not to mention, you are selling SE's intellectual property

How did their bank accounts get banned? Unless I read that wrong. Unless the IRS and the Feds were involved I can't see their accounts getting banned, especially if they use paypal.
There is no law in any country that i know of that makes it illegal to purchase virtual currency with real currency. There is a rule against it in the TOS. Illegal, and breaking a TOS are two separate things. Lol. Also, to people comparing Gil sellers to drug dealers? Just lmao.
I would imagine they segregate their characters into different categories to keep their buisness ends straight. They would have something like "bank" characters, "advertizing" Characters "earning" characters, etc.
Fair enough. Poor choice of wording on my part. Honestly I have not even read the TOS or EULA either.
And ya, the comparison was sarcastic and meant for an extreme example. But you gotta admit, some similarities can be drawn.
"Hey, Low level character, I have some stuff here you might like. If you give me your lunch money I can help get you some gear that makes you feel invincible. Just dont tell anyone about it, it will be our little secret."
Ahh that makes sense. I didn't put too much thought into it.
Personally I don't give a damn if someone else buys gil. I don't do it mostly because my main goal thus far was to -make- gill myself (crafting). I hate the shit out of RMT spammers and i wish they would die in a horrible fire. But I don't -give a damn- if the guy next to me wants to spend money on gil. Truthfully Gil does -very little- in this game. The most you can get with it is ilv 70 crafted gear, which is only -slightly- better than Darklight (and in some cases inferior). Good, SE took some of the gil out of the system.. but seriously people get way too worked up over what some mastercard dual wielding 12 year old does with mommies money.
i didnt say there were cases.. its like jaywalking.. its illegal, but you dont see anyone getting tickets for it. you ARE selling someones intellectual property, the simple solution is to just ban them, if its too widespread they can move forward if they want with getting the accounts frozen. and if they persist, they'll likely sue them.
edit: i found this to be thorough

I would also bet there are conflicting international laws at play as well. Like using Swiss bank accounts to launder real money or evade taxes.
