If my Character could hug you they would, Thank you very much.
Also! you can change keybinds for R to be reply, right now by default its ALT R or SHIFT R i dont remember, its called reply back.

You can turn off player names if you didn't see the option already. A fade option would be great for players that are farther than a certain distance, though.
For whatever reason, Carbuncles just seem to be untargetable with left/right on the D-pad. You can target them by hitting X if your character isn't facing any enemies (enemies take priority, I believe). Hopefully party members' carbuncles get added to the "allies" filter.Quote:
I can't even target the Carbuncles. I can target them with the mouse or gamepad mouse but not when using a gamepad. Is this working as intended or a bug? It's not a filter thing either because even with everything available to be target I still cannot target them. I spoke with two other gamepad users that said they also could not target them.
Being able to link items in chat!
I would really like to be able to untrack quests so I don't have all that clutter on my screen while fighting.
Personally, my only real gripe right now is I can't mount with my companion summoned...
Or use duty finder with him...
I should be able to mount if I have him summoned, he's right there.
Duty finder issue since I normally grind when I wait for DF, also grind to level my companion and I have to choose between the 2 which is rather annoying.
This was in previous phases, I guess they took it out because the game would uncheck quests if they went over your display limit and people would miss that they had quests in their journal just sitting there. Now the game repopulates the list as you clear quests.
I believe they are going to add it back in soon as a lot of people are requesting it. They would just need to add some kind of small "X unfinished quests" to let you know you have unfinished quests in your journal that you might have missed.
Just a few things I'd like to see that I noticed when I tried WoW out for a short time...
Mostly small animation things that added a bit of flavour.
- When opening the map whilst standing still, your character actually gets out a map and reads it. Noticed my character doing this during my newbie run of WoW
- When turning the camera, it would be nice to have your character turn their neck in the direction instead of their whole body.
This was done because in WoW, opening your map filled you entire screen. You couldn't play and keep your map open at the same time. Thus the animation had the practical purpose of showing other players, "Hey. Just FYI, this person can't see or do anything at the moment." If you opened up your "battle map" as they called it though (I think it was Shift+M?), which is the style of map that FFXIV uses, then your character made no such animation. That's because the "battle map" isn't meant for opening and closing in short bursts. It's meant for integrating into your UI however you see fit, in order to allow players a way to keep a map permanently toggled on. I often find myself keeping my map open permanently in FFXIV, as was surely the entire intention behind implementing the "battle map" style over the full screen style.
That said, this animation did add some nice flavor and serve some practicality in WoW, However, I just don't think that it would fit FFXIV the same way. I for one, with my map always displayed, know that I'd get awfully annoyed if every time I stopped moving, it meant that my character found her nose buried into a map instead of looking up at the world around her.
Some suggestions of my own, apologies if any of it has already been brought up:
- A way to block and report players by right clicking their names (since you can add them as friend/send them a tell that way). Especially important with bots and gold sellers that tend to flood into new games;
- A way to keep the chat from resetting when you use Tell, Shout and Yell (it keeps reverting back to say/FC/linkshell/party);
- A setting for text auto scroll for the cutscenes you can't skip, if it isn't possible to make them skippable;
- A setting for autotargeting the closest enemy would be nice, especially for FATEs where things go down faster than you can finish casting as a magic class sometimes;
- More leniency for getting credit for enemy kills on magic classes, which have a very hard time competing for mobs with melee classes and rarely do enough damage to count;
- Recommended duties could at least show which other areas have quests you can initiate - if you forget where your next story step is and you're not in the correct map, it takes a lot of trial and error to find them.
I can't target them either (play on ps3). I had an ACN screaming at me to heal carby during a copperbell run after the tank died. When I told him I couldn't target carby he called me a noob and quit the run. His loss, we got the win without him. But still, this needs to be fixed so people don't assume those playing with controllers are retarded.
There's a little icon when setting the price of an item, be it from your own inventory or from you retainer's. Looks like a page of paper. Click on that, and it'll show you the sale history of the item you're pricing.
Also, check you keybinds. Target nearest enemy is already in there, defaulted to F11.
Oh I have one, recommended duties should always have the next story quest on the top of the list, no matter what zone you are in or how many quests are available. They are super-important and there are a lot of people that are apparently losing track of where they are in the story.
@Lament: There is a vanity gear system coming that will let you pick what gear you are wearing visually separate from the gear you actually have equipped. I believe it is going to be in the first major patch.
@Raymeo: Thanks! I didn't notice it there when using my retainer, disregard that particular suggestion then.
I meant autotarget as in, you use a skill and the game automatically picks a target for you (if you have none targeted or your target is a dead enemy). In general what happens is use skill > target is already dead > "invalid target", would be nice for an autotarget system to automatically pick the next target and use it on that instead.
@Estellios: Awesome! Thanks for the info.
Gear preview from NPC.
A friend was solely making his decision on his GC the other day simply based off gear appearance, and I hadn't realized until then that this did not exist.
When you type something in the chat box, press escape once to delete what is in the chat box, and escape again to remove the focus from the chat box.
Currently, if i type something and half way through I want to delete because i want to chat later, I have to highlight the text with my mouse, and then delete the text by pressing backspace, and then press escape to exit the chat box.
Don't reinvent the wheel with this. There are other MMO's that have done this right.
Auto-hand-over quest items? That's not "quality of life", that's just lazy.
Maybe I just haven't found the option/setting yet but I would like to be able see friends/linkshell/freecompany people on my map. Have a toggle to turn each one on/off. I would like to stalk my friends. =]
Omg yes fix the targeting issues. Tab target is crap right now. I'll be standing directly in front of the target I want to select and hit tab, and it picks some random target F way in the back/to the side of me, and I'll have to hit tab multiple times to get it on my target. I also can't see things at all when there are too many people around. Even in instances with 3 melee people (tank, myself, other dps) it gets hard to see where I'm standing all the time because of how BRIGHT AND FLASHY AND DRAMATIC every SINGLE spell it.
Yes please...
- Item sort by Category: Consumables, Materials, Fishing...
- Equipment sort by Stats: Atk, Def, Vit...
- Alphabetic sort for Inventory,Armory and Emotes
- Equipment comparison (Side by side)
- Journal Management (Like Phase 3): Option to choose which Dutys are shown in Duty List
Some of these are good suggestions, others, not so much.
First, the good ones:
These are all good ideas that make a lot of sense, no further discussion necessary.Quote:
- Auto-dismount when riding into city
- Add indicator to armory-chest that shows which items are part of a set (for sorting out materia-food and vendor-trash)
- Make cut-scenes on airships only play the first time you travel/make this an option
- Add map-markers
- Add chat-links to map-markers and items (thanks Tenku)
- Highlight recommended items for current class in the armoury-chest (thanks Besbeset)
- Add item-comparisons (side-to-side) (thanks Stamar)
- Add inventory-categories for consumables, crafting mats, etc. (thanks ViolanteVirides)
- Add a "sort inventory"-button (thanks Niklaus & Inuakurei)
- Add options for speech-bubbles (thanks Tenku & Niklaus)
- Implement a UI-scale slider** (thanks Stamar)
- "Maximum-amount" button (in vendors, bank, etc). Makes it so you don't have to type in the number.*
These, yeah; not such good ideas:
How hard is it to click the dismount button before using your skills? I've accidentally hit a skill while typing in my chat log, while riding, and I'm glad it didn't dismount me by mistake...Quote:
- Auto-dismount on skill-use
The auto-dismount I agree with, but talking down to someone from up on a horse is rude. Chocobos also take up a lot of room, and many of the NPCs at Aetherytes are already quite crowded with people around them, last thing we need is 20 birds around an NPC.Quote:
- Allow to talk to NPCs while mounted (or auto-dismount when talking to NPC, thanks Taliesin)
There's an easy solution to this: dismiss your minion! I get tired of seeing all the things running around, the 'cute factor' wears off really quickly. I wish the game didn't have 'em.Quote:
- Make minions ignore right-clicks at all times (they get in the way when gathering for example) and ignore all clicks in combat
Nope. This is a TERRIBLE idea. The market board only lists the lowest 10 prices, whether they are individual or a stack; I don't want people to be able to quickly flood the market with items that are 1-gil cheaper than the ones before it, to where other people's products are pushed off the list. Imagine having 99 items, all at the same price, listed individually, constantly, whew.Quote:
- Market Board should prompt "list items individually or as a stack" when selling stuff (thanks Tannlore)
Stack pricing is also always cheaper per unit than individual pricing; you are basically asking vendors to give up their ability to offer volume discounts, and that's not going to fly with the folks who actually put the stuff up on the board that you like to buy. I know it seems convenient, but it would wreck havoc with the economy to do so.
Lazy and non-immersive.Quote:
- Auto-hand over of key-items to NPCs (thanks Stamar)
Don't know if this has been said or will be read But is there a way to get a percent on the fate when looking at the map hover over it? Also is there a way to add abbreviations to the teleport list with which region each place is in? Like E.Thal S.Shr W.Lac. Really annoying to get to a fate that ends or is almost done.
I like about all the suggestions from the op, nice post.
Chat bubbles and dismount on spell should just be an option, don't get why people QQ about having more options.
-UI Scaling
- Padding option for UI so you can stick buttons
- Option to remove the 'glow' from the UI, also option to remove art.
Example the party bar is way to cluttered for a healer, I would strip down half of it if I could.
- Option to mod the party bar more, think of larger health bars.
- Option to scale buffs and show them as bars
- Grace timer in instances so you can try the item in case some one wants to pass an item after all
- Showing your dots larger on target and as first.
- Specific dot timer bar
- Specific hot timer bar
-Option to auto join a 'fate' group on entering fate (can be put off) it's a pain to heal fates other wise.
- More UI models, personally I find the party model way to big.
As DD I find it fine, as healer it isn't adequate compared to what can be done by a good modder.
- Simple pet bar option :
Aggressive: Does what ever it wants
Defensive: Only uses abilities you assign through options
Passive: Manually.
You can fix this in the Character Configuration settings. Don't remember the exact text, but it's on the third or forth tab under Combat Effects (or something similar). There will be three categories - "Self", "Party" and "Other" - which can be set to "Full", "Limited" or "None".
Couple of pet/minions suggestions:
- As much as I don't want XIV to turn into XI and hate the "make this like XI" suggestions; Don't allow pets in cities. There is an enormous amount of lag in Limsa at the moment due to the mass of Arcanists who don't dismiss their pets when they're not needed.
- As much as there is an equivalent to /ignorepet which doesn't allow targeting of other people's summoned pets, this doesn't apply to Minions. Please extend it to do so.
I got one, allow people who made characters to play on their server.
Have something where for stats like parry, block, ect it shows the percentage it is at. Ie parry 15%
That's like saying, it's annoying to have to take your wallet out of your pocket when you want to pay for something. It's absolutely lazy, you should just admit that you'd prefer a system that allows you to be lazy...
I wonder if people realize you can right-click on the image of the item the guy is waiting for, instead of searching through your bag? It's a lot faster.
One point: if this is for 'key items' only, you'll see a couple of story missions that utilize the auto-turn in, which would be pointless. And it wouldn't work for regular missions or leves, because of the option to turn in HQ versions of your items, which is the key to making, oh, about triple XP.
How about making windowing outta the game work right? It seems like I crash about 50% of the time I window out of Full Screen mode. I've since resorted to using Full Screen-Windowed mode which allows you to window out without crashing but I'd rather not use it, you take a small performance hit.
Anyone else having this problem?
Above your HP section of the bar it will say "ALL" or "Others"
when you enter battle mode (attacking monsters) it automatically switches to "Others" limiting what you can target with left and right to any monster or npc in targetable range/view. (this is to bypass players outside of party keeping you from selecting monsters)
When outside of battle it normally sits on "ALL" which of course allows you to target anything.
If you want to cycle between the targeting modes please use L1(LB if you have xbox or equivalent for pc) + one of the action buttons to use one of the various targeting filters. (it can also be modified and enabled via the character settings from the main menu " things like aggro enimies, non part pc, minions, npc)
PS i Replied as soon as i saw your post i wonder if someone else already responded with this info. In that case you may just ignore me.
Hittin tab works best no target carby
For crafting material tool tips, please identify what crafting / gathering class they are used for as it's a pain to remember what belongs to which class.
UI:
Ability to remove Summoner's pet bar
Ability to make Summoner's pet bar verticle
Ability to lock hotbars in place (locking right now only locks your abilities in place)
Ability to repair all (inventory, armory, equipped)
Bring back the quest tracking from before where you can add and remove which quest you want tracked. Right now if there's to many quest, it will pick at random and your inactive quest will not show on the map.
Chocobo Companion:
Make chocobo campanion not kick you out of duty finder
Either let you ride another mount while your chocobo campanion is out or add a sort of "hop on hop off" function. Wasting gysalh greens everytime you want to move to a different area is not fun
Re-organized OP, added everything worthwhile up to end of page 7 (I think).
I changed it to say "ignore only right-clicks, ignore all clicks in combat". That should be a good compromise, no?
Handing over quest-items is entirely redundant (gameplay-wise). Not having to do it would increase quality of life by that merit alone.
I understand there are quests where it plays quite a big role, but the amount could well be reduced imo. Thanks for posting.
How hard is it to not accidentally hit skill buttons while mounted?
Almost every MMO ever has auto-dismount on skill-use, either as an option in the game, or through add-ons.
1: Yes, so rude to the NPCs!
You can press X to click through friendly players, no problem. 20 birds more or not won't make a difference, you have to press the button most of the time anyway. But yeah, auto-dismount at least is a must, current implementation is a nightmare.
2: Well, seeing how they are in the game however, I'm making a suggestion on how to improve upon their existance. I find your selfish stance on minions non-immersive. Or something. :P
As for the trading thing, make a new thread for that issue imo, it is complicated enough (I agree with what you said, but this is not the place). Thanks.
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet: Please add keyboard hotbar functionality to the UI options on PS3. From what I can tell, you did a good job of integrating it onto gamepad, but I'm not much of a gamepad person (especially with more complex games like this). Everything else works on the keyboard-- I'd like to be able to fight as well. :]
