgrade your weapon.
Yoshi spelled this out very carefuly before people, he said the options were either weekly lockouts, or an absurdly low drop rate, and people still whined about weekly lockouts.
So guess what Yoshi had the devs do?
I saw this coming miles away, good thing I made enough popcorn.
You can not do roulette, run Brayflox HM w/ friends and get 300 tomes in 2 hours without even speedrunning or speedrun and do it in 1 hour. Whether X amount of time makes one casual or not casual is irrelevant. If you're casual, you don't need an Animus weapon in a day. Of course, you seem to define casual purely by time spent which might be one way to look at it. I play more than 3 hours a day and still consider myself casual because of all the non-progression content I do (crafting/gathering/treasure hunting, etc. etc.) SE needs to find a balance. A lot of people are complaining so maybe it IS too much. On the other hand, before 2.2 people were complaining there was nothing to do. I'd rather have too much to do than not enough but I guess that's just me...
But at least coil will drop something useful to someone in your group. Well, possibly. Grinding T4 and T2 for tank/caster drops got quite a few pieces for my other jobs. Grinding FATEs bring nothing but sadness and desperation to many grinding ATMA for the 10th hour and beyond.
Your sig is VERY ironic right now.
I never agreed with it. But when you talk about coil vs FATE RNG, I felt the need to remind that despite that both have RNG determining drops, there is a difference between a guarantee drop system vs all or nothing.
As 2.25 drops during the week that coil echo was stated to increase. I wouldnt be surprised if 2.28 drops when the next level of echo for coil is scheduled XD. 3 weeks?
What I don't understand is the people who are still doing it slow..are going to still do it slow regardless of when Novus comes out. So the only people getting held back are people who completed Animus. I really don't care what anyone says. I go to class 20 hours a week, clinical 20 hours a week, and study for 10 - 20 hours. Was the grind fun... not really. But completing felt great. You either want to devote the time or you don't. But as usual if enough entitled people complain about how hard it is, how un-fun it is, they will make if more fun, which is also known as easy. The nicest things in mmo's across the board came at the cost of sweat and pain and quite a bit of RNG.
yep I read that bit as "Novus upgrades delayed due to low Anima drop rates."
So fun = easy now?
The grind wasn't fun, even you admit it and now you're saying people are entitled because they're calling out things that aren't fun? Or are you saying you like doing things that aren't fun (but wouldn't that make it fun if you like doing it, wut?)
Are you confusing a timing consuming, mind numbing activity as hard?
Time consuming and Hard are the same thing. People have constantly as of late been trying to seperate the two. Regardless if it takes 60 hours to down Turn 9 for loot or farm myth for 60 hours for Animus, they both require 60 hards and are more difficult then something that takes 30 minutes minute to complete. The grind is already inherently more easy as it doesn't require to rely on the competency of 7 other players, just your persistence in completing it.
Everyone says they don't want it to be a grind, but they want it to be difficult. Attach it to a primal? So it can be bought...attach it to a coil turn? Coil already as weapons of similar level and ability. The myth grind is fine, the atma grind is fine. I didn't say it was fun but I sure as heck felt a lot of accomplishment when it was done. SE set a bad precedent with the original relic quest line and ease of completion. Without a grind to always create a generic time table people will over gear content (Titan HM) and people will have them for every job, which in my opinion you shouldn't be able to 9/9 in a month.
My problem with this quest is a lot of work for item 100 that is not even best in slot. I have the weapon i was looking foward to the quest to expand today with this patch. The quest is difficult a true grind and i was looking foward for more so it can at least match 110 weapons with it. I wish i did not have to wait much more to work on it.
Weapon damage is king and everything else is incredibly secondary. ilevel is not always bigger = better, when it comes to crafted gear. Weapons however it certainly is the case, putting stock in secondary stats is important but not that important.
I'm going to continue doing this until I sound like a broken record but people are never going to stop over-inflating their expectations for relic weapon upgrades huh? Pre-2.2 people were like "it's going to be on par with high allagan" and they were let down, before today people were going "it's going to be i110 at 2.25" and were once again let down. But here people are again, saying without any evidence it's going to be a 10 ilevel upgrade in 2.28. It feels like wishful thinking not a thoughtful prediction.
SE should just mail us the materials for upgrading to Novus for free if we have been subscribing to the game for at least 3 months. We pay the same monthly fee to access the game, why should others who simply make more effort get a better item than me? = @
just a point, tomorrow, with the patch, the speedrun of Brayflox is gone. they have said it that they will work a way for avoid this. like they have done it with AK at that time, remember?.
Of course many of the expected replys, let me help you out-
