Unpopular (probably) opinion about the Nier raids...

The best thing about the crossover were the 2b pants and the music. I didn't mind the raids, i thought they were ok. But the story was so boring that I permanently had to fight the urge to skip all cutscenes which involved the dwarfs. My biggest issue was that it didn't really add anything to the world on bigger scale unlike the previous raids.

It’s probably due to the timing that Nier feels so hard. All the raids are about this hard when they are current, obviously getting easier as they age. The devs also tend to add auto-echo to older content.

On this post- I agree. I didn’t mind the actual mechanical parts of the nier raid series, but the actual story and integration into ffxiv lore was just awful for me. Fortunately I think the devs are aware of the general distaste and are making very lore centric raids this next expac.

Ivalice raids introduced a lot of new and cool mechanics like floor clocks, math, spinning cleaves, Side Unseen and the clashing Demi-Virgo, all of which were brought back again for bosses in ShB.

The only new mechanics Nier raids had were on the 1st boss of the Puppet's Bunker, and even those are a stretch since they are only a slight variation of delayed safe zones.

Nier raids were a lazy attempt at trying to drive some attention to a niche game before making the decision to moving it to phone gaming with the other dead franchises, where it would most likely find a place in the robot waifu gacha market.

I enjoyed the Nier raids for what they were but they really showed how much covid impacted the quality of content in the end. Copied Factory I enjoyed as there was some interesting mechanics in there and the final boss music is my jam! Puppets Bunker was the best of the 3 (wiping Alliance group C using the line AoEs was always funny until you were group C). Paradigm Breach was the weakest with boring repeated mechanics, boring hacking mini mechanic, so much waiting around for the next area to unlock, bland environments. Also the gear you got from them was uninspired rehashed black leather outfits across all 3. Instant glamour over.

I dont remember any of the story or care about it. It felt out of place and the ending ultimately was nothing. Then theres the repeatable quest once you've done the raid. I saw that and thought NOPE.

The raid had potential but Tower at PB killed it.

In the age of Covid disruptions I find it particularly frustrating how much content time was dedicated to this crossover. Not just a whole alliance raid, but one that goes beyond the scope of any of the past raids: exploration of the zones, two interlude chapters and the dragging tail of weekly quests. Not that I thought that part was a good structure and certainly not for the disappointing epilogue at the end of it, but still. It was more work and more cutscenes and another plot thread that went nowhere unless you bring in a completely different game to be part of FFXIV's canon.

You're reminding me of just how good the Void Ark Alliance Raids were. I may not have necessarily cared about the Sky Pirates during the series, but it was fantastic for exploring the culture of Mhach and how the survivors tried to wait out the Sixth Umbral Calamity. The Sixth Umbral Calamity also played a huuuuge role in shaping the current Eorzea, such as Nyunkrepf Nyunkrepfsyn and the rest of the Twelve Archons who created the Ark that can be found in The Fringes, and with it saved many lives during the floods before eventually going on to found Sharlayan. Or the Star of Rhalgr which led the people Ala Mhigo to safety in the highlands which is why they worship him as their deity. Getting a chance to explore that part of Eorzean history was genuinely interesting to me as someone that loves the lore of FFXIV.

Did Eulmore notice the giant freaking mountain exploding? Guess not. Did the Tholls have anything to say about the Goggs getting carpet bombed? Nah, they straight up never appear, not even to gloat over all the dead Goggs (all three of them). The events that happen in the Alliance Raids are incredibly disconnected from the world at large and it makes it feel like the story doesn't matter. They could move the Nier Raids to some Lalafell village on the Source and nothing would change because everything that happens is localized in such a tiny area with no influence elsewhere.

Another thing that made the story suck for me is that it involved the dwarves. We're talking about a Beast Tribe that all wear the exact same clothes making them damn near impossible to tell apart. Sure, Anogg and Konogg wear unique outfits, but I still can't tell you which is which. One of them was more cautious, one of them was more adventurous, but was it Anogg or Konogg? No idea. Honestly, the most memorable dwarf in the entire storyline was the Dig Site Chief because he had a unique lali-ho to greet us with every time something dumb happened. The story is also fairly light with the Nier characters. 2P shows up, talks for a bit, we beat the tar outta 9S at the end of Factory, 2P betrays us, 2B saves us and tells us to piss off in Bunker, we briefly speak with her afterwards, and then it's off to the Tower with 2B and 9S. Oh, and 2B thanks us and says she'll always remember the time she spent with us, that her memories of us are soooo precious. I'm sorry, what time exactly? We don't see her in Factory, we barely interact with her in Bunker because she flies off at the start to murder 2P, and then it's a brief jaunt with her in Tower. As for 9S, we beat his ass into a coma during Factory and next thing we know he's out there saying thanks for the memories after Tower? I can't take that seriously when he was passed out on a bed from the end of Factory all the way to the start of Tower.

Now, I've played Drakengard, and Nier, and Nier: Automata. I know the story of those games, the lore to the series. There's a ton of references in these Raids, particularly in Tower, but none of that shit is gonna matter at all to a person completely new to the Nier series. I enjoyed speculating about the falling ash in Factory and wondering if it was maso and that we might see some sweet White Chlorination Syndrome, and it was neat seeing Hansel and Gretel in Tower. But at the end of the day, it's just references, and people aren't going to understand them without context. I believe Yoshi-P said it wouldn't be necessary to play the Nier games to enjoy the Alliance Raids, but I find that hard to believe because I have played those games a lot and I still thought the Alliance Raids were garbage.

Anyways, that's my rant on the Nier Raids. I personally thought they sucked and were an absolute waste of dev resources. Thanks for the 2B glamour I guess, now I can give my character a dumptruck with those 2B Leggings.

dont like the nier raids. never played any nier game so they are less interesting in terms of easter eggs right from the beginning.
the story is boring and flat. dont like rhe second raid, dont really know why. and i think the third one is too easy. (especially when i think back to dun scaith and orbonne).
and the end of the story was kinda disappointing. ans whats with the weekly quest? i know rhey had to overcome the six weeks between the patches somehow to patch in the end.... but the six weeks for new players are just annoying.

but i think the first raid is a pretty good first raid and the music is amazing.

I'll echo what a bunch have said here already. The story was pointless and from the start it was a very poor fit with the XIV universe. I've played through the Nier games myself, love the first game, Automata was a disappointment for me, don't really care if robots have emotions and asses. It already annoys me how much attention it gets over the first game, but at least now more people have had a chance to play the first due to the remaster.

In terms of the raids themselves I think Puppet's Bunker is the best one but I really don't care for the other two. At first especially it was hard for me to see stuff in the factory with how everything is the rust gray color, it's just not interesting to look at either. Same goes for the Tower, I hate the aesthetic, the dull white blocks, they should have had some unique location for the last raid and not just pulled out a dungeon from Automata that made no sense. And they just crammed a bunch of "hey, I know that boss" in there for... reasons? It just felt cheap, like they just threw something together quick to finish it all off. Like a bunch have said here too, the bosses just feel like such hp sponges in like all of the raids.

Some of the glams were good from the crossover but otherwise it was completely worthless and I'd have preferred almost anything else. Can't wait for a proper unique raid series in Endwalker.

The Nier raids had good fights(for a 24 man), and outside of their references from Drakengard/Nier they did tie into FFXIV in a very singular way. Bear in mind, this is just my opinion.


If you look at the raids and how they tie into XIV, it's only through the Dwarf twins and the WoL. The Dwarf twins plot is what's involved in the cutscenes, and it's an appeal to pathos with a "seemingly" important choice that locks you out of the other road. Never saw anyone speak about any real difference by the end, though, and this is the first time I didn't keep up on my alternate character to try to spot differences myself.

If we look at the Nier storylines with what literally goes on, it's that a Seed of Resurrection/Destruction somehow smashed on through the flimsy dimensional pudding that our FFXIV planet has been reduced to, thanks to Hydaelyn's Sundering. It comes from a world where it absorbed the machine network from Nier's extraterrestrials which had a galaxy spanning civilization. This caused it to reproduce machine lifeforms as well as the Androids 9S and 2B who had implanted their own data into that network so they could follow it anywhere and stop it/fight it(cause they're programmed to). The Dwarf twins encountered the Seed which reproduced the one in white, who goes on to learn emotions/care for the one in black, and self sacrifices to seal the Seed back on the other side of the dimensional gap(2B and 9S follow via data streaming). Dwarf in black is devastated and devotes himself to finding a way to get the simulacra of his sister back/get to her etc.

If we look at it in a more metaphorical sense/symbolism/etc. with regards to FFXIV and what it's built up about the WoL, then we can kind of see that it's a metanarrative on things that have happened in FFXIV and things that might happen in FFXIV.

WoL first encounters the dwarves in White and Black. The White issues a command thinly veiled as a request that even pokes fun about how we have no choice but to accept. This "request" is to help them with tinkering in the strange ruins their tribe has found.

In the periphery of those ruins we find a girl all in white being assaulted by machines. Upon saving her, she commands us to help her stop the machines by proceeding to the heart of the ruins.

At the heart we find a boy in black who has been controlling the machines, and he fights us in a tank/jet mech combo. Afterwards he assaults the girl in white with his sword. He loses the duel knocked over the edge into mist. The girl in white is hurt, but our duty is done so we return to the periphery caves. There she collapses, and tells us that the boy and her are both androids/machines made to imitate people. She tells us she is damage and will not function much longer, but knows what we need to do. Find a key in the ruins to stop the androids, as there are more like the boy in black and they will be aggressive.

Then you choose whether you want to proceed boldy with the white Dwarf or proceed cautiously with black Dwarf. It leads to the same thing. Fixing the girl in white, and promptly being double-crossed by her and her team of androids. They show up in black, but quickly reveal their garments to actually be black. They bomb the dwarf village, and the girl in white moves to kill the dwarf in white. She is stopped by a girl in black, 2B from Nier Automata. 2B says she's there to destroy the androids in white, and then prompts you to join her in stealing into their base to do just that.

The WoL is waylaid by war machine after war machine, with 2B having gotten far ahead due to having a flight machine. By the time you catch up, she has already slain the girl in white, who then somehow manifests myriad mannequin androids which throw themselves together forming a giant orb. You fight it, and upon its defeat it stuns your alliance and reforms into a giant version of the girl in white, looking quite grotesque. Upon defeating that, it seemingly dissipates into aether.

You go back with the dwarves and 2B, find 9S and the dwarves fix him. Then starts the quests of finding the Seed of Destruction which induces an Echo vision about the Dwarf twins and how the one in white is actually a machine replica of the twin who died sometime before the events of the story.

Upon further investigation of the Seed, this time with the Dwarf village elder(neutral brown), it spawns a ton of girls in white and a tower stretching into the sky. Dwarves and 2B/9S show up to stop them, and the Dwarf in white orders the WoL to destroy the tower.

The WoL complies, leading to the disappearance of the tower and the sealing of the machines on the other side.

Now, I recount all of that because to me it seems like the White/Black dichotomy seems to represent the two dwarves as the Hydaelyn/Zodiark factions/primals. The white/black androids represent how we've interacted with those factions throughout the course of the story. It's not a 1:1 to thing, obviously, because we've spent 5 story arks fighting the Ascians, which in this comparison are represented by 2B/9S, particularly under the assumption that they're innately hostile/evil. And in this side raid arc, that's literally just the Copied Factory. Which of course means that the truth of Hydaelyn is merely the interplayed portion where girl in white(2P) wakes up and bombs the dwarf village(sundering). Becomes a shoddy comparison after that, because we don't have anything in the game directly interacting with Hydaelyn since Heavensward, and there also haven't been a bunch of Hydaelyn servants that we have been setup to fight(and we are one ourselves).

Anyway, the comparison, if it even is in line with what I've written, continues on to assert that the machines are only against us due to the extraterrestrial goddess, Her Inflorescence

What am I getting at with this?

TL; DR - Yoko Taro weaseled into telling us a summarized, butchered version of FFXIV's whole story up to the end of Endwalkers with Nier set pieces. We won't realize it/know it until the end of 6.0, though.

Of course, I'm just talking crazy again because it's another slow night at the hotel I'm working at. Don't think too hard about all this, just eliminate the enemy.

The Nier raids are on the bottom for me. I do have to say that I was already very skeptical when they announced it because I dont like advertisement on that scale. We only get one 24 man raid with each expansion and to lose that to another game (not even a FF game...) was really sad. So I did not go into it completely neutral. But it was even worse than I thought. The Ivalice raid was an information overload because it had to explain so much to make sense. Yet at least it tried to fit into the game. It tried to make sense and now gives some more insight on the past of that place. Nier did none of that.

Most of the stuff was fanservice, the story itself was weak and the lore of the First was not really touched. Thus we might have lost the only chance to ever get more lore from that shard for THAT. IMO dumb twists that did nothing for me (I barely even got to know the first one before she turned on us and we got no real information on the other two until they were gone..), an ending that left me shaking my head and the total waste of these weekly quests..(And I am still left to wonder how nobody ever noticed the factory...)

Either Yoko Taro was annoyed that he did not have that much of a free reign as he hoped he would get, did not want to do it in the first place or his style simply did not match the story structure he was given. Yet if he is such a genius as many say then that should not have stopped him from giving us at least a good story...

The only two good things were the music and the idea behind the data notes. The raids and bosses were either forgetable or annoying.

Why could this not have been some event like Yokai....some fate grinding with glamour from Nier while we would have gotten a original raid on the first...

They were hyped the hell out of before release, and many insisted that the next chapter would redeem the poor storytelling of the one prior after release and that we should just be patient, but no one went away unironically praising how they were situated, as far as I can recall.

I really dislike those raids. I think they look fine (minus tower at paradigm's breach) but they feel dreadful to me... I try to avoid doing them as much as possible! I got what I wanted from them and I hope I don't see them again in endwalker.

I think the story was terribly bad and it didn't add anything to the game. Even in the last raid a character says something like "you don't have to make sense of what's going on, just fight!".
I'd say the best that has come out of it was the music and the 2B glamour.

Why would they take time from rather casual content that most People will likely do to catch up gearing on some jobs/alts, in favour of an ultimate most peopel won't even attempt to try?
Not to mention, at least amongst the peopel I played with at the time, factory and bunker were seen at the very least as 'good enough' for 24 man raids, even if the story was lackluster.

For me it doesn't matter what 24 player raid it is. I don't like any of them. It's not the story or the bosses or any of that, its just whenever I do one past the first time, I'd always rather be doing something else instead. I only ever do them for the upgrade tokens and wouldn't do them at all past the first time if those weren't there.

Though I can say something good about the Nier raid: It convinced me to buy NieR: Automata and I ended up really liking that game.

I think it's a big down after the Ivalice and Mhach raids which were great. I'll be that guy and say I prefer when the difficulty is tuned a bit higher on these types of content, simply becuase it breaks the monotony of doing these raids over and over. Being a healer in Orbonne was quite fun during Thundergod Cid, I love Dun Scaith and Weeping city.
The nier raids suffer in that comparison because they were not as challenging and not as interesting in my opinion.

And outside of gameplay, the story, the setting, the integration in FFXIV, everything felt lackluster or underwhelming, especially after the hype they have created around these raids.
I don't know people that prefer the nier raids over the other 24man raids around me.
Nier and Automata are enjoyable games on their own, this collaboration was unnecessary.

My only gripe is red girl. When the dolls come out and spray orbs I cannot see them properly and end up getting vuln that feels unjustified. Too white and bright. Other then that I feel the neir raids are ok. I love ff tactics but absolutely despise the stormblood alliance raids.

The music was nice but thats about it, easily the worst alliance raid imo

Only the Ivalice raids had any voice acting, and the first two only for the final bosses. And I honestly spend half of the Monastery wishing the bosses would just shut up after a while. Especially Mustadio, since the overdone flanging effect makes it near impossible to understand him anyway.

i like the nier raids, the fights are pretty fun and the music/loot is nice

but i do wish it had been a bit better intergrated to the world of xiv and the story left a few things to be desired (wish it'd had more of drakenier and less of yoko taro's dwarf ocs). at least it didn't put me to sleep like the ivalice story did though lol

Storywise as someone who's never played any Nier games, I thought the characters were ok? There were some interesting twists but you had to be paying attention to even really spot them. But outside of that it just felt weak and once you did stop caring, the details were too subtle to ever claw you back in. The raids themselves were passable but mechanically dull outside of a few specific bosses. Most of the fights just felt too long and repetitive.

By comparison the Ivalice raid's story just bored me to tears initially and took far too long to get going. It did eventually get good but I skipped far too much to get there. However, taken as a whole, I'd say it's my favourite raid. It had a whole heap of noteworthy bosses that were enjoyable, memorable and challenging.

For void ark, the thing that really stands out to me was how well it was built up and integrated into the wider game. If you never started the quest line, you could be forgiven for never even realising the whole Neir thing existed. Yet the Void Ark ship floating around the edge of Sea of Clouds was a point of mystery and intrigue from the moment Heavensward dropped.

Nier raid had a splitted opinion.

Personally, my complain is that mechanics lacks imagination (last raid was mostly in/sides mechanics), second complain is that the raid Nier is in a bubble that is in Norvrandt bubble itself.
That raid had no impact on XIV universe spare a lalafell village and will never be heard of ever again.

Nier raid is by far my least favorite.
Ivalice had different colors, different personalities but also voice acting!

Nier was a Nier story written by Yoko Taro and little XIV element even made its way in the content. 2 lalafell and the WoL.
Remove those and you get a Nier story that has no connection whatsoever to XIV. And the WoL was staring at things happening most of the time.

If you're not a Nier fanboy, or like the asthetic, there is little chance you connect to the raids.
An event with 2B outfit and a minion was enough.

I love Nier Automata, one of my favorite games of all time.

But in FFXIV I loved the raids at first but ended up kinda hating them because of how much I had to grind them lol.
Same with the Bozjan raids they just broke me.

i know man, only thing weirder is if a giant cyan tower full of clone ninjas erupted from underground, boy would that be out of nowhere

I wasn't a big fan, either. Factory and Bunker were fun, but Breach was not. I also didn't like the story. It all felt like a big commercial for Nier. The story had nothing to do with FFXIV and ends on a non sequitur.

As an aside, the point of a forum is not to express solidarity with community opinion but to express your own opinion. Could be that others share in your experience.

Anyway I hope Endwalker's 24 man is more fun for you.

from the outside, its hard to say if he pulled the plug or if thats all that was contracted. Collaborations and cross overs would have contracts so one party doesnt keep taking and using. the designers of the raids were the same ones that did Nier. so once they were done, zero contractual obligation to carry on. Its business

Just because SE owns both, doesnt mean its an endless partnership. thats -always- going to be a base issue with collaborations/cross overs

Story made sense enough to me, but perhaps that's because I have familiarity with all of the Drakengard games and Nier Replicant (old one)/Gestalt. It takes a lot from all of them, while also trying to fit in the story with the twin dwarfs. It's certainly not the best writing Yoko's done, but honestly? The man's C tier stuff is still better than some people's A tier, so I rarely find anything to complain about.

I do feel it could have used more in-between quests or lead-up quests than it had, but I primarily blame the length of things on Covid hitting very soon after ShB launched. That said, Yoko Taro also seems to have a bit of disdain for when SE wants him to do X or Y for monetization (see: Reincarnation), so who knows. But I didn't find them lacking in story, visuals, or mechanics - plus we got a lot of nice glamour pieces beyond the 2B set. As a big DrakeNier fan, I finished it fully satisfied each time.

Which, at least on the forums here, is the actual unpopular opinion from what I usually see. xD

You have a lot of good casual content to do. Why would you want bad casual content like the Nier raids added? Better use that time to either add good casual content or good hardcore content of which there's a lack of.

Sometimes the hardcore hate on these forums make peopel say silly things.

This is a general misconception in gamers of late that a story being convoluted and nonsensical for the sake of being convoluted and nonsensical = 5deep4me. Which is the reason why you have people circle patting their backs around Yoko Taro or Tesuya Nomura, thinking themselves smarter than they actually are for understanding the kindergarden level of story telling both Nier and Kingdom Hearts have. Their popularity have nothing to do with the quality story of the games, and all with that South Park smug fart episode.

You can have a convoluted story that makes sense and is good like 1995's Neon Genesis Evangelion, or Xenogears (and that game had to deal with budget issues and still managed to tell a great and deep story).

All the more reason why Stormblood was king! Those raids were nothing but awesome. Tho I like the nier raids cause they gave me the true Ada wong. 1

Realtalk I do like the raids tho. They are fun to DPS in, and the music is gold. Mostly in the second raid honestly. They have DJ music in the one fight and it's BANGIN'

I do love the story on Copied Factory and Bunker, but after you reached Tower, I was like... H U H ? !

It's so anticlimactic and the weekly Dwarves quests are the worst IMO. The ending also is... disappointing.

I need more stories like Void Ark... This collaboration's good stuff only 2B panties and the Nier music (The medley is my favourite), that's it.

I love the glamour, the unisex 2b heels, the music, but the story ... the world building ... it was bad, just bad.
It made zero sense no matter how you put it considering the lore and worldbuilding that has come to light in Shadowbringers.
Honestly gave me that disassociating feeling.

Well if you had read the rest of my post, you'd have known that, again in my circles (fc, friends, etc.) the first two Nier Raids weren't seen as 'bad content' so how should peopel have know that they wouldn't like the third one as much.

Also, while it is not for me, I know some people liek hard content. But looking at some of the data for TEA (https://twitter.com/Bwin4L/status/14...634236417?s=20), it paints a pretty clear picture how much of the palyerbase would prefer having an extra ultimate over having a thrid 24 man to catch people's gear up via drops and upgrade coins.
And my personal preferences aside, the developer going with fullfilling the wants of the most amoutn of players, as well as potential contract obligations due to being a crossover, irregardless of if it turned out good or not, the Ultimate fight was most liekely always higher on the list of thigns to cut becasue complications than the expansions thrid 24 man raid.

I think mechanically it was one of the best 24 Raids. But the Story was just so disconnected from the world and so meaningless to the world and so unsatisfying in the long run that I'm happy we get a original Story in Endwalker

I've never played a Neir game, so this was my first taste of it, sadly the aesthetic/story just never clicked with me and so has put me off from buying the game in the future, so really only ran them like 6 times before never touching them again. This would have been better as a Trial IMO like the MH one. I would much more have enjoyed a raid in the ruins of Ronka, something that had a connection with the First other than a space station crashing behind a hill.

From a gameplay perspective, I liked the Nier raids well enough. Some fun mechanics, though far too much repetition. Several bosses also just felt... long.

Story wise though. Oh boy... This may be the single worst "storyline" they've ever told. It barely even exists; held together by strings at best. It honestly felt like a massive advertisement for another game just how out of place everything was. While I was initially intrigued when Copied Factory released, I eventually started skimming through everything, later outright skipping cut scenes out of sheer boredom. It's just terribly written and amounts to absolutely nothing. Ironically, it made me less interested in ever touching Nier despite hearing how good it supposedly is.

The raids have also made me not want to look into the NieR games at all, where I previously might have. We're not given a reason to care about most of the characters, and if the ending is an example of how they do "deep and meaningful" then I am definitely out.

Either Anogg really came back, spontaneously and without explanation, which is too out-of-nowhere and renders her initial sacrifice as pointless drama. Also her reappearance doesn't feel "earned" in any way.

And if, as many have suggested, Konogg is dying (apparently by choice) because he can't live without her then that's miserable. It's not something deep or significant or movingly sad, just an unenjoyable ending.

It also really didn't help having both dwarves start out in sneaky "we're plotting world domination and are blatantly calling you the clueless shmuck who'll help us get there" mode before pivoting into the reckless-vs-cautious contrast. That initial behaviour totally soured them for me, and went nowhere besides.

I didn't think it'd go on indefinitely of course, I meant they were building up to something at the end of the weekly quests with how Glagg (I think it was Glagg, I can't remember) was acting all strangely during each one and then suddenly that was forgotten.

Nier raid is a wasted opportunity. SE basically gives up its own section of lore-friendly story-writing to advertise another series and they didn't even bother try to fit it in the world of FF14.



Music, graphic and raid-design wise, I think Nier raid does it right. This comes from a player who never play any series of Yoko Taro before. Story-wise, it is a cluster mess between the dwarf and the Nier character. Nothing feel connected between the dwarf's witch hunt problem and Nier threat on The First. Like, you have a bunch of weird machine flew out and attacked a village very loudly, but no one else in the First cares? Not even the neigboring dwarves come to check out what is so noisy about their competitors. To make it worse, everything Nier-related just suddenly came and went as they please. The ending is weekly gated for no reason, as if the raid tries to employ WoW's tactic to drive more players' sub time, and is a freaking disappointment.


I know it is very rude of me to tell this, and I know how Yoko Taro is well-known for being an eccentric writer, but please, SE should never let his games touch FF14 again in any form or shape. His games' cameo perhaps would be more enjoyable if it is seasonal event like FF15 collab. Not a full-blown 24-man raid that last for several content patches which offer zero thing to FF14's lore and waste a good opportunity for FF14 to expand its lore further, whether it is on the First or the Source.


I love FF14 and I don't hate Yoko Taro or his games even after the mess he involved in with Nier raid. This raid is really an unnecessary advertising since Nier series is already strong on its own.

Honestly, it's an incredibly lukewarm take. Not a lot of people liked the story, which, fair enough! I definitely thought it was lacking at points, though I had my expectations tempered due to being familiar with Yoko Taro's kind of writing (which is not always easy to digest/understand and definitely lacks complete explanations). Being a fan of NieR in general, I still enjoyed it overall, but I can see why people didn't like it. For myself personally, as someone who only played FFXII once and never beat FFT, the Ivalice raids absolutely bored me to tears. So I get it.

Still, at the very least, the NieR raids themselves were the best 24 mans in the game for me.
