Bold of you to think the job designers don't just change things willy-nilly and throw crap at the wall hoping it'll stick.
Much easier to blame mythical "community feedback" than realizing that maybe, just maybe, the devs just flat out suck lmao.

It’s hard when 3/4 of the balancing problems in casual content can be directly attributed to bad tank balancing. In this thread in particular it’s obviously their “vision” as the OP puts it that tanks should be immortal and the players are getting sick of that, hence it’s perfectly on topic
If the devs can’t help but respond to every piece of feedback with a mallet when a chisel is all that’s needed then that speaks of them having a design problem
Using your own example “hey can you please reduce dark arts spam a bit” sure we heard your feedback so we destroyed DRK’s entire job structure and design
That method of design doesn’t fill me with confidence
Remember back in HW/SB about healer memes?.
—Don't tell me what to do.
—I won't follow your big pulls.
— Cleric Stance? I'm a Healer.
— AOE damage ? Dude I'm a Healer.
—Bane? Rofl ask the SMN.
—I hope SE stop giving us damage or dots it's giving me anxiety.
You are correct; a lot of people weren't around to know the true history of the healer journey in xiv. However, square enix needs to learn what nuance is, over-correcting to 1 side or the other is never a good decision. It's why I'm actually ok with the state of the jobs in dawntrail, it's getting better without it being an extreme over-correction. The state of healers is a big problem though, it shouldn't take 3 or 4 expansions to fix it.
Stormblood was the expansion where they got healers right; no more cleric stance yet Sch was fun, Ast was fun even if a bit overpowered, and Whm was fun even if somewhat weak compared to the other 2 (but this is what happens when jobs are made to be creative and unique, one job will be left out of the fun and out of high end raids as well).
Wait...did no one catch that? Yoshida said they changed Viper based on players saying they couldn't see mechanics, then said they didn't listen to player feedback. Sooo which is it?
Its funny because on like Dragoon/Ninja I can reasonably see this being a problem due to the constant double weave and oGCD spam which led to constant effects that could make it hard to track things but on Viper? That job plays itself, the only time you double weaved it gave you a recast with enough time to triple weave.
Outside of like Reawaken Viper has some of the most visual clarity of any Melee in the game with its effects, this is just a made up excuse by the devs who clearly wanted to change Viper prior to launch but didn't have enough time.
Tinfoil hat on: They might actually be taking the memes more seriously then the actual feedback.
They DID say they chose Tural because the players "really wanted more tacos", which only really started because of Ruby Weapons' "Big Fat Tacos" meme. People meme'd about Warrior being too angry to die along with it's big unga bunga damage numbers, and they buffed warrior's healing and mitigation to make it even more unkillable and gave it bigger skills to do even more unga bunga damage numbers. People meme on Dark Knight about being edgy and alone and not having a lot of the same things the other tanks do, so they balanced Dark Knights to be the worst tank currently by a landslide when compared to the other three by giving it almost nothing that the other three tanks currently do and leaning into that edgy and alone meme by making it so nobody wants to play on the playground with them.
The memes seem to be dictating more then any actual feedback at this point.
Ummm excuse me, why are you playing the game then?? Hmm ??????????????
