Why do FCs get 75% of the wards?

Unless you are insanely lucky, yeah probably. Anyone who wants to have a house right now is pretty much locked in at this point. If anyone were to win a plot, with the chances they will be, I wouldn't recommend ever letting your sub run out for too long. You would have to be super lucky to win a plot twice.

My small plot was just a placeholder, but I never saved enough money to go for bigger, and I thought I had time to one day go house hunting. I guess not.. I will still on occasion probably try to get one, but I am not holding my breath.

I'm not really looking forward to the number of entries per house but with only 6 wards for personals on established servers it will be interesting and informative to see just how many people want a particular house. I feel sorry for those trying for personals right now. I have a friend who wants a personal and her chances on Balmung are pretty remote right now.

Individuals bought up most of the plots, which is why there’s more of them then FC houses. This new system will prevent that. As well as take some strain off the housing crisis since multiple people can share and live in a FC house.

Can you please stop spreading misinformation? We don't have any info on Island Sanctuary, they never said it comes with a private house... on the contrary, they said to lower expectations concerning Island Sanctuary.

Not really. Some of those FC plots are just solo players. No idea how many, only SE really knows, but no it won't prevent that. It hasn't yet and it never will with how things are currently designed. There is nothing stopping a solo player from making an FC, loading it up with alts from somewhere and getting a house that way. This does NOT prevent any of the issues housing has had since the beginning other than maybe harming flippers. Hurting flippers is a good thing, but even they were a small issue when it comes to the big picture. Basically anything people claim that this new system will fix, it really won't. It will make things worse in ways.

Have they given any details for those of us in private homes they will now be in wards designated as FC-only? I can’t imagine I’m logging in tomorrow to be forcefully ejected from my plot?

Not that I'm aware of. They've grandfathered every plot into the mix so far, so normally I'd say that it is a safe bet that they will do the same thing now. But it's hard to say. I honestly don't know anymore.

No you won't be removed from the ward or your house. This only applies to new housing purchases. Your ward however if it's in wards 1-18 will only allow a FC purchase if someone transfers or electively demolishes their house given auto demolition is off at the moment.

Can you link the full interview? Because if I remember correctly, this quote was heavily taken out of context. In one interview, Yoshi-P said that the islands will be different from Housing, and that quote really seems like the first sentence referred to Housing and the rest was to tell that Island Sanctuary will be different.

Not quite there yet, but he is certainly fast tracking his trajectory at the moment.

It just feels like they've entirely forgotten how bad things used to be in the past... even if you are a hardcore promoter of 'individual players shouldn't have housing and don't deserve to enjoy the content if they're not leading an FC'... this isn't going to help your issue at all, this isn't going to promote community this is going to promote the exact opposite. I already know 2 friends who will be leaving their respective FCs if they can't get a personal house in order to make 1 man FCs so they can later on bid on houses in the FC wards.

This will also once again up the popularity of RMT FC-House sellers who will charge real money in order to pass ownership of a house over (something which personal plots entirely make impossible by the way) and on most servers save for the obscenely overpopulated you're going to now see empty wards with tons of empty plots that are unusable because you need to be in an FC to get them while the 19-24 wards will be at capacity.

Also saying "Oh just wait to 6.2 and they will reevaluate it" is very mean spirited to say to a LOT of people who have been playing this game for years, hoping and waiting for a more fair system so they can enjoy an aspect of the game they've only been getting a taster for but locked out of due to limited housing (apartments which imo are far faaar too limiting compared to how much you can decorate in houses).

Just let those of us who have apartments add greenhouses, balconies, another floor or two and courtyards to them. Problem solved.

I mean, context is everything. So I went and looked for the context which is apparently this, and as I thought, he used that sentence to separate what general Housing does from Island Sanctuary being different.

I simply dislike getting hopes up, and I dislike it even more when the devs are later accused of having lied, when they never did and something was just taken out of context.

I'd be down for Island Sanctuary coming with a house, but... eh, doubt.

You're taking his words as gospel.

It will not be everything you'd ever hoped it'd be. They'll have cut stuff from it to make deadlines, and it'll have less features than they wanted because the resource strain was too much.

It's not going to be an alternative to housing.

I don't even want the garden. I have two gardens I tend now. I want the HOUSE. Apartments are too friggin small.

You do realize that doesn't imply the system will be the same as current housing right?

For all you know, the house could be static, and the 'emphasis on the house, garden and furniture' could mean the house is static and you build it up/decorate it with pre-set upgrades, furniture and changes from a limited pool that are unlocked by doing tasks in the island sanctuary.

There's a reason Yoshi-P said to temper expectations about island sanctuary - believing its effectively instanced housing is setting yourself up for a huge disappointment if that was never its intention to be. Not to mention the sole fact they could literally induce massive hype and positivity in the community by announcing 'HEY GUYS THIS IS INSTANCED HOUSING NOW EVERYONE GETS A HOUSE' but choose to remain extremely silent should be a very large red flag the 'house' on island sanctuary will be nothing like the current system.

All I gotta say, is that had I known they were gonna do this, I'd have botted a placard. Better chance doing that than I do with this lottery, I'll tell ya.

Phoenix has over 110k people on it, and they think 300 houses is going to fix anything?

I think we are finally at the boiling point I had hoped we could avoid for years yet. They need to show us that they can do their jobs properly or players will start walking away. Endwalker is the new Cataclysm it seems.

Fc housing is a system easily abused. Its not always the case but yeah i bet now with 3/4 of the housing being fc only it will be abused even more so.

Not enough players are going to walk away over this to matter much. The vocal minority on the forums will still keep subscribing long after they cry, "I'm leaving". It's like this for every game.

Not now, but it doesn't bode well for the future. Not many left in WoW's Cataclysm either, but it was the start of the game's steady decline.

Can bet your butts that if you weren't able to get a personal house if you were in a FC with one, FC membership would drop like a rock.

Most of the people I played with outright quit last raid tier and aren't impressed with the current one enough to start playing again.

Population is dropping. A lot. it's got classic buffering it's numbers, but the population is still shrinking.

Also personal preferences. Some might prefer certain wards to the ward their FC house is in.

Housing is, after all, catering to your own tastes.

The list of FCs with 512 active(ish) players all owning rooms would be insanely small throughout the entire game. You used the most extreme example I have ever seen. The VAST MAJORITY of FCs are no where near that size.
