In this case, they're actually right. WHM can't really solo anyone because half its toolkit is comprised of pure GCD healing and support. To utilize those healing skills, you start falling behind on damage. However, WHM has a sizeable burst (LB + Seraph Strike + Afflatus Misery). When timed well, they can take a large chunk of an enemy's HP bar out and that's usually enough in a party setting when they're playing around LB as enemies generally will not be at full HP all the time.
If WHM want to kill a full HP enemy in a 1v1 without backup or support, they're going to have to rely on map advantages to make up for the lack of damage (like stunning someone to take volcano damage or get knocked up). Alternatively, they will have to hope the opponent messes up and doesn't use recuperate for quite a while, which generally isn't feasible. Now if you were to compare WHM to SGE, SGE actually has the damage to kill their opponents and don't have to worry as much on healing since their healing and shields complements with their DPSing to access it.
I agree with this quote a lot since BLM is the kind of job that gets "worse" the better skilled players you find since players know how to deal with people better. Not like it was a bad option, but trying to make the most of it when people just know how to deal with it better makes it harder to play around. It being 10% isn't egregious and I personally think it's fine, which I'm pretty sure was the same as before? Even then I personally didn't think it was as horrible to deal with.
Tell me then, which jobs should a healer be able to 1v1 kill?
You think it's fair if a healer could 1v1 a dancer or machinist or reaper, to be able to bring all that healing and team utility and the miniLB that is MoN and still destroy anything they come across?
There aren't that many jobs that can actually solo other jobs with duels. Aka Most melee DPS (except NIN?), RDM... Or certain jobs under specific LB conditions through oneshots. I don't even understand how this is an argument. This is a team game.
Samurai Limit Break still the same one shot mechanic in the entire pvp mode? then hard pass.
SAM's in higher tiers get marked with a do not attack icon. SAM and DRG are the two easiest LB's to avoid in the game. The coping over getting killed by a SAM LB is honestly comical at this point.
If anything, I want SAM LB to change because the current one is just crap, but it works so well in lower brackets that it prevents SAM from actually having a good kit.
