The problem is generally that without that mistake, there is generally nothing to heal.
As a healer you don't really exist to heal, but to be a safety net for people so they can make mistakes.

I didn't even realize tanks had an achievement mount.
That feels ludicrous given how easy tanking is. I understand getting rid of Sword Oath effects because fighting aggro isn't really the most fun mechanic for a lot of tanks, but the incoming damage is so trivial for tanks and their mit so excessive that people can basically blunder their way through fights with 8 vuln stacks or something. It's really silly.
if dps still had postionals on avarage id agree but as a dps you dont have to worry about anything at all anymore outside avoiding an aoe or 2 and doing damage lol
Yes/no if its just one or two people getting a stack below 3 ya its bad thinking but when your dealing with more than 4 people getting stacks over 3 constantly and standing in every aoe it is punishing the healer and not just cuz "you have to heal" but when your dealing with that many people standing in everything with multiplie stacks and even with the mp regen skills your mp is constantly around 1-2k it is punishing the healer for the partys screw ups lol and when your mp drains and it no longer possible to cover their screw ups due to it happaning multiple times ya it does its basicly like doing aurum vale and your dps and tank dont eat the fruits and end up getting 4-5 stacks of burn or the other one lol
It's a tricky thing to understand unless you've actually healed for any real amount of time.
To break it down simply, there's two kinds of healing you kind of need to think about: what I call "tax healing", and "mistake healing". Mistake healing is what everyone memes about. The glorified babysitter. The unpredictable spikes of damage because the DPS stood in bad for the 800th time.
Tax healing is when you have to heal incoming damage even if you do everything correctly. It's your unavoidable raidwides, and more importantly, it's a mob's auto attacks.
The problem right now is that tax healing is basically limited to once in a while tankbusters and raidwides, which can often be brushed away by one of the healer's many CDs, or half the time by tank CDs. There are some exceptions--a few stack markers with repeated hits, etc. But the actual base incoming damage is very lacking compared to say...Susano, even on Normal.
Almost all of the damage a healer will contend with is caused by player mistakes or lackthereof. It makes a very all or nothing, "too much" or "too little" experience due to a lack of steady, consistent incoming damage and an overemphasis on mistakes to compensate.
lol on the surface yes but in reality no lol tank more so you are the correct healer you not the base and a good party wise you would be accurate but you obviously havent played a healer with random qs and only have qed with a prebuilt party on a healer lol come back to me when you deal with a team of morons 20 plus times a day, hate to break it to you but you do have to think to play correctly on a healer on a dps all you have to is hit the new lit up button. On a healer, you kind of have to do a little basic math of your crit heal number your normal heal number and the number of attacks/ damage coming in into the tank as for your nonsense thought that incorrect I've mained ast back until it was destroyed in shadowbringers, some things are not as obvious but are there if you are caring about the job and everything to do with it as a healer and in most parts YOU NEED THAT, you have to watch the numbers on the hp pool calc the damage they take per hit vs per group of hits and vs what you can recover with a single heal while keeping up your dps dots on the group and damage lol
Tanks although its little they do have to figure out what a healer can recover and perform as / pull correctly with what your healer can output and deal with then you have to calc the damage you taken from certain things like the ice crystals hit like hell lol
The real reason why vunability punishes the healer is if it keeps stacking the amount of numbers you have keep with it raises and shifts the amount and math you will do in your head during the fight
i played the full tier with randoms in pf as healer tank AND dps, so pls healer isnt hard at all, current healer is more braindead then everything else, you have so many OGCDs to be ready for every situation pls dont do like healer would be sooooo difficulity, they are not. not anymore.
I agree with OP because I actually LIKE playing scholar, but I'll queue into roulettes as a tank specifically to work on achievements.
"Current ones" maybe yes but that isn't really because the healer itself is easy its more like warriors and other jobs are essentially over all gods lol, but I'm not even going to talk about the current state of healing in the game because on that standpoint you would be correct, these achievements for tanks have been in the game since ARR and through multiple addons back when healing did require some basic math and other thinking, and IF SE is smart they will automatically fix the healing and deal with the downhill state they have created with jobs since stormblood ended lol Atleast I hope they will in 8.0 and deal with the issues like what has happaned to healer game play side and go back to how it use to be
Honestly, if you feel your job is that stressful, maybe you should play smth else. I used to like tanking and hated healing as one felt fun and the other made me nervous and stressed. Now it flipped completely and I love healing (progging in savage the most) with zero stressed applied while tanking there feels too much.Quote:
healer job is 5-10xs more stressful than tanks
So it’s a matter of perspective I believe
Id agree but what else is someone going to play if they like to use their brain even if its on a tiny % and more of a self forced thing like preforming constant math on hits /hp pool etc lol Im not disagreeing but everything else kind of puts me to sleep lol
atleast with healer on ast i can think about card placement again (kinda) and hp pools/dmg input and healing output math to keep me awake.
You've got it wrong btw is it stressful sometimes yes it is, but thats also whats enjoyable about it. The issue is its stressfull with nearly no reward for the effort you put into it, while tanks are not stressfull at all and get a mount achievement reward. This isnt a complaint saying "boo hoo healers are stressfull hard nonsense" this is a complaint that you as a healer have to put up with more bs and stress then any other job (and that stress can be fun on the job yes and make it fun to play and keep you awake and focus on w/e your doing) and at the end of the day you get nothing out of it you dont get a mount archivement, your job gets ruined by the dev team and treated like it doesn't exist and players anytime they screw up they blame and target the healer and you get nothing for all you have to deal with on avarage lol
Considering the current climate, yes they should.
It’s sad that we’re so far beyond level 30 and don’t have mounts for the other healers yet.
AST could get a mobile star globe that they sit or float inside, with all the spinning parts, and maybe an Earthly Star inspired constellation effect, with starry sparkles.
SCH could get a fairy that carries them, like Statice. (Also liked the custom Carby idea I saw someone else post!)
SGE… that’s the tough one. Maybe a noulith that they ride on like a rocket, but SGE mains probably have better ideas.
Because a lot of people who play a particular class like the aesthetic of their class and want to see mounts that go along with that.Quote:

I would love all jobs to have a themed mount. Would have been a great lvl 100 reward, especially since they discussed not wanting to increase level caps anymore.
There should definitely be more fun rewards for achievements in this game. Especially themed rewards for classes, that kind of stuff is fun.
Hit 100: Get a themed mount, themed accessories, themed housing stuff.
I'm mostly selfish though and just want more AST stuff that I can use SINCE I CAN'T WEAR THE HATS.
I tend to agree with your hesitation and agree here. Players will just find the easiest way to accomplish it. And to be honest, that's probably helped avoid having really bad tanks only doing it for the achievement in instances. So if they did implement it, at least if there was a super easy way to spam it, that could save instances from players only going green for the mount and not to actually do the job.
Incredibly sad and true, and it annoys me - because it really did not need to be this way. Healers have kits and cure potencies that would allow them to heal NEXT expansion's content without any adjustment to cure potencies or strength at the rate damage currently comes out in most content.
Like look, I'm a tank and I was really happy about the Short Mitigation upgrades with all those cure potencies because I thought they'd design content to actually NEED all that healing, especially when accounting for all the Healer + DPS additions. But instead, they are too lax with the damage because they are probably worried that players would struggle to keep party members alive if damage was actually frequent enough to matter.
Yet here we are... with healers being bored out of their mind in most content because surprise, the amount of heal access went up but the amount and frequency of damage did not.
Yeah, as someone who genuinely enjoys being able to support the party as a dps I’d love that they can help with healing if it was ever actually needed . Instead it just allows parties to drop the healer role completely lol.
I never understood the devs logic for their whole ‘we can’t make healing [hard] because it would be too much pressure on the healer’ excuse. Like, first of all that’s why there are two of them lol. And secondly…healers aren’t the only ones who can heal.
In fact, that logic is probably the exact reason tanks/dps have so much healing/mitigation available in the first place.
They act as if healing is going to be some mega tactical endeavour where healers are pushing out the highest max HPS possible and still struggle so much that every DPS and both tanks need to be able to contribute. The content where such a thing exists is absolutely not in the room with us now lol
I think healers absolutely should have achievement mounts just like tanks do. I love the custom carbuncle or fairy idea for Scholar, the floating Orrery or astronomical device for Astrologian, and for Sage maybe a platform supported by four floating nouliths?
I feel they should do that AFTER the make it so healers have to heal more often in dungeons. As it stands playing healer is just so boring. Not much healing to do after level 55. As a warrior the amount I need healing is.... negligible
