I don't know why some people are so upset and hostile over the OP saying she wants an appearance change.
OP: yeah I think the best is just to wait 2.0. If you really can't then I believe you really need to start from scratch :(
Talking about change... if we can change our physical appearance from 2.0 is it safe to assume we can change names as well? will be a mess to find who's who in the LS haha. oh... are LS also transferred...?
anybody as the link on what has been confirmed for 2.0 regarding the character transfer and changes?
Uh, as said in another thread, forum community =|= game community. Forum is full of bitter people, so high flame resistance is needed to survive here.
As for your initial request, the reason we are getting a redesign opportunity in 2.0 is because of the new graphics engine that will make our characters look different.
They also said they are planning to include a barber-type npc after 2.0, so it's coming soon™
Looking at 2 of your characters on the lodestone, you only have one job at 50. This can be recovered within a week, so if you really hate your character that much, just remake it.
That's a silly suggestion and I normally find myself agreeing with you.
Levelling is the easiest aspect, what about achievements, grand company progress, side quest progress, crafting and gathering levelling etc.
There is a lot more to this game than just DoW and DoM.
OP you are just guna have to wait, there is almost next to no reason to add this to 1.x and certainly won't be worth their time, just make sure you choose something you like at the start of 2.0 as I think this is a one time only deal.
the servers wont even be up for that much longer, what 4 months before they are taken down. I would suggest just wait.
Wait till someone makes a plugin called plastic surgeon for xiv ?
I'm almost positive the idea of a barbershop has been floating around as far back as when Tanaka was still in charge, but regardless who thought of the idea we need a barbershop with barbershop singers!

Gotta agree. I just rolled this character less than a month ago, and I've already got Lancer to level 50, and I've got 3/4 DRG AF. I did about 90% of this solo, too. I didn't play every day, and on most days I played, I only did so for a couple hours.
The only thing I'd suggest is to find someone you trust to help you transfer stuff to your new character. I started 100% from scratch, and I kinda wish I'd saved some things.
Also, if you're the master of a linkshell, make sure you disband the shell (go the the NPC and have them break it), otherwise the shell will be in limbo, the GMs can't delete it, and you won't be able to use the name again.
I would restart because I want to experience the new areas that SE worked so hard to redesign.
Anyway back to topic, I think no matter what, everyone will be given a chance to change their appearances when 2.0 starts. I also think a barbershop is a great idea and needs to be implemented in 2.0.
I'm not going to level my GLA and PUG until 2.0
I want to experience all the areas, including the low level ones.
@topic
Hopefully we'll get a barbershop when 2.0 starts.
The only reason we are getting a character change in the first place is because of the new graphic engine in 2.0. Let's be happy for what we have now and look forward to the change in the future.
Put a bag over your face if it bothers you that much! just kidding! :D
How do you play up to level 50 and not realize before then that you hate how your character looks? not just "dislike one thing" but hate?
pple usually think hard when they make characters, especially those who are concerned about how the aesthetics are. They may end up not liking it that much, but for someone to actually end up hating it.... id say its their own fault and just wait >.> SE isnt those type of F2P pay to change your face 9275094387520 times game...
Jesus christ. The OP just requested something people. Sure it's not an urgent request to make- specially since we will be getting this with 2.0 and since there are many more important things to do 2.0 wise, but the hostility here is depressing. also, telling her to reroll is almost out of the question considering she- apparently, barely has time to play. Just because Level cap Can be reached in 3 days or less doesnt mean she Has the time to do it in 3 days. It's so sad to see people be so blatantly rude online.
Anyhow to the OP, I understand everyones taste may change over time. unfortunately for you, yours changed rather quickly. The best thing for you to do is wait for 2.0 and this time make sure you create something you will enjoy for a very long time. Assume you will be with this character and it's appearance until you stop playing Xiv, this may help you choose features in a more profound way, so as to be pleased with it even as years pass by.
On another note, a barber feature would be greatly welcome. I didn't read yoshida was interested on adding that at some point but I'm all for it. I mean we do change our hair styles and- for males our beards in real life. So this would be a very welcome feature.
if your still not sure on 2.o make a mule and see if you like they way it looks then apply it to your character.
thats what im gonna do come 2.0 so im not stuck with a mistake
I think that what the OP is asking for isn't that unreasonable... From time to time, I wish I could change my character's appearance as well, also knowing that 2.0 will come in late september with alpha/beta.
OP, don't feel bad. You're not alone. :)
Actually, it is kind of unreasonable at this point to request it, as there isn't any way they could implement it before 2.0. Why waste time "requesting" the addition of things this late in the game that aren't specifically for 2.0 and beyond?Quote:

Now had this been posted like 6 months ago, or earlier, I wouldn't feel it unreasonable. But doing so now? Just silly to even think it a possibility.
It's easier to implement than people believe..
Besides, people's tastes do change over time, whether short or long periods of time.
I used to hate my Hyur and I wanted to be a mi'qote, but that's going to change. I've grown really attached to my Hyur female since my return, so I might just modify her a bit.. or, if there's a race I like better, I'll choose that instead.
Anywho, I think the OP took a lot of unnecessary flack from other posters in this thread, especially since she apologized for starting the thread in the first place. So don't be quick to bite people's heads off, hm?
i just want to be able to change my hair now and then. Gimme a barber!
There is no point whatsoever in introducing features that won't benefit the pre-2.0 storyline anymore, and that includes any sort of recreation process.
Furthermore, here's a general rule of thumb: DON'T CREATE A CHARACTER YOU DON'T FIND ATTRACTIVE! Geese.
I hope when 2.0 comes out, new players ask people in game for help, and never the community, it's kind of a shame to see what half of you guys post. I think most of you need to re-define the word "rude" in your vocabularies, no need to go on an all out flame war because she wants something you don't.. jesus.

I agree, disagreeing and moving on can be done with relative ease. But I the focus of any rudeness or hatred isn't toward the OP alone, a big problem with the boards is as a lot of people come on here with honest and good posts or ideas, many post ideas that could hinder the game in some way. With the addition of more and more of these posts, I'm sure some people are a bit on edge.
