You mean how straight people will glorify toxic and abusive relationships where a man mistreats and acts like his wife is somehow a great burden on his life, while she either meekly goes about doing everything she can to make him happy - or, on the flip side, seems to hate him just as much?

God forbid we look for representation amid all the toxic straight garbage media feeds people on a daily. If straight people get to interpret 2 seconds of eye contact between a man and a woman as the height of romance, LGBTQ+ can interpret a clearly close bond and deep care between two people of the same sex as romantic (and no, I don't just mean Ryne and Gaia in specific).

Another funny moment from ShB for me, now that I think about it: The look our WoL makes after Titania shows up with the pixie army to help us at Mt. Gulg, but is clearly angry we didn't actively call for them like they told us to. The guilty little grin the WoL gives when you choose the "I think they're mad at me" option is one of the best.

In general, I loved how expressive the WoL was in ShB. It's a far cry from the early days in the MSQ (which I am reliving lately).

How about stop trying to stir up trouble?

I judge people how they act, not who they love. So it is not really an issue to me. I know it is hard living in a world with deep religion ties that tells you your way of living is wrong. I'm understanding, but my god the passive aggressive nature in some of the LGTBQ community makes it really hard to put up with. But, i guess that is also understandable considering how people to this day still act around you. I just wish this whole representation movement would stop. Giving the ok for companies to use your movement for profits comes at a heavier price than people really think, and if the gamers only care about quality of game and enjoyment. So when a game is bad, they always point to "woke" issues and it sets you back.


I really don't have a right answer as it is not my fight, and I can't really fight for a cause I don't understand. All I can do is cheer you on, and hope that things get better. Be it good or bad religion is slowly dying. Now it is just a tool for the older people, in fear of dying and what that brings. So no matter how sad it feels to see people hating, just know the wind is at your back. Even if it does not feel it.

As I said I'm understanding but it still is a very annoying thing to put up with. It is like that person who always yelling and upset. Sure they have a reason to be, but it still makes it hard for people to put up with. I think that energy needs to be pointed in the right way. Aka at the gov, and getting more and more rights. Because after this covid thing, We see the quality of people in "usa" if you are from it. We are dumb as bricks, and so hard headed set in our own ways. That it is a losing battle trying to deal with the people, and passive aggressive just puts fuel on the fire.

People are trying, trust me. And yet progress continues to be slow, people continue to kill LGBTQ+ just for existing, people continue to scream and yell because we ask for basic human rights, people say we're disgusting and idiotic because we see representation of ourselves between some same-sex characters in various media, it goes on and on and it isn't even as bad in the USA as elsewhere. Some countries still stone you to death if you're even suspected of being LGBTQ+.

So until our people stop dying in the streets, we're going to keep yelling. That's all most of the world seems to understand anymore; whoever yells the loudest gets listened to. You can dislike that if you want, but we've tried every other way and this is the only way that seems to be pushing some ground whatsoever.

Either way, what exactly is the point of bringing negativity into a positive thread that doesn't even have this as a primary topic? Some of y'all need to learn how to use the ignore feature. (Not aiming this directly at you, Wavaryen, but in general)

Ya, but change is going to be slow. Heck we still don't even got decent health care here. Also your battle is going against 2.000 years of religion that has very deep roots in people. I’m talking about specifically in game since this is in game forums. I don’t really see people doing that for the other characters no not really. But it’s been a very prominent thing for people to obsess over the two underaged girls’ sexuality and try to push the false notion of them being gay. I never said it was an lgbtq only thing, i’m giving a specific example about the game we are discussing and not other off topic examples. But as a member of the lgbt myself, i’ve noticed it’s a very prominent thing with the community. Constantly trying to find every sliver of someone being gay or making jokes about it. It’s one of their biggest hypocrisies. They get upset when other people do it but they do the same lol.

I am wondering are the people condemning this thread also condemning the troll threads. If they are not which I presume they are just ignoring them, it's a bit hypocritical.

How about you get off a forum about a mmo game with your political nonsense.

We're flattered you chose this specific topic to spend your 6th ever post in 3 years but... you could've just moved on?

I'm going to spend as many post as required to see the forum rules upheld. You move on to another platform, thanks.

Why do people feel the need to sexualize, romanticize, or change a character to fit their own ideals? If the creators wish to add or change up an avatars persona or story they will. If you want it to happen now by all means create your own game, story, and etc. to meet your ideology.

There is a certain benefit to exposing people to non-heteronormative relationships and characters, even if not being super obnoxious about it. Bringing those people to light helps normalization, which helps LGBT people feel included in a society that is often hostile towards them (Which in turn helps integration and willigness to contribute society grow), and also helps non LGBT people see these groups as human. Exposure makes them see them as common, helps them connect with them in their humanity, how they share similar trials and tribulations, how they are nothing more than other humans trying to get by.


Of course, it's all about how you show these characters. Writers often compensate for LGBT characters by making them Mary Sues, Gary Stues, raising them above the common folk to show how "special", "unique" and "oppressed" they are. Honestly that doesn't help non LGBT people see LGBT people as humans.

To the people being unbelievable hateful. Your comments are neither interesting nor helpful.

Saying things like romance and sexuality shouldn't be in the game, are you forgetting about all the great hetero romances and have deepened many characters back stories? Example: Y'stola and Runar, Wedge and his crush on Tataru, Magnai and his search for a wife. Not to mention all side stories that go much farther. Those are wonderful and you never scream about their genitals to discredit them in the story.

In the end that doesn't matter here because this thread is only to say hello to the player base. The LGBTQAI community is not political, they are people. People that see you trying to hurt them because they would like to play the game without be harassed.

This post is made to be kind and to leave people with a positive note.

The LGBT+∞ is very political.

And I didn't know that politicians are not considered people. What's that supposed to mean "The LGBTQAI community is not political, they are people"? When a community becomes involved with a policy it is no longer a community that consists of real human beings?

Magnai's search for wife is played for laughs/as a running gag and if anything it actually TAKES AWAY from what should otherwise had been an intimidating character. It is very hard to take him seriously as a threat over your claim over the Steppes when he is running around chasing skirts or as a powerful ally in your fight against the Empire when he is reduced to a child tantrum over BossGirl'Tolla hurting his feelings.

And sure, Wedge's crush over Tataru deepens his character and backstory...because there is none of it to begin with. Go right now to google and type "Wedge FFXIV" and every single result entry will be "Wedge AND Biggs FFXIV" because neither Biggs nor Wedge have enough of a character or personality outside their pairing to warrant being considered separate entities.

OH and finally I love how you purposefully left out the ONE romance/crush/love story that actually gives a backstory, purpose and motivation to a character, because it would work against your "heterosexual oppresion" narrative: Asahi's obsession over Gaius.

I don't feel bad reading it, it's just kinda funny how there are people so pressed about this! What's so threatening to you that someone likes the same sex? Can you really not mind your own business? Live your own life? Gay people existing literally doesn't affect you, and if it does.. surely your life has more to it right? It's really funny someone would spend their energies on this lol. Anyway my favorite part was when Estinien mistook Alisae for Alphinaud. Made me legit laugh out loud.

My favorite part was Valen's milk scene or Burn. Out. The. Bad.
