The Hunt Public Shaming Needs to end

SE should just remove the Hunt system. That would put a stop to all this stupid drama of early pulling, hunt resets, witch hunt/name calling/shaming, etc nonsense. There's far too many bad things to say about the Hunts than there are good (only good things being the rewards, which are NOT worth the hassle).

This is why I never even looked up hunts. I see a LOT of spawn notices in zone, so for a change of pace, "Hey guys need a healer? if so, invite me". It was on one of these runs that I looked at chat and saw, "Oh, hey! I'm getting seals and tomes for these! nice!". So now I just continue about my day and if I see a hunt forming, I'll grab an invite and heal, get some free tomes, disband and . . . . continue my day again.

I also wish i knew why people stressed so much over a pull. The hunts spawn SO friggning much that seals/tomes are practically shoved in your lap if you happen to be in the zone at the time. I get more tomes from just passing through and healing than I do when I'm doing dungeons.

It's because the Hunt offers rewards that upgrade your Poetic gear to i130. That's the only reason why people are even doing Hunts again.

I think it was more to how Kosmos worded their post that made the implications. Again, the way their post was worded implies as such with the use of 'confirmed' repeatedly. There was no formal claim, but I can see why Nyaruko would think so. It was more akin to this statement;

Anyway, with that aside, shaming players is considered harassment, but then again, the reason for the shaming stems from a bad impression on said person. Ever since hunts became relevant again, people are fighting with one another again as they did before when hunts were first released albeit more chaotic than before. Pulling early simply does not exist because that would mean attacking the mob that has yet to even spawn, however, pulling quickly is the term that should be used instead. It's a misunderstanding. Early and Quickly both have completely different meanings. This is simply in context to how it's being used in this topic.

Yet, players still cling to 'early pulling'. It's probably from their own perspective since they do not know if a hunt has been found until someone announces it. I've noticed a trend lately that a lot of players do not call out whether a mark has been found or not. Strictly, this only applies to those who want to keep things as organised as possible so that more people can obtain seals rather than just a small group. It's based on perspective. You see someone call out a mark, and you assume it's just found. Turns out, the mark was found five minutes ago and has been already killed. They were just unfortunate to get the information long after the mark was actually killed. Hence why 'early pulling' does exist in the context of differing perspectives.

What I mean by that is that this implies the level of patience is pretty low for a lot of players. Which is why players are more inclined to harass other players when something doesn't go their way. Sure, pulling quickly is not completely punishable per say, but in the quote from the other topic, the GM does state that, "... And because nothing is black and white, this does not mean that pulling the hunt mark will not result in a grief tactics violation. The circumstances that would cause it are rarer, but not impossible. A GM would make that determination after investigating a report on potential grief tactics," following that they encourage players to wait to give more players a chance at the goodies as well, "As in several of my posts, as a player, I appreciate the players who can get people to wait a bit to give more people a chance to participate."

tl;dr

Personally, I do think that player shaming is pretty unethical no matter what content it stems from. You win some, you lose some. The mark will spawn again eventually. There's literally no rush! It's not like the rewards you get from hunting are going to suddenly magically disappear. :)

So the people who were actively searching for the hunt mob when it spawned at the other end of the zone (or different hunt mob in ANOTHER zone) are MORE selfish than the lazy shits camping the aetherite who then immediately pulled when the mob was announced because they "GOTTA HAVE IT NOW", thus ensuring that the person who was actually working to find the mob got 0 credit?

That's the whole point: all you can do is run there as fast as you can and hope that impatient people are off being eaten by wolves IRL instead of hunting.

There's as much skill in that as being eaten by wolves (which is really just lying there and letting the wolves do all the work).

Sorry, the way the hunts work now, I'm encouraged to build credit before the spawn dies. The best way to do that is to start before too many people show up. Don't hate me; hate the game. I learned a way to play in such a way that ensures I get the full reward.

I say "I", but no one really has to worry about me; I gave up on doing hunts a long time ago when the hunt cartel first started. Honestly, my fix to hunts is for SE to stop funneling people into hunts. There should have been an alternate way to get carbon twine uncapped or the hunt way should have also been capped. I hate hunts, but more than that I hate feeling like I have to hunt just to not hold my team back on progression.

There is not a mechanic that prevents me from seeing what the drop is, that I already have it, dropping the one I have and then Needing. While this could be a form of grief, maybe I need it because the one I have is damaged and I don't want to spend the gil for repairs. Makes it legit in my mind. See, perspective!

Just like how Square did not learn from hunts last time, it seems neither did the players. We literally have come full circle.

I completely agree. Hunts should've never been made the sole source of progress. Scaling HP would fix this, but it would be nice to see a better fix than that.

From when it gets discovered and announced over the LS network.

The problem is that we have a bunch of lazy asses sitting on the aetherite, waiting for someone ELSE to find the mob. As soon as that happens, they go out and pull immediately, thus screwing over everyone who was ACTUALLY looking for a hunt mob in that or another zone.
