FFXIV 2nd expansion: Viera-like race still a possibility?

How so? They're more bilby-like in appearance (sans tail).

But, basically the same logic as us not getting the Ivalician Moogles.

We have a beast tribe of rodent people, so the appearance of a spoken version of them for us to play would make for some odd lore loops. That, and I think the snout would push it a bit.

It's a bummer, since Freya is amazing.

Here's a thought. Bring in Viera, make their backstory something different than a tree-hugging bipedal creature, just make sure they come from some isolated area with GOOD REASON. Example: They could have some kind of battlemaiden/valkyrie culture, a tribal culture, or, hell, a buddhist-esque culture. Their island or nation was destroyed by some catastrophic event, ex: enraged elementals, demons/voidspawn, supercharged primals, volcano, earthquake, etc; you get my point. They occasionally did some trading in the past with the inhabitants of Ala Mhigo and from that know of our nations and lands. BAM! You have most of the backstory done in all of 5 mins of thinking.

It's not hard to come up with a backstory, the real issue is making sure their presence is implemented correctly, unlike the Au'Ra

Viangaas was a 1st april kidding :p But, add this type of race is a big work to get clothes for them i think

I'd love a matriarchal take on the Ronso, as they would be beastly enough, and aside from the horn, wouldn't cause helmet problems

I know more of what Viera look like than some of people in this thread seem to, because I've looked at more than one representation of them. There's a reason I referred specifically to "the way this game would be likely to implement Viera".

Basically, anything that's human with rabbit ears seems to qualify as that's all they have in common from one game to another. I think It'd be likely, though, for SE to go with a tall and slender version, as that seems popular, which would mean they'd re-use the same body type as Elezen. So, it'd just be an Elezen with rabbit ears. Or if SE decides not to go with the tall and slender version, it might be a Hyur with rabbit ears or a Miqo-te with rabbit ears instead. But it'd be one of the three. That's not entirely what the people asking for Viera want, but it's what they'd get.

And the look of a Viera has already changed quite a bit, as this:

And here in XIV, Viera would look like an Elezen (or possibly Hyur or Miqo'te) wearing the Bunny Crown. The only differences would be a slightly furry texture on the ears, and the fact that they'd replace the normal Elezen (or Hyur or Miqo'te) ears. So I still stand by my claim that it can essentially already be done with a glamoured headpiece.

Yeah if you dont mind looking like a 7 foot tall ethiopian with a disprportioned hair and dollar store costume ears. And if its so easy and hardly any different from what we have why not just thtow us a bone and add it alongside of a completly different race?

Ever think it might also be the new animations, emotes, voices, and lore that we want, too?

I love the Roegadyn ladies.... As a concept. They falter in the same sort of way Elezan do, but while Elezan have nice faces with gangly bodies, Roe girls suffer the opposite problem.

Particularly the facial structures on all 4 roe lady options have really wide, flat noses. 3 options have permanent angry eyebrows in every variation. And, 3 have very small eyes. In fact, the face that has largest eyes being the one I pretty consistently see on players, despite eyebrows so sharp she could chop wood.

It's unfortunate. I played one for nearly a year (the one face with an option for brows that were unfurrowed or slanted) but after coming back after a 5 month break, I went from feeling cool about playing the least popular race/gender/clan combination to "This isn't pretty to me anymore."

So, my fantasia addiction continues.

My problem isnt so much their face its their Heman/Lion-o bodies.

But it can't..

because the race would have a different face style...

they would probably have actual ears with different hairstyles...

and they would have a bunny tail on every outfit...

and the list goes on...

So NO, they would not look like elezen with the bunny crown.

Nothing would need to be redesigned if they go the route of Au ra horns- they just clip straight through everything lol.

That would be fine i just want more diversity as long as we get pretty faces and hot bodies. Miqote wouldnt work as well cause the emotes are far too animated but i could accept the elezen emotes as long as the bodies arent disgusting like Elezens are

Well, we most assuredly will get men in the Viera-esque race. The original concepts show males, and viera's official lore in the Ivalice based games straight up say that males exist, though they live separately from the women and are even more isolationist.

Aura males look to be the only race that has pushed the creativity barrier at all, specifically due to horn size. Before I saw the female versions, I was highly optimistic, but it ended up looking like the sultana paired with Rabon-w/e...in other words, the two didnt look like they even shared the same species. With the Viera, just asking for something beyond 'play it safe general size fits all eye candy' Something that says "Woah..well ya dont see that everyday" ...and yes...ears are the #1 trait of a Viera. Removing those would be like trying to create a flatchested Tifa..some things just go with the name.

Thats cause they refuse to redesign gear for wild body structures. So the animal ears and the horns on regular humans is as far as they are gonna go

Female Aura are female Hyur's with horns. Male Aura's are Elezens with horns. If adding a slight texture difference with a tail and horns/ears is all it takes than whats exactly wrong with Viera being placed in the game? Nothing, answering that now. People constantly say "Oh, SE won't do anything crazy, they'll just make it a hyur with ears, they shouldn't do it!" Then wtf is Aura doing so damn well!? If people want the Viera, give a better reason than spouting out your butts as to why they shouldn't be in the game. "They're an all female race, ha!" so was the cat race in FFXI and even in FFXIV original just had female Miqote and changed for a Realm Reborn. They'll change it, duh.

They arent even an all female race lol. It says right in the lore that males just live seperatly and are even more anti social than the women.

Kurogaea, Omnipotent technically wants the Viera in the game, but has conceded that a third Elezen clan with similar body proportions and facial options (or in their words "hot bodies and pretty faces") would be just as good. Au Ra (mostly females) are popular because they're cute, like the Miqo'te. While Viera would slightly deviate from this, they're technically 'elves' with rabbit ears... so just make them a third clan for the Elezen, sans the rabbit ears.

I mean i dont really care how they add them lol. As long as we have them. If they wanna do all the work of making a new race but doesnt wanna call them viera thats fine xD.

My biggest fear will be that they will add Viera, but instead of giving us the Ivalice version, we will get an Eorzea version which will be a Hyur with bunny ears. Viera is (next to Nu mou, but we all know that race is not seen as pretty, so it being added will be slim to none) my favourite race in the Final Fantasy Universe.

I realy do not want see Yoshi-P and crew to add some anime schoolgirl, kawaii waifu version of the fierce, strong and beautiful Viera that we all know and love.

Well i must be the minority, because that's exactly why i love Femroes. :D

Why go through the trouble of making a new body model and not have the LOOK WHAT WE MADE promotional hype of a new race? I feel like it'd take more effort to go down the list of what we have and start making 3rd options for everything instead of just making "bunny girl" and "bunny boy".

I think the third option came about as a sort of happy medium of giving us new options in the easiest way possible on the dev team.

I think the real distinction of Au Ra men is more in their faces. You can't get anything even slightly resembling some of those sharp features in the other races, even if you take the horns away.

I love Au Ra girls, but it's only because the crab claw horned face has the one of the prettiest smiles on her neutral face of any girls.... If only the horns didn't clip all the long hair options!

I really like the Highlander girls, too, but always found a disconnect with being these serious and hard-edged looking women with these bouncy, high energy emotes.

Viera are traditionally very feminine and very serious. I love animal traits on characters. I like playing taller avatars.

A Viera styled race would give me everything I want. That's why I'm so heavily requesting it.

People are wrong when they judge female roegadyns, we are made for male roegadyns not for the scrawny male hyurs

A lot of people dont look at it from an rp standpoint. Just naturally most guys dont want a girl that can beat Heman in an arm wrestling contest.
