I think 1 year is way too long if "ALL" teleports were free. What I suggest is "One" free teleport, just like the one with security token, so if u vet. and token, it gives u 2 free+return = 3 free

I don't really care, I haven't subbed as far to get the 270 day reward. Even if I do, that will still be another 90 days away before I even decide to sub again. In that time, I may already lose interest in the game. So the rewards for 360 days don't really bother me.
And before you know it there's gonna be a new area that might cost a lot and it'll come into use.
I'm not really yay about this but I'll also have to say that this is a reward and not this is what you paid for. You will sub anyways. It's not like you'll stop subbing if you see the rewards aren't up to your expectations.
Sometimes I ask myself what Japanese players and developpers think if they read such typical "western 1st world problems" threads. Complaining about stuff that's free? Don't feel loved enough for paying an entire Year? Oh my Godness. You get a minion and 50 free ports. What do you think it should be like? Yoshi coming to your house having tears in his eyes when he falls down on his knees to thank you for your subscription?
It's all well and good shaming people for being too entitled and all, but you've got to consider, a whole year's subscription is, what 15$ a month for twelve months? That's well over a hundred dollars. That's a lot of cash to spend on one game. I think giving the 360-day vets another permanently free aetheryte is well within the limits of what's fair considering it literally does not cost SE anything.

Please change it. An item you can use only 50 times sucks.
They should make a free teleport anywhere ability (like return) with 15-30 min CD.
You're right, they shouldn't have. Then they wouldn't have to worry about any extra cash coming in from people buying time in advance just to get the rewards. Whew, would save them alot of work where they could work on the content that people have been screaming about a lack of. Those people should also STFU cause we're paying to play and we should be happy with the content we have forever and be glad we're allowed to play at all.
Selfish greedy people paying subs to enjoy whatever they feel like. BURN THEM ALL! BURN BURN THEM ALL AT THE STAKE!!! FILTHY MUGGLES!
It seems that players here are mis-construing the OP's petition.
When you've made it a point to implement a rewards system to reward loyal customers or customers that pays up front as a sign of commitment, you've gotta live up to your promises, if the previous rewards are of any indication, we'v been getting unique items such as minions and mounts or costumes, items that are otherwise unattainable in game.
This time round for a 1 year subscription milestone, they give you 50 free teleports which are pretty much redundant.
Consumables aren't a good veteran reward IMO, as the fact that you can only ever get it once makes it almost certain that players who have it would be inclined to not use it due to its one time use property.
Its like a retail store offering a unique limited edition collectible every month you've been a loyal customer spending X sum of money and at the 1 year mark, it gives you a $1 off coupon instead.
i refuse to read the 9 pages of this.
it does seem meh to me, but it is what it is.
after a year, if teleporting is an issue then....
regardless, these are bonuses.
stop feeling entitled.
Maybe this is just me being paranoid but I feel as if these tickets are a test run for cash shop items. I can see it now, for the low price of $1.99 you can get 99 Aetheryte Tickets.
When you've been getting a 20% discount for the past year and now you're only getting a $1 off, do you biatch about it then?
Stop twisting it and making the 360 day veteran rewards seem like its the first veteran reward implemented, the fact that past veteran rewards are following a trend of unique minions, mounts and costumes, heck you get a freaking behemoth mount for 270 days, it simply makes it natural for players to expect an equal or greater degree of reward value.
It isn't about entitlement, its merely a expectation from what the devs have set.
As anyone thought that maybe each ticket will give you 24hrs of free teleports? Yea it is one time use, but it do not, really say for how long it will last. So it possible it could be 50 days worth of free teleport warps. They do got the timer system in the game now, for the other stuff so they may do it that way. So you use the ticket and get so many hours of free warps, and not just a one warp and done.
50 days worth of free teleports would be worth the bonuse.
Signing this petition.
I'm with the "Why not Phantasia?"-fraction in this discussion ;P
I love that people that disagree with the petition are bumping it, instead of ignoring it and letting it die.
imo: SE decided to give Vet rewards, so they should do it right and give things worth giving. No one wants coal in their stocking for christmas ... but then we should be glad we got something, right?
This sums up my side of the argument perfectly. Veteran Rewards were NOT implemented as free "Thank you" items like some people seem to think. They shouldn't even be called rewards; they are "Veteran Incentives." They were designed for the sole purpose of giving players incentive to purchase larger chunks of subscription time. It has nothing to do with entitlement. They offer players items they can't get in-game because they know these items will get some players to subscribe to higher priced subscription models (ie. 6 month chunks.) If these players quit after 1-3 months SE still has their huge 6 month subscription fee in their pocket; and all they had to do was offer them the ability to unlock a mount they probably won't use much.
These Aetheryte Tickets are not going to sell any 6 month subscriptions (the Odin Minion might.) It's not unique, cool, or even useful for most players that have already played for 6 months. It just seems like they should have offered us something else as a one year reward just so they could sell more subscriptions (especially from a marketing perspective.) So why not change the reward? They'd make the players on one-side of this argument a lot happier and make more money in the process. As such, it makes no sense why people would defend such a poor "Veteran Incentive" item.
I know personal preferences vary but to me it does seem like the 30-day reward is way more substantial than the 1 year one.
Maybe at least put the 2-year reward to be another free aetheryte location or a special fishing rod or a mount. Something that stays.
It's not that I don't appreciate the perk but it seems LESS than the previous rewards and let's not forget how much more money one year is compared to just 30 days.
Actually, I'll make more use of those tickets than I ever will of the retarded Ahriman or Behemoth mounts. It's something useful for a change. Let's face it, a new minon that people will just call out until the next event/quest brings the new default?
Hah! My situation exactly. When I first heard about the aetheryte ticket, I thought it more likely that it would be something special and exciting, not a one-time consumeable like the description fuzzily indicated, and was thinking of upping my subscription from 90 to 180 days. After learning it's a stack of 50 tickets, I changed my mind and decided to stick with a 90 day sub. A minion isn't incentive enough to change it. It's not that I won't be playing half a year from now, I defiently will, I'm just putting off the time when that stack will clog up my inventory space.
I support OP's petition.
We have multiple payments options for a reason. If you are basing them off receiving an in game veteran reward faster and not for the real point of the payment options, that is entirely your fault.
If you pay for 6 months and quit a month in, its your fault. You had the option to pay month to month.
Your basis to the system is for ppl to buy larger chunks of time. I look at it differently, as ppl can pay month to month and get the reward at a later date.
The player has the option, they are not being forced.
QFT.
I think people arguing otherwise are being a little naive about the purpose of these incentives.
They aren't wholly a pat on the back for sticking with the game. They also form part of a pretty nifty marketing scheme to make people want to keep playing. This thread isn't in retaliation of that agenda (SE is, after all, a business). It is a request that SE stick with the original idea of Vet Rewards; that these should be significant, meaningful and something to look forward to.
Making something that is already available in the game free, 50 times, is neither significant or meaningful.
Maybe they give you a ticket for a free relic weapon of your choice lol i know wishful thinking :P
I'm bemused by the number of people who consider vet rewards to be "free".
360 days after purchasing the game for $20, you've spent $155.88. Everything that you experience as part of playing FFXIV has cost you $175.88.
Stop kidding yourself that SE have some kind of seperate budget for Vet Rewards. These are all paid for by your sub.
SE encourage you to keep subscribing by offering you incentives based on how much you've paid. It is not unreasonable to ask that these incentives be half-decent considering you've paid the best part of $200 to play for your first year.
The veteran rewards are indeed "free"; and with that, I mean that they are not part of what you pay for. You pay for access to FFXIV's server and to have X amounts of slots to create characters and interact with the game. In the contract, it doesn't say, that I am aware of, that you are entitled to these perks every x amount of time, and the kind of perks they will be. Like many have said here, it's just a token of appreciation for paying for the game. I just got my behemoth mount; i know that people went ahead and payed way in advance to start riding it as soon as it was announced. That was their decision because they wanted that item earlier. The way it was intended was as a token of thanks for sticking with the game, although, or course, they also did it knowing that some people would just pay in advance for them.
It's still a marketing ploy; plain and simple. And it works to great success. Mounts like the "Behemoth" are guaranteed to sell larger subscriptions. People will choose a longer sub to obtain them. That's the whole point of these items. I'm not even sure why you're throwing around the word "fault." General gamers love "cool in-game stuff" and are willing to pay for it.
That's not the point. They took all of these items out of the game (Mounts, Minions, etc) and slapped a "Veteran Reward" tag on them. Why? So people can graciously obtain them one month at a time? That's awful nice of them but, no. These items are selling larger subscriptions. If these were meant to be "month to month" items then they should have been left in the game. Instead, they can make $$$ on them this way; and that's perfectly fine. But don't say that's not what these items are for. It's the same reason why Collector's Editions even exist.
I'm quite happy with the rewards we've been given, it's a little added bonus to playing a game that you enjoy. However as said a few time here, if they are handing out rewards, I'd rather it be an item that won't vanish after a few uses. This is to mark a year of subbing to a game and compared to the other rewards it just seems a little meh.
That said, I am quite happy to take them and just hug into my little odin instead :3
Its still a option, and saying yours is the better is neither here nor there. People feel different and not everyone buys their time amount for the same reasons. The people who -did- buy their time to get the incentives however, have a hinky feel for this particular item. I think the lesson here is, don't expect ubersauce.
the first 3 set of rewards were every 30 days, that changed to every 90 days, nobody complained about that. i wouldn't complain if they changed it to every 180 days or even every 360 days. they should just do it right when they do it.
i don't think anyone does. lots of people just want the equivalent to the 30, 90 or 270 day rewards (another Fantasia or a mount). Mounts have a quantifiable price in the game, 120k gil for each Beastmen Mount, 50 teleports won't hit a quarter of that. Fantasia are nearly priceless for the people who want them, let us put them on the market board and we'll see how valuable they really are.
Huh? They didn't take anything out of the game. They've been rewarded through subscription since the first day of service. How are they selling higher subscriptions? When I pay for the 12th month of play in game, I'll get the rewards for that time. Now, you probably mean the desperate people who need to have everything yesterday. Those? Well, as it goes like almost in every aspect of business, if you want something early, you have to pay the price for it. If they stop playing before their subscription expires, their problem as it was their decision, no one but their need to have it instantly forced them to do that.
It wouldn't be a "Veteran Reward" then. I feel as though you're just being upset about this for the sheer sake of being upset. As I said on the first page, we could just be paying, and not getting any rewards at all. You pay to play the game, that's the exchange of service, Veteran Rewards are literally just "Thank You" items for subscribing to the game for so long.
It's a customer loyalty thing, just like Best Buy, Famous Footwear, Gamestop, and any other business that provides a "loyalty" program. They don't have to do it because you're already conducting business with them in the first place, but they do as an incentive to get you to play more and to keep coming back to them.
It's a virtual token of appreciation. What's this big fuss even about? Just make a suggestion thread saying "Dear Devs, could we possibly have [item here] as a veteran's reward one of these days? It'd be awesome!" whereas there's this big rigmarole involving a petition to change something that the devs have already coordinated in their plans and what-have-you.
In short, it's not that serious. It's a customer loyalty program, don't like what this round consists of? Send a suggestion. All this petitioning isn't necessary. More importantly, elaborate a possible item that you'd like to see and not throw a vague "I just want -something-" out there because technically, free teleport tokens count as "something".
