AST did get a shirt, 007 was for MCH and AST. I have said this many times in this thread so far haha it's "Live and let Die" James Bond (The Tarot villain) along with the fact he used a gun, it was 2 in one :) Yoshida explained that back in the 2014 fanfests.
Because there's a significant difference between being directly stated by name in dialogue from the Director/Produce of the game, and random bubble text from two characters off to the side that don't directly name the jobs nor is that information present in the other 3 languages of the game.
How you have a hard time grasping this is beyond me.
Acknowledgement that the job exists, referenced by name, within the setting is honestly not something that should be shrugged off lightly. While the notion that yes, samurai likely existed in some form in the setting, this is a more substantial and direct mention of them.Quote:
And you cite yet another weak reference about someone saying that samurai exist? Yeah... and water is wet. Duh. We already know they "exist" in the lore of the game. The job itself is probably in the game, and I've never denied that. I said I find it odd they'd "leak" it before the announcement, is all.
Again you act like they intentionally meant to leak anything, accidents happen, look at the SE NA twitter account which posted Red Mage was one of two jobs for Stormblood, then immediately taken down and corrected. Mistakes happen.
Saying a piece of evidence is unsubstantial is not the same as denying it exists. The evidence for BLU is weaker than the evidence for SAM, it's simply the truth.Quote:
But you are. Every time you say "unsubstantial," you are denying that any evidence for BLU exists, when it's quite the contrary. A file name can be changed, or dropped, just as easily as one can be added. That samjob file could just as easily turn into pupjob during the next patch.
You tried to pass something that a website journalist wrote as being a direct quote from Yoshida when it wasn't in an attempt at a "gotcha!" moment. That's not facetious, that's deceitful (or maybe just dumb in your case).Quote:
Even my obviously facetious "evidence" is not "evidence" to you. I get it. Your little Lalafell heart is set on SAM. Hope you made room in there for BLU and PUP too.
And Yoshida's already commented they aren't even considering PUP for implementation in FFXIV, so I won't have to make room for anything there.
Back it up then, since you like posting sources. Because I was there too and remember no reference to blue during the spiderman shirt reveal.Quote:
The best translation we got was that he mentioned blue there. Since I don't know Japanese, I kind of went with the translators on reddit at the time. That's where I'm "pulling" it from.
Raubahn uses a sword BLU used in a single game and no where else. His abilities he uses have nothing to do with ifrit in name or execution, but a merely re-used assets just like so much in this game because it saves development time. All of his ability names are explained by the fact his sword, Tizona, which he took from a rival on the bloodsands, is a cursed magical blade.Quote:
Again, you deny even the slightest little things. Krile could actually fit the role of seer. Whether or not that job is introduced is a question for later. Raubahn fits the role of a BLU. His weapons of choice are used by BLU in another game. He also uses abilities that closely resemble Ifrit's. Oddly, none of this came out until the 3.X story arc. His whole entire character is a big reference to BLU in FFXI. A game where BLU was explored more than other games in the franchise. They're not even trying hard to hide it, if you ask me. But because a random NPC in a village doesn't say "I'm reminded of the Blue Mages of old, that used to get their powers from monsters," you turn a blind eye to it.
His whole entire character is not a reference to BLU in FFXI, only his name and vaguely the name of his Grand Company. I turn a blind eye because it's nothing but wishful thinking with nothing but vague references and mental gymnastics trying to pidgeon hole him into something he's not just so you have a leg to stand on in this debate.
I have not read the full thread (because man is this thread long) but I think I cracked the code:
Just like Kimari was a Blue Mage that was also a Dragoon.
Just like our Bard is a Ranger/Bard hybrid
We get a Blue Mage that also wields a Katana and is a Tank!
Anyways crazy idea, but if this happens, I want full credit (unless someone already said it somewhere in the thread already...)
PS: why is this thread so hostile? I thought this was about the fun of guessing the announcement ahead of time... I spot-read and I keep seeing arguments questioning each others intelligence, or claiming "that is not what I want." It's not like anything that is said on this thread will make devs cancel their plan and switch direction at this point. Why the hate? (yes, I'm newish to the forums.)
Not entirely crazy. I said it a few posts back. Citing Zenos' weapon for the theory. He has a katana, that looks as if it goes into a sheath on his gunblade. Also, he has what looks like tank gear.
RDM is getting a combo weapon. Maybe Samugunblademage is getting one too.
Because video game talk is supposed to be super serious. You need to provide 10 references, 40 pages of written essays, and cite sources according to ASME, ANSI, APA, IEEE, and ASTM standards.
Pretty sure he reiterated it as late as vegas (could be JP) fan fest 2016, though don't quote me on that or ask for source. It was an interview saying that they would not implement BLU until they found a way to fit the core identity of the job in an MMO setting, and that keeping the enemy skill learning aspect of the job is important, which he has admitted that they have not found a way to do that yet (who knows, could be a red herring, but it does seem weird)
Don't forget, Yoshi had similar comments about Red Mages ages and ages ago when asked why it wasn't on the table for 2.0 or 3.0. At the time he made comments to the effect that he wanted to bring the true essence of what a Red Mage was to FFXIV, but that the role system made it virtually impossible, and that they wouldn't add it until they could find a way to make it work.
Lo and behold, we have Red Mage, and its not a Healer or Tank, but a Ranged DPS.
The misinformed person here would be you because he absolutely did re-iterate the exact same idea as his 2014 statement regarding Blue Mage when he was on stage during his Naoki's Room segment in december during the JP Fanfest.
Source, another source, and another.
Could you find anything in English please?
Google translate doesn't really give me anything that feels negative:
To me that reads "oooh blue mage is special, I think about running around by myself getting abilities - but in the future it will not be solo exclusive! I think of Blue Mage as "Doctor of monsters!""Quote:
Blue Mage 's learning is amazingly interesting as a collection - like play. I am thinking about playing on the field recently, I think that fighting battle with monster with Blue Mage solo, learning and increasing the action like increasing play will be fun. In the future, it is not a solo exclusive job, but I think that the blue mage is an ant in the standing position like "Monster Dr.".
Sounds like he just talked about how cool Blue Mage is and said it won't be solo only even though he wants to have a lot of solo play. But yeah I'm translating google translate so some serious yolo
Well I'm glad it read like I thought it did, calms myself that he isn't going to go toss it into the bin as "not a real job" job. Also felt quite good that Blue Mage will probably happen, doesn't really say when though so I'm not taking that as "now" just.. its not a no either.
LMAO
Now I know at least one of the people purposefully spreading misinformation.
Just FYI, I speak Japanese fluently... and the only "source" you linked where he even mentions BLU is the first link. And in there, he mentions NOTHING close to what he said in 2014. He talks about how Blue Mages are interesting because of how they defeat monsters to learn abilities, and how when they implement BLU in the future, it won't be a solo-only job because that wouldn't be interesting in an MMO, but it would be more akin to a "Monster Expert" class.
I speak and read it fluently also. Took Japanese for over 16 years since I was a little kid...and I got a bit of different info then that outta it. Also the part where he spoke (not an interview or summary) is in the "Naoki Yoshida Room" segment of the paid stream. He absolutely said we won't be seeing it any time soon.
Well then you clearly don't speak Japanese as well as you think you do then because while the second article doesn't specify Blue Mage, it's still talking about the same moment during the panel, and I don't know how you didn't see 青魔道士(Blue Mage) in the third one either
I have multiple articles saying he said his idea for Blue Mage wouldn't be PT based, and apparently one that said it will be PT based.Quote:
・青魔道士はPTジョブとしてではなく、
lmfao get rekt
While I don't really care to argue if it's the next one or not but with this article it's safe to say the whole "not a real job" thing is just when you exclude the whole picture yeah? At least with the one link Shippuu posted it seemed very clear while he wanted a strong solo component it was NOT going to be only solo.
First, if we're going to compare credentials, I've been speaking Japanese for 20 years and have been living in Japan for 8 years and my wife (who is Japanese) is the one I check with about the paraphrase I wrote above.
I don't have access to the paid stream, but in the three articles Shippuu linked, there were no mentions of anything close to what he said in 2014. I can translate what he said in the first article for you and him if you'd like:
"The collection playstyle of Blue Mage is incredibly interesting. I've been thinking I want to somehow have Blue Mages in the field, and thinking that the type of playstyle involving fighting monsters solo to learn abilities might not be that interesting. In the near future, I'm thinking it won't be a solo-only job [referencing his previous comments from 2014], but there will be a Blue Mage whose role will be more of a "Monster Expert" I think."
Regardless of finer points of translation you might disagree with, nothing he says is at all similar to what he said in 2014. Nothing about it "not being for a long time" or "making it a solo-only class".
I disagree that the evidence is weak and unsubstantial. There are two interviews which he talks directly about the T-Shirt. In both he mentions webs and webbings. The only job in the Final Fantasy series that actually uses webs in any shape or form is Blue Mage. This doesn't mean that Samurai won't happen in Stormblood, but it does mean that the T-Shirt references Blue Mage, not Samurai.Quote:
I'm not denying evidence for Blue Mage, only that the evidence being reached for is weak and unsubstantial in comparison, especially in comparison to Samurai.
I just rechecked the second article, and there was nothing more than a small blurb about NA players speculating about one of the new jobs being Blue Mage and how Yoshida thinks learning gameplay is interesting and was considering making it a solo-only class. Again, nothing about being the distant future, quite the opposite, the near future (将来的).
The third article doesn't even quote Yoshida's words about Blue Mage, just paraphrases (technically, neither does the 2nd), and they even misquote the intended paraphrase. And again, even in the inaccurate paraphrase, it says nothing close to what was said in 2014.
No, you have one article quoting Yoshida's exact words that say that he's thinking it won't be solo-only but will change to more of a "Monster Expert", and you have other articles, one of which references YP's statements from 2014, and another which inaccurately paraphrases what Yoshida said in the interview where the first article makes the correct quote.Quote:
I have multiple articles saying he said his idea for Blue Mage wouldn't be PT based, and apparently one that said it will be PT based.
Can we please just get a sword based DPS class? I've wanted Samurai in the game for awhile but at this point I would take anything.
Hey commented this (and beastmaster) would come in 10 years, this is reported everywhere, even during the reddit live translations by someone I trust far more with the translations than you.
2 of the 3 articles I posted state he said it was going to be a solo job, here's a third (as well as another 10 years one), and a fourth and I'm sure I can dig up more. So considering there's an abundance reporting on him saying he wants it as a solo job, and only a single one saying he said he didn't, you have no place to say anything like which one is the "intended" one, or which one is Yoshida's "exact words".

If y'all speak japanese so fluently, can you find where he said the number of jobs would be related to the Moonfire Faire event?
You have to consider how the game works. You can't have a real solo job if he can't face every challenge by itself...but you can't have a job that can face every challenge by itself when you have a system that revolves around party content...
What would they do, make a special Duty/Raid Finder for Blue Mage with unique bosses ?
Seriously? I frankly can't believe that you are.
Neither of the "sources" you link here are quotes from Yoshida. They are reposts of the same garbage paraphrases you posted before.
You have linked precisely ONE article that shows what Yoshida ACTUALLY SAID and that wasn't a paraphrase/summary and you're attempting to ignore and throw out the only valid source in favor of second hand BS.
What you're doing is exactly like climate change deniers. They ignore what scientists actually say and instead choose to listen to the noisy crackpots that fit their confirmation bias.
Red Mage :')
Uses a Sword as it's primary weapon, it's a sword based DPS. Yes they cast with it, yes they mostly cast... but if I was a Spell Blade I think I would also mostly use the power of magic over my sword and use the sword when only necessary. /shrug
Here is the source of that information. I can't find where in the japanese text it was supposedly said because I have zero understanding of japanese.
I'm not seeing anything in either of the links that guy has on the reddit where YP supposedly talks about number of new jobs being related to the event. The only thing I saw about jobs at all was that the interviewer was trying to get YP to confirm whether Samurai would be in based on what was said in the "Developer's Room" (in game YP character), and YP says that he doesn't know why people choose to believe that when they don't normally trust what he says about other things.
Here is, the second blog post (seems to have been linked wrong in the Reddit thread).
