surely those are just all coincidences, he actually meant a different cosby, the use of "Klan" instead of "clan" is because he is of german descent and 14 was used in Honor of final fantasy 14 of which he thought everyone was so nice to him until this farce happened. i mean really, who could look at these things and think any of this would have been intentional ? not to forget he mentioned his retainers were named inappropriatly which is most likely also hearsay. 99% chance the names were something totally innocent, like for example niger (the river) or faq (because he likes cigars). people really are to quick to jump to conclusions here /s

I'll never understand why players like OP feel they have to give characters names that really aren't names. freejebus being a perfect example.

I do like that those in charge are taking action against those who feel they need to do this.

I hope people continue reporting terrible names 100% though. I don't want to join a group with a dragoon named dnkypunch.

I think there is a important point we all missed here and that speaks for the OP and his innocence in this specific case. His highest job and mainjob is fisher.

A bit off topic but this is reminding me a lot of how crazy it gets with names and characters. It probably would break the lore a bit, but I've wondered if having a serial tag or something under the name would work better than limiting names to one per character. It feels great to get the early bird special (just about all of us from ARR days got the name we wanted), but I can't really blame people doing weird names when it seems that every name in the random name generator has been used. Technically, I gave up my original name when I swapped genders to a female character.

In real life there are multiple people named John Wilson and the primary way one John Wilson tells the other apart is by SSN, appearance, and other factors. In games I'd imagine this would be a good tool. Like when you go to your home city the first time they give you papers with your official citizen papers and it has some identifying number value on it.

On topic:

OP names character as a reference to Bill Cosby while the Blizzard Activision thing is going on. That is playing with fire and I'm not surprised of the ban.

I love when little Edge Lords come to public forums to grovel and complain about being banned. I love when they lie about what they were banned for, downplaying what they actually did. Pretending they did nothing wrong and they werent intentionally trying to be offensive for the sole purposes of shoving that offensiveness in the faces of the players around them. Cause I am all for these types of player not being allowed to spread and lower the quality of community.

being new to FFXIV myself, I am really enjoying it so far. Still have not found a FC, but mostly because the names i've seen have just been terrible.

Honestly, I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

The red flags are obvious euphemisms or high school toilet humor (like a “Hugh Jas” or any Bart Simpson phone prank name). If someone thought it was a good idea to name their character “Big Melons” and you thought it was a good idea to join their FC…you really shouldn’t be surprised by their maturity level.

I came from WoW, as I'm sure a lot of people here have. I spent 10 years on Azeroth slowly watching the community erode and be consumed by more and more behavior from players like OP, ill be damned if i let it happen here.

OP is the softest of the soft. The man legit complaining about their punishment instead of just owning up to it. Adults should also welcome the consequences of their actions especially when they must have know their joke would trigger a bunch of people.
