I think they mean their +3s and rare ex gears. the hq, because they dont want to destroy it, and the rare ex because it wont actually be able to make materia.

Hey Rein, I remember seeing a post where a dev talked about Arcanist and compared it to Geomancer. Do you remember this post or know where it is? I can't find it anywhere. :(
I could have dreamed it though..
Right, when I said sub-par, I didn't mean you have to gimp yourself...just use older gear from the last 10 levels or so. Or for me, I can switch out my [item=5030108]Astaroth Cane[/item] for my old [item=5030205]Jade Crook[/item].
I just wanted to note the difference between current high-leveled characters and new players, or people starting out in a new class. Whereas we'll be going back and making a concerted effort to go and grind for Materia (potentially having to buy even more gear in the process if we happened to sell our old Jade Crooks, for example... /tear), new players won't really need to experience this grind, since they can continuously turn each of their weapons into Materia to attach to their next weapon.
Your second part brings up a good point though. Of course, it depends on which weapons will yield certain Materia, but once the system is figured out I'm sure most people will in fact start buying the cheapest weapons they can to achieve the same results. Why turn a Jade Crook into Materia IV, for example, when a cheaper weapon will yield the same results? It'll be interesting to see if they accounted for that.
Quotations forthcoming (hopefully soon). Yoshi-p left two more comments this morning. (Please use the auto-translate function)(Can I have it?)
Looking forward to translations.
One post seems to be about the japanese name of attachment, but the other seems to have some details on the Materia system (Google translate seems to 100% confirm that materia can't be attached to Rare/Ex gear but it might be doable in further updates, that players will be able to attach the first materia themselves with kits, etc ...).
woo exactly 200 translations now on this thread (aside from interview tranlsations I posted) yay :)
Didn't even think it was 200 yet lol, was just like ooh went over 1000 posts so lemme check how many is actual translation and counted the OP stuff and with todays post was exactly 200 lol.
Anyways... useless info lol
Or maybe people can't read... ._.Quote:
(maybe my explanation previously was bad)
JP side has a thread requesting to be able to sell all/multiple items at once, kind of like what MOST MMORPG has already you bring the items you want to sell into sell box, or just click and select multiple items and click sell and it sells everything at once... stuff like that. Rep responded to this one so here goes.

Server... /facepalm
still waiting for the server fix =/
Starting to get worried the server issues will be the new PS2. Makes you wonder if the foundation this game is build on is not solid. Having to sell items to npcs is a common task and shouldn't be so slow and non-responsive. I hope they can overcome some of this bizarre architecture.
Im now 100% sure SE can not fix the server. Its made in a way that it will never happen. i really am.... (of course i do not know anything about it but im starting o worry)
I think they should move their focus from gameplay to Server UL fixes Because we can not do anything inill its fixed...

GREEN CHOCOBO DO WANT. MAKE IT HAPPEN SE. ALSO CHOCO METEOR BWAHAHAHA
Wow! There was a lot of new info in that last one! Raising Chocobos? Chocobo knights? Other mounts? I hope we get our Cobyln mounts soon!
Seems like SE may benefit from hiring consultants to address the client/server communication issues that they keep explaining as being "road blocks" to addressing various issues.
wait so different color chocobo can get different abilities similar like in ff7? that is so cool
Well if that is the case, they need to get their priorities straight. These server issues are the bane of the game's existence and are holding back so many improvements it's not even funny anymore.
They DID mention several times they were working on it, but it's been months since last time and honestly I'm really doubting they're going to do anything about it at all at this point.
It's mind boggling how they've let this go on for so long.
It will get fixed...at some point lol. I'm patient, so it doesn't bother me as much as it seems to bother most other people.
btw I love your sig
SE's team have MULTIPLE teams implementing many different aspects of the game. I'm sure there is a server development team that has been working the whole time but may just wait on implementation till PS3. SE is very good at listening to us and are aware of their limitations. But come on, rebuilding a server from scratch cannot be easy.
It bothers me mainly because it's one of those things they mentioned and talked about so much, only to completely disappear and never talk about it again, as if we're going to forget about it.
I like the direction the game is going in and I think 1.19 will be great, but their attitude on some of these issues is ridicolous and I'm really not liking what they're doing about things (or worse, what they're NOT doing).
You can't tease us about stuff like public companies, party crafting and loads of things that only "server fixes" would allow and then never talk about it again.
If I were evil enough I would go as far as to say that "server fixes" are the ultimate scapegoat of either an incompetent dev team or just a lazy staff in general.
In fact I'm going to go ahead and say that's the case.
Thanks for the compliment btw.
Yeah. And the even bigger challenge will be seamlessly transferring the current system over to the new system. Since character wipes have been rules out, everything from the old system has to be preserved, and the switch-over has to be unnoticeable to the players. I am sure it is no easy engineering feat, especially for a team used to making games, not server software.
Unfortunately all we can do is watch and see what happens. I believe everything will come together in the end ^^
Someone start a Server-related thread and hope we can get some feedback from devs.
This is a quote from Famitsu someone posted on my thread about /equip macros - thought it might apply.
Famitsu: What kind of measures is being taken for inventory space as with armory system you will require to carry a lot of equipment?
Yoshida: might say not that again, but this will be after repairs to the root. Plan is already made but will need to be changed along with swapping the UI. Will try to make it by PS3 release but currently can’t give exact date on it yet.
Famitsu: What kind of system will it be?
Yoshida: Planning to give information through the forum regarding this but, for image being able to one touch to change gear that was set previously. The plan is to make it so it doesn’t take inventory space like crazy. Looking closely regarding this one.
It was more a comment on how SE seems to be working on "root" / server communications for the ps3 release.
Fix the servers SE, ffs...god damn.
How many times must the players request it? Should be the top of the list by this point since so many people complain about it.
I know server programming takes a lot of time and work so pretty sure they are working on it full on and it's not like they just swap one part and it's over since they have to keep on monitoring and updating the codes for the program. Only thing I really want for them is to release some type of road-map that explains what they are working and their goals for estimate even if it doesn't happen by then what they would like to make it happen by X month.
Differnt color chocobos Please! Give me red or black!
what are they doing with server ...... all this time ...?
And YoshiP posts again at 3:40AM... lol time for me to translate
co-worker at work sick today so I gotta help her stuff first so might take a while to translate, we'll see :)
