Request: Longer hairstyles & More male hairstyles

Also a little side-topic, it would be amazing if they added a dye table to the hair accessory, and finally declutter the style list of 5x the same hair but with different hairpin colors.

Hair doesn't come in three fixed lengths. It's a gradient and there's no universal agreement on where one label transitions to the next.

It's much better to talk about the specific length you're thinking of. Don't say "medium length" and leave someone else to guess whether you mean chin length or shoulder length or something else.

I'm also tired of anime protag hairstyles.

My wishlist would include: Fuller and better looking beards on more races that aren't Roegadyn or Highlander would be nice. More short hairstyles that lean toward the masc side of things (IE buzzcuts on more races that don't include that weird design that midlander males have, fades, stuff that doesn't go past the ear). Natural hairstyles for black characters that are not that cartoonishly animated afro.

I can only assume that feminine/androgynous hairstyles are just more popular overall and that's why they have priority. After all Miqo and Auri girls are by far the most played characters, whereas the most masculine races - Roes and Highlander - are rock bottom.

I don't think it's that they're more popular, it's just that Yoshi-P plays a female character himself and doesn't seem to really care much about what male characters get by comparison. He's dismissed ideas for male character glamour/customisation features only to enthusiastically agree to suggestions for female glamour/customisation because he wants it too.

Overall, the split between male and female characters is roughly equal on a global basis. On my server, at least, I've also seen a sharp rise in the amount of male Raen/Xaela and Midlanders ever since the free trial expanded and the game increased in popularity.

Roegadyn are also a bit too bulky for most people's tastes, whereas Highlander men can't be designed to have very attractive faces that aren't 'samey'. They have great bodies, don't get me wrong - but they're no Snow, Gladio or Jecht facially.

The only time I have seen him show a preference for something due to his character was in an interview he said he pushed for Yshtola’s new outfit to release quickly because he wanted it for his character, which I thought was kinda cute. Not saying Theodric is making it up and this is the only time this has happened because I really don’t know.

I was just going to post about the infamous design contest. I'm so glad they never did that kind of thing again after realizing most of the votes went out based on how much users like the art style rather than the concept itself. Looking through that relic is sad when so many interesting entries got buried because of poor artistic style :(

Also, clipping be damned. Viera only have two hair styles that don't clip into everything imaginable. It's fine, release the length!!

I'm annoyed at the tiny, child-like random braids some hairstyles have. The braids serve no purpose-- I want halo braids & milk-maid braids, actual thick braided hairstyles- the kind of braids that serve a purpose.
Also, I want frans ponytail for Viera, Mjrns bob & a really long viera hair that doesn't look like they're hiding a lalafell in it
I know Viera have a short-mid length hair that is flat, but they need better hairstyles-- I'd like more with an optional black diadem/ tiara similar to what Fran wears- imo, if SE is so deadset on viera not having any hats, they need to design their hairs to cater to actually making viera not need hats by giving them customization with their hair accessories

Imagine if Viera could have super long anime hair - who cares about clipping, I'd sacrifice all the hats in the game for them, that's what I'd call a fair trade.

Exactly. I don't want it to look like my character uses a swordfish to and a hedgehog to style his hair in the morning... I'm one of the types that wants something that looks more grounded in realism and everyday looks. We have some already, sure. But it always felt like the options were pretty limited, especially considering the additions for mens hair we've had over the past 4-ish years.
