i'm sorry that's just ludicrous, just because you can enjoy a thing doesn't mean you are it's target audience. the avengers was targeted to male children and teens, all marvel movies (brightly coloured, well costumed) have been tailored towards a young audience of late. also i'm not sure what other movies you know of that are targeted towards 20-30 year old men and come with excessive disney merchandising, costume lines, young boys clothing lines, a teen drama and a disney channel cartoon (with it's own toy line).

i'm pretty sure they're not trying to catch your attention, unless you're a rather unusual 20-30 year old man. given that you can't understand advertising/marketing in this instance, i'm not inclined to believe your assertions in other instances.

You need to play Dark Souls, it's easily the best game this generation, and possibly ever made (IMO)
& the sequel is shaping up to best it in nearly every way

I am not the kind of "white knight" thinking that everything the developers do is right. Quite the contrary. Said that, I don't envy them, seeing the attitude of many players here. Including myself when I am in bad mood. :P

My current take on this game is: far from perfect, with glaring issues, but what is good is SO good that for the first time in my life I am paying subscriptions for 2 games (the other is good old WoW, of course).

So, FF14 is somewhat WoW-like, with better graphics and, on the whole, slightly worse gameplay. For me, that's good: had no problem in finding myself at home with the game. I may be too conservative, but imho MMO games don't need a revolution, like Web browsers don't need one. The WoW model works just right. These games need gradual technical advances, good quality and some decent story authors.

And maybe we should give some break to SE. This game is a few months old, 1.0 doesn't count as it was rewritten completely. Nothing is born perfect.

Oh eum.. idk. Probably because 2 triple AAA mmo and World of warcraft expansion is coming soon so people who quit out of boredom will most likely not come back anytime soon. So while you stand there doing damage control for SE you'll be the first one to complain in a few month how the community has gotten too small.

Would i rather pay 15$ a month for one raid with 4 bosses with the most boring gear progression i have ever seen or go to a whole new game that won't be held back by a 8 years old hardware? hard choice

Don't get me wrong, I love alot of what the games does, and don't want a revolution, I just want more variety instead of: Do Dungeons, get loot, lockout, do dungeon next week, get loot

I don't want contrived explanations for why Ifrit is now "Extreme", I don't want enemies to become more powerful than Ultima, then eventually we're fighting God, but don't stop there! Patch 3.2 adds God "Extreme Mode" Please look forward to it"

If everyone thought like you we would still be living in the stone age . I remember someone once said , we don't need graphical user interfaces like windows , DOS does just fine.

SE has basically said "Screw you, we want to make everything instanced and have no plans to do anything else except your monthly dungeon"

Wow has been around for a while now and has built lore and content out the wazzoo. The main difference is that WoW has had like... 8 years or something to add content and expand. Ffxiv has had about 5 months not including the stuff from 1.0. The only reason people remember stuff like ragefire chasm from WoW is because you would do it all the time when you started a new character. Ffxiv doesnt really have that unless you start an alt (which few people do).

Also please dont compare this game to demon/dark souls. Two very very different game structures. Compare it to other games that are MMOs.

The game will evolve lore and deeper story and a greater connection with things. Theyll fix pvp, add more pve, more classes and fun in general.

Maybe in a few yeara we'll see stuff like Garuda EX mk.II and what not after we have seen more content and what not much like WOW recycled things like Ragnaros and Onyxia and stuff. Patience young grasshopper.

Indeed, I'm very excited for it. If they added crafting group content, or other content for crafters/gatherers, it'd make my day!

What annoys me though is when people talk about future content and they don't even say they'll look into it, and say they don't have plans to ever add it, or even think about it.

& Garuda EX mk II is exactly the type of thing I wouldn't want to see, lol

Oh, I'd love to play this game, or WoW, in virtual reality (though undoubtedly some encounters would be real scary). But I guess the things I'd do would be basically the same I do now: I mean, walking, riding or porting to places, talking, doing quests, fighting, casting spells, crafting, gathering, fishing, sightseeing etc.

i just doesn't understand why they add more coil turn instead of different raid...? different lock out...?

Virtual Reality would be interesting .

I would get rid of the global cooldowns, still have some sort of casting time and cooldowns for abilities but get rid of the global cooldowns to make gameplay flow better .

Crafters would be required for end game and have a economy system like EVE.

World would be seemless with no zones . Probably procedurally generated dungeons would be good idea too .

End game would have a lot more open world bosses and open world encounters not just dungeon or primal of the month .

• Put in place a super powerful lvl60 weapon/gear quest that takes a minimum of 6 months to complete for the most dedicated of hardcores - and an average of 18-20 months to complete for mid-core players. - Most of it should either be soloable or should piggyback on other content, but it should require expertise and dedication in all aspects of ARR gameplay (ie. a rare item from each of the game's dungeons, FATEs, primals, raids, etc. ultra-rare gathering items, and hard-to-make crafted items, drops from treasure hunts, Beastmen quest items, special Guildleve rewards, 100k GC item, etc, etc, etc.. -- Have it all culminate in an epic battle vs a new boss that must be solo'd [eg Maat] to complete.)

Most of this seems like a nightmare, ultra rare progression items omg no. 6 months and 18-20 months to complete something...not just a no, but a hell no lol. Your genkei quests won't be what your thinking...think ffxiv arr af armor set. Level increases don't do anything but even out the rest playing field gear wise.

It's hard to notice what 2.1 did because it actually improved the game for everybody who started after it. It filled gaps in endgame content that were geometric leaps in difficulty and eliminated a lot of boring grind-y time-sinks by replacing them with more entertaining options (leves, hests and and dungeons now being equal or faster in progression than pure FATE grinding for one, and many more alternatives for tomestones aside from running WP and AK a million times), and fixed certain things that needed fixing (see WAR post 2.1 compared to WAR before 2.1).

IMHO they didn't keep their promise on how quickly they would provide this sort of service in regular content updates, but ironically that's because the game's launch and sales were more successful than originally anticipated, and they had to burn some midnight oil just on accomodating to the extra stress caused by the huge amount of players.

Basically, I'm looking forward to future developments, because it seems like they are aiming to create a well-rounded game experience.

2.1 wasn't a bad first update. All of it should have been in the initial release - but what can you do when there are deadlines. Even those deadlines played a role in some content released in 2.1 such as housing. All that "gear" progression was there until SE decided our +1's were too common. Overall I'm looking forward for upcoming content because everything after 2.1 should be "new" content and not "late" content. Hopefully SE doesn't piss the players off again like they did with FC housing prices and the lack of support to accommodate the players.

Titan extreme seems to be blocking a lot of people's progression mostly to the intolerance of lag. Hopefully SE changes this view as they make new content to give players a little bit more time to evade or a smaller AOE area. I think SE should focus on non dungeon/instanced material too. In ffxi I never even really knew I was in a dungeon because it was all open world. So awesome to see another party out doing stuff besides my own.

I would probably reactivate my sub if they just made the music in the Dungeons loop, or give you the option to loop them.
& get rid of the battle theme

Currently i'm enjoying it but casual players bashed too hard so the game more casual friendly...
insta locked out dungeons or loot from CT once per week, every patch is just primal, coil, CT, another adds quest makes in-game to do too repetitive and very limited.

IMO SE need to prepare create another big expansion to deliver but just not with current system.

Challenging end-game content when everyone can farm and enjoy with, anyday.

I'm pretty happy with the game. It has an enjoyable atmosphere. Structured well. The game play suits my work schedule. I'm able to make a few steps forward each day, even on my own, and the progress is palpable. Anonymous cooperation can sometimes be stressful, but it works more often than not. The story is fun and amusing at times. I see no reason to change course, but there is nothing wrong with branching out either.

I'm always up for new stuff, as long as it doesn't involve a certain earth-diety.

I think the game already has plenty of fast easy progression for every class.

Adding slow long term goals and quests wouldn't make this suddenly a korean mmo.

Variety is always good but this game needs more long-term goals too in addition to all the fast stuff players just blast through in minutes.

Or even the genre for that matter I can see that, I wouldn't call Dark Souls a frustrating game either, just one that has no mercy in punishing you for your mistakes, but also helping you learn from them- but it does take a certain type of player, patience is your best virtue when playing that game, my friend on his very first guideless run only died 5x.
He was very observant of everything around him, and would watch enemies attack patterns for like 3 minutes before even engaging them.

I'm pretty excited for the new content. I've been running around in near full allagan long enough to wonder when I'm supposed to be getting the next tier of gear. The game has been out for a while and it's time for a new tier to work towards. That's just how the modern MMO's go. Beat the current tier, get your "BiS", wait for next tier, repeat.

As much as I love the Souls series, using it as a comparison doesn't make much sense, as it's Apples to Oranges. Dark Souls really doesn't have ENDLESS re playability unless you want to tinker with stats. In the end, you're still killing the same bosses, but you can tinker with your stats and gear to make it somewhat different, thus giving the illusion of a new game. In the end, it feels like endless gameplay because you enjoy playing it so much. I'm still SUPER excited for Dark Souls 2 though. It's a shame the PC version won't be out March 11th. /sigh

And that doesn't depress you? I miss multiple equally viable gearsets, situational gear sets etc. Things that take years to acquire.

Gear is just gear, what matter in the game is to play, it's just here for vanity and progression purpose, obtaining gear shouldn't be a goal to achieve but a mean to achieve end game content.

Certain gear as a goal has always been a part of an MMORPG - As it always have been even in WoW until recent expansions. Then again, MMORPGs haven't been MMORPGs since 2007ish and lots seem to like everything being meaningless.

Content didn't last in XI because of "Super low drop rates" (though some gear was notoriously awful I won't deny) it lasted because up until Abyssea and the level cap increases past 75, Tanaka maintained a mantra of never obsoleting old content but instead adding new content with new rewards that were comparable with older ones.

Didn't feel like grinding Sky? Go do Limbus/Sea/Salvage/Assault/Dynamis/whatever for your endgame gear. They were always adding more things to do without ever negating older stuff and it's what led to the thing I adored most about XI (after the presentation and job system) - endless stuff to do, and all of it meaningful. Even if you had everything you wanted it was fun helping out friends too. XI was not only the epitome of the series, but it just seemed to have one of if not the best MMO communities out there.

It makes me miss the old days on Seraph shouting in the dunes, even though I had many, many gripes with the game over the 9 years I played it heh. XIV just doesn't have the heart to it that XI did. I haven't cancelled my sub exactly but I did turn off my automatic renewal the other day (50-odd days left) as I feel I've given it the mandatory 6-month test and I sadly don't feel as confident as I once did about the game's future, not like I did with XI.
