It's a good thing the beta IS in sight... As said previously, the 1st is not a shutdown date, it's a final save date. If you really love 1.0, you'll be able to play it long after the testing starts- it just won't contribute to your 2.0 progress.Quote:
Then dont shut down the game till beta is up or at least in sight.
Call it alpha, beta, omega, gamma, whatever- testing is slated to begin soon after the final save. Initial testing will be with new characters, because the final save data, as already established, will take a long time to process. The beta can't truly start until that finishes- but that doesn't mean everyone will be twiddling their thumbs.
I'm sure almost everyone would love more time to unlock achievements or get white ravens or whatever. But delaying the final save will quite simply delay the release of the game- Yoshida said this. We'd be making all potential new players wait for us to get all our achievements and goals done.
Obviously, nothing I can say will convince you that they have a plan, they're doing things the way they're doing them for a reason, and they're not interested in ruining you or causing you harm/frustration/whatever. So this will be my last comment directed at you on the matter.
Yeah last words were:
"Alpha will begin in late September or Early October."
Then
"Beta will begin in November."
Then
"Alpha will begin after the worlds come offline on November 11th."
Then
"Alpha will begin near end of October (basically late November.)"
No real word of Beta honestly.
Arent we starting new characters in the beta? Not sure why we need them to start beta. Unless maybe they are going to wipe the data as soon as it is converted.. XD that's scary lol
Pretty sure they originally planned us on using our characters but later said that they dont think it is possible - and that we can use the benchmark to load our characters and modify them and implant a code provided to make our characters from that benchmark.
I told you so!
I made a post about this very topic, and everyone decided to oppose me! JP midnight for Nov. 1 is some time in the day for North American Oct. 31. Further proof that people come to this forum to be contrary.
loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool~
There's your Halloween event! hahaha. We are another step closer to 2.0 :)
I lost IQ points thinking about why someone felt the need to make this thread.
Dammit. I was hoping it would be like 11:59 PM on the first. I took the whole final week of 1.0 off from work too =(
No ARR until March, guys.
Don't get your hopes up.
No ARR until July 2015 guys.
We're all going to log in using NerveGears (or something equivalent).
I'm not sure I'd wait that long, but if I'd definitely want support for it later on down the road if we did get something like it.
In the short term, I'm hoping SE takes a look at the Oculus Rift. That would be cool.
how about we all take a breather and realize that the time has finally come for the game to be redone. after all the hate that has been smeared on this game ( not including us ) lets take a step back, appreciate what weve done, and actually do something outside of eorzea
(i say this because school has restricted me from playing and im kinda glad i am not gonna be missing out on much, nyahh lol)
why? because they can and want...
Oh man I thought this was a forum and instead I seem to have found my way into a private argument that doesn't concern me.... I'll just let myself out...
I found this quote from RPGamer website this morning. It was from a recent interview with Yoshi. It wasn't part of the actual interview just a footnote at the bottom of the page.
"RPGamer would like to thank Naoki Yoshida and the PR team helping Square Enix for arranging this interview. Stay tuned for more information as we near the 2013 release of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on PC and PlayStation 3."
Are they hinting at a 2013 release? Do they know something we don't?

In the time it takes to complain in this thread, you could have accomplished whatever the few hours of time zone difference you didn't account for would have taken from you
