Why do people hate on tanky healers?

Let's assume for a second that this yumi yumi character isn't a massive troll and isn't just giving you guys a good trolling.

If you're running a tanky white mage build and having success in turn 1 / 2 / hm primals, good for you. You're overgeared for that fight. We were killing those guys when we were fresh 50s, and I killed my first hm titan as WHM at i63.

You see, you're being successful as a tank whm in those fights because those fights are pretty damn easy. It really doesn't take much to heal / solo heal those fights, so it really doesn't matter how much hp you have. What matters right now are t5 / ex primals. Base your ideas off the hardest content, not the content that came out in September.'

tldr; your gear doesnt matter because those fights don't matter. if you succeed in t5 / ex primals as tanky whm its because your scholar carried you /thread

Lol i love that elitist attitude, you do know that there are still a bunch of people who didn't beat, experience, unlock these so called easy instances that came out in september? Also lol, i bet half of your static groups wouldn't have made much progress if it weren't for strat videos.
Also what truely matters is just clearing any content and having fun, not just ex primals/ coil t5.
I bet once turns 6-9 comes out people will go "watch strat vids please to their statics/ fcs.
All you're doing is just wearing BiS gear and copying the said methods.
Also i usually have a second whm in my PUG party, so yea lol no sch :/

Also zavier how was i carried in turn 1?
Sometimes the other healers gets cleaved and dies and i go lol wut so weakkkk :p
Then i go heal both tanks till someone else raises the dead healer.
It usually happens during the split.
I can't afford to raise cuz
1) no swiftcast < my bad lol
2) save mp for cures
Cuz i usually use shroud at split so i drop most aggro i accumulated.
You only assumed i was carried cuz u can't possibly imagine a whm doing this.

Eclips is right. You're running bottom-level endgame content with a gimp build - and getting carried. If you want to tank, be a tank. No one else should have to do all the heavy lifting for you just so you can feel clever. Tanking with WHM isn't smart. It means you don't understand how to play your class. If you did, you wouldn't be focused on moronic off-brand builds. You'd be focused on being the best WHM healer you could possibly be ... which, by your own accord, you are a looooooooooonnnnnnnnnngggggggggg ways from.

1) You're using shroud wrong.
2) You can't afford to Rez because you're using shroud wrong.
3) Swiftcast can be had in a day. Lazy.
4) Your other healer would probably survive if your output wasn't gimped so hard.

Getting 1 shot or near 1 shotted by a cleave than spat on with the poison thing kinda is a lol damn moment.
Also is shroud not a whm tool for dropping aggro? Also i use it cuz i'm at usually 80% mp at that point so i let it mp regen tick while i heal so after it stops i'm at 70_80% still and not like 30% mp.
And usually i can use 2 shrouds dmuring the split, 1 at the beginning and 1 near the end.
Idk y some whm go like " i'll use it when my drops really low"
Its like u might as well use it an let it refresh later on so u can use it again. Like divine seal.

I was running around as a SCH with 5k HP for a bit. It didn't help as much as I thought it would for things. Not a huge deal on SCH because a lot of things are % based on damage and tank HP. But I would never want to gimp myself by doing it on WHM.

If I see non-tanks stacking Vit (not counting to meet HP reqs for Titan or T5), it means they can't dodge. See them the ground too often since they eat everything and healers just stop healing them after a while.

The SMN with MND accessories? Yeah, he's barely performing his job trying to be a third healer "just in case". The BRD with STR accessories...What is he even thinking?


As for "overgearing"...what about yourself? Nearly full i90 on that SCH of yours...why not go back to DL and heal?

I've beaten T5 on my scholar, and Solo heal EX primals with my tank build WHM. I handicap myself because this game is that easy. Explain that.

If that happens, they will have gear that pushes people past that threshold within their own classes. There is literally no scenario in which your attempted WHM tanking is not made of fail.

Why would I need to explain something that most people capable of clearing content understand already? Let's be clear that if your whm is geared enough to be tanky, you most likely have over 400 mind. That's plenty to heal the content regardless of how much HP you have. The fewer healers you have, the faster the fight goes, which is less healing throughout.

Solo healing garuda ex is easier than 2 healing it. Less people take damage, this allows for less mind.
Solo healing titan ex isn't hard because it's a pattern. Most of the difficulty in the fight comes from having a smart team, not whether or not you have heal throughput.
Solo healing ifrit ex is just dumb and I won't even humor it.

There's nothing to explain really. This is a game made for the ps3, it's never going to be hard for a PC player.

I'm a ps3 player, also you just confirmed my point. Even with a tank build, you can still heal fine. So if you want to be an idiot and make a stupid tank build then power to you.

What's your point then? The reason we get new gear is to make the fights easier / quicker, not harder and longer. You don't have to be tanky to live through any of the fights except for having 4k hp on twintania. When you say things like "I stack hp on my WHM" its like saying you stack dexterity on your dragoon. It just makes us think you're stupid and we're going to have to work harder to complete the fight to carry you.

I couldn't agree more Why make a fight long and annoying when you can geared properly and do it right you can be done fast.

I think the appropriate term for this build is: "oh look at me in i90 gears but really I heal like an i60s with more HP".

Often, to do 2 things at once is to do neither. MMO wisdom is to do one thing as well as possible, because splitting your stats and or skills weakens your abilities. Also, the lack of Swiftcast means if anyone does die, you can't insta-rez. This is a dealbreaker for raiding. sometimes one person down means a wipe. If the healer can cast one macro and fix it, that can save the day...no amount of heal-tanking can make up for this shortcoming.

That being said, you pay the same monthly as the rest of us. Game any way you like, it's just a game. Don't let the haters drag you down. If you are having fun, then mission accomplished.

My point is that if you can still complete your run, why not use something unviable, just for the fun of it? Also let me remind you that there IS a double standard for dps vs healers. Healers can afford to lose some of their main stat, it doesn't gimp them that much. That's the beauty of being a healer; it's a SKILL DEPENDANT class. My WHM has 6k hp, and it's absurd, that's why i use it. I accept that it's stupid though, that's why i use it only when i'm messing around

I\\'ve seen much harder solo things healers have done. In fact I just solo healed Ultima. Not because they died, but we qued that way. Even at almost i90 whm Ultima HM is a pain to solo heal due to it all being magical damage.

Lol i love it when i see healers complaining about the lasers in ultima HM and how it kills them while they r trying to dodge and cast etc.
Those lasers just feel like a pinch XD
Just slap a regen and medica 2 on urself with divine seal and just heal away at the tanks and party cuz u'll usaully be back up to full full hp after every laser sequence

Also wait lol.... If the other healer is more" undergeared"than me, lets say running around with mostly CT parts, zenith and mostly DL and some ilvl 90 healer accessories.
Does that not mean we are both equal? Cuz if i went in with my other set of myth healer accessories and a crafted ring with vit and melded mind materia, wouldn't i be considered carrying the other healer due to them being lesser geared than me by default? Like you can't really compare 2 different ( 5-10ilvl difference) people right? It's pretty much given that people have forgotten what its like to not be in a static and LS pugs.

Also how is it that a healer can dps, heal and tank to an extent where as dps and tanks can't really measure up to that?
Like would'nt it be interesting if dps had their own cleric stance thing where they switch dex/ strength with mind lol so dps can somewhat off heal.
Cuz u always hear, if you are not healing you should be helping out the dps. But u never hear when you are not attacking, you should help heal for dps.

Also we get new gear stuff each big patch or 2 is so that the stats won't fall behind as there will always be newer and more stat dependent battles that will require you to have upgraded from the previous patch.

I've run with you before Yumi and didn't really think your healing was bad. You ever try out PvP? I think it would be a good build for it maybe.

it doesn't matter whichever build you are, crit, speed, tanky, even BiS
end game contents rely on members not getting unnecessary damage
you just need to be geared enough and perform well

Nah my build doesn't work anymore in pvp, it worked well when everyone was new and fresh in pvp. But now if i attempt to even do 1 battle it'll usually end up in a non stop stun fest and get zerged as if i had 100hp lol. With the non stop geared melee/ tanks all diving in like there is no tomorrow. But yea it worked well back then but not so much now lol.

Also if u actually played with me and saw my healing ur opinion would probably be the most viable as everyone elses is based off of stats and assumptions. Lol

Also its kinda impossible to not expect people to eat stuff once in a while let alone die from it.
But yea i think people kinda forget the whole point of clutch saves from healers with LB3.

But the thing that always happens is after the initial revive the dps and other healer tend to derp and get 1 shot the next few seconds cuz of weakness lol
Then u get like 4-5/8 ppl dead.
And thats when its the healers fault for not timing it right.
But yea there's a reason y they made healer LB3, its to expect the worse XD

I ran with you doing one of the primal where you got the black unicorn. I think it was Garuda X. Don't think anyone really cared about your healing until someone checked your gear and pointed out that you were using tanking accessories. Then the complaints kept coming. Guess it was more perception then actual performance since we killed it anyways.

Sounds more like the other healers noticed he had to carry harder than usual which is exactly the point of the OP not healing enough to carry their weights.
