Yeah I read after posting. I edited as basically an "ignore this, I hadn't read the whole thread yet" xD

Solution: You could all move together on Ragnarok.
Im fine with just the nudes.
Lol. If this is serious, then that really sucks considering people asked if this exact thing would happen if they didn't apply their characters to move to any servers and just left it alone, and we never got a response to that (to my knowledge). Also if this is true than I am happy that I assigned all my characters to stay on my server, since I originally was just going to let them sit, assuming it would keep them on Selb... Ridill.
I'm just trying to help a friend. He could of clicked something, but as far as I know he didn't. Cerious doesn't check lodestone or the forums like I do. He message me, on-line, what server I was going to. I told him I was staying on Besaid/Balmung. He said he wish he could. Thus started this whole thing. He was confused to why he moved to another server. He didn't put in an application, because he didn't know how until I told him he could on lodestone.
Cerious is not my alt. He is my raiding buddy and good friend. I posted this threat because I really can't do anything else to help. I'm also getting letters sent to SE for this matter. Why this happened? I'm not sure and I really don't care. I'm helping a friend.
Well in that case it simply sounds like he thinks he had to manually choose the server instead of just sticking with default.
Someone in my LS thought the exact same thing and started saying that they couldn't go to Hyperion (he thought he needed to manually choose it) but it ended up that he just needed to stick with default and was guaranteed a spot instead of manually choosing Hyperion which was full.
Sounds like a complete misunderstanding in that case and should be fine... Unless if they did choose a server to move to in their worry about getting into one.
Umm ok this is where it gets "fishy". If he misclicked a different server, it wouldnt have told him he was randomly selected like you told us.
Maybe your friend is actually a clone of the real one and he was bred for organ harvesting. Now the real one in the outside world had an accident, and he won this "lottery" to jump servers when in fact he's going to get gutted.
anyone?
What it sounds like is he had no idea what the mergers were about
he did no research
and then when he went to "apply" to balmung even though he did not have to, he saw it was closed and clicked on ragnarok(im guessing this is where, forget where you said hes going) since that was the only open choice.
he was not forced to go anywhere, he chose to do so out of pure ignorance
thats the ONLY thing i can think of, he was not randomly selected for any process, he messed up obviously since he failed to read what he was supposed to do
I still wanna see the "congratulations! you've been randomly selected to be moved from server!" email
http://i.imgur.com/mwdmd.png
It's an SE email, or at least styled to be one. This is one of the responses I got from them when I forgot my POL password a couple of years ago.
Now, whether or not this situation is fact or fiction is a completely different question.
Sounds like a missunderstanding to me, he clicked to go on Balmung, but it said he couldnt so either doesnt know where he was going or clicked another one, now he cant move.
He doesnt want to admit his mistake so comes up with a story to blame it on SE (theres alot of that going around) to attempt to get moved back.
There has been no one else with the "being randomly moved" problem so I am 99.999% certain that the problem lies between the chair and keyboard.
i only went to page 3 reading, but don't see this mentioned. you know if you are on one of the servers going to balmung you do not have to select to go there, right? it looks like you were manually trying to select to go there since that's the server you were projected to go to. if that server was full, yes, you wouldn't be able to manually select it, but it should send you there anyways.
double check your profile and see what server you are "set" to join to make sure you aren't going there even though you didn't select it.
There is always the chance that hes not as good of a friend as you think and switched servers and said they made him.
For the sake of argument, I'll say it is Priums' fault. He misunderstood and swapped servers on accident. Does it matter? "The customer is always right" is a common business saying for a reason. If he misunderstood how the system was going down, that is SE's problem.
I've worked customer server and tech support. The customer not understanding how a product or system work is your company's problem. If you do not, as a company, want to make sure the customer is happy with your system, the customer goes somewhere else; your competitor gets your business. Primus could be at 100% fault, still SE's problem. He plays this game for social interaction and to enjoy a SE product. Refusing to help a paying customer, even when it is their fault, to achieve this product's end goals is a fantastic way to lose business. There is a reason every company has customer service phone line, tech support, ect. There is a reason a restaurant will send you free food coupons if you call corporate with an issue.
I'll use myself as an example, I no longer a auto repair chain because of bad customer and tell everyone to not to go them. This was a chain I used for a few years, but one horrible customer service incident and I use their competitor now.
Honestly, not handling this issue with honest to god seriousness is just bad company customer service.
You would be right, Klive, if it was partially the company's fault.
If I go wash my car and they forget to tell me that their new washing machine might destroy the color of my car, they'll act as sorry as possible to keep me from going to court as well as spreading bad publicity about them.
If they repeateadly tell me beforehand "Are you really sure you want to try the new method? It might be harmful to your car." and I STILL decide to do it and the color is destroyed, the company will tell me to take care of my own problems and probably not be so stupid in the future.
That's not bad costumer service; just because you work for other people doesn't mean you have to cater to ever dumb mood they might have and protect them from their own stupidity.
SE stated more than once you don't have to do ANYTHING if you want to stay on your server, the whole application thing is only for people who want to change servers.
If you fail to read all those warnings, every explanation, it's your own fault and SE is not obliged to help. They can't take care of every single costumer's dumbness.
my question is why se even have the default server as an option while picking a server if we didn't need to select it? it just adds to the confusion and things like this can happen. for those of us on the forums that read into the merge method we knew, but the ones that aren't normally active here could have become confused pretty easily.
all it needed was when you went into the screen to have the server you were going to automatically and not let you select that option if you were already headed there and have a page that comes up explaining you were headed there so no further action was needed.
I'm a firm believer that the customer is not always right =P
Regardless I understand it's difficult to put up with that your friend made a mistake, but if SE were to rectify it, then the whole world merger system we have in place would not work. People would abuse it to move around as they please etc.
I don't know what the right answer is, but a lot of responsibility lies with your friend who started clicking around world merger stuff without reading the various literature available or allowing himself to be fully informed. Several posts on lodestone and even an e-mail to subscribers.
It's even spelt our quite clearly on the world merger transfer page. What else would you have asked SE to do?
I hope you somehow reach an amicable situation, as someone suggested, all move to ragnarok?
Lol "Customer always right" is an illusion to make you feel better of your self. Anyone on business know this man. :| But dude, comparing other "customer service" especially in MMO, SE's are by far the least worst man, i've seen more worst than this.
And true that SE should help him with this, and as a "customer" is their job to keep pestering "customer service". But i'm guessing your so-called "friend" is too lazy to chase this problem man, his lost & SE's lost as well.
Anyway you can't really do anything, only your "friend" can do something, and that is to really get in touch with support right away rather then bit**ing about it here.
All the best for you friend to get back at em'.
Seriously coming in here for the sake of complaining is not going to help anyone or anywho. One self knows better what to do. But then thanks for the headsup for the newbies.
Unfortunately I think your wrong.. The customer is not always right. SE made every attempt to communicate the server merger rules and deadlines.. Emails, notices on loadstone, notices before logging in, Notices when logging in. At some point the user needs to take responsibility for themselves.
If the devs/reps at SE decide to make a special allowance for this person...at what point does it stop? The 5th time someone makes a plea on the boards because they neglected to do what a majority of the players in game did and read the instructions provided?
It's a crappy situation and maybe SE should help out, honestly i think handling in a quieter fashion would have gotten better results. Now you have put a microscope on it and they can either stand by their rules or open the flood gates for everyone who made a mistake.
The customer is a person and people are not immune to being wrong. And you guys didn't do yourselves any favors by making up the whole "WAAH SE Singled me out, they are making me transfer even though I did nothing" story. You're just like one of those sleazy customers who tries to return crap at wal mart after they've used it for a month because "It never worked since I first opened it". I hope the manager comes in and calls you on your BS. :|
People have no idea what "The customer is always right" even means
what it basicaly means is DO NOT ARGUE with the customer, do not tell them they are wrong. Its about good customer service in general not just agreeing and going along with what the customer feels he should get.
In this case, there are NO MORE server transfers, the customer messed up, the customer failed to read several posts about what was happening. the customer failed to do several things. It is only the companys job to fix said error if it is within their guidelines to do so. In this case, its not happening because the servers are now closed. He left, and someone else took his spot, they cant take away that persons spot so therefore, the customer must now live with his decision.
It sounds like he THINKS he needs to apply to transfer, but if he's on besaid, then no transfer is needed. He's not eligible to transfer to balmung, because his char is on a server that will become balmung.
Have fun on Ragnarok~
Your friends fault then not SE. Make a petition for lodestone awareness month or join ragnarok.Quote:
He didn't put in an application, because he didn't know how until I told him he could on lodestone.
Didn't put in an application because he did t know how.. So he didn't get in? http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m0...q2j0o2_500.png
So according to your example I could go to a shop, grab a sandwich, packet of crisps, drink and 300 cigs and walk out, when stopped I could say, "But it said they were free" and without saying anything they would allow me to walk out because "the customer is always right".
Don't kid yourself your friend made a mistake dispite several notices its his fauld now either both move to Ragerok or stop pinning blame on SE, its YOUR FRIENDS FAULT he can deal with it, why should SE kick someone off balmung just so your friend that cant even read notices about how the merge will work can have a spot, what makes your friend more important than another PAYING customer
More like leaving your car windows down and getting mad that the car wash ruined your interior
Alas... there is no way only 1 person in the entire game got "Randomly selected" to move
You can't lead with "By no fault of his own he was randomly selected" and then later say "Maybe it was his fault" and expect to be taken seriously
Troll thread is troll
Oh yea..and all is not lost for your functionally retarded (politically correct term?) friend...
He can just reroll after the merge... 2 battle 50's and no crafts above 22... You could PL him back to that point in a week if you're so concerned with his well being
And as an added bonus... This time he can pick a good name

Did the story just change? I thought he said the guy was selected to go to another server accoording to some email. That wasn't about missclicking on the server transfer application page. Can we get the core story about what actually happened straight first please.
is the friend really you
