I agree, now that we have the Dancer hair that is long (except Viera STILL can't wear it >:(! ) I feel SE is more willing to give us better hairstyles that aren't short..spikey repeats of other hairstyles that basically already exist. Your images are perfect examples and thank you for sharing them, adding them to the list of much needed/ coveted hairstyles.

I don't believe Hilda's would work on Miqo'te. The left ear would be on top of braids.

I'd love Garnet's original hair style, i usually dont like sharing actual character hair styles (i like my character to feel it has its own identity) but it's a pretty basic, cute hair style. That or Rosa from ffiv's hair.

Not that viera would ever get either :)

Not really into the Minfilia one myself. That would clip with literally every top in existence, and when you sprint it would probably stab you through the gut. What's funny is we actually kind of have lesser variants of all these styles, but I definitely wouldn't say no to more.

I never said they shouldn't be available to everyone else even if they aren't for viera/hrothgar, as I don't think any race should be limited or ignored. They shouldn't ignore the two new races and should work to fix the problems with them that make it harder to develop hairstyles for them so that it isn't a problem in the future. They developed two very highly requested and anticipated races that people have wanted to play forever only for their customization to be severely lacking in comparison to old races, and even the new hairstyle that came WITH the expansion isn't available for the new races that were part of the draw for the expansion.

Me still playing a Viera doesn't mean anything other than I feel like playing a Viera at the moment, but I don't want to and shouldn't have to buy a fantasia to switch back to my old race because the new one I fantasia'd to was poorly designed on the back end which I had no way of knowing until after the fact when they said so. It certainly doesn't mean I am cool with them being ignored lol. :/

This is not a "problem" that they "need to fix", this a design decision.
They have made it clear that they intend to make more Viera hair and more manes AND faces for Hrothgar. It's gonna take time and we don't know how many they will give or when they will. Given how rare new hair styles come it's not really a wonder that we still haven't seen them yet.

Also, we knew their limits before the game put them in. They released a benchmark ... people sat on their high hare horse thinking that Viera were gonna get all the shared hair in the real game even when the last new race didn't hide hair in the benchmark. We knew about the head gear for a long time to. Most all the talk about hair and manes and head gear happened before release. So you didn't have "no way of knowing" as a Viera.

That's the thing, why would Modern Aesthetic styles be given to them if they make it clear that reg shared hairs aren't? What would make that more likely than some of these plan-jane common shared hairs that look like they could actually work with the ears?

I get it, I also refused to accept that the benchmark was what is was. I thought "Hair styles are even a friggin RL reward for art contest. Noway they wont let people who won the cloud hair use it on these races..". I fooled myself into thinking that the benchmark wasn't complete, that they were still working on hair for release, that maybe Hrothgar would get MORE patterns as it's in their hair tab and that perhaps they would have special patterns that are linked to unlocked hair styles to give them a reason to gain and use the hair styles.

But that was just foolish. There's a quote ... "when someone shows you who they are believe them the first time". There was zero reason to believe that the benchmark wasn't telling the full story. And before the expac even came out there was more than enough questions tossed their way to know that this was the path they were taking. I'm not arguing people weren't overly optimistic, they absolutely were, I'm just saying it wasn't immediately obvious Viera would be stuck with 8 hairstyles for 6 months. It even says when you Fantasia or create a new Viera or Hrothgar "some hairstyles may be unavailable", when it's in fact ALL hairstyles. Imagine if they made a mount some races couldn't use because they didn't have time/resources to make a riding animation?

If they're so strapped for resources I'd like to see them add the hairstyles requested in this thread ONLY to the races they originally appeared on. So Elezen get Ysayle's and Hilda's hair, Au Ra get Yugiri's hair, Midlanders get Yotsuyu's, Hilda's and Lyse's hair. Maybe even throw in Nanamo's hair for Lala's. Everyone else can be patient or buy a Fantasia if you really want access to these hairstyles. We couldn't possibly expect them to rig all these hairs for ALL races right? Except we could, and should ask for exactly that and not throw a few races under the bus because "well you got what you bargained for if you don't like it just Fantasia".

Some people didn't actually think SE would really just not do anything more, and continue to do nothing more for viera going on six months now. Really disappointing.

Just want to add that I still really want these hairs. Also I'm just really sad there seems to be no love for Viera from the developers. Yes I thought Viera would get cross race hairstyles during the benchmark because A I didn't play during heavensward so how should I know what au ra got and B I thought squenix was better. i mean they canned a whole gender from Viera I thought they would at least get the hairs down. We all thought that, or at least I did. I was full of hope, and hype before Shadowbringers. I thought well, if they aren't going to get them at release surely we will get our styles we paid for and stuff soon after, right?

Viera is my favorite race to play, and I would also really like to see more love for them from the devs.. To add, I never actually want to change off of them, and I can work with no hats - that ship has sailed - but like the hairstyles they have to work with when I do a new outfit, or just use my already created glamours has me working with like 2 styles, MAYBE three if I am feeling adventurous. It really just sucks, having no real options.

I don't see how people expecting the new race they were gonna buy a fantasia for to have access to the same hairstyles all of the other previous races have shared puts anyone on a high horse as it is an understanding based in precedents. I didn't play when any previous expansion launched, this expansion is the first one I played right away, so I have no experience with previous benchmarks. I still maintain that it is a problem that they should fix, whether it was intentional by design or not it is still ultimately a poor design decision.

I am glad they are not planning to add any more races to the game if this is such a problem for them now, even though that sucks for people who really want male Viera and female Hrothgar who I think would be cool but if we're going by how the roll out of these new races has gone, those would probably only have 2 faces and 3 hairstyles and that is not a particularly positive level of expectation they should want their players to have based on what they've done before.

I think with some tweaking and people requesting more often, Viera can certainly get access to other races hairstyles. It's ridiculous SE has yet to even update viera or hrothgar currently.

I'm saying that in hide sight it was completely obvious.
Heck, Yoshi even said that they would get new hairs but at a slower rate/ later than the other races ... the first new hair style we got since the release of SHB was from the most recent big patch. So until now you had no reason to expect anything anytime soon seeing as they flat out said you wont get hair as fast as reg races ... unless you trick yourself into thinking they weren't telling the truth about that and "surely we would see new hair before the release of a new hair style for the other races".

Also, your mount example makes no sense so IDK how to take that. Like, if they made a race with 4 legs or something completely different to what we got RN mounts would be 1 of many things they would have to think hard about. But seeing how every race in this game is either a modified Human, tot or Roe there's no problem in making things work on a mount.

Uhh, these hair styles weren't made to work for every race. Hilda's, for example, wouldn't work on cats for the same reason the Form-n-Function hair wouldn't work on Viera. So I'd be fine with them adding that as a race hair for Humans and Elezen.
But then again I much more prefer they just keep making new HQ hairs over re using years old ones from NPCs. *Shrugs

I would love to see more NPC's hairstyles avaiable. You can have Thancred's, Urianger's, Haurchefant's and even Aymeric's hair, so I really do not see a reason why they couldn't add more. I understand the need of making important NPCs unique, but I do not think that many people would create copies of them. They just want that nice and exclusive hairstyle for their characters. And I am among them. The game lacks of nice hairstyles - there are a lot of them, but most of them are just decent.

I was referring to the strange rivalry with Hrothgar. Back then the forums were very open about this and it still can be when the topic comes up. Hrothgar were looked at as a lazy incomplete race ... the red headed step child if you will. "I'm sure Viera will get most of the hairstyles, Hrothgar don't even get options! What a waste to not get Male Viera over them ..." Then the races come out and "The benchmark ... was it? We're also fucked, doom to have only 8 hair styles?"
*Shocked Pikachu Face followed by blaming the connection to Hrothgar for all their problems by some

Since then it comes up with any new big things.
As it stands, all you can do is chill and wait. Hope for the best and all that. No point in really getting worked up about it, the soonest anyone could logically hope for news on the hair and mane and hrothgar face front would be moving froward from NOW seeing as we officially have our first reg hair style released and we were told they would come at a slower pace/ later than the reg hair.

Back to the topic, I again kinda find it funny that people are so hung up on these old NPC hairs when they could just hope for better designed new hairs seeing how much better the devs have gotten at cracking the newer hairs out. But then again I know the types of styles I want will never be added so ehh, lets all dream.

It's odd the only NPC female hair we have is Y'sthola's hairstyle. We do have some added modern aesthetics that seem to be aimed more towards female characters but the most NPC exclusive hairs we do have access to are male related- I would just like a nice balance to that by SE adding accessible versions of Lyse/ Yugiri/ Hilda hair etc.
Lyse's ponytail on anyone would be beautiful. We don't have great access to ponytails or updo's but having a Ponytail such as Lyse or Hilda's OR both would certainly be more than a positive. It would mean SE is really listening.

Those unique hairstyles are part of the NPC's unique model, which is why they don't clip on the NPC, as opposed to being an interchangeable part like player character hairstyles. Even if SE were to create copies of those hairstyles that could be used on player characters, and add the exact same clothing as glamour options for player characters as well so we could use them as a set, we'd still end up with severe clipping issues that players would be complaining about.

Are you really going to be happy if those hairstyles are always clipping? When they're turned into just a skull cap because you want to display your equipped head item and it's design isn't compatible with the hairstyle?

I honestly don't mind clipping, I can always make a glamour around a hairstyle then I'm happy. I know plenty of people who do then complain when they don't have long hair that looks good yet hate clipping- it's annoying. There are some NPC hairs we have & others we do not- having access to all styles would atleast give us a choice- it'd be better than another spikey mullet altleast

Funnily enough the mullets clip with a lot of collared tops or other light headgear.

Anything past shoulder length clips anyway. And most hats and hair clip with weapons worn on the back. (Hell, a lot of bows and quivers clip with themselves!)

For that matter, watch your own gear or even limbs during certain poses and actions. See how many times your arm goes through your face or chest (especially for female characters with larger busts), or shoulder pads go through your head.

Frankly, clipping isn't a good excuse, because everything clips already anyway.

If Viera / Hrothgar continue to have limited hairstyles, I wish they would just make Fran's hairstyle available to us and make Khimari's available for all Hrothgar faces

Would love Fran's hairstyle, I don't really care much about clipping but I would like to be able to disable the helmet because I hate having to design glams around the helmets.

Going to have to question that. Hrothgar were never requested. The idea of bestial races was, but until leaks, another cat race was the very definition, of the last thing on anyone's wish list. This sadly is imo, the result of such a... unique... race being made for the game. Had we not had Hrothgar, Viear as a complete race would have been much more a possibility, that's including hair options and both genders.

Honestly a ton of people have requested Viera for years, and there were a lot of people who wanted to play the "Ronso" race from FF10, which is Hrothgar but they certainly weren't nearly as requested as Viera within NA/EU that is for sure but I also see a ton of people playing Hrothgar so there's a definite demand/audience for them. I do agree that if they hadn't done Hrothgar, it would probably have benefited Viera but honestly when they committed to adding the new races they should have allocated what was necessary to ensure they were on par with the other races in being "complete". I understand the whole "it's expensive in both time and money" thing, but if they're that strapped for resources (which I find hard to believe, considering how much money this game makes) then why do something they were gonna have to cut corners on? It's not a good look.

I agree, emphatically.

Whatever my personal feelings are, SE have placed themselves into a corner. Hrothgar and Viera are here now and fixing the issues with them should be a priority. Clear description of items (modern aesthetics/hair styles) and their use with only certain races before acquisition, clear description of the ramifications of purchasing Fantaisa locking previously earned/ purchased items (modern aesthetics/hair styles), as a start.

At this point i'm willing to begin asking for head slot armor (hair extensions) to circumvent the demand for more hair styles... There is a precedent after all...
