It didnt break either, and they leveled up... And it had more depth
Only the vision "rocks with powers" stayed. Its a materia knock off rather then a materia salute.

Can we have crawlers back in the game? :D I miss murdering those fat caterpillars for silk.
If you look at the market prior to the Atomos event, I'd make arguments towards it fluctuating as much as it did just due to the price of something being right in your face. FFXI only had a price history; everything else was guesswork. Some undercutting ensued, but for the most part things stayed stable if supply levels were normal. If FFXIV kept price history but didn't show what an item was listed for and only showed how many were listed, it MAY balance things out some, but nothing is certain.
With the new (smaller) zones I would like to see something like Conquest from XI.
In FFXI, there was Conquest, Besieged and Campaign which determined what rewards/items were offered for sale/trade in the main cities and for what prices. They were dependent on player participation to affect the outcome and the "political layout" of the land.
Oh and also this...

and this...

I can't really see conquest the history really does not set the story line up for it...unless its just alliance territory v/s beastmen and garleans... besieged i think would only work like if we had an outpost in mhordona / outside of gridiana/alamihgo border where were constantly fighting control for a castle or something against garleans... can work with beastmen...

What XIV can take from XI to make it better
24 hour pop NM's were my favourite part of XI, my LS always got claim because we had dedication.

We will get it but the fight will be against eachother guild companies lol with a castle that seems to be like the white tower from LOTR so expect 2 guild companies trying to get in with 3 primals flying around destroying invaders and the castle XD will be fun
Gear swapping
Good, long, rewarding, content
dual Wielding
more jobs/classes.
White box around +1 items.
Level up speed.
No classes.
No materia.
More weapons. (Guns, maces, crossbows, etc)
Being able to unequip weapons.
Auction House.
Subjobs.
Make FFXI-2! I'll play it!
FFXI's system didn't prevent undercutting at all. People still did it constantly just as they do in this game. Undercutting in fact is what keeps prices from inflating (durrrr). It is what will prevent prices from being out of control as some people are preditcing with the redenomination. What I hated about XI's system is you had to guess what the lowest price was- if you bid more, you paid more, and the person with the lowest price sold the item and gets the higher amount you paid anyway. If anything this encourages undercutting more than being able to see the prices. At least with XIV's system you don't have to guess what you're going to pay- You also aren't obligated to buy the cheapest one- and no matter which item you buy, you know how much you are paying and the buyer knows how much they are receiving. Undercutting is part of every economy, be it video game or real life. You have to accept that it exists and that it will happen no matter what you try to do about it.
Simple fact: if there is an above average supply of an item, people will be able to under cut because there are so many available- people dont want to pay high prices for a common good. If the supply drops, people aren't able to undercut because it doesn't help them sell faster, so they raise their price in order to get more out of each sale.
Supply and demand people. High supply= "undercutting," low supply = "price gouging" Either way, someone always wins and someone always loses.
1. large scale full linkshell events (dynamisis type not dynamisis copy)
1. party play missions (epic battles all laced into it)
1. tons of NM's with meaningful drops
1. events that can be done 24/7 (like sky/sea not copies)
1. solo classes (like bst and pup, but make them important to endgame too)
1. keep grind leveling ala ffxi (sb type leveling was fun, keep it an option)
1. caps (make it worse then ffxi, caps on anything you can think of)
1. make exploring or running around zones dangerous, (i want to feel like there are parts where i'ma die if not careful)
1. low drop rate items worth the time and effort for ..lots of them. (keep the players who play happy too)
1. create a system that was like gear swapping but without swapping or blinking (aka making farming 10different body types of same class worth doing. maybe adding everything from each piece to one body)
1. would love furniture back, miss that from carpentry (think it's for sure on way)
1. party play party play party play party play party play party play party play party play party play
1. 1. 1. 1. lol couldn't help but notice that.
Gear swapping sucks, no thanks. I don't want to carry 60 pieces of gear for a single job just to be considered acceptable.
If you like XI's grind better, go play XI.Quote:

Every class is able to play solo. Don't want special classes just for that purpose. Such classes were never relevant in XI. These classes were "solo classes" because they (in the view of the community, I don't necessarily agree with the statement) sucked- not because they were built for solo play.Quote:

Currently every event in the game can be done essentially 24/7Quote:
1. events that can be done 24/7 (like sky/sea not copies)
Everything in the game except levequests is party play already.Quote:
1. party play missions (epic battles all laced into it)
Larger scale events are already on the way.Quote:

Yes, we're probably going to get furniture because we're getting a seemingly robust housing system. Makes sense and I support the notion.Quote:

I like how Ingolf made a legitimate thread with somewhat reasonable requests to be taken from FFXI, and then ten people just straight up ask for FFXI-2.
I liked XI because it was XI and I like XIV because it's XIV. I wish people would stop demanding one game be transformed into the other.Quote:
i would if it was the same game, it's worse then this one in it's leveling i hear. stop telling people to go to another game, i'm sure there are plenty of mmo's you can just go to as well. and none of them already had an epic mmo like ffxi under there wings to compare to.
The main scenario is being totally redone. None of your complaints about it are relevant because the old main scenario is going away.Quote:
when i said missions i meant the main story line, via COP in ffxi, every expansion main story had tons of epic fights in them. we solo'd the first set in ffxiv witch is total fails. you would of thought at least the last one would of been epic group battle.
I like HNM if they're popped, or if they don't have multi-day respawn timers with hours long windows you have to sit through between pop possibilities. I don't like HNM that require you to keep track of how many days its been a "normal" vs "HQ" HNM, , make you wait for excessive amounts of time when you could be doing something that's actually fun, etc.Quote:
I wasn't expecting better tbh. I meant to word my original post better but it was done in a rush. A ton of people took the hump at the fact that I liked HNM.
I liked XI's HNMs because battling them was fun. I didn't however like the waiting game or the pulling clusterfluff.
How old are you... 6?Quote:
woot we agree on 1. thing. glad i listed them all as 1. lol see we agree with everything. you rock.
Oh, neither was I. I don't even know why I felt the urge to point that out. With these forums it's pretty much a given.
Say something from FFXI sounds like a bad idea. WELL YOU JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW AMAZING FFXI WAS YOU JUST WANT ANOTHER WOW CLONE.
Say you want an idea from FFXI. YEAH LET'S ADD THAT AND GEAR SWAP AND LEVEL CAPS AND MAAT AND A BUNCH OF OTHER ASININE STUFF.
That said I would like to see better HNMs. Open world and instanced. I would also love for them to have their own theme, and be worthy of having that said NM theme.
Also Job quests that have you explore the entire world, since that was really what made FFXI great. The exploration.
well to be fair if you don't like most of the things that were in ffxi, it was pretty original to me. asking to not have things from ffxi is then saying i want them from wow, or other mmo's that are similar right? though i do want original mmo.
for HNM's like others said i love the battles, i hate the wait. pop items, farming the items would be awesome. make a sky like zone but the nm's keep repopping like the nm's we have now. low ass drop rates and add farming mobs or something to higher the drop rates, i dunno just tossing something out. but yeah lots of HNM's would rock. i hate going afk every 25mins for hours or days. take the tiem waits and make us kill stuff during that time, even if it still takes just as long to actually get to kill one of them beasts.
and again sorry for loving ffxi and realizing there hasn't been a mmo like it since. again asking for things not to be ffxi is like saying i want a wow clone there is only those 2 type of mmo's out really. and if you loved any other mmo and can use that word then you know there is like 50 other mmo's that are similar to play. so i don't get why they keep failing.
also this discussion has kinda become like religion on this site, it wrong to talk about religion(ffxi) but it's ok for the atheists to spend all day talking about it's non existence. if you want to evolve your mmo's then i have the right to say screw off just the same.
Considering I enjoyed FFXI, I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with liking the game.
The problem is people bitching about this game not being FFXI-2. From day fucking one it was said that this game would be more casual friendly.
Calm down Alhanelem, don't ruin my thread by starting more arguments again.
I don't want XIV to be XI-2, but I think that game isn't as evil as everyone implies here (And it's the complete opposite on the XI forums).
I for one don't want a completely unique MMO. I've seen what happens when that's the case. You can have similarities to another game, whilst letting it have merit of its own. Making XIV into an unique snowflake isn't a good idea.
Simpsons did it.
This thread hasn't been made yet . . .
Look at my Screenshot. That's how epic XI was lol
XI has it all and i hope XIV will be even more epic!
Mithra noses.
I really liked the levelling progression from F11 for me
Ronfaure > La Theine > Valkurm > Secret Beach > Qufim etc.
It gave the impression that you were on a journey/adventure. Different areas would open up before you, I could not wait to discover the next one.
biggest thing for me would be to not treat the overworld as a teleportation hub that is to be skipped at ones lesuire.
no different then starting a totally new reroll for another class but doing the same quests. only diff i would say is you get to enjoy it with 5others in ffxi. there is other parties all around you too. you want to explore a zone for exp more then one job like in gw2? hell no. but the first one or 2 or 3 are the best experiences ever in ffxi. i've yet to have anyone give a story about how amazing there quest to quest experience was.
the name....
i agree lol, i think i worded what i said wrongly. i was saying gw2 was opposite of ffxi leveling. i hated gw2 i hit 80 and i have not loged in for weeks. but that game apparently had tons of what people call exploring while leveling. i hated it i ran right to leveling places that were good. half my maps had like 1percent open.
Professional Jobs
Thamaturge > Black Mage > Black Wizard
Gladiator > Paladin > Templar
Arcanist > Summoner > Caller
Imitator > Blue Mage > Mime
Well, whats the rush to get all jobs leveled?
I remember it took me nearly a year to get my 1st job to 75 on FFXI and once I had done it I actually was really looking forward to going back to the basics on some other job.
In FFXIV I agree... once you have leveld your first 50 doing levequests or what not you really feel like you just want to have your jobs PLd to 50 because you cant be asked to go through the same stuff again.
Make the lvling slower and more of an experience. Make level 50 MEAN something and be something to be admired not something that everyone should have after 2 weeks of playing.
Besides that, I don't care if nothing else is taken from 11...
(BTW... ffxiv already is very much like ffxi... the races, some of the same character, starting cities etc etc...)
