What's interesting besides having luck and gils?

Yay, a new relic!
It's an upgraded relic. Also if you like your hellish claws look then use the mirage system to keep the look.
Missed the point, as part of the quest to upgrade the weapon they should have you penta meld a crafted 90 weapon and turn it in to start the relic upgrade process. To make it more interesting put some more into the economy.
Not saying they will actually do this but it be a interesting idea.
Also Gerolt is back with what looks like a new quest and different looking upgraded relics. Maybe he will require a crafted melded weapon again to use as the base to reforge your old relic.

"Rowena, the maven of munitions at Revenant's Toll, espouses that proof of an item's authenticity can be found in Gerolt's signature─the mark of Rhalgr, breaker of worlds─and indeed, the master's fervor for the god of destruction in his early years is widely known. Those who would possess true power would do well to seek those artifacts that bear this mark."
Nope, these are definitively Gerolt's creations, and the new relics
Those are new relics. The whole spiel about forgeries and whatnot is merely more added lore pertaining to Gerolt, might have something to do with the new quests perhaps, but that's likely about it. I am looking forward to these. I hope that the new book for Summoners looks cool, but tbh, I want to see what all the new relic weapons that haven't been shown look like.
I take it that the armor in the screenshots are also made by gerolt or are bought from the new tomestones but anyway these 3 new so called relic weapons don't look as good as the relics we have now imo but oh well that's why we get the glamour system for.
a bit off topic but those bard shoes look terrible. Thank god for glamours.....
If those are the new relic weapons like it's pretty much being agreed upon, then I love the look of the PLD weapon.
Stoked to get it!
Plenty of upgrades for relic! Ssj relic! Ssj2 relic! ...bah.. Let's cheat... Aaaaarrrrrg!!! *super secret powers burrowed from primals* ssj4 relic fused all together!
That bow though.....THAT BOW THOUGH.....
XI's SAM class was an example of this. For unlocking the class they gave you an easily replaceable level 1 Great Katana which was later used for the level 40 AF weapon. If you discarded it you'd have to go out of your way to talk to an NPC to get a new one, which took about 3 real life hours for the NPC to give you a new one
Um.. I never said anything about relic armors. Relics refer to the weapons. That being said, the armors shown are some of the new tome armors. You can think I'm speculating, and I suppose I am partially. Though aside from these three pictures they are also displayed in the new 2.2 video during the Moogle King Extreme part, where a Warrior is wearing the same gear shown in the picture that the Pld is wearing (in fact I believe that section of the video shows all the new tome gear and new relic weapons, but it is rather hard to make out details on a lot of the characters). It's the new tome tank set, these armors are too unique looking to match any dungeon drops you'd see at level 50 or any crafted armors that have been shown and given the look of these they are far more detailed than any crafted armors that we have seen or will see with 2.2.
Speaking of crafted armor, it's about time we get dye-able versions of the lvl 15 unique dungeon armors. Who knows, maybe 2.3 will add the dye-able versions of the Brayflox sets.
I'm not saying we won't perhaps eventually get dye-able crafted gear that is actually interesting looking and unique, but given the current trend, I would bet on seeing anything that's going to be brand new in 2.2 have a craftable version of it any time in the near or even semi distant future.
Don't know anything about that.
What I do know is these screenshots come from a section of the website marked Gerolt's Masterworks. It's more probable to assume they are new crafting recipes, or new items that can be purchased with the new tomes of war history.
Believing these weapons are the new upgraded version of Relics when there is nothing indicating such is silly.
I'd be willing to bet money Relic weapons will not get any new graphics, especially since there's no reason for them to when there is now a vanity system in place.
Are you serious ? There have never been any tomes weapons. Also, Gerolt has been related to the relic since the beginning of the restoration.. He was never part of the crafting recipes nor lore (except him being the absolute master in any crafting art existent iirc)
Also, the "new items that can be purchased with the new tomes" are the AF2.
Uh, yes I did. That's why I said It's about time we got those. I didn't see any Battlemage or the Brayflox dps set (forgot name), just Acolyte and ... (also forgot name) that lvl 15 dps set.
Edit - I stand corrected. Apparently the Brayflox sets were in there. Well that's good. Still don't see them adding i70-i90+ in there for a while though (meaning current sets, AF, DL, Myth, new tome stuff).
I think maybe we are overthinking the quote "unlocking the relic's true powers" here, my thought is that the relic itself is at its peak in zenith form and its "true power" is to be used to create a completely new weapon not relic anymore but something greater that can be built upon as the game progresses. This could very well be Zodiak or what ever crazy term used to descried the weapon but seeing as relic's are now zenith I can't see the new form being considered a relic anymore (more like the new weapon can only be acquired or created from a relic weapon in is "PEAK" or Zenith form).
This would make more sense to me!
The weapons look cool, but (for me) they don't have the relic feeling. I'm going with crafted; regarding Gerlolt, he'll probably give you a quest to expand your crafting log to higher level recipies or something of that sort. Not saying he won't be involved in the upgrade to the Zeniths, as he probably will, just that these weapons might be something else (think the green ilvl70 weapons that needed tome mats., but ilvl90ish.)
Relic was the item itself restored
Relic +1 was the relic, infused with spirits. You didn't actually unlock its "true power", you simply infuse it with stuff.
What I don't get is why they got rid of +1 and favors "Zenith" suffix. But that's a different story
Well my thought on that was they wanted the upgrade to be named, because just saying +1 gives no sense of ending. Zenith can mean upwards or the highest form. X Zenith is the highest that X can get. If the relics can be upgraded further, and they get a new name or transform into something else entirely, then it'd make sense.
Instead of just calling it X +2.
(Didn't read the whole thread)
Is there any info. on what's the requirement for the new upgraded relic?
