Also, it fits. Bard isn't strictly support or strictly DPS. It's a hybrid, so it does fit.

It sucks that some skills were removed and bard was even further pushed into a strictly DD role, but I don't think Yoshi is exactly satisfied with the way this class has turned out either since it was different in beta. It will probably get adjustments made to it when archer can get another job, most likely DD centered, to change into.
I complained about this a while back but it was buried, I'm glad to see a thread blowing up and on the front page.
Square, c'mon.... DPS Role should be DPS Limit Break, plain and simple. Whether you were too lazy to design a Ranged Physical Limit Break or you actually thought keeping the heal was the right move, you are wrong and you should change it.
I've been in countless groups with 2 bards, not having that dps limit break is a huge flaw in your system.
Give Bard a DPS Limit Break
I don't mind Bard in its current form at all. Can't tell you how many times I've been thanked and/or appreciated for "song dancing" (swapping between Ballad and Army and Foe) during HM Ifrit, and occasionally saving the group from a wipe by using LB heal in numerous dungeons/encounters.
I feel like the songs the way they are now are ok, but I think other songs should be brought back or new ones introduced. In reality DPS LBs should be kept to the pure DPS jobs imo.
I also feel like if BRD was to have a DPS LB instead, it would make us far more favorable than most of the other DPS classes, mainly melee, as it is easy for us to maneuver for boss fights, and our support mechanics are extremely unique. Thus, we would start seeing full parties with mostly BRD, BLM, and SMN dps instead of any MNK or DRG.
Both healers down in raid? Bard Level 3 Limit break saves the day.

the problem there stems from the fact normally melee do HIGHER damage to compensate for the risk... which isn't the case here by much if anything. give brd a dd lb but increase drg/mnk damage people who want "Safety" can have people who want "speed" can also have it~
there are already plenty of fights where being a melee is more trouble then it's worth tbh ESPECIALLY things like HM primals OH I JUMPED/TELEPORTED? BYE GREASED LIGHTNING! :<
Exactly. The DPS Limit breaks are a huge reason to bring along a Melee DPS for the risk they have to put themselves in. I've done a few Amdapor Keep runs with 2 BRDs as DPS and it really hurts not having the ability to instantly nuke one of the Demon Wall adds or some extra damage to expedite the Dragon fight.
We probably won't see a Ranged Physical Limit Break until Musketeer is released because that is when a actual DD Physical Ranged Job will be released. Assuming Musketeer is given a DD focused Job and not a Support Job like with Archer moving into Bard.

I have run many times on Duty with 2 brds DPS...it sucks so much.

I had np with the way brd was in 1.0, I loved being a brd in garuda. Our 15 minute cd ability was pretty sweet. I wish Rain of Death though was the same animation. I always loved seeing that go off in 1.0. Now it's just sad to see. At least in 1.0 the skill affected enemies nearby too when used if they were in range. I have to say I am not happy with the limit break brds got either, I never played brd in ffxi and I loved it in 1.0 since I could fire arrows instead of playing instruments all the time.

I'm more dps minded and would prefer a dps based Limit Break or at least give brds 2 choices for a limit break depending on the situation. Say the one we have now and maybe a dps one if the situation called for it. I love my brd but I wish I could limit break with the effectiveness of mnk, drg or blm. At least they shortened the time it takes to cast swiftsong.
I remember first time I tried Rain of Death out in phase 3 beta when I got my 1.0 char back and I was disappointed with what they did for the animation. There is a saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it". They should've left RoD alone.

Bards are arguably the highest dps in the game.
Bards have extremely high burst damage (probably rivaled by BLM's, but ours lasts longer).
Bards are the most mobile dps class in the game.
Bards have the best utility in the game (song, root, slow, silence).
Bards aren't melee. Because fuck melee. <3
Give us a dps limit break and we won't need to bring any other dps classes to anything. Maybe a BLM for AoE every once in awhile.
