With airships and chocobos take away teleporting!

Here is what so few people realise...
NOT EVERYONE PLAYS THE SAME GAME FOR THE SAME REASONS

(not angry making it noticable)

I like the aether porting. It adds a bit of fantasy to the "unfantasy game"
really why complain about aether teleporting when you can just walk.

Also SE did say chocobo are more then just our mounts AND A BIT OF AN FYI AIRSHIPS AND CHOCOBO. do still take time. chocobo only was 10% faster then walking in ff11. And that game has a ton of ways to fast travel, no one in that game complains about it. They made the teleports for those who are casual but also to make is less time to travel to the camps.

Guss none of ya played ff11 before all the quick teleports. it would take people 1hr to get to their party sometimes basing on where in vanadiel they are. And this wasted the party time. Even with a chocobo it still sucked. I've had cases of getting invites but "take to long" getting to the party and just as I was about to zone into the zone the group was only to be un invited.

Why even complain when it would have been added sooner or later? ffxi got 1 chocobo 2 teleport for a whm (unless their on strike) 3 out post warp. warp from black mage (unless on strike) 4 warp scroll, 5warp club, 7teleport earings, 8gear with teleport/warping abilities.

If you do not enjoy the aether porting. Just do not do it. But stop complaining and asking for it to be removed. Stop crying over how other peiople enjoy the game. Or play it. It kinda petty bs at this point.

Some sort of nerf is due for Anima warps, but not complete removal or oddball restrictions.

I personally think, as others have mentioned, that transportation is too convenient. I'm not quite sure I understand the need for either chocobos or airships considering just how easy it is. At this point, I think players have been spoiled and rely on anima too much. This is getting somewhat sidetracked, but there are players that will transport to Camp Black Brush from Ul'dah, which only takes a minute or two to run to. I'm not against completely removing the system and would much rather suggest, as others have said once again, to simply remove some of the aetherytes. If it were up to me, I would start by removing the ones from the dungeons, such as the ones in the Mun-Tuy Cellars, Nanawa Mines, and Mistbeard Cove.

Concerning the leve system, I understand you need the aetherytes to activate them, so by removing them I mean being unable to teleport to them via the aetherytes located in the different camps.

read what i said since you kinda need some food for thought

once this game gets off the ground and people want to party more. You will need the fastest ways to get to the camps. The less time you need to travel the less time your group waits. Get it?

Guy seriously start using them smart brains you keep claiming you have.

no one wants to wait more then 15 min for a person to get to their group. The more time you wait less time people have to party. Like i said SE had to add a ton of teleporting in ffxi, since people want to fight more then wait. Having to wait 15min-1hr for the last 2 people for party is a drag, more so when people leave because of the wait. If you guys do not like porting do not use it. But do not cry if/when this game gets group focused leveling in parties killing mobs, and you keep getting replaced for taking to long.

SE did good by thinking ahead and puttin the aether system. It can be imprived to be much more funner to use. But keeping it will be a good thing in the long run.
No nerf needed. Stop draging everyone down because of you need to walk slow. :)

Maybe, but teleportation still fits in since chocobos and airships = transportation to places that are no where near an aetheryte. Casual or not, there are always going to be places out of reach of normal crystal teleportation.

Anima seems like a system that was made for the devs to bug-test the game but it was left in because it was the easy way out.

Man, I really hope they don't cut back on anima. I -- and I think the vast majority of players -- enjoy the "battle/crafting/gathering" parts of the game much more than the "traveling to the place where I can battle/craft/gather" parts of the game. If I want a marathon simulator, I'll stick to QWOP. :)

With current anima regen rates, you can travel to two camps for leves, and then back to your home city. That's all your anima for the day. That leaves no anima for travel to a third camp for leves, NMs, other cities to check the market wards, side quests, job quests, or main storyline quests. (Was it the rank 34 quest that requires you to go from Uldah to Gridania through Thanalan/Coerthas to Mor Dhona, then back through Thanalan/Coerthas to Gridania, and back to Uldah? Ugh.) If you actually play the game with any regularity, it's not nearly enough.

And now we're going to have to travel to different cities for different leves, travel to different quest hubs for quests, travel to different areas for dungeons, etc. If they're going to start forcing us to spread throughout the world, then they need to increase the ability to travel quickly.

You folks are free to set and follow whatever restrictions you want. If you don't like teleporting, then you should enjoy the journey. But I can assure you that restricting anima is not going to increase my enjoyment of the game. And considering how many people I know who already complain about the lack of anima, I have a feeling most people actually playing the game feel the same way.

I know, right? CoD would be a much more popular game if you had to run for 45 minutes before you could use your gun. FFXIV should totally not let players get right into the action, or else it will end up a pile of fail, just like CoD.

In fact, why is SE spending all this time developing more content? The game had all the content it needed at release. I mean, we can already run laps from one side of Eorzea to the other. And that's what real adventure is all about, right? Running? Dodging mobs? Look out for that cliff wall! Excitement!

We get it. You don't like teleporting (and you think caps lock and exclamation points are effective arguments). But how does it hurt your enjoyment of the game if other people teleport? Why do you want to take away my ability to teleport?

I'd like to see teleporting be limited to special locations. (Like at an aetheryte or save points, etc.)

I don't care if these teleporting points are virtually everywhere, by not allowing me to teleport depending on where I am it will actually give my location in the world a sense of importance.

Make it so you cant teleport there it you never been there before. Having someone teleporting to a area you never walked to.

Its just better to have player or players heading to a Aeth just to unlock teleporting access to that location. It can be a hassle sometimes when trying to make a group but its gives everyone something to do.

I'm sorry, and I mean no disrespect to anyone's thoughts or feelings towards something in the game, but asking them or even suggesting on here to take away teleportation is.... (and saying this very nicely) not a very wise thing to bring up.

Having any player, of any class, being able to teleport to locations is one of the best improvements this game has made since FF XI. The only flaw to it is that there are no other options what so ever for modes of travel (at the moment), which leaves players hating on the anima cost for travel, which is perfectly understandable.

With Chocobos it shouldn't be a mandatory mode of travel, it should be your choice if you want to enjoy the bird ride and the scenery. Accessing areas with high levels of aggro safely on your mounts back. With Airship you can enjoy the skies and the land below. If anything should change with the teleportation system, it should make anima costs much cheaper, earn anima back faster, and returns zero (like they mentioned).

But for players who don't play as much or are in a rush, teleportation for every player is an excellent idea and should be commended. Please don't give them any bad ideas... Especially when we're finally about to make some serious progress on improving this game for the masses. >___<;

There is lore behind the anima unlike ffxi where most of the crystals were part of a larger crystal, they are using an aether wave system similar to ff7 live stream. Due to aether causing stress on the body, you can't costently travel. Anima is the fail safe. Not everything on the promo sight was left out >.>

Aether is part of our world unlike inb ffxi. And use in various ways.

nah keep it as is.

I can safely bet no one here really did play ffxi pre out post warping. If you did you wouldn't be crying over a good thing.

before out post warping it was time consuming to get from place to play and get everyone teleport crystals. staging point were no picnic either. Befor all the updates you had to get the staging points in a part just because of the risk.
I was a pain in the but to get anywhere. And forming parties was pretty nasty at times. Say they took it out or heavily restricted it and then parting became the way to go. Does anyone here seriously wanna walk to a party? taking a good 15 min. Or longer?

Anima has to go once we get propper travel methods. Or at least must be reduced to emergencies only. The world already feels small enough, even without. Not to mention the absence of adventure.

And in most cases falling in a fire pit of doom instantly kills you. Big deal. Death is nothing more then an annoyence.

seriously guys. Ypou do NOT want them to nerf teleportinbg if you do. I suggest play ffxi and never outpost warp. SEe what happens when joining groups lol.

The system is fine. I would just add less Aeth crystals and more Aeth gates. Some Aeth crystals are fine but some are close to each other and underground.

Then add chocobos near "some" Aeth crystals.

Like 3 Chocobo rent locations by Aeth crystals on each zone. Then add chocobo rents at city zones and towns.

limit riding times to like 15-30mins & distenace by steps. Like once your chocobo has done 5000 steps you auto-dismount.

Honestly traveling should be convientant. More so after you seen everything in each zone. But more importently this is an mmo not a single player game. When you group up with other people, your weasting their time if you take long to get to their location.

SE added the system in now due to the out post warping being well enjoyed.

once people start leveling in groups like killing mobs and doing quests. Your gonna want all the fast travel you want to meximise the amount of exp/sp you get during your play time. And not everyone will play the same amount of time. Which is something you need to consider.
in mmo it isn't just about you. it is about the community. People get peeved if you waste their time because of the limited travel options which causes long waits for people.

you really do not get it do ya lol. it isn't the amount of ppl. It will be how long they take. You can't just have the feature work when you feel it is needed. It needs to be open. If you never played ffxi before the outpost warping just before there were mages who can warp and teleport. Or around the white mage strike, Then do not talk.

It was a pain to party back then because of people taking log to get to camps. remember people are not gonna camp at the crystals. They will camp in the middle of no where that you still gotta walk/choco to.

SE can put lore behind anything to justify any feature but that doesn't mean should stay in the game. There could be lore that most races only have 4 hairstyles beacuse they all did their hair together but that doesn't make our limited options any better.

You said it was a bug test thing. Anima being a slow recharging price for teleporting should be changed. But the teleporting we use anima should npt be taken out or restrickted. If you guys want that you do not see the bigger picture on why it is in the game in the first place.

I can safely say no one here played ffxi pre outpost warps and are lying if they claim they did. ffxi was such a pain to get parties going at times because of how long it took people to gather up.

And no one should be forced to rely on another player for travel. mages in ffxi used to take 500gil a teleport. now you can't get one even at 10Kgil. If you find a person who does it free your lucky.

You have all successfully taken this thread to fail lengths. Traveling is part of any fantasy adventure game.. While SE is at it why don't they just give me the best weapon in the game every time it comes out.. so I'm not inconvenienced by having to earn it.. because earning is stupid compared to getting shit handed to me. Nobody is asking for teleportation to be removed.. we are simply stating its too convenient. people are going to get BORED with this game and how easy it is to get things done... because its all going to be DONE. Leave 100 anima in the game.. but make us quest to get 100 anima... why hand everything over? Oh and when i get the best weapon in the game SE.. please also give me armor that makes me invincible because being killed is inconvenient and my party members don't like it :/.

IMO i think asking me to spend time to level up to rank 50 is a huge inconvenience so we should all be made rank 50 right off the bat.. so we don't have to waste time grinding.. because that would ruin my adventure. And at the beginning I should be able to type in a game genie code that just gives me everything so i can just zoom through the game and ruin everything in my way... because finding all those items on my own would be an inconvenience.. questing for anything or having to endure the environment to get to the quest even... instead of just 2 second warping all over the map... would be an inconvenience. Howabout just getting rid of all of the zones so there is no where to walk anyway? the came come be completely text base except for the boss fights.. THAT would be cool and convenient!

I think i'd have teleport..... but why should i have to change jobs to use it? You know you can get longer flee (and cooldown) by fleeing as arc and switching to w/e; thats part of my plan for getting more aetheryte nodes..... you know cuz i F$#@KING walked there, it was miiiiighty adventurous; buff like a mutha, flee past and use sentinel when flee dies

Now that I've adventured.... I wanna teleport, why you gotta ask for it to cost 25anima..... of my 100? wtf?

Reduction of anima? Not just no, but HELL NO! I'm continuously in the single digits for anima already, I'd say we don't get enough anima as it is.

Just wait for when you'll have transportations. Then you'll be able to judge by yourself and do another thread about this.

Teleporting really breaks the emersion you get from a video game. Why would you need an airship when you can instantly teleport somewhere?

I think restricting the locations you can teleport to will help - Why is there a boat from Limsa to Ul'dah (sort of) if you can warp between them - anyone?

Now that we're so used to teleporting, perhaps the trick is one of these options: (or a combination thereof)
Restrict teleporting to be a class ability, perhaps of a Conjurer (they are conjuring a teleportation portal or something)
Make NPCs or Aetherytes the activation method for teleporting rather than at-will.
Add a DELAY between teleports. Like a warp cudgel in FFXI, a 1 to 2 hour delay between activating your own teleport will either force your party to share teleports, or cause you to be more conservative.
Make the cost of the teleport depending on factors such as the level range of the area - including making new characters start out with between 0 and 10 anima rather than 100. For example, Blackbrush would cost 4 if your in the region, or 6 if your in another region. Ok that's fine, what about Broken Water? Make that cost 6 if your in the region and 8 otherwise. What about Mor'dhona ? 10 and 12, Coerthas 8-10. Still halved if its your favorite.
Restrict teleportation to areas you haven't been to yet.


That would limit but not remove your ability to teleport quickly, and make you more conscious about your spending.
Yeah it slows the game down but it brings a need for things like Chocobos and Airships.
Right now why would I spend 200 gil, wait 15 minutes for the airship to show up, take a 5 minute ride, talk to door attendants, etc, when I could just spend 3 anima instead? 3 anima vs 20 minutes.


I like the teleports I just don't like how it's taken travel out of the game.

Also in the future, all they have to do is add areas that don't have aether nodes. They can also deactivate certain nodes based on conditions.
Heres an example: Conquest in FFXI. If the beastmen hordes are too strong in that area, the node is disabled.

I don't understand why people would want to remove teleports. If you don't like them, don't use them. If you want to walk around so you can enjoy your precious 'immersion', do it. No one is stopping you. Why do I have to be punished because you like to RP?

Anima doesn't even last all that long anyway. But it's great if you don't feel like taking 30 minutes to get to another city. That was one of the things about XI that drove a lot of my friends away from it. The fact that getting *anywhere* took around an hour. When half your gaming time is spent merely moving from point A to point B, especially when you've already been to both points many times, it really ruins the experience.

If you want 'realism', go play a shooter or a sports game. Long travel time isn't challenging in the least bit. It's merely an artificial means of extending playtime without actually having content. It was a method old MMOs used because they didn't have anything else for you to do.

out of your minds, why would u want to run anywhere, why take 10mins from playing afk on a boat, why chocobo for 10mins instead of instant ports. the mobs should take you to those places, the leves, the quests the missions, the content, the endgames. you shouldn't have to run for more then 5mins at a time without killing something.

ports should be free not cost anima, or at least make it a npc that charges gils, ill pay my left testy to not have to run around. anima i think was to fix the problem where depending on people to port was becoming hard to get teleports in ffxi. how many times a day did u guys use teleport in ffxi? like 10-20-30 easy a day, hopin from endgames, to grinds, to quests, to farming, to 5mins here or 10mins there, whatever. adding boats don't really help, less they are instant they waist your time. choco's yes please but to get from places inbetween crystals not in place of them, i don't plan on ever running with choco from a city to say iron lake, ehh i'll take a month off (not paying) and wait for my anima to get back up.

Maybe this is the fundamental disagreement here. I don't think that running for 30 minutes makes a task more challenging. It just increases the time required to complete it.

Ideally, the challenge would be from difficult battles and mobs. Not from fighting through the boredom of pressing auto-run, and then occasionally turning, for 30 minutes.
