I know but i figured both of those would come in to play in season 2 and 3, where as for the season 1 finale they will wrap up the story of the 3 great continents (where the story takes place now) by having us go to the last one of the three.

Hope: They consolidate the buttons that are used infrequently but have innate requirements. For example, If a Samurai triggers 3rd eye, the 3rd eye button could become Seigan (and they should merge seigan and merciful eyes honestly, the healing is so negligible). Or Dream Within a Dream and Assassinate, since you cannot use assassinate without DWaD being on cooldown. That they finally make it so tachi-enpi doesn't break melee combos. That they actually go back and fix the levels you get things at for all the melee dps and most of the casters. Which you can read as "give everyone an AE skill by level 15." That they kill the Kenki Mastery trait and just make it baseline because levels 52-62 are miserable when you get sync'd. And of course, more glamour chest space, as well as the ability to change plates outside of major cities, more plates, and the ability to tie hairstyles to plates. More idle poses. A dedicated glasses item slot so I can wear hats.
Fears: PvP style combo's brought over into PvE. The story, because I really hate the 2 nerds that are looking like they will be the antagonists of this expansion. Also vaguely worried that FF16 will take up too much of Yoshida's and Ishikawa's time and we end up back in Stormblood quality. That they somehow mess Samurai up but I have almost no reason to think that they will. That they get someone awful to be their next guest designer for one of the raid series.
Hopes:
Update ALL of the god damn character models, so when they start constantly zooming in on any of the characters faces I won't barf from the ugly, cracked textures.
Update the character creator. Would like for them to invest in a Nioh 2-esque character creator
Alphinaud n Alisaie grow at least 3 inches taller and get and keep new outfits
My man Zenos cutting the shit out of Fandonghole
Fears:
Fears are that the content raids included get easier and MCH goes unchanged as in begging for a surprise rework from that garbage
Hopes:
- NIN becomes melee focused again.
- Story that surpasses ShB
- PS4 Pro mode fixed and optimised
Vain hopes:
- Assassin job/class
- No skill deletions
Fears:
- All melee skills from NIN are deleted and replaced with ninjutsu.
- All the skills that will be deleted (PLD is going to be hit hard...)
- A further homogenisation of all jobs. Would they please just ignore the forum requests for balance and let each job have pros and cons over others.
- Broil is deleted. No new DPS skills for SCH. You heal. And only heal.
Undecided:
- Story tie into FFXVI. Is it taking place on the fallen fire shard? In the future? Previous calamity? Plenty of scope for an expansion of the world lore similar to each game that took place in Vana'diel.
Hopes- Beast Master as a normal job, but they continue the limited job content cause BLU is fun content but I wanna main Beastmaster.
Hrothgar and Viera get to wear all past, present and future head gear in game like the other races do.
Fears- We don't go to the Garlean Empire and if we do go Garlemald is a dungeon instead of a zone, just like they did go Ala Mhigo.
We get less content each expansion going forward, like less dungeons etc each patch, I want more content like as much as we got in arr and hw.
I'm a simple man with simple Hopes
I get to use Gil to change my hairstyle over HAVING to buy a fantasia
And I get more hairstyles to change into and moving forward all newly created headgear is useable
Hopes: None, I have no hope in the healer design anymore after that remark about SCH in the last live letter. And in the rest of the class design as a whole in turn.
Fears: That healers will become even more braindead to play, that they'll take away dots and reduce DPS further in some attempt to encourage healing. The New Healer will just be a carbon copy of the rest with slightly different styling. They'll find a way to butcher the lore of the healing classes EVEN MORE SOMEHOW (probably just get rid of ASTs cards entirely, turn ALL of whm's spells into light, and delete the fairy at this rate). Basically healers will somehow become even more shit than they are now all in some vain hope of people "healing more" and getting more people to play the role, but it will just drive those few of us left dedicated to the role away from it.
Everything will be simplified, homogenized, made the same for the sake of "balance", while completely forgoing lore, class fantasy, and fun... and if it's not fun, why even bother?
I don't know what they expect.. "heal more"? Then maybe they need to adjust their encounter design. As far as general content goes, you barely need to heal EVER! I don't really understand the logic of them making very easy content, and then expecting healers to heal more, when there is nothing to heal! For the most part, the only time I ever really need to heal is when players are constantly failing mechanics.
I just want the brothels off party finder.
Hope:
- More hairstyles for Hroth and Viera
- New healer job that's not a WHM clone, or an overhaul to the current 3
- Male highlander eyebrows
Wishful thinking:
- Updates for every race - better overall textures, more faces, tattoos, facial hair, muscle slider for everyone, maybe separate Au Ra faces from horns, and Hroth face from hair, also male nipples .
- Actual voices for our character more than just grunts or laughs
- Wardrobe system similar to WoW's - you wear the item once and the game registers it, now you no longer need to keep the actual item, making it account bound too would be going an extra mile
- Better dyed gear - make it look like it's an actual color variant, not like you literally threw the outfit in a paint bucket.
- BLU becomes an actual DoM job, speaking of-
Fear:
- I know many people like BLU, but I reaaaaaally hope time and resources are not spent [ wasted, imo ] with another limited job.
- No new healer, nor major changes to any of the current ones
Life, Hopes, Dreams:
- Skills "change" in accordance to new additions for their new direction going forward (IE VerHoly/Flare/Scorch and the FBT skills) instead of just axing old ones
- The genders we're missing on Viera and Hrothgar
- SE for the love of life please un-homogenize healers and tanks - slight unbalance is more fun and frankly healthier than what we have now
- Bozja-type content is fine, I suppose, but I'd also love to see a return of DD content as well. It currently feels and will feel VERY weird to not have one between 70 and 80
- As for new classes: A healer is needed and while wanting to "balance" the current ones is... Actually more of a legitimate reason now than it ever was in SB, a new job is a pretty damn good start to at least revitalizing how they feel (unless you just... copy-paste one of the others. Please don't do this.)
- Follow up on the classes: A new caster. I'm pining for Geomancer and the delicious ringing of bells, but I'd equally love a darkness-themed caster.
Where do they come from, and why are they smashed:
- More homogenization will occur
- I actually like Zenos because his simplicity balances the depth you gave the Ascians - but even that can overstay its welcome, and him being the big-bad again would just feel like SB repeat
- A rework to BLM - it'll need one eventually but right now it feels good, don't change it just yet.
- I quit being a healer because I got bored, and seeing nothing change for them would... be crushing, frankly.
- More focus on Limited jobs: I think the concept is fine, but they feel a bit... Too limited. Get the system to a good place with BLU first, THEN add new ones.
It's more of a thing on some DCs rather than others, but it's a greatly exaggerated issue, Honestly there's more "Totally not RMT" clear sellers clogging up the PF under the duty roulette tab than there are any advertisements for brothels or other adult activities.
Hopes:
A new healer job
Reassess the current design direction for healers in general (They need far more differentiation, and less redundant skills)
Content that keeps me logging in regularly. (Relics which would have, no longer do)
Fears:
No male Viera
No expanded customization for existing races (which is very much needed at this point)
More than one dungeon per patch. Even if the non-MSQ dungeon(s) are just "Unreal" dungeons - exactly the same as pre-81 dungeons, just level-scaled up to 90. Having only two dungeons in EX Roulette, one of which you've already been sick of for months, is just *awful*.
Zenos dying for good before 6.0, without ever re-encountering the WoL. Fandaniel turning out as awesome as 4.4's "Solus" did in 5.0.
Diadem/Eureka/Bozja being banished forever to the Hell from which they came. Or if they absolutely insist on doing it again against all logic, to be *completely* divorced from the story and relics, and nearly a straight-reskin a la HoH so that there is more dev time for actual good content.
Either Hildebrand returning, or a new questline with new characters similar in scope and tone to his ARR antics.
A use for massive amounts of MGP or gil? Been capped on both for years now. [Well, I guess I could cap my retainers' gil too, but why?]
Extreme trials removed from Mentor Roulette. Like ... please? Or at least a notice for new players that they maybe should do these in PF, or at least check out those snazzy tomestone vendors first.
PvP - or at least Frontlines - going back to using our actual skills and gear again. That, or PvP being even more completely ignored than it already is.
I'd most like to go to the Moon, with Garlemald's capital a close second. But I'm confident that anywhere we go will be pretty cool.
My health improving to the point I could actually commit to a static, or have the energy to pug things...
I really hope Gaia and Ryne are incorporated somehow into the 6.0 story, I think I’ll cry if I never see those two again.
*looks at PF in the morning*
*looks at PF in the afternoon*
*looks at PF in the evening*
*looks at PF late at night*
Spoilers: They are always there, and in bulk.
Totally an exaggerated issue on Crystal. :rolleyes: They can easily be ignored, but there's still a lot of them to see. They easily outnumber any "sellers" 3-4 to 1 at any given time.
Hopes:
- Some kind of major improvement in the game's code, for a large number of reasons that goes from responsivity to better encounter designs;
- Not holding my breath for Blue Mages becoming a traditional job, but I'm hoping a lot that they get more love in what is considered their endgame content;
- I don't think the character models need an overhaul, but I'm really expecting more customization options across the board, and improvements to the ones we have such as Au Ra horns detached from the faces;
- Viera boys and Hrothgar girls. Also the improvements that we have countless threads about for them;
- Summoner being overhauled to ditch Egis for good and work just with trances and Demi summons;
- Scholar faeries, I don't expect the same fate, but something should be done with the responsitivity of the healing spells;
- Beastmaster added as a Limited Job with an exclusive pet-based collecting and combat system, with tournaments;
- Machinist having their 1-2-3 rotation visuals toned down. Now that we see them non-stop instead of procs, it's kind of exhausting;
- Chemist/Apotechary as the new healer job;
- Fix for the unhealthy housing situation and add a new vertical axis for furnishing. And Ishgard housing is almost a guarantee at this rate;
- Ascians, Zodiark & Hydaelyn arc finale;
Fears:
- More job homogenization;
- Ascians, Zodiark & Hydaelyn arc not ending and dragging for yet another expansion;
Hopes:
They fix housing
Fears:
They don't fix housing
I hope Viera will be able to wear the paid for haircuts from Mogstation.
I also hope that Zenos and Fandaniel will be minor villains.
Also Hope that Elezen will get a new model
A New Healer Class would be awesome as well.
Storywise I know they'll do good I've been pleased each expansion
Also More Hildibrand.
I fear that Zenos and Fandaniel will be the major big bads and that's too bad.Neithers really interesting.
I also fear that nothing will be done with the Ascian Pashtarot.
Hopes:
- Missing genders for the new races
- New palace of the death content that is more tuned to those of us who try to solo it
- a great story
- more slots for the inventory and the glamour dresser
- new long time battle content that is fun on its own
Fears
- even less core content in exchange for something that will be death quite fast
- something similar to the Diadem
- another Ishgard that is nothing more than Rowena turn in with a huge boring grind
- another relic quest where you are forced to do the "new" content.
Biggest fear that probably will turn out that way:
Zenos being the big bad for 6.0 or even 7.0, getting his battle by eating Zodiark...also having to see more about this weak Emet-Selch clone and his punshable face...turning the end boss into another one of those uninteresting pure evil villian fights that you know that you will win anyways..
I think he was just vaguely saying 'The Zodiark/Hydaelyn arc did not reach its climax yet'. But he never really said when that climax will be as far as I can remember.
I personally don't think it will end in 6.0. Maybe in 6.3....But, I can also see this whole story arc being put aside until 7.X to be honest... It is unlikely considering where the story seems to be going to, but who knows...
Anways, more Hopes :
- hard mode for single player instances (serving as a training ground before jumping into harder group content)
- add Bozjan type Critical Engagements in the open world FATEs (bonus point if they add duels in each zone, even though they'd probably need to be easier due to the lack of OP abilities)
- revamp the glamor system into an actual transmog system. I would be fine sacrificing a few patches worth of content for that :p
- a limited job roulette that rewards allied seals daily or weekly (Using DF for the weekly blue mage stuff is not convenient enough IMO. I'd like to have this as a roulette when they add a second limited job....maybe in 5.5...)
- having a Papalymo-ish cutscene in 5.5.
- SMN is obviously getting a rework, so I hope they make that great fun and don't ruin it
Fears :
- the community dislikes some of the changes and gets very vocal about it, which is something that will inevitably happen...
- Zenos and Fandaniel die without having their emotional moment like Elidibus/Emet-Selch did.
-
Hopes
Job changes/fixes so they are fun and unique again Healers getting to heal more, tanking requiring aggro management, Astro getting cards and time magic back, Sch getting fairy and dots back, whm getting procs, elements and self buffs again, drk getting branching combos less spam and some sustain with LD fixed, spam and ping dependancy removed from mch, bard getting songs back etc
-Buffs and debuffs actually being strong enough to see without a parser
-Return of cross class alongside role class to reward levelling alt jobs.
-Glamour overhaul with enough plates for each job/class +1 more
-Blu becoming either op solo job as advertised or an actual caster
-Story is good with the WOL being proactive for once. Shoot the damn villain already instead of letting them throw a tantrum/endanger the bystanders.
-Zenos/fandaniel get replaced by antagonists actually worthwhile and never come back
-Texture, and character creation update
-Instanced housing
-Viera/hrothgar missing genders and hats added
-Solo endgame duties as alternatives for getting savage tokens and ult glams for those without the RL situations to get them
-Hall of the novice update and mandatory
-Ilvl sync lowered in older duties to preserve the challenge
-Antibot improvements and undercutting fixes
-a minor general difficulty rise so players can't be braindead/afk/watching netflix during duties
-Materia, fishing and dyes getting their own inventory
-Dyes getting to be used as a colour wheel
-Community reps to actually come onto these forums more often than once a year
Fears
-Latency and other server issues getting worse (whatever they did in 5.3 its made some isps connect worse to the servers)
-Jobs dumbed down even more
-No new healer
-More content getting rushed or not playtested correctly
-Casters/healers getting no glamours beyond robes or jackets AGAIN
-Devs doubling down on their mistakes
-Namitaro still requiring months to catch
-Se not upping the budget or staff resulting in less resources for the game. (please stop SE, budget bringers is really showing the limits of what the current team can do in a limited time frame)
Hopes:
-Healer gameplay is improved
Fears:
-Healer gameplay is destroyed
Hopes:
More Garlean story, detail, zones. I want to see and explore the empire.
Continue to tell a great story.
Fears:
Derpy batsh*** insane, boring, 1 dimensional villains à la Zenos and Fandaniel (Twilight Hammer anyone?)
Even more healer DPS spells removed due to "moar focus on healing" but then not much more to heal.
Nightmares:
That they copy WoWs healing system in which you spamcast weak placebos and are dependent on CD based large heals, making me feel like a horribly weak character.
That they attempt and botch a "character revamp" like Blizzard did.
I have only fears and I fear “accessibility” as that’s the root of all of FF14 issues
Healers need to heal more to be “accessible”
Ranged can’t have complex rotations, they need to be “accessible”
Trash pulls are supposed to be easy, it’s “accessible” content
Tanks are scary...they need to be “accessible”
Savage is getting too hard, we need to make them more “accessible”
24 man shouldn’t be difficult and should be able to bounce back with very few party members, it’s “accessible” that way
Relic quests are a chore, being “accessible” is best
Dungeons don’t need to have many mechs and require more gates, to make it more “accessible” to new players....at lv80
Overworld needs less mobs and more easy to dodge Aoes, players will be turned off by the lack of “accessibility” otherwise and quit
Shinryu was way to hard, let’s make them more “accessible” with Hades. They seem to like it
“Raids” are already reduced to trials anyways. let’s make them have less mechs for NM to make it more “accessible”
Leveling sucks, road to 90 isn’t enough we need to make leveling more “accessible”
To be fair most of these things the playerbase has complained about before. For example with the 24 man one, orbonne was made hard people complained and then they made it easier. Relic quest people didn't like eureka so they made this expansions relic grind easier and made it so you can do the relic outside of the new content and inside it. And no one really said the ranged cant have complex rotations.
My hope is that they make beastmaster a full job (Probably wont but ya know QuQ) if they do make it limited it plays well with blue mage.
Chemist as the new healer, need my that more gadget based healer to make a trifecta of GNB MCH and CHM.
Garlean based armor because they cool.
More Zenos because I love the guy
Another Melee dps so I have another job that uses maiming or scouting gear (Please yoshi p i beg)
I'm fine with Ranged DPS having an easier rotation, but with other mechanics to care for, like dots, procs, etc. I main MCH, and I really think it needs a bit more in that sense, but just not the way it was before with their procs, that was abysmal.
And the Beastmaster... Honestly, I share the assurance that will probably be a Limited job, but differently from Blue Mage, that tries to bend itself to regular job's content, BST will probably feature a separate pet battle system, and maybe even a pet tournament or something like that. It would be amazing to have pvp in that sense as well. Probably BST will also have some "regular job" solo actions just to be able to survive out there, however most of the complexity will probably fall under this new system.
Reason why I don't really think BST will be feature as a regular job is simply because of XIV not being able to code and work out pet mechanics in their systems for the type of content tha the other jobs run. Hence why Summoners, with each expansion, have been straying away from being a true pet job (micromanagement, etc), and probably 6.0 will seize the chance to really put them fully just with more trances with just a flashy summoning animation in the end, instead of pseudo-pets that enjoy ghosting your moves.
Hopes:
+Jobs are finally "done" with the major revamping/overhaul as a whole; small tweaks and balance from here on out.
+A GuildWars 2-esque end to "Season 1"; In GW2, when you joined the game, as long as you were max level (in FFXIV terms, 50), you could begin any of the different expansions
+An end to level raising. Just increase iLVL and have that be the barrier of entry to content.
+Fix MP/HP; why is it at level 1 I have around 100 HP and 10,000 MP? I would say you should reach a max HP and MP at level 50. Keep the same numbers we have now behind the scenes, but seeing huge ridiculous numbers makes them lose meaning (to me; imho).
+Post Release zones. Guildwars releases entire new zones with some kinda meta as part of their major patches. This is fantastic when you want something new to do and allows for a variety of new experiences (story, new harvesting nodes, possibly new hunts).
Fears:
-FFXI route of "micro expansions" which tell short, disconnected stories. Fun, but never really satisfying in the way a full expansion is.
-Stagnation/rinse repeat villains. I get what they're trying to go for with Zenos (Zemus??) and fully expect him to turn into FF4's Zeromus for a major boss of the next expansion...but it's just not really a compelling thing at this point.
Beside BRD playing ranged to any other job is almost night and day. I specifically play DNC when I need last minute roulettes and don’t need to pay attention, same goes for MCH. Complexity for a job already having such a massive upper hand is very offputting
Ivalice Raids are notorious for being the best 24 man raid. They are far from hated content and every person complains about everything I doubt any of them complained it was boring. Neirs isn’t super easy but it’s getting pretty close in a environment where endgame stuff besides savage is getting too “accessible”
Also...eureka issues and Bozja issues are unique and they completely missed the mark with the approach. Much more complex than “people complained so they made it easier”
I have my own idea's how to make BST work as a full job (or limited) while still using the beasts but ya know i don't know all the limitaions of the servers and the coding exactly so I wouldn't be able to say if it would work fully or not. From what i've seen while playing it the main problem with the pets we have are they are usually on a time limit (refering to the demi system). One way they could fix SMN is to make it so the summon isn't consumed when summoning the demi and have the egi assaults unavailable while having the demi out that way the demi can still finish the casts while you still do your demi phases. They'd have to tweak the numbers for SMN and the egi's damage but in my head it works out. And just use the Demi system as the main pet for BST while using the coding they have for queen/LS for other pets. If they make it a melee like in bozja (even though they are using tank gear in there) it would help with the too much movement problem of demi's also but ya know this is coming from someone who can't look at the coding and such and just going off observations from playing the job for a time.
I personally don't think HP/MP needs to be fixed, it seems perfect the way it is now with how mp shows on party window they show up like a percent is perfect to me. Hp Probably will go down eventually when they do a stat squish, which could be in 6.0 since they were thinking about doing it at the start of SHB.
And the PHY Ranged pay the price for less complexity with lesser damage. The team seem to be of the mindset of if you want to play a more complex ranged based job play the casters since they have cast times and more complicated rotations. I mainly say this with how they went from making the PHY ranged also casters in HW to being mobile again in SB.
Nier raids would probably be better looked at if it wasn't nier related. I don't agree that it's getting too close to accessible. And even if it was they probably made it this way because of orbonne's difficulty. Plus people just don't think it really fits in ff14. (I don't mind since it's the first so why not)
Eureka has its problem with Anemos and pagos and got better with Pyros and hydatos. The only missed mark i think they made with bozja is how they did lacus litore. If they made it so you have to grind your relic out in bozja i think people would see that it's fine to do. Get other stuff to sell while doing it as well. (Though if more people did it when my market for the cluster stuff would be ruined so maybe its a boon)
Hope: That with hopefully adding a 4th healer that it will finally balance the healers amazingly and also make them unique from each other. Astro threw a hard wrench into the healer balance being able to go either regen or shield stance. The devs just can’t get it right with 3 healers.
Fear: That the devs won’t get rid of summoner pets. The system just doesn’t work. Summoner is all over the place now. Please don’t just add another Demi and call it a day. I want to see a rework to summoner to give us a trance/Demi rotation kinda like bard with their songs. Single target demis and aoe demis. Would love that. Just make the carbuncles a cosmetic for running around in towns and such.
Fear: Hroth & Viera keep getting the short end of the stick with hats. Hroth in particular with hair. I'm about to go back to to being a Miqo because i cant use hardly any of the new headgear or hairs i've unlocked over the years or bought from the mogstation. I just did the heavensturn event quest just to realize i cant even wear the ugly helmet they always make. Throughout the whole Shadowbringers expansion there were head gears/hats I couldn't wear even stuff from NEW patches. Buying a fantasia to switch to hroth has been the most frustrating glamour experience on a character.
The problem with FFXIV is that it is so story heavy that it seems hard to jump in an expansion without having any idea of what happened before. Having a look at what WoW just did, which is fantastic; players can now pick an expansion to do their leveling from level 10 to 50, after having a "proper" 1 to 10 experience teaching you the basis of your kit and the game. But WoW has more "zone stories" than FFXIV, where everything is linked to the big picture. So it would be weird if FFXIV allowed you to level up from 1 to entry expansion level in a given expansion.
Yet, we can't really keep on adding MSQ on top of itself an expect new players to join in easily. You have potentially weeks of content before reaching endgame if you can only play for an hour or so per day. In that respect, the ARR revamp was welcome, but it's still too little IMO.
Hopes:
-Complete healer rework embracing the green dps. Shb's iteration of the role has been the worst so far and its because the pure healer aproach which is a mentality that doesnt work in FFXIV and devs should know that.
-Enhance the gameplay of jobs like all the tanks, mch or sam (rework tsubame gaeshi pls)
-Give more battle content, Shb's has been so far the expansion that has the least content when compared to 4.4 or 3.4
-Make the "new" Eureka well designed, Eureka with all its flaws was fun but Bozja is a mess thanks to being able to farm relics faster outside it and how castrum is underwheilming with rewards and almost dead right now.
-Add an actual deep dungeon and don't make us wait a year for the relic weapons, they should be added by the x.0 or x.1
-Add a TEST SERVER for jobs. I don't mind the surprises, I want my jobs to work and things like 5.0 Sch should never happen again. The fact that it happen once show that the testing they do in SE is far from enough.
-Add a proper tutorial, is unbelievable how many people reach lv80 without knowing the basics of their jobs because MSQ doesn't teach barely anything.
Fears:
-Dev team keep thinking that healers only heal and dont learn from Shb's mistakes. Something that ED's nerf on Sch and the fact that they keep thinking that if they lower the damage of the skills we will eventually heal (Spoiler: WE DON'T) seems to show that is very likely to happen.
-The story is not up to the expectations
-The devs continue streamlining and dumbing down the game's mechanics and jobs for the sake of accesibility
-Jobs start to lose their identity
-Next expansion is even more lacking in content than shadowbringers
-The devs dont listen to the community and keep enforcing how they think things should be vs how it actually is.
