Why would you want to sit on a GCD with 250-310 potency, when you can use SSS with 550 potency in such situations?

It´s unique since no other class has such downtime-possibilities. And i don´t care if i´m in the minority or not... i´m able to do a bit of math and to see the possibilities. This is something the most here are not able too.

Personally, I like the niche that SSS fills, but I do think the movement speed increase needs to be increased to that of Sprint and that SSS ought to use a rollover (i.e., to be an oGCD that adds 1.5 GCDs' time to your current time remaining until the GCD refreshes) instead of a relatively standard (double-)GCD skill. The latter, especially, would greatly increase its applicability.

If not, it at least needs a tiny potency increase.

I don't understand how patient some fellow monks are, really kudos to you fighting peacefully with those same manipulators who come here saying that we are the minority who like positionals on MNK.
SSS is not worthless it is just niche, you like it or not it is what it is, compare to Anatman who is very close to worthless.

You mean Square Enix? Pretty much every job is getting "streamlined" but BLM.

After doing the new raids with some average tanks, I'm starting to understand the changes to positionals. The boss moves so often and the tanks don't know how to position them and most of the time you are stacked with the tanks to maintain uptime due to raid mechanics. I'll wait till savage to fully form my opinions, but currently they are trying to turn this game into a touhou shooter with all the aoes so there's gonna be other things to focus on.

MNK is going to need to greed more though with the changes to RoE. Anatman is still useless most of the time and SSS still doesn't feel good to use.

Im glad positionals are few, gives you more time to focus on what the boss is doing rather than staring at your hotbars. If i would want a mnk change, i would want Six sided star and Anatman to be reworked, both are pretty much useless.

A simple fix for Six Sided star would be to give it a backwards jump, similiar to the dragoon or the Samurai

The 2nd boss has a full ring. (Positionals doesn´t matter in normal contentn anyway...)

Away from that, bad plays or bad players overall shouldn´t justify changes or removals of existing and working gameplay-mechanics, no matter if it´s about positionals now or has been about ressource-management, the tankstance and other stuff in the past. This is not how balancing works and always shows a middlefinger to players which played the class for its gameplay.

Positionals are definately not a bad thing. Tanks are bad if they turn the boss around for no reason and in kind of tanking a lot of inexperience is flying around here anyway.

I can´t get your point... i have my eyes on the hotbar if i´m not used to my rotation, not positionals. Actually positionals gave you the advantage to get used to your rotation better. Maybe it´s no thing for you, but the flow with the overall musclememory has become pretty much a selfrunner since you prepositioned for the next skill which told you "You´re at the side from the boss, Twinsnake time!" somehow.

And what´s the point to change SSS into a backjump? Why does everything has to be the same 123, engage, disengage, etc.? MNK has been a unique class in a lot of ways and the most stuff is already gone. How about we delete MNK and create Samurai 2.0 or Dragoon - Estinien edition! Maybe Ninja the worse generation, oh wait... it´s what we´ve imo!
Unique and niche skills bring variety to the game. Stop this homogenization or play another class, really....

I´ve already told you that SSS has its possibilities and MNK downtime-advantages with it against any other class. You don´t like it, fine... but it doesn´t make SSS a bad skill in any way.

i was really hoping they were going to add them back in this patch, but kinda figured they wouldn't. positionals made the class unique to me from not just this game, but other mmo's also. i refuse to level it to 90 because i'm not going to give them the satisfaction of adding me to their stats of number of level 90 monks.

i'm playing reaper right now hoping they put the positionals back in and i'll switch back to monk. pretty crappy having spent so much time and energy into learning the job just to have them take the aspect of the job that i found the most fun. after bad changes from sb to shb monk and now EW monk, i really don't have much hope for this class and i'm kinda leery of what they're going to do in expansions after this to any job i play.

First boss can easily be kept facing one direction for the whole fight and they do not move.

Second boss is omni-positional so it is irrelevant.

Third boss I can see being an issue, however the fight is still new. I'm sure the good tanks will find ways to allow melee to keep hitting the boss with minimal movements. As a tank main myself, I'm already thinking how I can improve the fight, just need to test the theories.

Fourth boss is very predictable in what they will do and it will not be that bad to land the vast majority of positionals on the boss.

the fact you tried to use new encounters to try and justify the removal of positionals speaks volumes to the mentality that is being displayed. Most Monk players will not go into a fight and expect to hit all of their positionals, what they will do, however is try and think of ways that they can keep positionals for future runs. Now that I know how this mechanic works, I can use this knowledge to further increase my contribution to the fight. Black Mage works on a similar principle that you need fight knowledge to minimise movement, but you do not see anyone saying to remove cast times from them, despite it being basically the same thing.

You also have to be aware that tanks are also new to the fight. We do not know how boss mechanics work, we do not know how the fight progresses, however, with increased knowledge we can further help the other players to make their lives easier. As has been said, you cannot use a bad tank as an excuse to get rid of something and in the same vein, you cannot use a new encounter as an excuse either.
