I think you should take this subject to SE with a ticket but I doubt you will get a answer.

SE a company and friend to no one.

If something going to be a trouble for them they will not reason or argue (it is already covered in their ToS), they will ban to prevent any debate if they notice it.
If something beneficial to them they will promote it (removing gender lock glamours etc..) for additional player.

But it is same in every company tbh.

So my understanding here is, you're upset that you were suspended because of two separate infractions regarding lewdness, meanwhile your character is named after a pornography actress.

I feel like it isn't just randomly getting attacked for housing support here, it may have something to do with how you're presenting yourself.

My friend also pointed out that people were talking about my suspension and that of others because people currently are deliberately reporting others for any and everything they possibly can in an attempt to lessen the amount of participants in upcoming lotteries for housing. So I would suggest everyone be very careful, or SE please look very carefully at why people are being reported in the upcoming weeks, and all the more reason i request that my person suspension be looked into, because seemingly, this is why i was reported, and if it holds, you are allowing players to get away with exactly what they are planning on doing.

3.3 of the EULA was cited as the reason for my ban, which is Profanity or Innappropriate language, neither of which I feel my FC tag or the Slogan they added to the reasoning fall under.

This is my 2nd offense, the first being a similar one. I had a CWLS named "Lewd & Newd" in which someone who clearly was participating and joined reported me and the name, because the ONLY possible way to even see that name is if you join it or are invited. This CWLS had also existed for around 2-3 years prior to me being suspended for my first offence, also for 20 days.

People get reported all the time for hurting someone else's fee fees. That's why I don't bother anymore with people from this game.

I think that there is almost no way that you (the OP) did not name your FC with the exact intent to have the ERP tag, intending the Erotic reference, and any resemblance to anything else was fictional at best. you got caught. period. accept your licks for the future and move on, hopefully learning something in the process.

You chose names in SEVERAL places that allow for misunderstanding: Your FC name, several ranks (eg "Twink") and your own character which all have sexual connotations.

Not to mention several of your FC members have names of porn stars. It's obvious you were running a brothel or at the very least having a laugh over using pornstar names, let's not be coy.

Your tag is public. It offended enough people to get them to report you. Square took it a step further and probably checked out the entire FC at that point and saw everything else you're hiding away.

Why would you get a warning? If it was "just an accident", you wouldn't have every bit of your FC containing some sort of pornographic/erotic/sexual reference. You were clearly very aware of what you were doing. So no, punishment seems fair to me.

Take the 20 days to come up with a new concept for your FC. Just realize, one more strike and you'll prob lose your account. Play by the rules, this isn't your house.

That is exactly my point, it states erotic roleplay right there in the EULA and says if it is conducted in a private area that it will NOT be considered a violation(sanctioned) UNLESS. UNLESS is the keyword and the issue. There is innately a problem with the system when it operates in a grey area and does not treat the same violations the same each time and allows for a single person to dictate what happens to another and punishes minor offenses with the same punishments serious ones are handled and there is no uniform code for them.

I was in the middle of changing the ranks and everything when I was suspended anyway. I created my character alongside my ex, modeled to look like her, and instead of using her name, we named it after a shared favorite adult star, that is a nickname i used to call her, because she looked like her. That's not what it says. It says it is reportable anywhere, including private places. It's only not a problem if it isn't reported. Just because you drink beer at 17 years old at your mom's house doesn't make it a sanctioned thing. They are literally saying "don't get caught".

So that sucks. I am not a fan of FFXI players in general but if you have a guild for Elite Roleplayers and yeah it uses a term that's been co-opted by people who do bad things then yeah that sucks. I remember when I was 1st grade and showing people my boo boo on my finger and everyone got upset and then when I showed my teacher my boo boo she got offended and had me taken out of class. I was confused and my parents were upset because I stuck my middle finger up at everyone including the teacher.

I told them I did not know showing people my middle finger was like using a bad word. They told me, "you should know!" I told them, "but you never taught up me that is a bad word" and they didn't care.

Some things sadly OP 'you should know' and that's how society sees it.

How do suspensions work exactly? As far as I know people aren't automatically suspended just because they received a report. Like if your Tag was just "XYZ" and someone reported you out of spite saying your tag was inappropriate, I can't imagine that would happen, but I don't have any experience with this as i don't think I have reported anyone or been reported so IDK.

That being said, what was your FC slogan? Genuinely curious as it was part of why you were suspended but I don't think you mentioned what it was. Merely having a "ERP" tag seems inocuous enough since at worst you would be implying that your FC is for ERP, but that alone wouldn't mean you are trying to ERP with unconsenting people, though I could see it going either way and maybe they are harsher with you because you already had 1 strike before this.

Oh, FF14 has a detailed FAQ about penalties https://support.na.square-enix.com/f...he%20violation It looks like they will give warnings, etc. for minor things and penalties are based on penalty points. So maybe you have gotten multiple reports about this and it hit the threshold that you got suspended. Or maybe a more minor violation led to a suspension because they penalize repeat offenders more harshly and you already had a strike.

All in all, I get that it is frustrating to be punished for something, especially after you were not punished for it for a few years, but not being punished for a while doesn't mean you never will be. You don't have to walk on eggshells to avoid a 3rd strike, just don't say lewd things (directly or in a tongue-in-cheek way like "ERP"). I mean you knew what you were doing lol.

This whole thing reminds me of when I tried to get a nickname on my Senior shirt back in HS, got called out by the vice principal for it being a beer reference and trying to defend it with some BS excuse that I actually did research to have ready. He listened to my defense and replied (correctly) that it "it's still a beer reference" and that was that lol.

@Cooker: It's all pretty simple and your beer story from high school is about the gist of it.

If people report you for whatever reason it is reviewed by living breathing people who look at what is presented. If you did nothing wrong, nothing happens.

If you did, you typically just get the GMs to talk to you about the problem and your punishment. They can't tell you who reported, and will very generally direct you towards the section of the EULA/ToS you broke. Sometimes they are very vague, but if you get a ban you very much did something dumb or wrong. Were it something innocent, OP would have gotten a warning and a request to change names or some such. This is a second ban...so I hesitate to accept the "BS excuse" we're getting.

All it says is that SE won’t take action against “mildly sexual expressions used between a consenting group of two or more players, if it is conducted in a private area” if such expressions are not reported. In other words, they will take action if it is reported (it is at your own risk and the TOS are clear) and/or if they are not just “mild” sexual expressions.

Concerning those “mild sexual expressions” the TOS also indicate that

the Slogan has nothing to do with the suspension, it is reviewed along with why the actual report was filed and tacked on after the fact. which is exactly why i said the system is flawed and why i should have been notified of that during the offense if it was seen as profanity etc back then, the GM could clearly see my FC tag along with my name and see that it was ERP and look at my FC when he was looking at the CWLS etc. I also clearly posted what the FC slogan was while changing the spelling purposely to avoid conflict, so you arent making any shocking revelations here.

Your friend(s) can report you and say "I had no intention for this kind of RP" which conflicts with "In general, all expressions of an obscene/indecent nature are prohibited. If a report has been filed and the prohibited activity is confirmed, a penalty will be issued."

No, it doesn’t say that. All it says is that SE won’t take action against “mildly sexual expressions used between a consenting group of two or more players, if it is conducted in a private area” if such expressions are not reported. In other words, they will take action if it is reported (it is at your own risk and the TOS are clear) and/or if they are not just “mild” sexual expressions.

Concerning those “mild sexual expressions” the TOS also indicate that . The tolerance comes at multiple conditions which I listed above.

The TOS also say

Really, how hard is it to understand? The game is rated PG-13 and SE has a responsibility of keeping it so.

I'm old enough to remember when calling a person a twink in video games was basically an insult because its calling someone "gay" and a twink considered the bottom of the community. Basically, it was calling cheaters and those who paid for boosts 'gay' as an insult. But being that Europeans and some other gamers were clueless about this insult they started to equate Twink not as an insult or slur, but rather as just a booster or cheater forgetting the original reason why someone was called a Twink. I remember when a gaming company who used to make cheats for the Codebreaker renamed their company Codetwink and went out of buisness because the owner didn't know at that time what the majority of people considered the term twink.

The problem is ERP as a term is what I would consider new. Most normal people or a lot of gamers might not understand what it is. The reason why staff and people on the forums on FFXIV know what it is, is because people in FFXIV are flagrant with it and popularized it. In the forums a year or two ago when staff started banning and suspending people there were posters here condemning staff for not accept people and guilds who ERPG for Gil.

Back in the days when World of Warcraft was popular before CATA ruined it someone who was offering special services in the tram was called a hooker or prostitute.

Also the grand majority of people in the NA in fact 99.9% of us don't know what the word Bollocks is and will never care to. All we know is when we see weird people saying Bollocks this and Bollocks that they are foreigners. Which is why I recommend separating forums due to the fact there is cultural and regional differences and there are slangs that never of us understand. Most likely the word Twink was taken from Europeans who didn't know it was used as a gay slur to insult cheaters and they just took it as just a regular insult not understanding the meaning of cheaters.

as far as i know it is the name of one of her favorite songs iirc.
and again, she has not played since i the year i inherited the FC. the inactive days on her name in the FC list is stuck at 1604 because its been way longer than that.

I dont have any alts btw. Those are all friends, alts of friends, or friends of friends, most of which i know IRL as i have said many times now. SO i think i would know if there were other people using adult actress names.

yeah, as i said, i was in the process of changing everything right as i got pulled into GM jail because i had just added a couple new members and the rest of us who still do play were talking about actually inviting more people to play with and trying to make our own static for Ultimate instead of joining ones separately. Boosted Twink rank was made because a lot of my friends played wow and PVP'd a lot and "twinking" is the term commonly used for alts that get certain gear sets stay at a certain level to "farm" newer players and boost their rank up quickly.

but it originates from Roleplaying and Tabletop RP games anyway, which is why i used it as a rank. Everything is based off of actual roleplaying elements because we all did GTA RP or some other form or fashion of RP in the past and always goof off when we play FFXIV and roleplay along with the game as we are the WoL as some of them have toruble keeping interest with the MSQ etc so we try to make it more engaging and fun by going through it together and acting out the scenes with our own voices in discord lol

Ghostwk, why are you fighting with everyone about this still? You made a post about how you thought your suspension and the process was wrong/unfair, people disagreed with you and told you what rules you violated. You can try making the same arguments to the GMs or whoever handles the appeals, but we aren't those people, we are just fellow players telling you why we think this happened to you as you do not believe you crossed any lines. You wanted to share your opinions here and you did so, people responded with their opinions, which are generally more in line with what the GMs said is their position.

I'm sure it sucks to be suspended, but the suspension will end and you'll get to play again. Just be a little more cautious/tamer with your public facing conduct in the game and you'll be fine.

oh dont worry, i will have absolutely no personality and delete every single thing from my profile, my adventure plate, and the FC after this suspension is over or if it is overturned. i am not willing to risk my character anymore for expression when the grey area and the EULA is so messed up that it will favor any and everyone who even feels slightly offended or wronged and will favor them, especially when i have 2 offenses now.

I am not really fighting with anyone, but people are starting to try and witchhunt and derail so i am defending my friends as well as clarifying the wrong information they are trying to force to be truth. They are bringing up IRL friends and such that have nothing to do with this.
