They knew when to stop just before death, Koreans do not.:D
PS: Why couldn't these people just get up to get some biscuits or coke? or get someone to bring them food? Amateurs!

Well, we will see. GW2 videos are weak at best and much of it is still speculation. The concept and engineering behind it sounds great IF they pull it off. But how long has it been in development? Years reminds me of Huxley like 3 years ago? These guys were building the ultimate FPS MMO and never released it. Now I know GW2 will be released but I have my doubts on it's quality. Especially having played Aion for a year and seeing how bad that title was handled by NC Soft. Even with them only being the publisher it has me concerned.
Besides, GW2 won't be released until 2012 anyhow so there is plenty of time for XIV to be refined. GW2 seems to be the only game people are looking forward to. Tera will fail just like Aion did. Korea can't make an american game. They focus too much on crap that belongs in second life only.
I've known a few people who left to play Rift, only to come back because Rift was just a carbon copy of WoW. That should tell you how tired ppl are of playing the same thing, yet as soon as someone comes up with something original, they immediately b@#$! about it, and demand it be changed into what they're familiar. It's like Immortality in the literary sense, the hero may desire it, but when he finds it, it's almost always a curse.
I love how everyone rides on the phrase, "this game has potential"...in reality every game has potential, the only reason any of us stick around is because we're either (1) hardcore FF fans, (2) ex-FFXI fans, or (3) retarded :P jk. But seriously every game has potential, imo FFXIV is no different and I see this potential dwindling with each passing patch - I think this game is now trying to appease to the majority so they can try and drag in as many casual players as possible, especially on the PS3, so imo any potential this had is seeping out slowly and its faster and faster turning into your typical run of the mill MMO.
If that was the case, then I don't see why the dev team is taking so long to implement this stuff and speak to the community about what they would like to see. If they honestly wanted to go that route, they could have easily patched it up like 2 months ago and start charging everyone to play it for a few months and then quit because it was just like WoW and Rift + the other thousands of MMORPGs.
I dont think this is really a problem, i feel new ideas can work with people if they are executed, unfortunately developers dont try to innovate cause they are afraid they may fail, they would rather take the safe audience and just copy things. SE did not execute and i guarantee you if they took all their ideas they were talking about pre beta and actually executed them this would be a unique experience that people enjoyed. Too many people are blaming players and saying they want an mmo copy, that isnt true at all. we want SE to execute on SOMETHING, cause up until now they have failed.
Now they are in damage control so they really have no choice but to resort to dumbed down stuff to try to gather enough curious gamers to charge. They missed their window to create an epic unique game, we did not do this to them, and people that say that its our fault are terribly wrong. I think people need to understand the fact that this game will probably never live up to expectations. It missed the window to truely innovate unrestricted by trying to rush fix the game, and it will always carry the stigma of its launch. Sooner people realize this the sooner companies will learn to execute, because then more companies will lose business.
OK maybe I'm wrong so go ahead and tell me what stands out to you as "unique" about this game? maybe I am legitimately wrong, I'm not trying to mock you or anything, but If unique means daily repeatable quests that are more a hindrance to fun that straight out grinding then I don't want unique. If unique means that entire zones outside the city walls is equivalent to a pre-level 10 zone in every other MMO in existence then I don't want unique. If unique means large maps that are a bore to look at and explore then I don't want unique. What is unique exactly? is it the crafting system? sure its nice but its nothing special and it has been done to some degree in the same way in other games like Everquest I believe...and considering this game isn't a crafting game, I don't want unique. If by unique you mean it has the most beautiful graphics of any MMO, sure but at what expense?
So what is unique about this game exactly? and in your opinion where has the dev team taken this game? all I see are patches inducing shallow quests that are even more boring, shallow mobs they called NMs although they are hardly notorious since we see them more often than their "placeholders" and instanced dungeons are on the way...nothing unique and the game is turning into your typical run of the mill MMO imo. Maybe you see things differently and its not like I want this for this game but this is exactly all I see.
And please don't tell me that the Market Wards are unique, they are the most retarded idea to date.
I didn't exactly say it was unique at all, but the point i am trying to make is that if they wanted FFXIV to be like any other MMORPG out there, they would have done it by now.
I'll judge the uniqueness of a game when it is finished. This game is not even close to being done. I suppose by the time the battle patch is released, i'll write you an essay about how unique it is or how lame and dull it is and compare it to battle systems of other mmorpgs.
I'm not calling you out on anything, but you want an answer, and you shall have an answer. I'll look into it.
So instead of betting on odds and evens you want to bet it'll land on it's edge. Well let me tell you something, anyone can talk big, but very few deliver it, and sometimes it's by pure chance.
It's Delusions Of Grandeur. Let's face it, if you want to bet your livelyhood on a lottery of a million or more to one odds, sure, but I say the odds are you'll instead is to go out and get a lame boring job...and maybe even a better then just lame job.
Less movies and more reality.
I dont know exactly what you are replying to in my post? to me you seem to be agreeing with me that it is much easier to just settle for doing easy lame things then play odds and try to make greatmess. If so then yes that is my point. If you are disagreeing with me i dont quite understand your post im afraid :(
Thats because i think most fans of FF want XIV to be a offspring of the awesome XI not WOW FF online fans most i know were expecting just that a upgraded version of the brilliance that was XI, or at least keep the meat and potatoes of what made that game great!
WHY DO PPL KEEP SAYING FANS OF FF EXPECTED OR WANTED A WOW CLONE FROM SE?
FF and WoW are soooooo different and anyone that liked wow seemed to hate XI so why would they come to XIV expecting anything to be like wow?
Its obvious that alot that dont like this game were XI Fans that expected "XI-2" or at least something close to being as good if not better....
Get mad if you want say what you will but for some reason i think this is a bit more than just my opinion.
Look at he threads theres tons of them about just what i said, you see a few haters but i think its pretty commonly agreed upon opinion.... sigh..
same thing for me.Quote:
I don't want them to make FFXIV a typical MMO, but that's what they are doing atm. Instead of fixing flaws in those unique features, they remove them completely and replace them with cookiecutter ones - the more they do it, the more of a cookiecutter FFXIV becomes and the less chances they have to see me stay.
WTF Square-Enix!!, thought you guys were pioneers of RPG stuff and a MMO is about as RPG as you can get.
Man I agree with this guy, but i will also say that Wow is the typical MMORPG prototype that ppl keep seeming to want to clone, there are tons that have the same mechanics as wow, same look feel everything, BUT of all the MMORPG's i've played and trust me i have played tons f2p and p2p, there hasnt been one simular to FFXI classes, gameplay, battle, strategy, community, none not one simular at all.
Tell me one game, just one that is even close to being simular to XI.
So when I hear that they think that the new team may be trying to please the masses and make this game overly casual and appeal to the masses like so many other mmorpg's, you really cant add the flag ship SE mmo to that list not at all, because final fantasy XI was original and innovative.
XI was nothing at all like wow, therefor by its own standard it was inovative and original. I wont say I am not biased but I think anyone that has played a number of MMORPG'S as I have can easily tell you this FACT.
SE hit the jackpot with XI with SOOOO many players racking in cash for sooooo long, with a formula that was hated by most wow fans because it was sooo different from that and every other "typical MMORPG" when the standards are being seen as anything that was in wow like it was the 1st mmorpg which it wasnt. So why in the hell would they Decide to go away from what was a successful formula to be another copy of wow?
As bad as this game is, from head to toe aweful IMO I rather see it keep the 10-15 ppl that I see in these forums attacking anyone that wants to see it change, win or see it get shut down rather then see it be another wow clone.
If they wanna clone something or lets say build on the ideas of a successful MMORPG why not take some of what they have in house which is XI, that was SE's inovative revolutionary mmorpg. Not really saying carbon copy, but build on, make tweaks and advancements to an original ideal of what is already theirs.
Lets face it with gaming today nothing is REALLY new just a twist to a already used idea system ect.
SSSOOO why completely ignor every aspect of what made XI great and instead try to drop in crap from WoW?
You think when Blizzard makes its next MMORPG after WoW its gonna say "Ok WoW was nice for us, made us all rich, little kids everywhere loved it, so lets forget every thing that we did and do something completely different it probably wont work but screw it were rich we can waste a few bucks."
HELL NO! Its gonna be "WoW-2" with better cartoon visuals, and higher pogo stick jumping, and like the many many MANY pokeman(black,White,Teal,Pancake) all the little kids will love the new WoW as well, watch what i tell you now...
Did i read a while back that the new producer is a wow fan and former wow player?
I hope i am imagining that.
Because If he is and that means he's like logging off of wow and going to work man we are screwed! =P
NONE!Quote:

only FFXI is like FFXI. square should be proud about that, but looks like they just want maximum sub base and it fail on them, and 10 years later FFXI is still going.
Isn't it tradition for every final fantasy game to have a complete unique experience from one another? Like different battle systems/stories/environment etc? I believe that was what FFXIV was trying to accomplish and failed.
Actually no..it's not. FF games actually are similar to another in many ways, just not a direct expansion. I.E: engine reuse
FF11 and FF12 are the greatest near brothers, as FF1-FF4 barely changed back in those days and quite similar FF 6 and FF9, FF7-FF8, etc. The projects end up like that due to who gets put in charge and what seems popular, etc.
Even FF spirit within...you can see a lot of resembles to FF8 of due to their staff.
Messing with success is never something to take lightly. Being forced to mess with success can be disastrous as we see in hindsight.
People who want an AH are lazy. People who want auto-attack are poor players who don't understand the combat system. People who want "jump" are clueless. People who say there is nothing to do are the ones standing around in camps waiting on behests, or have way too much time on their hands to level every job to 50. People who say the world is too small never explore it. People complaining about the UI are most likely the ones crying about other games being WoW clones, and then demanding WoW features in every game they play. People who want PvP are playing the wrong IP. People need to explore, learn new techniques, study the game, and create enjoyable experiences with their friends.
My LS does stuff all the time. We do SP parties just like FFXI (but better) between Behests. We do leves waiting for our camping spots to respawn to full. We work on crafting when we are by ourselves. We do the story at a pace so we always have some filler content while leveling.
I love this game. It is unique. It's beautiful. The only things it needs are: more max level content, examination of a better travel system (not game breaking), and some technical tweeks. We do not need: a new combat system, a different UI, PvP, jumping, and an AH.
They could, and should be charging subs for this game. I want to support its development in any way I can.
I'm not asking for a direct exact copy, no XI fan is asking for that trust me.
Take the basics of whats there that is great and has been loved for 10 years and improve on it add a little slap ya momma seasoning, some hot sauce, a squeez of lemon, mix in some real final fantasy classes, toss that bad boy in the oven and bam FFXIV its whats for dinner!
I for one would love it!
Sure some of it has been done in other FF IPs, but most of the game is unique to MMOs. And by the way, because you don't like something doesn't make it any less unique.
1. If you think the maps don't change then you haven't explored them. Simple as that.
2. The menu system and UI is unique, like it or not.
3. The stamina/tp based combat system is unique.
3. Market Wards are unique. Yeah, you've stated that you "hate" them, doesn't make the not unique. What's so bad about them? since they got the searchable interface they are the same as an Auction House. People still demanding an AH... I don't get it. Seriously someone explain what's wrong with the Wards.
4. The job/class system is unique. Being able to import skills, and mix and match abilities is a very good concept.
5. The storylines are all unique, and they are different for every starting zone.
6. The LS system is unique, way better than guilds. Ability to swap LS is nice and carry multiples is great.
7. Travel and anima system is unique. Causing you to set favored locations and traveling with intention. People demanding Airships and mounts really need to look into their organizational/time management skills.
8. Guild leve system (like it or not) is unique. Trading in for higher rewards, leve-linking with friends...
9. Crafting system is very unique.
10. Gathering system is also unique.
11. Class archetypes are unique (Land, Hand, and War & Magic). You can have a complete game experience and never lift a sword.
There are more items, but "I'm tired of appeasing your questions. It sounds to me like you just don't like the game, or don't have any in-game friends to make it an enjoyable experience. All of the things above are turning into cookie-cutter MMO BS because of whiners like you demanding more of the same.
The game as all of the components to be something great, which I'm sure won't be for everyone. But seriously come to terms with yourself, quit a game before you try to hack it to pieces and demand that it change, just so you can go back to WoW in the end.
The shortcomings of this game is the reason its failing and the reason they created a forum for ppl to say what they like and dont and what they would like to see done about thoes things.
Thoes that think like you are very very few doesnt think this game is made of fail like the last dude in a 100 man gbng line, look at the dwindling numbers in your ls, idk what server you play on where you are from or anything but its easy to guess that its the same across the boards. So that whole little fairy tale you wrote was a bunch of BS.
Very very few feel the way you do about this game i'm fine with that.
Again what I dont understand is why ppl who love this game bother with the forums at all you could be crafting right now, because for better or worse it may take about a year or 3 to make the 1st step, but SE claims there gonna change the game.
So wouldnt It be smart to not bother with us idiots that dont love this fabtastic 1337wootalicious original revolutionary game.
So you can enjoy it as much as possible before they change it?
The forums are here because SE knows the game failed and asked the fans what they thought, so i think ppl have the right to sing if handed a mic and asked to.
PS. READ homegirl, in previous post you can see that we said FFXI fans DO NOT WANT TO SEE ANY WoW ASPECTS IN XIV
I HATE WOW!
ok
1. You should not have to explore every nook and cranny of a huge region to find a couple unique spots.
2. The menu system and UI is not unique. It is a very standard console game layout UI that does not work well with mmos as it causes you to have to click and skim menus too often to every little thing.
3. Market wards are semi unique. They are just rolanmart thrown in to an instance. Think about what is going to happen if this game does become a success? crammed wards anyone?
4.The job system will be unique as soon as the classes get some uniquness. right now you just have magic users and non magic users that can share everyones skills. Noone likes to be the same as everyone else. And if you think you are totally free to mix and match your wrong. There is already abilities and whatnot you must have according to people to be effective.
5.The storylines are uninspired and not fun and they all converge at rank 20 so not really unique either. every nation has essentially the same storyline post 20.
6. LS system is the exact same as guilds so idk what you really mean by better. the only unique thing is that you can carry more then one. Good luck trying to kick or invite anyone though, LS have absolutely no administrative options right now. XI had better LSs for god sake.
7. Maybe people would like to do what you said in point 1 and explore a little? instead of mindlessly teleport all over the place? And hell chocobos are one of the things that make FF games unique along with airships so please stop on this if you dont want these to happen.
8.leves are inconvenient quests given at a single quest hub that limits your ability to really enjoy moving to new areas. They also cause camps to be unlively with the only thing being needed there is the crystal and maybe a few npcs to hand in locals.
9.you pull out a tool and hit standard synth 8 times? Unique in its inconvenience.
10. I like gathering sort of so ill just let you have that one.
11. and now this....the class archetypes are the exact same out of any mmo, you have tank classes, melee dps, ranged dps and magic users. The only unique thing is that you can mix and match skills which takes away from the class uniqueness. so 1-1+0 so by that law i say not unique since it creates uniqueness and destroys it at the same time.
i did not want to type this much at all but i will further argue any point on here cause your post struck a cord with me that doesnt happen often.
Reading MRS. V's post jeebus girl you have to be SE's biggest Sackrider.... This game must have busted your mmorpg cheri... or you work for SE. get a laugh before it gets erased.. Its like every single thing she listed was the biggest crock ever, or she could be the sarcasm queen and i just completely let that one wiz by =/
and no people who impose opinions on a game THEY BOUGHT are fans, just like you, and they are entitled to what they think. Throwing around words like douchebag also does not make you seem any more intelligent. I want this game to succeed so bad, but you honestly makes me want to gather up everyone who is on the fence and just leave and let you see how long the game stays afloat on the people that "love" it. If this wasnt a huge company and a numbered FF series this game would have been shut down for its poor launch. You may want to think about that. History proves me right.
why cant we all be friends? hehe :P
Some ppl you just cant see eye to eye with.
I honestly wanna say this is some kind of SE devel. employee acting as a player just to get a gauge of how pissed the fans really are.
I mean did you read the rediculous things that were said and a whole list of stuff that we all know isnt true like this game is unique and fun, and if it was a real player they would never lie and say they have lots of friends that play and they do all kinds of fun stuff.
Anyone in any server log in and say hello in ls you'll hear a pin drop the population of this game is dying and its not a slow death, its like 50mm round to the head fast.
Agreed, Every FF I ever played II-XII with the one exception of XII All had the same basic principle of combat. A menu driven combat/casting system. Although some people I'm sure loved XII, I thought the gambit system completely destroyed that game and so many others agree to this. So what does that tell us? Don't F****** deviate from what works. The main differences throughout the series are mini-games, character development, environment, graphics and story. That's where they should have focused their efforts. There were, IMHO, absolutely no flaws in the combat and interactive UI mechanics of XI. Small tweaks, great! Hotbar omfg NO!
Most fans of the series love it for the epic story. Even XI had incomparable and epic story lines. If SE does not develop this within the next year they will certainly lose the Sub of this 7 year XI vet...
Your opinion is your own and I have no qualms with it but I wanna say that so many others will also disagree with you, FFXII was mainly well received outside the GameFAQs community. I played the game through once without using gambits, its possible and its slow but I enjoyed gambits because they themselves were a form of strategizing.Quote:

I agree with the OP. Also, we have WAY too many people here who want it to be FFXI with better graphics. Just...no.
