It say you will get instant items on preorder?!? Well?

Just got my EU code after checking out as a guest in SE store. Took 11 hours.

Ended up using the guest checkout because I couldn't login at all. I suppose I'll lose the membership points since my SE store account is tied to a different email I no longer have access to, but I probably won't have enough points to get rewards anyway if I'm only buying an expansion every 2 years.

What I like says might take a few hours to get pre order codes but now been over 13 hours and still no email with codes. Last expansion it only took 2 hours before getting the codes and bought it on first day pre orders started.

I purchased the Digital Collector's Edition yesterday as soon as it was available March 26 at 9AM PDT from another online store that was not Mogstation/Steam. I immediately received my Dawntrail preorder/early access code (the one that comes with Zidane minion) after the order. I believe we are supposed receive another game code for Dawntrails right before the game is released on July 2. That probably includes the digital collector edition items like Garnet minion if I recall correctly.

In the past, I purchased Shadowbringers and Endwalker from the Mogstation and received the code almost immediately as well. Square Enix changed to another e-commerce platform company a year or so ago. Perhaps their systems are not used to the demand in processing orders.

Got my code this morning. Minion & earring obtained. Weeeee

Last expansion they weren't requiring the payment method to be charged when the pre-order was placed.

This time they are. I read through the terms of sale notice and it sounded like codes would not be sent until they receive confirmation the payment method was successfully charged. That could take a while depending on the payment method used.

While being aware of the TOS is always good advice, the point is that the messaging between how back-end payment system processing and orders are process and applied and the marketing page is inconsistent, and considering that that the message regarding "instant delivery" is front and center, I would regard it as misleading.

well i got my pre-order codes for the bonus items and registered them at the moogle store so all good for me as for you cry babys good luck.

Most advertising these days is misleading in one way or another. It's design to trigger emotions instead of consumer thought. Advertisers are generally very good at doing their due diligence to make sure what is shown won't result in legal trouble.

It's up to the consumer to do their due diligence to protect their own interests. People could try to sue about getting their pre-order bonus items 12-18 hours later instead of "instantly" but you're going to have a hard time finding a judge that won't toss it out and try to find a reason to fine you for wasting their time. You're not suffering any undue hardship or loss by the delay. Is it genuinely worth arguing about?

Especially since technically you are getting the bonus items delivered to your characters instantly after registering your pre-order bonus code on Mogstation. I haven't seen anyone yet state they didn't get their items right away once they entered their code.

I had no idea people that players were incredibly eager to get their earring for XP.

On the other hand, I find it very interesting that you're spending so much time defending what I would consider to be a very poor customer experience, whereas I would be more interested in providing clearer customer communications and selecting a better logistics provider.

Honest question here, for PC players: Why use Steam for this game? Is there any particular benefit to it over just using the game's own launcher? I see people complaining about it fairly regularly, but I play on console, so I have no experience with it (and obviously I'm not gonna buy the whole game again just to find out).

If you live in a country with regional pricing, yes, otherwise no.

it takes a long time I ordered my thing 4:30 pm(ish) and then got the codes at 3:21 am.

Which caused me to go full panic mode.
I should really be used to this after all these years.

Anyone else waiting longer than a day?

it really just depends on how you are.

Steam Really is only the pain the first time.

Otherwise it's just as I'd imagine SE store/Mogstation to be.

Log into Mogstation and Click the pop-ups to go to steam, pay, get sent back to mogstation.
Done.

Preorder Day 1? digital edition?
Steam, buy, Done.(waiting for code if it's overloaded. but asides that, no big deal if you don't want the things NOW. or are busy elsewhere. Less of an Issue the later in the day it is.)

It's really not an issue.

The issue is confusion of how the pieces work together the first time.

How it interacts, how do you pay.
If SE did any efforts to improve that Front, then it'd be the same, or better depending on the person. Than the Other Purchase types.

Except for Console which seems to have the most direct, and dedicated Routing. Today.

It's all just preferences in the end. and Most that do enjoy it or stick with it have their own reasons.

(TBH, the last one that comes to mind, is the fact that almost all of it is on steam.)

SE has proven to us expansion after expansion that this is the amount they want to invest in their website and if you STILL bought the game from the SE site, you voted with your wallet that the customer experience you received there was acceptable enough for them to still earn your sale.

If you make it, see you again in 2 years for 8.0s exact same scenario, for now continue being loud, angry and accomplishing nothing because the only mechanism for change at the SE level (separate from FFXIV btw) is to vote with your wallet.

Square just needs to learn how to allocate funds properly more than anything. This could all be smoother if they were actually using all of the profits from 14 to improve the game and the systems surrounding it instead of funneling into other projects or NFTs.

While it's possible that this may be repeated in future, whether or not it is "inconsequential" , and as to what "priority" it is for anyone other than you- is not yours to make.

As LuciferNacht has said, it's up to each person to decide how, when or if they'll order DT, and for some people what they read about billing and payment affects their decisions.

It's worth remembering that FFXIV only exists today because Square Enix took profits from other games and used those profits first to develop FFXIV v.1, and then to rebuild the game as ARR after v1 failed spectacularly. If they'd followed then the policy you're recommending now, there'd be no FFXIV and no profits to argue about.

What SE is doing now with portions of FFXIV's profits could be viewed as simply repaying a debt or providing a return on investment.

They do know how to, and guess what SE has more than one project going on, using some of the coin they got from FFXIV also mean they used Coins gained from other games to make FFXIV in the first place, as for value you get in FFXIV is huge, especially of you are a gamer that is in to multiple things, and nope the content does not have to be level 90 or 100 for it to work out it can just as well be 60, 70 or 80 content.

I just pre-ordered and got my in game items instantly after I entered the redemption code.
