The blackest feature in the game isn’t large enough to clean the detritus off of pf. I’d be sharing a master blocklist by now otherwise.
I'm aware but you're completely and utterly missing the teachable moment.
This person claims to understand the TOS chapter and verse, that they are the righteous crusader protecting all children from the big bad adults in FFXIV.
Yet the very essence of harassment in Lawful and terms of service definition is "if consent is not given or withdrawn, that person is now committing harassment"
I withdrew consent, they chose to ignore the fact I had withdrawn it, that is the lawful definition of harassment no matter how "petty" you think it is, it's there in black and white, taught to all employees in all business across the globe.
So they were exposed as a fraud, one that quite frankly is a hypocrite that would happily bend or break the rules to suit themselves.
Be careful, the people you elevate onto a pedestal.
If he is so willing to break something as simple as consent, what other rules would he be willing to break?
Is there a darker reasoning behind why he's constantly going on about minors?
I would never surmise that, but when he breaks one simple rule in front of the community, it makes you wonder if he "doth protest too much"
Nah people do it because it is a perfectly sensible thing to do, with failing to do so having dire consequences potentially.
So your approach is to just use the Blacklist functionality and ignore the overarching problem. Not only that then resorting to highlighting the use of a third party in order to address a problem that need I might say is against the Terms of Service.
Well .. Simple solution then thry create more worlds but.. Only allow access to some of those words for people who link a driver license or state id and pay by credit card basically. We nedd more worlds the game is rated for such subjects so might as well do it
Just because you might not care about the vulnerable players in this game, doesn't mean the rest of us are the same. If you're not deeply concerned that vulnerable players might be subject to creepy advances by grown men and women who want to get off, I don't know what to tell you.
No one is defending that. I realize you are a troll, so I am fighting you with your own medicine. YOu made it about this. You and your sock puppet account are projecting, or being a forum troll to get a reaction out of people (if so well done it actually worked)
The game is fantasy if somehing says 18 plus...
Noone is being exploited .. If they lie and say there over 18... Then rlly thats noonrs fsukt but there own.. Jumping a gun and assuning ppl dont rlly to make sure people are 18 plus 4 it.. To best of their abilitys.
If they say they are 18 then .. Sorry if its cold but honestly.. I dont care i dont erp but still if someone goes out of there way to make sure and its lie after lie .. Then i dont give a damn thats on them and parents plus the entire thing is virtusl fantasy so.. If you want to protect them dobt let them play a mmo until they turn 18 lol
Forgive me if I don't believe that everyone posting concerns of children are being entirely genuine. When you're totally cool with actual innocent role-players getting thrown under the bus along with a few bad eggs, forgive me if I call bollocks on your concern for the kids. Since this whole issue has went far beyond people advertising ERP venues. People who were advertising all-ages venues and even a dude who just wanted to talk to someone while fishing all got hit... In general, I don't think it's a good idea to be cool with people who are not guilty to be punished along with people actually doing bad things.
And this is coming from someone who absolutely believes that ERP venues shouldn't public advertise.
What is the overarching problem? People using the Party Finder to meet people? 'cause as mentioned... This goes beyond ERP.Quote:

18+ doesn't mean ERP. And there's plenty of free companies that have 18+ requirements, too. Should those be banned from the game, too? Don't get me wrong. I'm entirely against ERP being advertised in the Party Finder. I also don't really see the point of an 18+ RP venue since a lot of the stuff that you'd think you'd need it for, you really don't... Since it's all content in game. But a lot of the "think of the children" crap some people say seems like something some people bring up since they thing role-players are weird.
you never get banned just for using ACT. That's why you don't see streamers banned for it even though they have it open on the screen broadday. And I never said there's literally 0 overlap between rpers and raiders but like... even in this thread I have seen mad rpers response basically be "go back to doing your savage waaaaah!" (running content is a bad thing now? lmao) but I haven't seen a single person say "this is what you rp people get it's your guys fault that we're not getting an ultimate next patch!!" which seems to be a narrative i've seen some people trying to push, like the one I was responding earlier to
The response to that would be "Keep them off the internet" or "monitor their internet use".
You don't dump your kids unattended in the middle of the internet where they can be reached by perverts or have access to porn, do you?
And if you do it speaks more about you as a parent than it does about the other adult players using a game. Which again has already been rated to warn parents that it will contain references to violence, alcohol, tobacco, sexual themes, blood, and where online interactions ARE NOT RATED, which would expose them to things you don't want them to.
If you're worried about kids then read the labels of the games you're letting them play and don't let them on the internet unescorted. Period.
I have a genuine and thorough concern for it due to my role outside of online to do with my career, so yes, genuine concern for it. Granted, I may have been a little denigrate with the original RP'rs yesterday, but I am still a strong advocate that either the Fellowship Finder (granted it should be better) a specific subsection on the PF for RP.
I am inclined to agree with the sentiment that it isn't right for attacking people for seeking genuine social avenues, especially in times of hardship such as these, but alas, it's just unfortunate that the bad apples are lumped in with the good ones.
The overarching problem is that people are subjected to unsolicited advertisements, which can potentially expose them to vulnerable situations than they otherwise would be subjected to, especially for potentially mature content in a public space on the Party Finder. When the Terms state that you should otherwise act in accordance with the minimum age group in the game, particularly as it pertains to public spaces, you should abide by such a guideline. Whether or not this goes beyond simple ERP is irrelevant. It's a problem all the same.
It's pretty disturbing to see so many people label any concerns about erotic role-play as 'moral panic' and 'manufactured outrage'. There's been some pretty touching insight from victims of abusive individuals who have spoken up within this very thread and the argument that people are 'projecting' is rather bizarre.
It shouldn't be rocket science as to why a lot of people simply do not want to see advertisements in the party finder for explicit interactions between players who, in many cases, cannot guarantee that they are of legal age. A lot of people have even stated that it's one thing if such matters are out of sight and behind closed doors...yet that isn't enough for some and now they seem to want to have it be a badge of honour that they can parade around.
I'm of the mind now that the worst protesters are projecting at this point, they're not protecting children from a boogeyman, they need to do something "virtuous" to hide something horrible they've done themselves.
The RP community will clean itself up, these people still shouting loudly if social media has taught us anything need to be watched very carefully because let me too you this.
I would never ever let my nephews play this game without supervision from my brother or myself, they are minors and as a responsible adult and their Aunt, I'd make it my business using my knowledge of the community to ensure they are never exposed to anything they shouldn't be.
I've been stalked, harassed and had attempted grooming attempts put upon me.
Let me tell you, not one of them came from the RP community itself, they came from outside of it.
Eh, if a minor sees a brothel advertise of Party Finder, and are curious... They'll absolutely go and check in out. If only out of morbid curiosity. Some would even do it because they are horny. When I was a teenager, I was mostly a "good kid". But I absolutely got a hold of comic books and movies that sure as hell weren't made for my age group. And while I think a lot of people who are screaming "think of the children" are being totally disingenuous... I don't necessarily think the best argument against folks like that are counter-accusations or pretending that it's still not not at least a gray area in the TOS to advertise in game brothels in the Party Finder.
I'm a role-player. I'd RP a hell of a lot more than I do if Primal was more of a hotbed and once the whole data-center visit comes out... You can bet your gil I'm going to be doing it a hell of a lot more than I do now. And as a role-player on Primal... I can assure you that this did happen, in part because of certain brothels clogging up the party finder. It's 100% messed up that a GM didn't seem to realize there's a difference between a brothel ad a casual RP venue and that bit absolutely needs to be addressed... And 100%, SfW and even non-sexually explicit 18+ RP should get thrown under the bus with the rest. But we need to understand that there are bad eggs.
I've witnessed a kid get sent sexually explicit material, and it turns out she was being groomed by that person, an adult moderator on a pixelmon server, she was 14. It was disgusting, and the guy got banned for it when we found out about it.
I was abused and neglected as a kid, and I can tell you, for sure there's vulnerable kids out there desperately seeking social interaction, good or bad, with parents who don't give a fuck.
Is it so wrong that I don't want vulnerable kids exposed to this stuff?
Just because I am aware of this stuff, and don't want it happening to others, doesn't mean I am doing something "virtuous" to hide something, it's a matter of principle.
I just genuinely think that you shouldn't sent sexually explicit material to someone when you cannot know for certain that they are of age. Especially in a game where people know minors play.
First off, I don't RP, I refuse to due to past experiences.
Secondly, I'm a sexual assault survivor. I was abused countless times in junior high while on campus as a minor if you THINK I think it's morally justifiable to subject minors to anything you're so far off-base that it's painful for me to read. The simple fact is as someone whose been PUT THROUGH that kind of situation, I've learned that while it IS a possibility, it's not the norm. It's so far from the norm that it hurts to think about even now.
Through years of self therapy and the support of others I've learned that not everyone is sick enough in the head to think that way and if you're accusing others of it with no justifiable reasoning then you have deep-seated mental issues that go far and beyond the literal trauma, social anxiety and real life issues I deal with to this very day due to my past experiences. I don't leave my house, I have panic attacks in grocery stores or down store aisles—I suffer daily because of the things I experienced, but thanks for mislabeling me as an immoral predator.
Your arguments are the same things that once came from the mouths of those who exploited me, so forgive me if I think you're the disgusting one and that you are projecting your own twisted fantasies—because that's the more realistic expectation here.
God forbid someone whose been through this kind of experience give a realistic outlook and viewpoint based on their own personal experiences.
Stop trolling, get help and move on in life.
You're not protecting anyone anywhere by being a keyboard warrior and acting like you have a moral high ground in a discussion that has been manufactured and veered off-topic to give you that position.
As someone who's been part of role-play communities for a very long time... Yep. Most people are chill. There's been a handful of weird people I've met over the years, but most aren't like that. I *do* however think that maybe venues explicitly designed foor ERP shouldn't be advertised in the Party Finder... And that happened on Primal... But while I could understand that being concerning, being totally cool with everyone else being thrown under the bus suggests you care less about "the children" and more about getting those weird people playing pretend out of your hair since you think they are weirdos.
GMs already came back with a statement that things are okay, and people are getting strikes removed.

edit:
Lot of people divulging personal info in this thread that is not appropriate to the topic at hand. Mods wanna lock this badboy down?
Correction, scroll down to the bottom of this page and notice the ESRB label.
It does say "Sexual Themes" not "suggestive" anymore. And by the ESRB page definition of "Sexual Themes" it says they're "References to sex or sexuality". So that poledancer chick, she's not only dancing.
It also says "Online Interactions Not Rated by the ESRB". So you may think the game is rated T for teens (if you let your teens play games with sexual themes, and alcohol and tobacco use, and violence and blood) but the online interactions are NOT rated.
Thus if you were to play this game alone and offline (which can't be played offline) then sure, it is for Teens...
But the moment its online and those teens interact with other people then its not really a game for Teens anymore.

Who broke AncientWillow?
This reminds me of the Hunie-Pop intro between the Mexican Chick and the Junkie.
I'm honestly shocked. I've been posting here for years and I've never seen so much hostility within a thread for quite some time now. It's really not a great look for the FFXIV community.
So is this the first big drama bit in the end of expansion lull? If so, HI I'M POSTING IN THIS THREAD BEFORE IT GETS LOCKED! 8)
Starting to feel like it would have been best for the GM to lock this topic after their reply.
There's no use keeping it open and if people want to discuss the potential issue of minors being groomed/involved in things they shouldn't be, I feel that's best done in a dedicated topic rather than steering every single RP related topic in that direction.
It's counter-productive and is exactly why people have fought back against it.
It's a legitimate topic and one that merits discussion, but you do no favors for anyone by demonizing RPers in a topic like this.
Because nobody corrected this earlier and is just running on memory... it's not your character in the bikini (which would go over interestingly with some players) but Suzume. You're fully clothed and really just there so you see the scene play out.
As for the Beehive... we get the context, and can either like it or feel uncomfortable about it because of what we know it's hinting at. But for what is actually on-screen, a kid could go in and out and not realise it's anything more than a theatre where people are dancing on stage.
