Attention Tanks and DPS: It's not always the healers fault!

Not true. This statement gets old. Every class has a responsibility hence the whole "role" label. DPS responsibility is to deal damage, and for some DPS crowd control is a responsibility. BLM is responsible for sleeping as much as targeting the tanks target with as much damage as possible. I have had equals situations with all classes learning and not understanding his or her role yet.

Every class has a responsibility and a role as part of the team. Everyone deserves respect and consideration, whether tank, healer or damage dealer. Some people are still learning, so be patient and treat people fairly.

DPS Caster's need to pay attention to the mobs casting bar even more so than the red under their feet. The delay between the end of the cast bar + the red indicator/attack animation on the ground could get you hit even if you "think you were out of the red in time". There is also a delay once a caster starts casting, between stopping the cast to move, so watch that enemy mobs casting bar above his health as well as the red circles/indicators on the ground. :)

There are fights more dependent on dps then tanks/healers, usually fights with adds that need to die quickly. If dps don't properly switch and kill it can result in a failed run, this was the fault of neither the tank nor healer. Of course, in any given fight people will blame anyone other than themselves. Recently my drg friend tried to run ampador, the group wiped on first boss before even big golem spawned repeatedly...they blamed dps for not doing enough damage....

This is way incorrect. Dps'ers get hit too. We cant avoid everything, especially casters who cant move while casting. There are times when I think I have enough time to finish casting and I get hit. That's totally absurd to put the life of a dpser strictly on himself. If the healer isnt doing their job then we can die through no fault of our own.

Now we shouldn't be needing to get healed as often as a tank, but we still need heals ... especially if we dps hard enough to take aggro from the mob (yes, this actually happens).

The bottom line is it's a group effort.

If a tank or a healer commits a slight mistake once, like not getting out of an AOE in time and get their health to 20%, it's okay because they're human and humans commit mistakes.

If a DPS commits said mistake, then he is bad and should not be healed, and should be left for dead, and he sucks, and he should be ashamed.

It doesn't sound right to me.


As a healer it is your job to heal, not only the tank but everyone, if a DPS commits a very occassional mistake and takes damage and you let him die and tell him he's bad, you're a disgrace of a healer and should re-roll to another role.

I am talking about if a dps sits in obvious, easily avoidable crap and still gets hit putting even more strain on me when it isn't necessary, and he dies, and he comments with the obligitory "Hmmm" You know what they are thinking. "Why didn't the healer heal me wtf! hurrrrr hurrrr he's so bad" Tanks are not exempt from this either. A LOT of tanks sit in breath attacks (looking at you hydra!) die because of that debuff which makes my heals useless then ragequit when it was completely their fault.

I had the privledge of having a MNK tell me I must suck a healing as a Scholar because I had mentioned how damn squishy this one specific WAR was during Normal Mode Garuda. Granted, he also wasn't dodging attacks of her's like he should have, and the BRD was just plain useless. Dying and when he wasn't, he wouldn't use the MP song on the party. But no, the MNK tells me -I- must suck at healing because the squishy tank who wasn't moving away from cones..

Try replace your situation as a healer, you're standing in a red ring and your healing spell is about to finish. Your target is a DD who is about to die and you are about to get hit by the red circle, THEN you know how what the situation really feels like.

Thats why he rolls monk because it's most likely too hard for him to have a raid depend on him as a healer.
