The poor RMT's...

Was listening to the recent episode of Gamebreaker's FFXIV reborn podcast and they were talking about an Image that was sent to them. Had to post it here. Gave me a good laugh.



For those of you who complain "SE is doing nothing about the RMT's", well here's your proof.

Some people have been commenting on the word "bank" as it is used in the above screenshot. They discussed it in the Gamebreaker podcast and the quote below I think explains it.

I would imagine they segregate their characters into different categories to keep their buisness ends straight. They would have something like "bank" characters, "advertizing" Characters "earning" characters, etc.

I think I would have a little sympathy if they weren't sending me tells every 5 minutes with new characters. Yesterday was worse than normal; I assume RMTs that are left are trying desperately to sell some stock before getting banned.

Yes, today was worse than any other single day yet in terms of the barker gil spamers who shout, yell and tell for short periods, then get banned, then get replaced, Hydra-like, with even more lvl1 barkers. I must have put something like 15 on my blacklist, also reported all of them which was a pain, while doing some marathon crafting in Ul'duh. Three would pop up, I would blacklist/report, then 15 minutes later several more would appear. Rinse and repeat. Something has really stirred the hornets nest.

Its such a simple solution too.. limit how many shouts you can send in a minute. And if 1 person hits 50 blacklists in a 15 minute period. flag them and escalate it for banning. a GM sees their recent messages. instant ban.

I see some crazy transactions in the auction house that look like gil delivery. It will be one item that is normally selling at an established price and all the sudden you see it going for an insanely high amount from the same retainer repeatedly. Also STF is posting regular reports on the amount of accounts banned/gil removed, at the lodestone. Most recent report was this week.

lol your alleyway comment made me think of Uldah, the alley connected to the adventurer's guild with the wine bottles on the ground and refugees begging for gil.

I've seen them use this method in FFXI too, over the past year.

It's an old method, and the reason Blizzard put a 1 hour delivery in game on market sales many years ago. This allowed Blizzard to catch transactions by methods unkonwn, though I'm sure it didn't stop the practice completely.

I will say though I never saw many bots in wow and generally whatever they did there, they found a way to do it right. FFXIV is infested, yet I sitll think Guild Wars II was worse. The market in GW2 tanked crazy fast, and you could literally find places where 25 bots were farming easily. At least the market on my FFXIV server has allowed me to make some gil and sell farmed stuff reasonably well.
