Was referring to the fact that it wasn't for sure going to be used, and alot of people aren't a fan of the track this time around (Yet its my fav^^) :P

I run everything on max and get 60 fps according to Fraps, which runs very smooth, I wonder how much of a visual hit i am going to take with it being moved to 30 fps :/
It's an option...
Pretty sure you guys already saw the video but here's the chocobo video post JP rep posted along with the video (first of the upcoming series of videos for 1.19 - Rep also said can't say how many more vids there are 'yet')

2 posts from YoshiP regarding the chocobo video that was posted earlier, I'll stick these two in same post since it's related and small posts.
He also mentions about 3D sickness from riding the chocobo.
So it's going through QA already huh 2 weeks + 3 days for 1.19??? maybe earlier :D :D :D
I say 9/26-9/30 is 1.19... i hope lol
I must say this is the first time one of Yoshida's post has made me kinda angry.
I have not been playing the game since release, thankfully, but I know the bumpy animation fix has been a request since release. Did we really needed to wait until their QA team said they were dizzy while riding chocobos for them to fix this? and thats not to say they are only looking for a fix for the chocobo ride only, leaving the other one as is....
QA means ?
quality assurance
Oh... QA just gave FF14 a new theme...

CANNOT WAIT FOR CHOCOBOS
Very curious to see what happens when you try ride in town (if its not been confirmed that you just depop from it if you try).
Loving the chocobos, ofc only issue is the whole popping up from no where stuff, effeciency be kind of cool but i expected some kind of animation, i am sure this is a temp solution though. I love their running animation and what not, though not sure why its taken long to implement, maybe collision thing as their run animations and models have no changed since day 1. Strange but im sure there is a reason.
WTH it's 4 AM in Japan and YoshiP is posting...
man they seriously need to sleep!!! Probably affecting quality, would rather stuff be delayed 2-3 weeks if it means they get to sleep that much more XD
Part 2... went over 10k text limit... on the first one....

Details of effect of materias which has been made.
In patch 1.19 there are about 80 different types of materia being implemented.
Within those various effects can be obtained such as materia which has INT up or materia which has STR+VIT up. The 80 different types of materia is not randomly created from every weapon/gear there is a pattern to them. (For example INT up materia will not be made from sword or axes.)
Difference between Materia I and Materia IV
Using HP up materia as example here.
HP up materia I/II/III/IV
Effect: Max HP up.
Possible location to attach the materia: shield/body/legs/feet/waist (all 5 parts)
Maximum increase total: +280
Materia IV's maximum effect: +28
The difference between materia I and Materia IV will be amount of Max HP it will increase.
For example Materia I is +5 cap while Materia IV has +28 cap.
Also when Materia IV is made, it doesn't mean it is always HP+28.
There are times where HP+24 and such will be made.
Parts you can attach/remove materias from.
Materias can be attached to the following 7 parts
Weapon (main tool/shield) / head / body / hands / legs / feet / waist
For equipment which doesn't have any materia attached, no matter what type of materia the first one will succeed 100%.
In order to attach you will need the catalyst item which gatherers can obtain.
When removing the materia from weapon (main tool)/gear the materia will break.
Maximum cap for materia effect.
For materia craft you can attach to multiple parts, and using the forbidden materia craft it's possible to attach many materias.
For that reason, each parameters have a set "max/cap" (for example Maximum HP cap total is capped/maxed at +280)
Success rate for forbidden materia craft
For forbidden materia craft success rate is placed, the rate will be different when attaching the 2nd one or 3rd one, also depending on the item you attach the materia onto being HQ or not will also affect this rate, at same time when attaching Materia IV the success rate will be low and on top of that depending on the type of materia you have previously will also affect the rate. This is all calculated on the system end and the success rate will be displayed before crafting.
lastly,
The concept and method for materia craft is as mentioned above.
We will introduce and give more information on the types of materia, amount, or which parts are crafted through lodestone.
Materia craft system is complex and there are many types of materias made from different equipment and rate and effect will vary as well.
For all you crafters, would like it if you can listen to your LS member or other players demands and be able to help them coordinate the looks and power using materia craft.
Also, for future of materia craft, along with improvements to crafter/gatherer we will expand this content, so after hearing your feedbacks after patch 1.19 we will continue to develop this system!
My gut tells me I don't like having all those attachment points, but I guess it will depend on how long it takes to make a materia. I mean, if it takes long, materia will be expensive as hell. There really is no farming in this game so not sure when you build up affection on gear to create materia but I guess the devil is in the details as they say.
mmk done... let me know parts I should fix up or having hard time to understand and I'll try to fix it up... or just wait for Bay to post the official one with better translation :)
Good stuff - thanks Reinheart!
Once again Reinhart, your efforts are much appreciated. Thank you!
in and of itself, sounds interesting
Sounds like some were correct in assuming that your crab bow +3 will be at risk as well as the materia should you try and jam 5 materia into it.
Sounds like a nice system to keep people busy, especially the min-maxers who want just that "Bit more" than a raid item can offer.
Only question I got for YoshiP and reps for this one is the 80 different types of materia... are they considering the same stat but different HQ being 2+ more items or they considered as 1 item.
STR+ Materia I
STR+ Materia II
STR+ Materia III
STR+ Materia IV
would that be 4 different items or they considering them as one STR+ materia with 4 version (NQ and 3 HQ)
Depending on that it would mean if all different then even if its 80 materia it's actually 20 different stats (which is still fine lol) STR, VIT, DEX, PIE, MND, INT, Attack, Accuracy, Elemental status (earth, wind, fire, water, thunder, ice, dark, light), HP/MP max, ???, ??? - but seems like they have materia which gives both STR+VIT... mmmm this is gonna require lots of testing to figure out the pattern unless SE gonna give hints on what types of equipment turns into what materia lol
Oh well I guess gotta wait for official post through the topics ww
Sounds exciting to me! Can't wait. I can see getting into this big time and having a reason to log in. Gathering catalysts, gaining attachment points, learning the new crafting techniques, generating and/or buy/selling materia and catalyses.
This is a fully fledge system we are getting. We don't get those everyday. So for that, i am ver happy.
Only thing I don't like about materia system is it encourages you to wear junk over good gear, because no one wants to sit and kill mobs for hours to make materia. I'm going to end up crafting in junk and turning it into materia instead of using my Dodore Doublet.
Going off the fact I can gather or craft about 1.5mil in 3 hours on average and you can only turn 7 pieces into materia at a time I'm expecting materia to cost around 200k in effort. Demand for the trash gear you're turning into materia will go up too so a piece of grade 4 materia could set you back maybe 300-400k.
On the plus people with half a billion gil finally have something to spend it on and that gil will re-enter the economy. I'm undecided how much I will throw at it. I think I'll start off playing it safe, make a plan of action for optimal setup vs cost and then dive into it. By then people running materia bots overnight will have hopefully brought down materia prices enough to gamble on those +5s.
Saved by Bay, official translation for the materia craft :) http://goo.gl/arD1Y
I was wondering the same thing. If the HQ and NQ are counted separately in the 80, then just thinking of the 6 physical stats...
6 [stats] x 2 [HQ/NQ] x 4 [Grades] = 48
...of the 80. Add to that HP/MP and elemental stats and you'd go way over 80 with the above formula, heh. So maybe they're counted as one - which would be cool because then that only accounts for 72 of the 80 with respect to the 6 physical stats, Atk/Acc, element stats, and HP/MP. Hmmmm...
One thing's for sure, 1.19 will definitely be exciting!~
This^^ ... Gonna be worse in pugs now too with people wearing worse gear just so they can "materia" them later >.< ... and for me personally I'll have to end up buying ALL my materia because I don't like performing crappy in party or otherwise xD
Should get attachment points that you can spend on any equipment, kinda like a currency that builds up as you fight! rather then being specific to only what you're wearing :P
I don't mind the thought of wearing some sub-par gear to do some farming in. I wouldn't grind materia in party but a few peices of gear might end up maxed out either way and replaced with the same item when it's maxed out.
The whole point of this system is to have a connection with your armor the armor that YOU want not just for stats because the materia may make up for the loss on the "crappy" gear deemed by other players. I am for this system and will wear gear that I like and grind materia to make it better than yours >O)
Exactly. Yes, this system kinda sucks for people who already have one or more classes to rank/level 50 because it means we'll have to go back and grind in sub-par gear, but you have to think of it from the perspective of new players.
For them, being able to transition your old gear into materia will be a very smooth, intuitive process that happens as they level up, not something they have to go back and grind. The same will hold true for experienced players once more new content comes out. :p
Just to point out something to all the people complaining about others wearing "crapy" gear to grind materia. They won't be able to grind truly crappy gear very well. Since max spirit link progression happens when you're at optimal and the higher the level gear the better the materia, this will make sure people wear level apropriate gear at least when they grind for materia. Sure they won't be wearing their "leet sword of uberness", but at least they should be well equipped if they want fast solid results.
Besides the place where you want the truly buff gear is in NM/HNM/Dungeon parties, it's not absolutely necessary for your standard grind parties. Not to mention that it gives rank 50's a reason to come party with the rank 43-49s.
The biggest thing this does is give crafters a market for gear on a continuous basis. Since the existing gear goes bye bye when you convert it into materia, this means that people will want to either buy specific pieces to spirit bond with or replace the items they've converted to materia on a regular basis. Boom instant market. Thank god there's a simplified crafting system coming in or all the crafters would be screaming for inventory space... F. that, I'll still be screaming for inventory or vendor space. I'll take either, both would be preferable.
