And so is hair. Thank you.

I have said this numerous times on other forums, Miqo'te do not have a significance in the FF franchise so there's no comparison to Viera who have 10+ years of lore as well as numerous game appearances. People argue that Miqo'te are essentially the Mithra from XI but there's obviously no definitive confirmation that they're linked other than the fact they're cat people. So no - Miqo'te only existed in XIV thus aren't *that* lore-developed that people care if it changes.
Male Viera, understandably were previously never seen in the Ivalician era but it makes sense considering Endwalker has a dire storyline, it makes sense that the male Viera come out of hiding to lend their aid.
So your argument is that lore from other games is more important than lore in this game, while we're taking about this game? Okay then.
Male Viera aren't coming out of the woodwork"just now", they are retroactively being added to exist – at least by the player's presence – in the game since ARR. Unless they bring that up within the game to explain why we're seeing them for the first time, it's not a reason to say that Endwalker justifies their presence.
For all we know, they could just be extremely rare (and still will be extremely rare if we only meet one or two as NPCs) or maybe the few that do leave the woods are mistaken for women anyway.
I see your point of view definitely, but I don't think characters are just "brought in" as if they've always been there since the start, hence why in the Ivalician raid series when we meet Fran in Garamsythe waterway she speaks to us as if we're not even the same race - also Montblanc gives us a whole dialogue on what the Viera are and their way of life despite me standing there with my viera sandles and rabbit ears; it's a tad discombobulating.
I'm going to nitpick this since I keep seeing everyone justify (which doesn't NEED justification) male viera being playable with this. This isn't a reason nor will it ever be. Since you can start as the race in 2.0 content the world going to hell in Endwalker is irrelevant.
Back to the topic, I'm okay with them adding more racial hairs to any race and viera could definitely use some more and i hope that can happen during the 6.X cycle since the devs seem to have figured out how to better design viera models.
Normally I'd agree but there are literally more than 50 hairstyles that Viera do not currently have access to at all. Unless SE is planning to fully bridge that gap, I'm thinking they can squeeze a few more race specific styles in there.
Especially considering their current selection is literally seven "unique" styles with slight variations on all of them.
Edit to rephrase a little - my Miqo that I haven't touched since Stormblood has 56 hairstyles at the aesthetician, 5 of which are unlocks... so if I'm looking at the list right, there are 15 unlocks I don't have, not counting any cash shop hairs. So roughly in the range of 60-70 options for other races, at a guess, vs Viera's 17 (and Hrothgar's what... two? lmao??). I mean I wanna hope they're gonna eventually bring Viera and Hrothgar both at least up to the range of options of the other races, but it's taken them two years to figure out how to add even a handful. I will be very pleasantly surprised if we get more than that.
All that to say, yeah, I don't mind them maybe getting some more race unique ones if it means they get even close to the same amount of customization options the older races have.
Again, Viera are getting the hairs people actually go unlock and actively use rather than the 20-30 filler hairs everyone routinely ignores. It's not hard to see why they went this route.
wish i could get those hairstyles as an au ra
seriously though, i find it incredibly insulting that they haven't made it so hrothgar don't need to pay for a fantasia to change hairstyle
Yeah the math got a little wonky because I was looking at totals (so yeah including the racial hairs), but looking at it from what I can tell there are 20 in-game unlockable hairstyles, vs. what looks like around 15ish that are "shared" from a quick look at the Miqo character create screen? Plus the handful of cash shop hairs. So probably closer to 30-40 really. All rough math, I'm feeling lazy, but the point is there haha
I mean, putting aside that I actually like and often use a lot of those "filler" hairs, my point is the sheer volume of options. Yeah it's totally easy to see why they're doing it the way they're doing it, but it still leaves Viera (and Hroth) kinda out in the cold in terms of just... general customizability vs. every other race.
I mean I've been unhappy with this since Viera were added at all, and while I'm happy that they are in fact doing something about it, I'm still gonna be a little unhappy about the fairly sizable gap in options. I mean there was already a bit of a gap in options in existing races (like, number of styles and number of faces on some of them, already) but. Yeah.
All I'm saying is two more race unique hairstyles wouldn't exactly be a problem for me, personally. I'm also not opposed to them just being added for everyone, I just also don't agree with the idea that Viera shouldn't get anything else that's unique considering they spent so long with literally nothing BUT unique styles (10 of which are actually just variations of other styles to begin with).
Read the part I bolded in the section I quoted from you again. How else do you want people to take that? Please lol.
This argument makes no sense. They're already different due to having animal traits vs regular Hyur ears.
Viera don't have Hyur ears at all. Miqo'te don't have Hyur ears at all. Elezen have pointed ears. Hrothgar have animal faces. Each race is already unique from one another as is, why are hairstyles the only thing you think makes them unique? And why do you think the unique properties of each race would suddenly up and disappear if everyone had access to any style of hair?
Literally, I do not see the logic in that other than you having some warped idea of what constitutes uniqueness.
They prioritized male viera because that would bring them up to standard with other races. Having both gender options, like every other race. That is also why they promised Hrothgals are coming.
They also worked on unlocking some hairstyles and fitting them to female Viera heads, while at the same time fixing male Viera to make the original issue easier. Meaning that they'll very likely attempt to apply the 'fix' from male Viera to female Viera as soon as possible, if they aren't already trying.
They are already giving people what they were owed. There's also the consideration that much of this took more time than normal due to the fact we had a worldwide pandemic hit in the middle of Shadowbringers.
Also no, most races would look fine with Viera hairstyles actually. Just because you don't think so doesn't mean they wouldn't. That said, I wasn't saying our current racial styles should be unlocked for everyone - only that continuing to ask for exclusive Viera-only hairstyles when they're clearly already trying to unlock all-race hairstyles for them as is, is a little entitled. No one has ever requested exclusive Roegadyn or Highlander or Au Ra hairstyles since their release - why is Viera different?
Frankly I'd prefer they work on giving Viera men and women their own unique Hempen set design. Though working on unlocking all Hempen set designs would be just as well - the Highlander and Au Ra sets would work nicely.
And I'll be honest - you have made thread after thread since you showed up on the forums, requesting exclusives for Viera and arguing/insulting anyone who disagreed that only Viera deserved these requests, or only Viera should get exclusives. You have consistently come off as incredibly entitled in each and every thread I've seen crop up from you over the past few months, so forgive me if I feel like this whole argument of yours is coming off the same way.
Sorry but if you're going to take what I said that way, that's your business. Not much else I can say to that.
Well, now that just looks a bit personal. I find it really cheeky that you willingly went out of your way just to check up on my previous thread posts in an attempt to belittle me in this one. My requests have never been inconsiderate or unreasonable. Self-entitled people who feel like they should have access to everything that's race exclusive, that's entitled. I have stated numerous times in all my threads how much of a Viera fan I am and why I think my idea's should be implemented - it's not my fault people take offence to the idea of more race-exclusive options. If people came up with idea's about an exclusive Au'Ra piece; I'd be for the idea and I wouldn't throw my toys out of the pram and pout how I deserve things too. This child-like mentality of "I want a PS4 tooooooo" is quite interesting to see on the forums; it's very common here.
Despite me saying I'm pro-gender and race lock, people still attempt to argue with me and turn it into an unnecessary debate about how Final Fantasy should be a perfect "everyones the same" kind of the world and just because I argue my point, that makes me a bad person? I never (as far as I can remember) outright insulted anyone for disagreeing with my point, albiet I can come across blunt but that's just me. I argued my opinion and I religiously state my reasons for my ideas and if people are sensitive and can't counteract any of my statements with a genuine, valid reason why my request is unreasonable then that's not my problem.
Everyone having access to cool things does not equal = everyone is the same.
The player's character has been in Eorzea from the beginning of 2.0 so if they start as a male Viera then that is the point where a male Viera is first shown venturing out, and there's no reason to assume there aren't more.
And if we meet a new NPC in Endwalker who is a male Viera, that doesn't have to be someone who's newly left the woods either because we're going to places we haven't visited before. We could meet one who has been studying in Sharlayan for years, or living in Thavnair, or captured by the Garleans and brought to their capital.
There is no need to assume that the only reason they would ever leave the forest is due to the incoming events of Endwalker.
As for NPCs not recognising your race, that's a running issue since 2.0 and with 2.0-original races. Buscarron will tell you about Duskwights as if they're a foreign concept even if your character is one, and from memory the class quests that deal with some kind of racist attitude from an NPC also fail to take yours into account.
I didn't "check up" on anything. I'm on these forums most days, even if for short bursts of time. I tend to remember frequent posters, and threads they have made. This is true for a lot of forum users.
Not sure why the first thing you and others like you jump on is the assumption someone's gone through the trouble to read through every single post you've ever made on these forums, and not just that they recall your name and the subject matter you've posted, but sure. It's a way to deflect, I know.
You are not that important to people, sorry to burst your bubble lol.
They have been inconsiderate and unreasonable. You genuinely only ever ask for Viera-exclusive clothing, hair, whatever - and when people tell you hey, that's a bit selfish towards all other races who haven't gotten anything exclusive to them and their culture, you resort to insulting them or arguing with them in circles, ignoring any thought-out reasoning or discussion on the matter, because only your thoughts matter and in your head, only Viera matter.
You're insulting people right now, in fact! By calling them entitled and childish, sensitive and offended - for explaining to you that requesting one race receiving more things over all other races is incredibly selfish.
Because this game is not a KR MMO with gender locks for clothing styles and classes, nor race locks for clothing styles and classes. Hells, this is why KR MMOs are falling out of favor with many people lately; god knows I quit TERA because I was sick and tired of only Elin ever getting anything special, or only female characters getting nice outfits or classes.
People want more options, not less; no one wants to be limited to only playing 3 out of 10 classes just because they picked a race that can't be the others. No one wants to play a race that never has access to unlockable hairstyles that all other races have. No one wants to see only one race get favored with special racial-locked items, classes, hairstyles, whatever - while the others get left out in the cold. No one wants to be unable to express themselves (or their character, if they RP/want to build a separate persona to themselves) with any clothing they like, regardless of whether it's masculine or feminine.
And for some reason, most race/gender lock supporters think people wanting these options is selfish and unreasonable. So while I wouldn't consider them a bad person, per say, I would consider them pretty unlikeable. Especially depending on how they actually express their anti-race/gender unlock support.
Sorry, but hairstyles and clothing are not the only things that make a race unique. Lore, animations, manner of speech, physical traits - those are what separate races from one another in a far more broad and encompassing manner.
Hair is hair; someone can easily grow their hair out to Viera-length and style it the way they do. Clothing will fit on anyone with the proper body shape for it, or otherwise variations can be made to adjust for proportions and size.
Coming at people constantly wanting exclusive, one-race items that no other race has - and not even offering alternative options for other race exclusive items so that everyone got something new and no one race was favored over the other - is indeed something most consider pretty selfish.
Your attitude towards anyone who disagrees with you doesn't ever help matters.
That said, I'm not interested in arguing circles with you when you clearly aren't going to bother considering anyone else's opinions, thoughts, or reasoning - so have fun. I'll be looking forward to Viera getting access to styles everyone else has available, come Endwalker. And also enjoying my male Viera.
