Using in game gil to get a house is fine, yes. So long as you are just buying the plot from the system itself and not other means. I report those dumb enough to advertise on pf they are selling the house they just won in lotto. I never admitted that buying a house with irl money is ok, maybe take your bias elsewhere. I speak from a place of privilege yes, I also speak as a person that dealt with the same system as every other person. I camped the houses, I swept the wards, I relocated, I reported the bots to no avail, I bid in the lottery and I went to all the extra effort of hand leveling my alt to get access to airships and subs in my FC. If you can't be bothered to go work for that advantage you lament losing, not my problem. Making gil is FAR less effort than all of those other things.

I have said in just about every housing related thread at some point that everyone should be able to get a house, supply being so scarce is a joke. But the system we have at the moment is the BEST it has ever been. You failed to get a house under the previous system? But you want that one back? Makes sense. Rather ask for instanced housing options than say placard clicking is the way to go. I guess I value my health more than you do.

It's perfectly understandable for people to be angry that an advertised game feature is unavailable to them when they otherwise meet the requirements. They have the money, they have the grand company rank but they just cannot get the house because none are available due to the system SE has chosen to adopt. I mentioned in another thread in general about seeing on FF's own site a picture showing all the diff things ffxiv had to offer, housing was there and was a big thing for me and pushed me to play the game. So imagine my annoyance at finding I would need to camp a placard in hopes of beating bots and other players against a random hidden timer. It was the most miserable experience I have ever had in this game. I learned more about the system and roughly what times people would pass out and houses would become buyable on average and got my house. Then lucked out on relocating to a large. But I would never want a new player to suffer that system.

I much prefer lottery, set a bid and forget till results day comes. Much better for your health and mental. But it still does nothing to address the core issue as many say, there are not enough houses. Yoshi P making houses scarce by design to me is just a poor design choice. Housing is fantastic casual content, events give housing items, they are a great form of self expression. Limiting access to that just seems silly to me.

Still we get people who rather than taking their anger out at devs will lash out at other players. They are salty at not winning the lottery and miss the 'good times' of placard clicking and sweeping wards every hour like a second job because MAYBE just MAYBE they would have won that way. If you didn't already win that way, what on earth makes them think it would suddenly work in their favour idk.

Give it a rest already. The housing system was never intended for everyone to have a house and they are never going to change that. They want the housing sectors to be communities focused mostly on FC's. Its been like that since they introduced housing. Personal/instanced housing is never going to happen.

Their design choice is a negative experience for most people trying to interact with the system. So I should hope they stop being so stubborn and change something to meet player demand. Regardless, there have been a few things in this game that were never going to happen and yet.. they still happened. So fingers crossed :)

They need to add the maximum number of bidders for one plot. If someone is late for that, they need to find another one. I am sure most have option #1, #2, #3 when it comes into houses anyway. This also kinda give the people who are early benefit, not in the terms of winning chance but only in participation. Without limits, people will flock to the most desirable plot available. Anything below 1% chance of winning is literally zero. At that point you might as well try your luck at Casinos and buy a real house if you win.

People make their own fc for pretty obvious reasons, mine was to gain access to subs and airships as no FC would let their general members access this content. If private housing allowed me to do so I would not have needed my own FC.

As an FC member neither myself nor any of my friend group had access to those features, now I got the FC house my entire friend group can access that content :)
My FC has myself, some friends and a couple sprouts. But FC housing is and pretty much always was just a personal house for FC leader and a tp hangout spot for it's members. There is no sob story needed to justify making an FC to get access to content that was barred from you. It is their poor design and players are working within it. I avoided making an FC for quite some time but then I found myself needing a material from submarine expeditions and my FC leader was unwilling to send them out to get it (even tho FC members helped set up ALL of those things), at that point I just decided it is time to get something for myself if I want these things. I can't expect anything from other people, if I want it I will get it myself.

If someone want's to buy a house via buying an account, sure. That sounds like a lot of hassle, since I would assume the buyer has an account already with reasonable time investment. So you either abandon that account and use the one with the house or accept you need to pay 2 subs and switch accounts any time you want to decorate. Not only that account buying is always risky business as the person you bought it from can claim it was stolen and take it back with the intent to sell the plot again. RMT is never a smart move imo.

I don't belittle less wealthy players, I point out anyone can make the gil if they bothered to make the effort, I wouldn't call that belittling personally. It is not difficult, if gil is your main issue for yourself or your FC. You didn't prepare enough.

I would say if you are super fine you would not go hunting through post history, looking a little unhinged there :D

hey I got personal mansions on 2 worlds and an FC mansion on my main, how's that for bragging xD happy times! Each time I look down (literally) from empyreum 52th plot on those Limsa-dwelling peasants scrounging for that last half mil to buy a small, I smile. You plebs make my day.

By this, do you mean, each plot has a maximum number of bidders (say 20 as an example) and once that is subscribed further entries are closed?

If the devs didn't want solo players to have a FC of their own, they would have required 4 separate player accounts to create and maintain a FC. Yet they didn't.

Additionally, FC master is a rank awarded to only one of the 4 founding members. It's always been a system where one player character has all the power, whether there are 200 other members or none. The only way to guarantee access to those features (that were put in the game for a reason) is to be the leader. Others can tag along if they want.

It makes me feel fucking fantastic because all these paying subscribers have an equal opportunity at owning a house without having to give up hours of their life to spam clicking a placard.

Apartments and FC rooms are available for people who want their own little corner of Eorzea. They can be decorated just fine. If you're not in a FC... well, you could have founded a FC at the end of the first lottery and met the 30-day requirement to buy land by the start of the second lottery. And now you would own your own FC plot that you could decorate to your hearts content and start playing with FC workshops.

A couple are still attempting it, even though it's been made more difficult with the lotto being bot proof and FC lead transfer taking 30 days. Damn it sure is a shame that almost all wards are empty and the neighborhood feel is completely nonexistent. What SE wants and what has actually been happening for the last 7 years are not the same. Keep settling for bare minimum and thinking the billion dollar game company can't do better.

If they want the housing wards to be communities, then why oh why did they not design a housing system that encourages that? The wards are generally dead. People teleport directly to their house and most don't hang around socialising outside. There is nothing to do in a housing ward, there is nothing to participate in, nothing to make you feel part of a community.
And if owning a house was meant to be exclusive, why have they never said so?

The fact is, they over-priced houses initially and many FCs struggled to get the gil required. The result of that was many plots standing empty in the wards. When players asked for personal housing, Yoshi made the mistake of deciding to let them have the 'unwanted' FC plots. Since then, the prices have come down and demand has soared, individuals and FCs have been competing for houses ever since.

There is no way to get that genie back in the bottle. The devs need to look seriously at ways of solving the shortage of houses. Instanced houses would have the advantage of being a flexible solution. Adding more wards runs the risk of either not meeting demand (most likely) or, meeting it but then having the wards empty out if the game declines in popularity. Since wards are persistent regardless of whether anyone is in them, they are much more resource-hungry than an instanced house would be.

Part of the problem is Fc and people both use the same lots.. Yes they split wards to fc only.. but still its the same housing plots..

FC are hooked to grand companies why not instance Fc housing into your grand company door and zone in there leave the wards to people..

you will still be short cause each server has more then 7,200 people on it..

Maybe the answer is moving Fc's to instance off the grand company doors and releasing enough wards to cover the amount of players you allow per server...the ward plaque has plenty or room to add more wards//

This would also allow SE the option to make Grand halls for Fc instead of just using a regular house with 1 more door added lol

I always found it weird that the houses are the same.. most games FC have different type halls the normal housing

(reminds me of RL in my town we have 1 poor biker gang that used a house as a club house... and one richer biker game that bought a building n made there own hall...The poor bikers..parking problems not enough room..the other group there own parking lot and plenty of room)

What I believe many failed to realize is that although placard camping was bad you had a lot less competition compared to now. You see these houses that now have 200+ bids if this were the old system you would at best may have 20 or so people. So yes bidding makes it fair all across the board but in turn it now decreases peoples odds of actually getting a house. In the old system people who really and I mean really wanted a house would placard camp. So both systems have their pros and cons. Only thing that can be done (more like what square is set on) is continuing to release more wards to balance out the supply and demand.

Placard camping was a terrible band aid. It basically created conditions in which the only possible ways to get a house were through botting or dysfunctional behavior. In comparison, bidding is a very good band aid. Its problem is that it is still just a band aid on a bullet wound. (and at initial implementation, a defective band-aid on a bullet wound lol )

What i find silly of se Is that they created "Island Sanctuary", an entire new system that nobody was expecting and nobody asked for. They could have created an instanced housing instead, and people could have chosen to go for the wards or for a house in the new system.

Except JP players had been asking for side content with those types of features and it's been expected since it was first teased at the NA FanFest in 2018.

The problem has been players expecting it to be a solution to housing when that was never the intent.

We know that the JP servers don't have a big problem with housing. Even when NA filled up, most of the JP servers (with a few exceptions like Tonberry) had dozens if not hundreds of houses available. They didn't end up filling their wards until COVID hit and lockdowns left people with plenty of time stuck at home to play. But JP has the advantage of 32 worlds to spread out their lower overall population compared to NA's 24.

To be fair, NA worlds have probably remained crowded because NA players tend to equate crowded worlds with how good a game is (foolish but people are people). Players were complaining about being on dead NA worlds back in Stormblood despite those worlds still having much larger populations than the JP worlds. SE trying to add new worlds at that time would have led to complaints about how SE was wasting money on creating more dead worlds instead of fixing the dead worlds. But we've now had 2 periods of explosive growth in the NA populations since, forcing SE to finally add new worlds because NA is well past maximum capacity.

The big problem with the ward system is SE apparently is stuck mirroring the number of wards on every world instead of increasing wards dynamically on a per world basis in response to population increases. To meet NA unmet house demand without increasing the number of NA worlds, you'd end up with some empty wards on EU worlds and many empty wards on JP worlds. I doubt the beancounters at SE would be pleased with the money going to waste for those empty wards. So NA, and to a lesser extent EU, end up suffering because JP demand is met so SE sees no need to spend additional money to give their international players a better housing experience.

I think SE should go and put everyone on the same table new as old... 1 house 1 FC ONLY per account and per DC.

It may be unpopular for some few people that house these fora more than the actual game, but it would be fair for all to have the same rigths, compensation of course in its place.

For compensation the only compensation I will accept are the following.
No gil cap for me and unlimited amount of gil
Free subsciption for life as well as max retainers
Free mogstation store items for life
Any plot of my choosing and cannot lose it for life
As well free square enix store items

As someone who wants to get a house whether you don't have one or really want to try and move to a new location, how does looking at this sort of competition make you feel?

Also to be fair that plot is one of the most desirable plots in the game I am not surprised in the least to see LB Plot 11/41 to have that many bids on it.
