Some companies encourage rushing. I've seen plenty of MMOs where the company offered the first few players who hit level 25 a new mount or pet. This usually happened during open beta and hell look at the recognition the FC Order of the Blue Gatr or whatever got. They received recognition from Yoshida himself for completing Coil 1 - 4 first. For some that in itself is a prize.
I am happy for you man =). I believe I remember your name in 1.0 ( You have the Rare Goobbue) . If all this came from 1.0 ( grinding wise), then all I see from your profile is Arcanist to 50. ( Probably FATE grinding).
Either way, I congratulate you for your efforts.
Edit: My Profile ( Moonlight Star<----- Brand new Chara) is my main right now and that is what I got so far, take a look ( 4 maybe 5 hours daily).

Myth cap makes me want to play 1 day a week. Coil 1-2-3-4, AKx4 and I'm set.
There's little point in leveling other classes to 50 IMO when I won't be worth taking someones spot who puts all their myths into that class. The best I can do is hope for some left-over Allegan gear and DL or crafted.
Yea I see this a lot on this forum. Even though I was stuck on titan and took a break from doing him all together for about 1 week. I still got past him and coil has been my only thing to do for almost 2 weeks. I only see myself even bothering with this game atm just to run with my coil static and even then I just play another game till it starts. All in all this game didn't live up to the content expectations set by the developers saying it started at 50 and having plenty of end game. As many have said this game does a great job of pulling you in for 50 levels but does next to nothing in wanting to keep you there at 50. SE needs to step up their game and they need to step it up hard since atm the games 50 content is not entirely worth the sub fee.
No, I'm not saying anything to that extent. I'm saying: do what is fun. All disagreements aside, I figured (maybe mistakenly) that this makes a lot of sense in this universe.
*record screeching to a halt*
Doing fun things in a game? How preposterous of anybody to suggest such nonsense!
Run a business in a non-efficient fashion? No.
Play a game in a way that is more fun than the boring way to rush through it, at least until the game developers make the needed improvements to it? Yes.
People do what is fast> What is fun?!Quote:
No, I'm not saying anything to that extent. I'm saying: do what is fun.
People should play a game for the fun parts not the parts that feel like a job to them >.>.
Granted they do need to fix some issues the the exp gains for some of the leveling content. Even still I'm not going to do the fastest content possible just to get 50 and have little to do when I get there. Yes I am going slow paced, and that's fine, more content for me when I actually DO hit 50.
Running a hundred dungeons to 50 with friends and running Fates to 50 with the same friends is the same amount as fun...so why would you take the least efficient path? Logic does not compute...
They made the game with the ability to rush, purposely making dungeon grinding worthless and no incentive to do so. You don't even get gil from the instances and I can farm monster drops MORE EFFICIENT outside of dungeons. Really, none of your points make any sense at all =/.
Edit for another response:
I'm talking about monster drops for crafting. You can buy jewelry from the AH for cheap and get AF1 gear from your 45 quest; so dungeon running is rather pointless. Guildhests can only be done once for decent Gil. Dungeons in Beta 4 were giving 50% more xp than they currently are right now, which means they nerfed it for launch.
They could just lower the cost of the items... :)
*hears the hardcore players scream in horror*
Did you really understand my point?
I mean... I basically just said that this game keeps me occupied for 32 hours a week, which I'm pretty sure was a gross overestimate given what I currently do in game, fyi... 32 hours out of 168. Feel free to make assumptions about my social life if you like though...
I am by no means asking if I should spend more time outside this game, I'm asking why a game with a subscription fee has such a pathetic amount of content... Like I said, this game reeks of F2P at the moment... Subscription fees are meant to mean more content, I'm fairly certain Yoshida himself has said that much... Then again he also said he wouldn't release this game until it was finished, then delayed most of the interesting content...
This is the kind of "point" being made of someone who is playing the game in a very specific way. FATEs are the most efficient way to gain exp. Dungeons are the most efficient if you want to get aetherial or unique gear and not end up at level 50 wearing white level 15 jewelry. Guildhests are the most gil-efficient. Levequests for battlecraft are not efficient compared to tradecraft or gathercraft leves, but have a chance to yield gil bonuses or random dungeon-style chest loot. Sidequests are not efficient in any way (especially at the level 40+ mark), and are repetitive, if not for the cute little stories they tell which hardly anything else does. If we're going to talk about efficiency, at least get your facts straight.
Ehrm, no. Basically, you can rush any game, that's up to you. I'm not sure if they wanted dungeon grinding to be worthless or if that is an oversight. If I had to guess, it's from being too cautious at balancing it and making it so unintentionally, but I'll wait for official response on the matter before I jump to any conclusions.
Doing stuff for fun makes no sense at all? Unless you really believe that speedrunning is the only thinkable way to enjoy any game.
In fact, if you're complaining about the tomestone cap, you're complaining about something that is in place to prevent people from rushing. Looking back, I think you're making a lot less sense than me right now.
Few notes:
1- Coil drops equivalent gear.
2- BiS is obtained from both AF2 and Coil. In another word you only should buy few pieces from AF2 if you are aiming for BiS and the rest is from Coil.
Quick Example from memory: BLM BiS is AF2 Head, Coil Body, Coil Legs, Coil Waist, Coil Gloves and Coil boots. For Accessory AF2 Neck, Braclet and Ring, rest from Coil.
3- I have not seen 1 BLM/SMN drop in 4 weeks now, so yeah it is going to take a while to complete BiS and actually reach the point where we (FFXIV end game players) can brute force Turn 5 before we worry about the upcoming Turn 6 and beyond.
This is a pay to play MMO, your progress should be directly proportional to how much you play. Period.
In vanilla WoW and TBC, there was a HUGE gear/progression discrepancy between the cutting edge raiders and casual players. And you know what? Each one gained and retained several times more subscribers than any other MMO in history. 5 million and 6 million, respectively, for a total of 11 million by the time WotLK arrived.
Fast forward to WotLK, Cata, and MoP. Everyone is kept at the same level of content, no discrepancy between what content is being experienced by who. And the game hasn't posted a SINGLE net-positive quarter for sub growth or retention as a percentage of new gains since 2008. That is FACT, taken from Blizzard's own press release archives. The casual iterations of the game have seen the game drop from a high of 12 million subscribers to it's current level of ~7 million. MoP, for example, lost 2 million subs in less than 365 days, even though the game was being released in COMPLETELY fresh markets like Brazil, so you can't say "it's because WoW is old!".
The fact is, no one is going to keep paying to play an ultra-casual MMO where everyone is always on the same level. Not even--or perhaps, especially--casuals themselves. I would know; I am a very casual player myself these days.
Its SE's way of trying to tell you "Do other things with your time". If you are playing 10 hours a day you are addicted even though you will never admit it to yourself.
Don't just play end-game. -.- End-game as of right now is only 10% of the game. If you focus solely on that, of course you'll get burnt out. In a patch or 2 End-game should serve more of a purpose. 1.23 did it kinda ( and that was with a bad launch). 2.0 is an alright launch could be better. However, this time around they don't have to fix battle systems and the crappy servers etc. ( they don't just have levequests lol, that was funny when I saw 1.0 that was the only "content" >.<).
Edit: If you are a 1.0 player and have most or all 50's then, I do suggest you either make a new character or wait 1-2 patches before coming back.
Personally, I'm glad the cap is there and I'm looking forward to getting to the Myth grind 'cause then I don't feel pressured (by myself, not blaming that on anyone but myself, lol) to grind every single night to try and get there as quick as possible. Instead I just hit the weekly cap, and then play some other games I still need to get to. X)
168 ... mmm lets take out the weekends eh? 120 - 40 if you have a normal job, 80 and we'll do a low 6 hrs of sleep each day, so 50 hrs, 10 hrs each day, I don't know your commute, how your lunch break works, when you get home, leave for work, cook, clean, and how that's divided out.
You're the one who proposed what you could better do with your time.
Overall I do agree they need to adjust something though.
I hate grinding period though :).
What is the other 90% of the game? Crafting and Gathering? Both boring and fairly pointless since Gil has no real value in this game, 2.1 adds housing which will be great, but it is FC housing which I am by no means going to pay for solely. Leveling other jobs? What, so I can't gear them at endgame? Honestly, if I'm only playing 10% of the game, please do inform me of what the other 90% is.
Sure thing, I had zero pieces of Dorklight before today, well known for that in my ingame social circles in fact, what can I say, Healers really don't need any gear at all. Clearly I've been playing non-stop before now.... I only even decided to actually focus on Philosophy because I am that bored. Kind of disappointed I can only carry one Radz-at-Han since I intended to get enough for all Relics before bothering with any Dorklight.
Yup I totally agree. Especially when the devs say they wanted everyone to blow through 1-49 to get to 50 and start the "real game". Which would indicate the end game is exactly what the devs wanted everyone to be at. So that 90% prior to end game must have been so good and fast that when I blinked I blew past it.
Content will come.Quote:
On topic - caps should be removed. And to all those saying "But then you'll end the game in 1 month!", my reply is, then make more content?
There is enough content already actually, FFXIV is one of the games with the most content I have seen on launch.
But you know... people want the content to be easy and fast and non stop, thatings that cannot and will not be done.
So either find something to do in game or you just find some other game to play in the mean time and stop playing 24/7.
System is fine and needed, level your chocobo to max.Quote:
But for some of us there really is not that many things to do.
Some of us have all jobs caped and multiple relics. The cap is somewhat frustrating and only put there because the overall lack of content.
I have been saying since the beta
SE should wait a few more months to prepare more content before release or they would place some system like this in place.
Okay so we found your problem. Apprently you just want to circumvent the natural progression of the game and skip DL and go straight to mythology items. Sorry thats not how it works. Looks like you have plenty of reason to log in to get your full DL but you just think you are too good for it.
I agree with you.Quote:

I have also replied in my previous posts that Mythology is not the only end game gear in ARR
But people ignore allagan, darklight and craftable 2 stars gear because they want everything to be the easy (let me get it right now) way.
SOrry but MMOS dont work like that and as I always say to them, "Learn to play".
For me the burnout is coming because I log in and cap out my myth stones and then don't log in again for the week. I feel no connection with my character due to the massive gaps in playtime 5-6 days, and can hardly justify maintaining a sub when only playing 4 days a month for a few hours. There's no connection to your character or to the game when you are forced into playing it so casually (for me).
It is cute that you think healers need Dorklight, that extra Mind does phenomenally little. I guess all the people doing Coil in Dorklight instead of the iLv80 gear from Crystal Tower just think they're too good as well?
I did Coil in Strategos. At the split of turn 1s boss, my tank did fine, the other healer (full Dorklight) did not so well. Now I'm waiting on my FC instead of pathetic shout groups.
Strategos to AF2/Heroes is a significant upgrade, Strategos to Dorklight is not. Plus, you know, AF2 is AF2. I kind of want it based on that alone...
Level the rest of your classes, see the story behind them.Quote:

If the extra mind does nothing then you dont need mythology caps removed, go and do coil in darklight.Quote:

Or you can learn how to play and maybe get craftable gear that are better than darklight witch take time to get and will keep you busy
Which enforces my point that AK gear is relevant end game gear.Quote:

You will get your AF2..... in time... you know like an MMO.
Untill then, craft your i70 gear and put materia on them, they are better than dorklight.
Myth cap removal is still not needed.
Yes the other content is revolved around leveling your other classes. 1-49 is the part that gets you to end-game ( cap). Without content ( and yes even in 1.0 grinding off of mobs is content, just some view that differently), you wouldn't even be able to get to 50.Quote:
Honestly, if I'm only playing 10% of the game, please do inform me of what the other 90% is.
In 2.0, you have a variety of different ways to level up ( Fast or Slow) it doesn't matter they're still a way to level up other than FATES:
1) Guildhest
2) FATEs ( which in my opinion if people don't like it they shouldn't be doing it because it's the fastest, a game is meant to have fun, not to be takin' like a job)
3) Levequest
4) Hunting Log
5) Sidequests ( read them as well some of them are kinda funny to me XD)
6) Dungeons
7) Actual grinding, it is there and sometimes can be just AS good as FATEs ( Japanese Team got 1-50 that way)
I just don't understand it, If there's no end-game then play another class you think is fun and Mix up the content above. Just doing FATEs and getting to 50 as fast as possible will only making your boredom worse. Anyone can do what they like, I'm merely giving advise.
The leveling up content is there ( some areas need tweaks for sure), and I understand there's not much end-game. So while you wait for 2.1/2.2, You can do other classes you may want, or level up the 2 classes that is conjunction with your main job, to take skills from.
I have three 50s, that's quite enough. I have decided which to focus on, and there's no incentive to gear up additional level 50s because while the thought of a 5 month gearing process for my main character is nauseating, the thought of additional 5 month periods to gear additional classes is far worse. Current system is broken, plain and simple.
Let me help you understand then: I don't really enjoy playing non-healer roles.
I imagine that is why I'm not going out there and playing another class that I think is fun, I already leveled the class that I think is fun, I'd like to play it now if that is alright with you.
Then all I can tell you is unsub and wait a couple patches. Also, if you are a 1.0 players ( and I remember your name from 1.0) then I understand why you don't have much to level up. Starlord Ravine has all my 50's but I choose to make a new charcter for a new game, I am glad I did. I would have nothing to do on Starlord Ravine since End-game is limited kinda atm.
Edit: Again I said it's "advise" you don't have to take it. ( It's not good advise) you may say. Well, I don't know what to tell ya.
Starlord just got shut down lol. Many people like to focus on one class, my brothers only ever play 1 class in any MMO we play (they abhor the leveling process). I am a mixed bag, but I only find monk enjoyable in this game, everything else is too slow paced so I concur that leveling other classes does not count as content as much as these mouthpieces like to pretend it is.
I have to admit, I wish the raid lockouts were on a per Job basis rather than per character basis.
Would be so much more fun to run Coil twice or three times per week rather than once per week.
I don't think the myth cap should be raised though (maybe coil should ignore the myth cap), but people don't need to be grinding ilvl 90 gear from AK faster. It's already stupid that AK effectively gives .3 or .65 pieces of ilvl 90 gear per week already...
As explained in a post right above yours, leveling additional classes is *not* content for the many players who prefer to focus on a single class. You are clearly an altwhore, and that's fine, too, but don't tell me that because I don't play like you do I'm wrong. Obtuse to the max.
