Ilvl restrictions for leveling dungeons?

This request is obviously targetted towards people leveling alt jobs. Main story feeds you gear like crazy. They aren't doing ANYTHING in the open world when dungeons are the fastest way. Rarely do I see them doing fates during the wait.

hmm...all things considered that's true. I was imagining a "first job" scenario for the most part since that's the biggest type of player that have reason to be rather clueless. perhaps players that are juggling jobs during their first run through things but that's a rather specific subset of first-timers.

Not anymore, you get the gear set with the ilvl 200 stuff, though i think it was only left side...

and id say more important would be an avarage gear level or ppl just overgear with cheap rings etc... IE Bardam with 268 but no part below 255 or smt like that.

They could always make it left-side requirements to avoid the over-gearing with cheap rings, like the Level 5 MSQ that requires you to equip item level 5 gear in your head piece, body, hands, legs, and feet slots. Accessories are still kind of important for main stats/HP (especially for tanks since, well, VIT), but probably slightly less so than left side.

yeah. I just discovered that today when I brought NIN up to lvl 60.

What hurts me most is to remember the struggle gettin to lv 5 as we back then didnt get those right side gear >_>

Did some painful Sirensong runs recently with people in ironworks gear... This needs to happen.

Having played all three roles in every dungeon...yes, I support this happening. There's just a point in the game where having too low of an ilvl will make a run impossible to do. Honestly, this should have started with the ARR HM dungeons, when you had to have a min ilvl just to even get in. There shouldn't be anymore dungeons that only have a level sync. It's not fair to take a penalty because one party member is in Shire Gear still when you hit Bardam's Mettle. At some point, casual players need to be forced to keep their gear maintained - 'differing play styles' should not even be in this equation when it comes to gear in the DF.

The one point in the game where they actually teach you the importance of gear. Between people skipping it with job or story potions, or just breezing through it with gear the game now freely throws at you, so many new players don't go through even that...

Honestly, even regular Shire Gear that is 260 is enough for Bardam's. If a player leveled through just dungeons, Shisui would only get them to 270 anyways.

Now if you want the real kicker, go with a tank that's in Ironworks. Enjoy that.

Friend and I got Kugane Castle with a tank who purposely DC'd at the very end just to troll. Said friend, on Bard, tanked Yojimbo without a problem. The sad part was I had more fun healing her than I've ever had in that dungeon because I actually had to rotate between DPS and healing. This right here is a prime example why players are so bad at the game. Dungeons are basically auto-pilot.

Anywho, I doubt they ever will because they want us to carry people through story dungeons. When you can faceroll through everyone, it makes it that much easier to compensate for someone who has no clue what they're doing.
