I know Bay and them going to give official translations on this one so would just wait for that if you want confirmation on above.
I won't. But perhaps you should include the threads title PLがあまりにも酷すぎる件について.Quote:

As always, thanks for doing the hard work and leaving the fun part (pouring oil into the fires of agony, and pepper into the wounds of despair) to me ^.^/
It really sounds like they're just going to adjust the part where the PL'er can be in the same party and the PL'ee can be AFK on auto-follow. PL'ing will still exist in a big way after the fix, but it'll be a bit less abusive.
All I want is for it to not be so outrageous. Thank you for translating that, Reinheart.
And a big thanks to Yoshi-P for commenting personally on the matter.
吉田さん、ありがとうございます!
According to that translation, he's saying the error is that they're in the same PT without an XP penalty. That implies that if they're not in the same PT, there's no XP penalty for high level helpers killing mobs a low level player claims by himself.
Quote:
We did have an idea about this after after the modification to the claiming system but didn't expect where the person getting PL can be in the party and do nothing and gaining exp without the penalty where it calculates the level difference between the players.
What Issac said.
Also, much of the speed of PLing now comes from the PLer killing groups of mobs the low level player never has to deal with. If they force the low level player to make the claims the usefulness will be vastly reduced, especially since every mob in the game has a ranged attack they beat you in the face with as soon as you have aggro.
Oh my god you guys will argue about anything, no wonder this thread is >80 pages long. Whether the fix targets just the "same-party" situation or also calculates the levels of out-of-party combatants we'll find out. The same party thing is how it reads to me, but if you interpret it differently that's fine, we'll see how they do it.
Thanks to Yoshida for clarifying that there is something wrong with it, and the current EXP calculations are indeed broken.
Finally, people can stop saying, "Well Yoshi said it was OK".
All I did was interpret what kind of fix the devs had in store based on that post. The only person who attempted to make a comment to invalidate someone's opinion was Travesty posting to say that I must have misread.
Edit: since you mentioned it I've been thinking up ways to exploit PL'ing after the fix. I'm thinking, I'll cast my fishing rod, then have 8 of my friends throw bombs in the lake, then I swoop in with a net and bag all the fish that float to the surface for massive XP!
That's a tough line to balance on. Because then the complaint will be that parties with higher level classes/friends keep forcing people out of ideal camps by killing the mobs while they have claim and effectively nerfing their exp. The only real option to make everyone happy is to fix the bug and in tendum not allow people outside the party to act on players in the party or their mobs and those subsequently linked.
It was a system designed with this kind of PLing in mind, and a penalty for outside assistance will only lead to more griefing than helping.
I'm glad SE has finally spoken about the topic. Should close the rift a bit on these forums.
Dang... now I have to find someone to PL my THA/CON at least till 35-40...lol I hate leveling sorcerer class/jobs orz j/k j/k lol
A round of drinks for everyone on Team Common Sense, it's on me. Glad this debacle was addressed and going to be promptly handled.
Great. Hand me the mug.Quote:

But plvling is ok... Just not in same party, i had a feeling that this was the case
Heres a quote of mine from earlier in the thread
Quote:
I do remember yoshi-p saying that if the claiming system does completely break the game then they will change it. But after reading this thread it seems that the claiming system isnt the issue since lvl 50 actually join your party. Plvling in this manner is rather stupid because the 50 can initiate the 1st attack thus getting hate and being able to kill any lvl mob for the rest of the party. Instead of having the lower level player tag 1st and having the 50 kill it afterwards out of the party.*
How are the 2 methods different? In the 2nd method the low lvl player takes a risk of tagging higher lvl mobs that can 1-2 shot him if the plvl doesnt respond fast
These are better :) http://goo.gl/cKzeC got one of them at home never opened the bottle yet... lol
Aw HELL NO. IX is the last great single player. XI is also awesome.
X, XII, and XIII? Ew.
Edit;
I waited in line for an hour for the XIII midnight release. My butt was so friggin sore from the amount of butthurt I experienced the next day. I still played it for a couple weeks and beat it, but ffs... So butthurt... :(
This whole issue could have been avoided, if we had a player test server. I do hope that they consider setting one up, soon.
same complaints happened when abyssea first came out and people were getting 1-90 in a day. People will get over it eventually.
Greetings,
Sorry it's taken so long for us to discuss, but as I'm sure you're aware we have to wait for concrete information before we post. Foxclon and Yoshida have both posted as a response to the discussions being held here, and other region forums.
So this translation makes it pretty clear that they're only fixing the most abusive part of PL'ing, which is the AFK leveling and level 50s claiming for you. I 100% agree with nerfing that part of it. If someone is going to get powerleveled at least have them present and make them claim the mob themselves before they can get good XP from it. It'll still be very fast but I think we'll see a huge decrease from the eyepopping XP/hr numbers people have posted.Quote:
We expected the extent of power leveling to become evident with the removal of the claim system, but we didn’t foresee the extent to which low level players can sit AFK, while in the same party with a much higher level character fighting monsters, without the level differences between the players being applied to the incoming EXP.
I guess this is a Start i hope the Person being powerlevel have to do something now. Sadly you can't allow powerlevel like this maybe make powerlevel like in FFXI where the person heal you.
Sadly yoshi-p matter what you do in 1.19A people would still do powerlevel over partying so i hope you do something that would make partying better then being PL or many players would quit. You said that person should take 2-3month to level by me and my friend party and got 1-40 within 1week. So i hope you fix both party and pl exp but still make it so Party exp is better then being powerlevel by a high level player.
At the end you should still take off powerlevel because ppl still would find the easy way out and you should not allow this. People should work for there own level and not ask someone else to do it for them sorry but your idea is still wrong but whatever it still a start i hope later patch would fix this issue more.
2-3month of you doing work yourself is noting like FFXI so i don't see why people want to get powerlevel. Anyways that just my view how a game should play i like at least it going to be fix for ppl being afk and i take that over anything thank you once again dev team great job.
Actually, I really don't think it will be that fast, even if they just fix that one part. I'm pretty sure it will be slower than a regular party. If the low level player is the one who has to get first claim/aggro, because of the nature of ranged attacks in this game, they're gonna be in significant danger immediately if fighting multiple mobs. It'll be difficult to PL with groups of enemies after they change that.
Yay! Now we can lock all the unnecessary threads~
There's a lot more involved if the PL'er and PL'ee have to be in separate parties. In link situations the PL'ee is going to need to perform actions to claim every single one of the mobs before they can be AOE'd down. Since the PL'er has to wait to kill, they'll need to get hate to prevent the group from beating up the PL'ee. All in all I think it'll be a substantial slowdown and increase in work, which is fair. Just how much the XP/hr goes down I don't think we'll see unless someone is bored enough to try it like this before it's fixed to require it.
The exp rate even outside of PLing as a whole is messed up, which Yoshi said compounded the problem. I think after the patch 1.19a we can safely expect the rates for ranks 20+ to feel slower.Quote:

Notice how he didn't mention anything about a server rollback? All you guys who jumped on it will likely get to keep your precious levels.
Even if outside-the-party PL can kill the mobs, at least the Lower Level player will have to work at it.
Anyway, guess the dabate has passed for now. It's all speculation until we see the actual changes in action. Even the patch notes will probably not be enough to know how the revisions really play out in-game.
Glad to see that it's being balanced at any rate. :)
