Pulling During Cutscene

That was sure a hell of a lot of text to say you don't like being nice. If you're going to be rude then don't be surprised when people get angry with you.

I don't think people should be yelling at you but people are going to react. Idk this lack of community comraderie in a multiplayer game based around cooperation at it's core. Whenever I absent mindedly pull I just say "Sorry, my bad." and we all move on with our day. If you really thought you were doing nothing wrong you wouldn't need to seek outside validation on a forum of strangers for it.

Because it's polite to let the new people retain their new people experience. Roulette is not there for us and our tomes. Roulette is there to keep the content alive for them. It's also running into the fight missing pieces of the party. When it happens in Alliance, especially these days, half the raid can be new and suddenly are getting pulled into mechanics happening around them.

SE provides the option to do at least dungeons entirely premade for those who are too impatient to be polite to others in a party setting.

I kind of wish they'd bring this back, as even on patch day you have people who have been farming it all day running ahead when I finally get to run it after work. It always amused me before when they tunnel visioned, ran in without their healer, locked me out, died, and had to do the walk of shame back to where I was waiting.

It's just cool to pull the boss after watching the cutscene, instead of just join the others when it's alreaby been pulled.
It's a polite thing to wait for others irl before starting something (or not letting others wait without a proper reason), why not doing that in game as well ?

Again, I repeat... did you see the part, the very first little paragraph I wrote, where I said it's not me that's pulling...?

I'm asking for opinions, as I've seen both sides. I'm not seeking validation for something I'm not even doing. I don't care either way if it gets pulled before cutscene is over, or not. I don't pull, but I'll attack if someone does.

All I'm trying to say is not following the "common courtesy" of waiting =/= harassing and attacking someone. But attacking and harassing is literally the response to people not following this "common courtesy". 9/10 when I see someone pull during cutscene, they are met with absolutely disgusting behaviour from other members of the alliance, accident or not. That is never okay, no matter what :)

Ah yes, the good old "time" excuse. I would wager that the vast majority of us have jobs, and some have families and other responsibilities too. If the extra minute or two (if that) it takes to wait through the cutscene is just too much for your schedule then maybe you should really do something else with your precious time. Just check your phone or pet your cat or something.

Bear in mind that FF14 is a story focused game, and the story experience includes both the cutscenes and the fights. Many of the fights even are set to evolve as they progress so missing the first mechanic or two is not only experience breaking and disorienting, it can potentially mean you miss seeing a mechanic that gets built upon or reused later in the fight.

There's no reason for people to be attacking each other but, frankly, if you early pull knowing there's sometone in a cutscene (and it's pretty easy to see) then you are being extremely selfish.

ever run either castrum or Praetorium and hate it because you are forced to watch the cutscenes?

well... surprise, its not because SE hates you and wants to torture you. its because people were not waiting for new people to watch the cutscenes.

so, while its common courtesy, which like common sense is in short supply these days, people usually will also wait so we do not have cutscenes imposed on us in mandatory fashion like Castrum and Praetorium.

The part I find interesting is stuff like this which centers around simply being courteous to others seems to only be an issue on NA servers.

SE removed the option to skip cutscenes in those 2 MSQ 8 man duties because they got tired of seeing people argue over it day in and day out.

In the end we end up losing things simply because people want to act like entitled children rather than mature adults.

People need to realize those other characters in their duty are actually people and not just more NPC's that have to automatically do whatever they want them to.

Human beings are human beings. Do you really expect different results? Going against what is considered polite behavior in any community usually results in some backlash.

Common courtesy or not. If someone gets angry and starts yelling at someone, i honestly think they have other problems.
Best to ignore the chat then. Dont argue, dont feed them. Its not worth the headache. Finish the dungeon and move on.
