    Ilvl restrictions for leveling dungeons?

I've seen this brought up quite a but lately but I can't find an actual topic dedicated to it.

I feel like there should be some (exceedingly liberal) ilvl restrictions to enter leveling dungeons. I don't honestly have numbers off the top of my head, I wasn't here for pre-HW so I don't know what gear progression looked like back then.

This restriction would apply to matched parties only so if you wanted to go through something crazy low it would still be an option but no one would queue for their daily roulettes to get a healer with an i210 weapon in Doma or a tank wearing a bunch of Yanfemi gear in Abania.

I'm sure the 'let them play how they want' crowd will come out of the woodwork soon and for those people I just want to say... I don't care. My experience matters too. I've been queueing for roulettes on DPS classes lately and if I can't keep threat off of myself with a combination of Shadewalker, Diversion and me being a mediocre (at best) NIN in a 60+ instance I feel like it's time to make my tank upgrade from the Doman gear (ilvl 200, unupgraded) he is wearing before he gets in the pool with the rest of the kids.

If this thread has been made let me know, I went back quite a few pages and couldn't find one but I could be mistaken.

Not going to happen. Customers who are bad and don't want to get better will stop being customers. That seems to be SE's stance. When you have dungeon bosses where a single player can solo them because the outgoing damage is that low or bosses where when the tank and healer die, a DPS or two can finish the last 20% of the boss off... Well, the difficulty is low enough that you can carry someone not even playing through the content, let alone one who is poorly geared and playing poorly.

Getting paired with a DPS who doesn't know what AoE is when facing 10+ mobs is just something I expect these days.

Yeah, they really do need ilvl restrictions on certain dungeons. I was in a group that kept wiping repeatedly in dusk vigil because the scholar was using a level 30 weapon and couldn't keep the tank alive.

I can see this being even more of a pain in bardam+ where the mobs hit like trucks. I'm not entirely sure why only some dungeons have a ilvl requirement, while others have none.

I can solo the last boss in the new dungeon with my Warrior. Took me like over 5 minutes after my party wiped, but I still did it. Does that mean it's too easy? Heh... so much for Expert Roulette.

INCREASE THE DIFFICULTY! GIVE US SAVAGE-LEVEL DUNGEONS!

At least Dusk Vigil and Sirensong Sea needs it along with whatever else is the first dungeon after a new expac because of the high ilvl variance for lvl50, 60 and eventually 70.

The other ways to level like PoTD or synced roulettes and now alliance raids that don't need much gear or it is synced down is making the problem worse because you can just level to 70 doing those in your low level gear and not touch SB leveling dungeons so when you actually decide to go do one or get it for leveling roulette by chance your gear might end up incredibly bad.

It is somewhat a problem with the way the game is set up. The quests are one time per character. In other games they don't usually have this problem due to either scaling gear or because every time you make a new character you can do the quests again. If you play another job on the same character on XIV you might not have the gear feeding quests anymore and you can level doing super old content and bypass the new leveling content.

Sure you can go to MB and buy some gear, grind poetics to get gear (I wouldn't even do this tbh, seems like a waste of time for gear that is rapidly replaced), or buy from an npc but players will usually take the easy way out. Some players don't care if you are incredibly gimp if this forum is anything to go by so they probably end up not caring because in most cases no one bothers to say anything unless it is causing wipes.

SE has already put tools in place to fix this. There are vendors in every city that sell 1-60 normal gear. There is ZERO reason to not have current ilvl equipment.

That is not e a fix, people still enter places undergeared, and dealing with the drama is a headache. No matter how light it is, we need ilevel requirements, people wear gear that pretty much makes it impossible to clear. I seen .. recently, I think it was the tank complaining about the healers gear and flat out told the healer, you are undergeared, just spam heals, and the person couldn't even press 11111 fast enough. So I ended up agreeing to the kick and the other DPS was talking crap, like how it was a, some kind of insult, move to kick them, even though the healer was making the run impossible to clear.

I am sick in seeing people act like you need to put up with this and carry people just because the game lets you enter it. That is why ilevel requirements are needed, because people think just because it allows you to enter it, means you can clear it. If people are going to act like this, the dev team needs to give more handholding, if they are trying to appeal to people that do not know better.

Also apparently it costs too much for some people.

it is a fix. if people cant be bothered to go to a vendor and spend minimal amounts of gil then they wont be bothered to wear hodgepodge gear to meet ilevel requirements or just quit the game citing "nothing to do". just doing story quests you can keep your gear updated easily. if people arent doing that, then they either have never played a MMO in their life until now or just intentionally gimping themselves to troll people. games like WoW can have an ilevel requirement because they give you a full set of that gear within the first few half dozen starter quests. Unfortunately SE doesnt really do that. And if the off chance that maybe they dont know there is a vendor that sells gear, I think there should be a quest that alerts new players to this fact, especially in ARR/HW content.

Just the other day I saved a group in Sohm Al on my alt. Supposedly the healer didn't bother gearing up since 40s. My augmented ironworks was very well received.

That really depends on where you are in the game. I'm gearing same alt for the Vault by running sidequests. It is a royal pain in the neck and completely unintuitive. Just running through the Aery once and MSQing would net me about 4 on-level pieces. That's not enough.
