Yeah Im really confused how stoneskin was a good idea to give drk while taking away its lifesteals potency and nerfing its main mitigation cooldown, if as above it really is only 10%

question if cover mitigates dmg, what happens when 2 or more pld cover each other?

The reason Soul Eater is nerfed, is because we're going to be using soul eater a LOT more than we did before, due to our DPS combo change. (We'd still want to DA soul eater, for the HP healed, but its pretty minimal of a difference, which I think is another reason it was lowered to such an extreme)

Dark Passenger was already really bad, so it BETTER have no MP cost, or be even lower in MP cost than 3.x
Also the DA bonus dmg on quietus is soooo bad.
While we cant boost the dmg on abyssal drain, wouldnt it be better to spend the MP on more abyssal drains, than DA?
Unless the DPS check is so tight, u cant run out of MP before time is up.

You realize that 10% of a Souleater in Grit is like 300 HP right? That may as well not even be there. Medica 2 ticks heal for more.

The question isn't whether DRK will be interesting or fun to play or optimize, its about how it is hands down the worst tank now, only giving WAR a bit of competition in the utility department.

People cried way too hard about PLD and yet when they kept buffing its DPS throughout the 3.x series, people REPEATEDLY said "this isn't want this job needs". So they buffed it even HARDER, took most/all of the other tanks' utility away, and doubled PLD's raid mitigation potential. PLD's DPS was 4-5% behind DRK and about 13% behind WAR (and that's not even taking slashing into account). Now, PLD is 25% ahead of both of them. and it brings better mitigation (it has zero cooldowns now that only work on one type of damage unlike the other two), and better utility.

I don't think its really fully hit everyone yet, I'm still soaking it up. IDK how much incompetence from the balancing team we are expected to take.

Yeah there seems to be a lot of legacy data left over. If Rampart (cross) does end up 10%, they might just be trying to force tanks to rely on gauge-costing defensive cooldowns more. Depending on how they do it, that could force tank stance (for pld and war anyway) just because of rapid tank busters. Rampart at 10% is also an indirect nerf to Intervention.
The Souleater change makes no sense. In the first place, nobody ever got the Souleater heal in a raid because no one ever used Grit on DRK. Second, 10% is basically nothing - why bother having it at all? A friend of mine suggested it might be another Koji-foxism and the tooltip might just be wrong. Has anyone seen the JP tooltip?

It appears Rampart is still 20%. The 10% was the old GLD Rampart left over from 3.0.

I'm aware of this.
Soul eater was already bad in how effective it was at healing us before.
But honestly, we hardly ever used it, as we only did it with DA.

So how many combos do we go through, before we ever use it, and get healed by it?
(Too lazy to do the math, but my guess would be around or less than 30% of the time, so it could more accurately equate a 30% heal per combo, or less. Where as now its a 10% heal per combo, or less, depending on threat combos)

Again, the other factor is how they made all DA GCDs give +140 potency with DA.
Which would be rather pointless, if Soul Eater healed for more, as it not only adds +140 potency, it also heals for that extra potency.
(Its still the better option, even if it heals 1 more HP in the end.)

I'm not saying I agree with their decision, I'm just saying why.
DRK is actually one of the most well designed tanks atm, but its nearly the worst when compared to what the other tanks are capable of right now.
(And that they took away some of our fun toys from 3.x)

I can't personally speak for everyone, but i used soul eater ALOT. Once i had enough emity, it was part of my main rotation. But again, i can't speak for everyone...

I do forget sometimes that the old untraited versions are still in the data, so yea. It's exactly why I heard it as a rumor, and not a confirmation xD

It's still hitting pretty hard for all these unnecessary nerfs DRK is getting, even though we weren't even the best tank and SLIGHTLY stronger than PLD. We were in the middle, not the best, but for damn sure not the worst.. and now?

This is in no way balance, and if all of this is true, I sure do hope that changes are looked into at 4.1.
