Just had the greatest run of Titan Ex I've had in a long time. We spent the full 90 minutes wiping, but everyone was good natured about it and joked around and gave advice where necessary. It was so much fun even if in the end we didn't make it.

Honestly I'd rather spend 90 minutes wiping with a group like that than do a single clear with a group that gets salty at the slightest misstep. :D

Speaking as someone who has all 6 tank and healer jobs at 60, I sure hope this is the silliest thing I'll read this month. You appear to be suggesting that, when pulling multiple groups, all a tank should do is throw one Shield Lob/Tomahawk/Unmend, per group, and then not touch any of the other mobs until all of them are pulled.

Listen: If you cannot find the MP or TP to hit each group with Flash/Overpower/Unleash as you pull them, you suck at tanking.

I have to pull teeth to get people to do the mechanics in Steps of Faith to this day.

I always volunteer for a cannon, because nobody does, and ask repeatedly if someone else would like to get that or the dragonkiller. Then everyone's all like "Oh, we don't need to do that we have enough dps"....

First thing: You don't know that. I still get groups that fail the dps check.
Second thing: The mechanics make it go even faster, and they're super easy.
Third thing: Despite what you think, one person cannot physically activate both tethers, then hoof it to the dragonkiller in time.

I have a couple of stories after having been away from the forums for a bit.

I've been leveling up bard of late, and yesterday I queue'd Leveling with a couple of FC mates, one of whom is also leveling bard. We land in Tam Tara with a new-ish dark knight who just seems like he's just out of his depth. This guy was not new--every single non-Heavensward job was unlocked and lvl 50+. Yes, being new on DRK can be interesting (I've spent the past couple of weeks pushing it up as well), but it's not exactly dissimilar to paladin. And really, Tam Tara is easier on a DRK than it is on paladin. He was losing aggro on every single pull. My co-bard and I were tanking the dungeon almost as much as he was. We finally get to the end boss, and it's just like he gave up trying to tank. He'd respond somewhat well to suggestions for a while, but ultimately, they'd be forgotten again, so I didn't exactly argue with my buddy who called him a lazy tank. "But it's harder without Grit!" Right.

Later in the day, we did another Leveling and got Haukke. The sprout warrior was like the "day" to that dark knight's "night" and had absolutely zero problems tanking. Everything was smooth, though we did have to point out that they could stun the succubus' Terror-inducing AoE's. I'm aware that Haukke is the point where Grit and the WAR tank stance becomes available, but I don't think that the warrior was even using it.

Finally got an A12 run for the wife's latest Shire weapon gear after trying for a couple of days. We had a couple of new people, and the group wiped. Wifey spent more time raising bodies than throwing DoTs and summoner damage, and I was healing as AST. My cohealer was one of the new people, and he spent most of his MP early on in the fight, but I didn't see why until later. The other summoner spent fully half of the attempt on the ground. I look at the guy because she mentioned he had a 270 ring, and nothing really jumped out at me until I saw his weapon, which was an i200. I may have came off a bit snippy in my response to the tank who said "dps is slow" before proceeding to give pointers on the fight. Another go, another wipe similar to the first. The good tank (not the commenter on damage) leaves after a failed vote abandon. We get a new tank, and things proceed for the third run. People aren't stacking, but this time, I see where the WHM is spending all his MP: he's casting Stoneskin throughout the fight, which might be fine if he wasn't going through the cast time and MP drain for a two second protection. I tell him to not do that, and his MP doesn't spend so much time in the bottom quarter of his bar. Still, we wipe again, and another vote abandon fails to go through. This attempt manages to go off decently enough. The new people have a feel for it, and don't fall to the mechanics as much, and we manage to clear. Ugh.

Just run Lost City HM throught DF. It was a quiet run no one said a word throughout the run. I was i268 BRD. The others three was a 33k HP WAR, 16K SCH (who were a couples) and 18K MNK. The SCH never drop a single DPS. Doesn't matter, i'll still use Foe Requiem. First boss WAR decided to pull with Delivrance. Obviously I took aggro despite using quelling and by a huge amount. He tried to brute force it to get aggro back. Wish didn't work at all. So he turn Defiance back on and provoke and we down it without any more issue. Second boss he learned he's lesson. He pulled with Defiance on and switch mid fight to Delivrance. We down it no problem. By the way Foe Requiem is still up before every single pull and still no DPS from SCH. And right before the last trash... WAR start to emote laughing at me. I didn't said a single word throughout the run. It was obviously because of Foe Requiem. I played the song at the same time he was suppose to Tomahawk and he suddenly stopped running in wish make me run pass him and got aggro because of Foe. No problem there he gather them and we down those thrash. The final boss gate open, i waited for them infront of the gate and... I got kicked... Lol?

Sch doing adlos, or whm/sch throwing eye for an eye or a needed cure in case the tank took too much damage already.
What about BRDs dotting mobs during the pull so he can set up his procs and spam Rain of death in time?

Sure you shouldnt blow your full attack power on a single mob aka trying to kill it while the pull isnt even done yet,but many classes prepare some sort
of setup during the pull. But if the tank loses hate due to a single skill or two during the pull, the tank is in the wrong.

I like to have Adloquium/Galvanize on the tank before they start a pull. This will put you on the enmity list of whatever mob hits them. I've pulled from tanks doing body pulls or only tagging one mob by turning on Cleric Stance or using Aetherflow.

just because it CAN work doesnt make it right...and especially not efficient. What youre suggesting is that everyone should stop preparing before a pull. Which ultimately wastes time and dmg potential.
A MNK needs his buffs up,and he can prepare that during the pull. A brd will dot mobs during the pull so once the pull is done,he can go crazy spamming rain of death because of all the dots he applied.
Several classes have some preparations like that.
You want to waste all that potential because you cba to hit each mob?

Honestly, watch a guide or something. You can do better than that. Or are you part of the "You dont pay my sub" community?

i always adlo before the pull,but on some big pulls,the adlo runs out before the pull is done...so i gotta refresh.

A tank has to hit every mob,and when he does, my refreshed shield will cause zero problems

Last night, was doing the leveling queue on AST which I had not leveled to 40 yet, and I got Satasha. Oh yay easy... crap, I think I got a party of bots.

So if you've never had this happen before, two characters from the same server were firing off actions before they actually animated. Level 50 Gladiator, and a level 20 pugilist. It was more obvious the tank could be a bot because they would just run off while the last mob still had HP. This happened right at the clamshell area where we wiped because the tank ran off while all the mobs had enmity on the the DPS or myself.

This running off bit would repeat a few more times.

When we get to the boss, all mechanics were ignored, instead the tank pulled the boss into a corner.

After the dungeon ended I suspected at least the tank was a bot, and the pugilist may have also been a bot, I wasn't sure about the archer, but the contact list showed they were on a different server from the other two so I left that out of the report.

It should be noted that the level 50 gladiator was only wearing sub level 50 gear. So either this was a bot, or someone who spammed easy content to get there.

I try to give the benefit of the doubt when I see stupid game play, but the fact that this character was moving off before the monsters death animations all the time had me suspect it was a bot.

and today was another premade kick abuse because a tank can't tank and expected a BLM to stop ALL CASTING even though quelling strikes was used. PLD is too difficult I guess, lets hope SB really makes game play easier helps curve kick abuse.

If the gld was running before the monster died, it was probably a legit player. You'll be surprised how many do that, I met some that even used sprint so... PoD influence?
On the other hand, if they were teleporting from mob to mob, yeah probably bot. But even then, I've only seen bots in the wild and they tend to destroy everything, I have no idea of their behavior in dungeons.

So, decided to do a full premade run for Expert roulette (Expert is DF so...). Setup was DRK (friend), AST (me), BRD (tank's guildie), and BLM (another friend). Get through trash as normal. Then we get to the 1st boss and this is where it gets interesting.
Card: Balance. Royal Road Bonus: Enhanced (150% potency).
BRD plays Foe Requiem + uses Battle Voice. I throw the supercharged Balance on the BLM. She doesn't use quelling. She then proceeds to throw out a ton of damage. Tank feels they can drop Grit after 1 enmity combo. BLM steals aggro, DRK has no mana for Grit. BLM dies. Resulted in a wipe (I went RIP too)... With the BLM the last one standing and boss at 1%.
2ns boss. Wholly uninteresting.
3rd boss. I mess up, DRK dies, I then proceed to die. BLM been busting out 20-22k crits. BRD used Battle Voice without a song by accident. Boss died with only BRD+BLM up.

Have any of you noticed a decline of player skill in df this month? Went from 10-15 min lvl 60/ex roulettes to 30+ with wiped fest in dunscaith and weeping city (no bonus in my alliance and we still wipe with me a BRD always last standing)?

Not teleporting, speed-hacking maybe. That would explain it except for the part that they failed to pick up the keys.

I'm not gonna share the "raiders" that decided to play keeper of the lake and ignored the mechanics for everything. Instead I'll share screenshots as it's at least worth a laugh. The entire run can be described as stupid.

Addon comes in eleven days, people have nothing much to do at the moment.
I found myself just gathering a bit.

A good example for a change. Got in with a farm party for making progress on the relic. Three straight hours of A1S with a bonus, and we got lucky in that it had the bonus for two windows in a row. Prior to the start of that party I had just got my relic to that stage, so the timing was perfect. Had a great group and it was probably the friendliest I've seen a farm party in the PF.....

i noticed getting a loooooooot of people with really low gear around il 200 or 230 at max, maybe even some pieces below lvl 60. naturally,their damage output was beyond abysmal as well. sometimes i just eat penalty because I cba to do a 30 min run that should last 15 at best (say whatever you will,but it isnt fun to do that...)

Quick horror story
SMN kiting adds in AV. From Coincounter's area up to the morbols. Everyone dies. I'm spamming chat with "please stand still so tank can take them off you when they're back!". Eventually me tank and mnk are stood in coincouter's area while the smn just ran in circles around us. I used auto translate to ask if they speak english. Smn "get this f*ckin aggro off me"
OMFG :| lol.

And a query, how often should Tri-bind be used as a smn?? it was a weekend of bad smn apparently! Going through keeper for 2nd anima, had a smn who used tri-bind 3/4 times in a row, then cast almost nothing but blizzard 2 and some ruin/ruin 2s... Was baffled, i'm in no way an expert but i've levelled smn to 60 now and found tri-bind next to useless? I could be wrong but surely it's better to keep your dots up and use fester & ruin etc?

In a ravana tweety farm and we were going in a downward spiral, people were dying to basic dodge the bad, hitting his parry shields, eating all the aoes so he started doing mechanics like the rose orbs and charges that the typical farm group doesn't see. I cleared ravana way back when so I know what to do but as I line myself up for orbs someone shouts in chat "OH GOD MECHANICS IVE NEVER SEEN!", my internal crying intensifies and we wipe about 5 seconds after.

Chat screams at SMN to res a healer.
Group wipes.
Someone asks SMN why they didn't res, to which they replied, *Ahem*:

"I didn't have swiftcast"

No. Can't say that I've experienced this. Always use duty finder too. No pre-mades.

Had a fun run in weeping city last night. (Was quite late so thought meh i'd give it ago) Anyway, we had a few new players and returners in the group. We had a new tank in our group and he was asking questions (Which is great.) Anyway, we cleared right up to Ozma and then we began wiping. We wiped a grand total of four times, did people get angry? Nope. Did people leave? Yep some did. But after that we got replacements then we killed Ozma.

Now we reach the final boss. The two tanks from the other groups were fighting for aggro and tanking the boss in the corner. (Which was horrifying) The new tank then took over and continued tanking her there. I asked the tank to please take the boss to the middle, and they did. The boss was tanked in the middle and we did it, no problems. It was the most fun run i ever had! Nobody whined, nobody got mad. (Some were scared at the corner tanking on the final boss though!) At least we got some new players through the raid :)

Tri-bind is only useful really in PvP. In regular duties, such as dungeons, it's a huge waste for a SMN to even have the skill on their hotbar. You're right that they should be focusing on DoT upkeep, and using their skills such as Fester and Ruin. Blizzard II can be useful for large groups for cheap AOEing. But any SMN that uses Tri-bind in something other than PvP is just wasting hotbar space.

I joined an a10s farm and the tank kept stepping on spike trap for spin to win 3x in a row :(((

I queued in DF and got Antitower. Noticed the tank DRK as 18k hp.
Decided to check he's gear. He got Kinna Weapon and a shire body, the rest... Dungeon drops below 60 heck below 58. But he met the requirement to queued... I've bailed when I saw that dropping WM and using Quelling Strike still took aggro off him.

Oh noes. Someone queues for a dungeon they barely qualify for. Guess they're going to need to overgear first before they can raise their ilevels through dungeons and raids.

Shouldn't ilevel dodge slots regardless. If your pure 230 though yeah that's fine, having more then 1 right side for say expert that is under level 60, that's pretty gimp, it is called expert for a reason. ANY LEFT significantly UNDER the rec ilevel is gimp, I got away with it doing The Great Gubal Library but there is nothing hard there, if it was say the current expert, my hp would be an issue.

Not asking to be overgear. Asking to play their jobs properly. Doing there rotation. Knowing where and when to AoE. There's no good excuses to queue a lvl 60/ex roulettes with gears below lvl 60. I blame PoTD weapon wish boost the ilvl enough to bypass the ilvl 180+ check with lvl 50 gears.

Well, up until the other day, I didn't know that tanks who request healers stop using Cleric Stance actually existed.

I was helping my husband with MSQ (Xelphatol) on his alt, and the tank says, "you know you are in Cleric Stance, right?" To which my husband responded with something along the lines of, "yes, so I can DPS during downtime."

The tank came back with, "but you're not a DPS."

I realize that this wasn't particularly egregious, and the tank dropped the argument straight away, but it was just so weird! I can't properly express how incredulous I was.

Its prob more common then you think, my most recent example is not too long ago that my friend in The Great Gubal Library did, I might of posted it here before.. lets see... was it during that relic a thon day?

Another one that was a bit more trolly, my friend was doing her normal thing in one of the older 60 experts.. 3 or 4 patches ago? anyways after like 3rd pull the tank comments stop spaming flash. Both my friends where confused as af thinking the tank was talking to himself. Then after a pull later he started to complain about her using holy and cleric stance. and for more fun, a different friend shown me these found online:

Well, up until the other day, I didn't know that tanks who request healers stop using Cleric Stance actually existed.

I was helping my husband with MSQ (Xelphatol) on his alt, and the tank says, "you know you are in Cleric Stance, right?" To which my husband responded with something along the lines of, "yes, so I can DPS during downtime."

The tank came back with, "but you're not a DPS."

I had my first one of those a few weeks ago. I had created a char on Ultros because a friend came back to the game and that's where his FC had moved to. Anyway I get into Satasha and tank says "You have cleric stance on." and I said "I know, I will turn it off if/when I need to." I mean he didn't say turn it off... and maybe he just thought I forgot and he was being helpful? but I swear that is the first and only time I have had a tank comment about CS -at all-.

edit: Ama's post did remind me in main story roulette I did have a cohealer that told me too... I think I posted.. I wonder if I can find it.

You also might consider people are tired of trying. My friend always passes leader and another friend did it a few times as well. Every time they did, either the new leader breaks it anyway or everyone leaves.

whm could been undergeared too. a while back one of my friends went in as a DPS figuring having a good dps with my friend's tank would speed up the runs. The whm was so undergeared the whm could not keep up the tank friend and wipe a few times. After they removed the whm, the other dps got snippy saying it was.. scummy? I think the word was. Some people are just blind to recognize issues.

Went into a Exreme Levi as Tank to help people out. Ended up getting into a party where there was a pre-formed of 2 whms, 1 tank and a brd. The Tank was drunk apparently so he wasnt helping. I have solo tanked that fight and i was like why not. Find out it was their first time and they decided to join for the lols. We died a shit ton of times, there was a pug bard who actually was there for the clear. He was expressing his discontent with their joking around.

They kept asking me why I had a debuff on me, that added on to their healing. I said it was the tail, if the drunk tank could put on shield oath and attempt to hold head since he was auto attacking it anyways in sword oath, we could manage for a bit without me taking so much dmg. Nope, he ran around crazy instead after i said something. Healers thought it would be amusing to just let me die and re-raise me to get stacks off.

We somehow made it to last add. Me and the BRD who wanted the clear. The healers kept falling off, but at the end of the day, it just wasnt happening.

The Brd wasnt from my server I wish he was, I would have took him in an unsync run, bless his heart. But those 4 people did appologize at the end to him.
They said they felt like scum bags.
I hope they were being sincere. :/

Oh noes. Someone asked a question and I said my opinion and someone got offended because she exactly fits my description. Oh noes.

Now if only people put in effort in what theyre playing and their dps wouldnt be as bad no matter the ilvl,but they just dont. So the low IL only makes it even worse.
