In the same boat, I just got my CE today and now there's not much I can do with the code. As much I am happy with the contents inside it... I just hope that we can redeem it through the bonus code option, just something please!
I wished SE communicated it better with the whole 1.0 account thing... I don't often go to the forums and mostly rely on the website to give me the most accurate information. I hope a CM sees this and address the issue or something.
That is basically what I said in my email to them, said I don't mind the fact that I paid £34.99 for the CE and the Digital Upgrade is £14.99 ... I just want them to change the account so I can get my items.
Seeing as the would make more money by doing it, and it can't be that hard to do, I think it seems feasible... Otherwise I'll take a £34.99 refund and pay £14.99 for the upgrade.
Guys, look, I'm sorry to say it, but those of us (myself included) who bought the PC CE, back when it first became available in May, dropped the ball. SE did warn everyone that if you bought the PC Collectors Edition and had a 1.0 account, you would not be able to redeem the code waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy back on August 8, 2013. 9 posts in. On a topic about the latest Letter from the Producer (at the time).

Like you said so well, this WAS a known issue back in May.. and The decided to just turn a blind eye to it thinking this juggling of PS3 accounts and double dipping digital service upgrade would be OK.

i ordered it YONKS ago and read that the item could be used, according to the item description, after that i never read much more into it, i always assumed it would work, i didnt see why it wouldnt, but alas, today proved us wrong!
least SE can do is fix it, i mean really, its not hard!
If you think that I was going to look through some forum to see if I was going to be able to register my code from a game I bought, your crazy. They should have made it CLEAR on there webpage. Hours later I am still pissed.

Yes, please try to post in my GD topic. There was a post about NA accounts not being able to receive the ahriman mount that got a mod reply, so maybe if this could get more attention we might get some kind of response on the issue.

this is stupid! i had such high hopes for this game, but i guess it will just be put on the shelf like 1.0...
It's not really the game that's the problem, it's fine.. It's the lack of service on issues like these really.
I will still play, I just wont pay a second time for CE items... no real issue with the game it's self despite all the NA meltdown.
I'm hoping SE will offer a way to redeem items and wont get into trouble for false advertising with all the account confusion, not just with 1.0 not getting CE but all the other stuff that has happened with EA accounts, PS3 accounts and CE 1.0 confusion.
The servers will get fixed over time, but this is just the single aspect that truly needed to be streamlined for release cause it can create real headaches for both customers and the support that have to fix them individually.
BTW... that post does not talk about CE items, it's about the 30 days free that you get.
If you buy the PS3 version you can link it to a 1.0 account and get the extra 30 days, like with CE items.

it's true that game was great. however, paying 15$ a month when i cant access the CE items that ive purchased, not to mention their 1017 errors that has yet to be fixed, just doesnt seem worth it until fixed =/
Yeah.. I don't know, it's looking like this isn't really a big problem for people.. Or at least if it is, a lot of people aren't really making a fuss about it. As much as I hate to say it, we might be screwed on this one.
Its not like it even cost SE anything to show players a little support with this. They are digital items. Infinite in number and do not have any cost to produce.
well we are going to have to raise hell for this to show them we want this fixed. i am calling support tomorrow and hoping to get some progress with this
I thought they were just being slow, but after doing some digging during downtime, I now see this is a rather widespread issue. I've since submitted two tickets through the support system, both of which have spirited off to the netherworld of their support system (ticket numbers don't exist when I search for them, no confirmation e-mail, no record in my account of a support request). One more issue being swept under, perhaps....?

Hi trem, not only is this wide spread there are many different reasons why you might not have your CE items.
If you don't have a 1.0 account, your issue might be something else... like the Early access account or incorrect registration.
The good news, if it's one of the other issues, you should find a fix eventualy.
If your 1.0 Standard... pull up a chair, I'l get some snacks later. we will be here for a while ;P

So I'm a legacy account holder. I purchased CE and like others recently got code in email which instructed very unclearly to enter it in the mog center.
I tried all sections to enter it, made all the more confusing by the fact the email seemed to give me two lines of code. The top one was the only one that would fit properly though. What was the bottom sequence of numbers? BTW I purchased it from the SE store.
So after trying to enter the code unsuccesfully in all places. I finally found a section that would accept the code. It added a new service account(I learnt what that meant after I did it) -_-* It was there that I learned legacy accounts can't enter in CE codes, and have to upgrade through the mog center.
So now I have two services, the one I paid for a CE to get upgraded is stuck as non CE unless I pay more money to upgrade it on mog center, or I put in a ticket and wait two weeks and potentially get my account locked while it gets resolved?
I am very unimpressed -_-*
All you get when you click add platform as a Legacy account holder is a back button, so I hope its understandable I kept trying elsewhere thinking. Ok so where do I put this code in? Maybe it will ask me if I want to add new service or apply to existing one after I put in code?

This is not by any means a mistake from SE where they did not express properly what players should and shouldn't buy.

If you wanted to get the pre-order items on your 1.0 STANDARD account, and you pre-order the Collectors Edition:
You are able to apply the code for early access and get the pre-order items on your 1.0 account, yet you are unable to use the CE cdkey on your 1.0 account???
You are telling me that 1.0 account holders have to fork out 50$ for collectors edition in order to get the Pre-order items yet not the Collectors Edition items??
This is just a street smart way of ripping people off.
I checked the promotion for the pre-ordering around 15-20 times, I never saw ANYTHING that warned legacy or 1.0 players from pre-ordering.
This is a money-making scheme by S.E targeting its fan players and I have lost a lot of respect for Square Enix which was favorite before.
During FFXI if you order a cdkey that had all expansions included and you applied to an account with half these expansions, it would give you the option to apply the other half since u already have the first half activated.
It would not tell you to create a new account.

I'm in the same boat, and so is my boyfriend. I no longer read the forums and, quite frankly, I figured such important information would be on the product page OR sent by email.
I don't mind dishing out $50 rather than $20. I'd just like them to let me apply the code to my account or for them to apply it themselves.
I really wanted the Cait Sith Doll/Mog Hat - from my understanding, 1.0 players were supposed to just forget about them? We weren't supposed to pre-order after all.
Fingers crossed Squenix will realize the information wasn't readily available and just let us input our codes. Other MMOs do it (heck, THEY used to do it) after all.
i really hope we get some kind of response about this....

How about telling V1.0 ff14 original CE purchasers how to register period. I have 2 copies and neither registration code works from them, no response from customer service as of yet. I had to buy 2 new AAR FF14 CE copies in order to play when I was told I shouldn't have to. Also if I can't register these original copies how am I going to get the $9.99/mo. subscription they said we'd only have to pay as original players? Needless to say, I'm going to seek 5 mo. free minimum to break even.
Other than current customer support issues tho, the game is great! GJ Yoshi and staff.
Woke up this morning, not being able to play and out my 80 bucks. Was hoping maybe just maybe someone from CS would freakin' respond to this thread or something. Guess not, SE fails.
Hmm, so it seems that Talaya "mysteriously can't access the forums" at the moment... However she did send me a tell in-game saying that she called Square-Enix up again and someone has asked her for the Collector's Edition code she received and has escalated it to Japan HQ.
Hopefully this means that they might be able to upgrade the account this way... Just a shame under the circumstances that occured trying to figure this out. I imagine I'll get the standard email (I could be wrong), but if you call them you are likely to have more success by the looks of it! If they say it isn't possible or they can't do anything then at least we have this ground to stand on for now :D
Just don't swear/criticize Squares Customer Care on the forums :p
