The only issue I would have with this, is that you're using demo immediately right after the first demo, you're going demo -> snap -> snap -> DK -> Tws --> Demo. The only benefit I can see with that is that youll get battle litany and trick attack(assuming you have any of them in your party)buffs for that demo, but at the cost of half if not a little more of the whole demo ticking potency, I dont think its worth that.
About openers, I personally feel that openers are important and one should optimize it as best as possible but if its within 25-50 potency of the best one, that will do, whatever feels smooth to you.
You can use this video as reference if you want. To either note down what I do or you can link the video in your main post.
Only thing to note is my bard and I are generally aoe heavy and he sings a nice amount of paeon to sustain us both. Hold back aoe on a few waves if you find tp being a strain. Kill times will vary where you can aoe tremendously. Look at my ACT overlay for where aoe benefits me the most and take out the less beneficial aoes to sustain yourself.
i think i disagree with this. I RB all of wave 2-4 and use PB to spam RB on wave 4. I also RB on wave 7(4 dolls) unless i screwed my tp regen or i didn't get a goad. Then Wave 8 and 9 i RB very little. On 8 because our stack usually isn't tight enough for it to be very effective and on 9 we use lb.

Guys a quick question about MNK dps in A1S. What should be our dps up to 1st jump?
Thanks
EDIT: >iLV196<
I honestly think its fine nothing wrong with 1350. I think if you're at 1300-1320(which was why I commented about the 1300-1350 ilv 198 comment) with ilvl 202 theres probably something not being optimized or really low crit RNG, but 1350(1340-1350 consistently) in my opinion is good with average crit rate. I'm at ilvl 201(ill have hands in 2 weeks if I get no drops again) and I can hit 1370s with high crits or medium and lucky crits(as in the majority of those crits are on the right abilities).
Thank you Zamii.
I have a somewhat different rotation from what I see mostly used.
What do you guys think about it?
DK > TwinS > SP > Fracture > ToD >
BS > TrueS > DM >
DK > TwinS > SP > Fracture >
BS > TrueS > DM > REPEAT
Basically instead of doing 1 Demolish every 3 Coeurl Forms I do it every 2, since I use fracture and demolish is almost off every two stance rotations.
That feels horribly low, at ilvl 202 youll probably be roughly around 12-13% crit rate alone. Internal release and boot shine are going to increase your crit average even higher. 35% seems absurdly high, 35% is something you'd get with a dragoon's battle litany, or maybe your crit RNG rolled a 20....
I'm curious where you are reading your crit values on the app...
My crit averages around 24% right now. 22% is low for me right now, and my highs are 27-29%. I had 1370 at 29% crit and 1372.8 at 26% go figure...
my rotation is: form shift x3> ST> Demo > PB> Snap P> B4B> Snap P> Internal R> DK (pot)> TWS> Snap P> EF> HF> TOD> FC> BS> SP>TS>Demo
i could go through the whole mathed out how much potency you lose, etc etc, but you should just take my word for it.
your loosing a substantial amount of potency from clipping your demolishes, as well as loosing your DK and twin snakes buff on one of the reapplications.
on top of that, your TP usage will be significantly higher due to the more frequent use of fracture.
i know the ideal rotation can take quite a bit of getting used to, but its definitely worth practicing, if nothing else you would actually be better off dropping fracture entirely and just using demo every 3 rotations.
You're going to hate me now! Hands dropped, bringing it to 203 now, did like 10 rounds, hit 1403 for 2 of them as my highest out of the 10, rest were 1380s with one being 1365 or something like that at 21%(low crit %) The highs had crit of 28% the rest were 24-26%. I know I can spike higher with 30% crit, I had one with 30% but its when I swapped around to ilvl 202 for more acc(as Ill probably have to use this set until legs drop for more accuracy).
I see that you went to ilvl 204 ,grats! What are the numbers looking like for you now?
Well yesterday, during Savage A1 i gave it my absolute all watching my DPS up to first jump including Tornado Kick. I was 1400+ Think it was like 1410. My crit average was 29%. So im pretty happy my work is starting to pay off! Yet on the dummy i maintain 1350 - 1400ish based on crits as per ususal. No crits around 1350,crits push me to 1400 or above xD Keep in mind im not using a pot during Savage A1S as i feel its just not needed. as does the rest of my group. Was a good day yesterday being top dps, out dpsing the DRG and SMN. Only in A2S was the SMN out dpsing me, but i could not maintain a 1600+ dps. My highs was around 1800 thanks to PB > DK > TwS > RBx as much as i can fit in lol. Overall average was 1500. Yet i see MNK's doing 2k+ Not sure how to be honest lol
Whats your opener?
Yea for As2 I'm around 1500-1600 without food/pots or drg/nin, but I have to get in the robot by double mega spider spawn so I don't know what my dps would be through out the run. We have a temp dragoon now but doesn't matter as I have her dps and just do robot since I already have that down. My aoe rotation is far from optimal though, I know I could squeeze out way more dps if I bothered to.
Also the 2000 dps monks for As2, I'm assuming you're referring to the FFlogs or BG leader boards ? They're all sporting 210 weapons and are in 208-210 ilvls. The only one that I know of that isn't sporting the 210 is Olivia Sen, but shes full 210 outside of that so 208+ 200 weapon. That is 36 extra str from your ilvl gear with +2 dmg and whatever else extra stat difference there is. That is roughly 57 stat weight points already against you(without factoring secondaries), don't worry mate, you'll get to that dps when you get the gear~
My group started so late on starting savage due to looking for a good dps spot to fill, but no luck so we took in a smn that was horrible and while they improved they were still sub par compared to other smns at that ilvl and even more subpar in attitude, they left thankfully, sadly during as3 progression, but I have drg friend that would temp join til one of our member's family got geared up(they just started playing and would like to raid with eachother so theres that), so our progression hasnt been halted thankfully.
I've tried a few but i fine for timing purposes the 3.0 opener is great. It pushes me back to flack as that green liquid attack takes place (sorry brain dead after gym atm....). It is:
ST > DM > PB > SP (B4B) > SP (IR) > TwS (StP) > DK (HF) > SP (EF), (ToD), (FC) > BS > TrS > DM
Modifiers:
If using pot i replace this with StP. StP then comes after BS
If you have Astro and have Arrow cast on you, after TrS i Fracture > DM as you have the time for this
As for A2S Im asked to gimp my DPS either way as it throws the tanks cool down rotation out the window lol.
i206 here with i210 weapon and tbh it's all about sustain and maintaining 5 stacks on main priority targets at all times. Last wave can equal a lot of dps gains if aoed down correctly and then double dotting the widows with 5 stacks up. Just gotta make sure you're always attacking something with 5 stacks which goes without saying.
does anyone know, if A3 when he changes phases, is it HP% based? or is it just timed?
I'm asking because I want to try and time the phase just before he becomes a watery tornado and you kill adds, so that the last move I hit the double hand phase with is Snap Punch. So that way I can form shift back to snap punch, to use on the first add that shows up so I can keep my GL3. I've kept it a few times. But I'm not 100% sure when the phase is going to change.
If anyone knows thanks in advanced.
If it's timed, I'm gonna start using a stop watch to know when the phase is changing. if It's HP% basically all I have to do is feel for when it's about to drop to that %.
A3S is completely timed, minus a small deviation you can do by forcing the hands to clap inwards to force the phase change quicker.
Then again, I have seen the boss immediately enrage after the final normal Cascade, and I have seen the boss do magnets into stomps before enraging, so there is something weird when it comes to that.
A lot of bosses enrage at a specific timestamp but you can throw off the rotations for some in various ways. Or maybe sometimes they throw themselves off (our second A4 clear had worse DPS than our first clear, in part because between one of the leg breaks the Manipulator decided it wouldn't show up for like half its mini-phase).
Thanks again Zamii for your tips.
I used the 1/3 demo rotation last time and my dps got higher (912dps @8% with 3 jumps Vs. 840dps after 1st jump). And I can still get better since I am of course not used to new rotation and made many mistakes.
Btw I was not loosing TS or DK with old rotation, but still using new one helped a lot
Anyhow, that's the old way, now I'm on a new one lol
So what is the ideal rotation now? The first or second one posted on the first page, or something different?
Using ossom's opener.. I had more higher dps spike on it than the rest. However, our openers main goal is just getting gl3 up asap so i wouldnt worry about it too much.. In the end you just need to sustain your dps as much as possible.
I use lilyth's its roughly even with ossom's opener in potency last I check but I like the feel hers has, so I use that currently. Someone had a TK opener that potency wise was really strong for an opener because they moved a few abilities around and were able to sneak in a fracture all of this boosting up the spike to compensate for the GL3 loss, but after like 20 parses or so with it, it was still doing less than the other 2 openers. Maybe I just needed more time adjusting to it.
<3 Purification lol
I'm coming back to that monk life boiz, like 2 more weeks :D
Hey people! I have a question and I figured I'd ask here rather than making a new thread about it. I'm currently levelling my MNK (58) at the moment, and while running The Vault, I was wondering what the optimal Perfect Balance "opener" would be when you already have GL3.
I ask this because during the first and second bosses The Vault, I don't use Perfect Balance before they transform, so I have GL3 and Perfect Balance still ready for use after they transform.
So far I've been getting into Coeurl Form and going:
Demolish -> Dragon Kick -> (B4B) ->Twin Snakes -> (IR) -> Snap Punch -> (Pot) -> Touch of Death -> (PB) -> BootShine -> (EF) -> BootShine -> (HF) -> BootShine -> (Steel) -> BootShine -> (ST) -> Snap Punch -> (tFC) -> BootShine -> Twin Snakes -> Demolish -> Normal Rotation.
Not sure if this is optimal, but I tried a few things and this is what I came too. Would it be better to just do my regular opener on the bosses small form anyway?
I don't know if I get it for sure.
You have GL3 ready after they transform, and perfect balance? If that's the case, you might as well pop PB before they transform in such a case.
If you feel a risk of dropping GL3, you save it.
I guess you mean that you save it in case it drops. But then you didn't lose GL3 so you now have a free PB cooldown you don't know what to do with?
As a damage cooldown, I don't think many people bother with PB for that purpose.
At least for me, if that was the case I'd not use PB at all during the encounter.
I'd instead use it on the trash afterwards for rock breaker spam, which should be give more damage than what you would've gotten on the boss anyway.
Welcome Back :3
I'm personally getting bored of Monk. I wanna be a BLM or MCH but I just don't have the time to level it and I doubt I can play any job as decently as I can play monk. At this point I don't even have to think about what GCD to use or when my oGCDs are up its the same thing every pull like clockwork. I need something new.
Play dragoon lol it's fun and rewarding.
So we cleared A2S guys, and at ilvl 195 I was around 1520 dps by the end (thanks to not using so many rockbreakers as I was before, I'm assuming). Now that we are going to A3S, I am scouring google and these pages (104 pages is a bit much!), but have not seen an outline of monk tactice for A3S. Namely:
1) When to use mantra (saw a nin opener that said to use in the beginning https://m.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comment...savage_strats/)
2) Are there any time lapses between phases where I can TK, or is GL3 up forever?
-subquestion: if gl3 can stay up forever, will using a TK-->PB on a hand which needs to be lowered do some serious burst damage? Or no?
3) Is this a fight where I will be purifying, FC-ing, or both?
Thank you!
