Healers, It's ok we really do love you!

Highest form of praise I can get as a healer is being given commendations at the end. That said if a RDM or SMN wants to help with rez duties/cure the tank while I'm trying to prevent a wipe I'm not going to be mad. Just don't do it when everything is otherwise in control. I'd rather you focus on your DPS.

That being said, as a healer main who also plays RDM, I can usually tell if a healer can't, or won't heal someone in time, in which I'd throw out a heals as RDM. A dead dps does less damage than a RDM who Vercures during their dualcast :P

This makes 0 sense and I am talking to you as a healing main.

There is only one reason that a Hybrid DPS is forced to heal: people take tons of avoidable damage (b/c the non avoidable stuff in Dungeons is, again, beyond pathetically low). If I am GCD capped and cannot save rear ends of incompetent people, I welcome DPS players with situational awareness and the willingness to sacrifice DPS in order to save a team mate with open arms.

I have no love for healers then I do anyone else really. Hell I have more love for monks and other DPS since we're always the butt of every joke ever. Healers and tanks get babied too much in my opinion. But eh what do I know. On the topic at hand tho, who gets mad at a " good job" Seriously? Have people gotten THAT thin skinned? If they get offended about something like that then I don't even know. Tho text is odd tho since you can't read emotions but I've never seen someone say that sarcasticly before. I HAVE seen people just be flat out dicks. So whenever I say Good job I mean it. Tho with the amount of judgey and bad healers I've seen on both my monk AND breako... me sayign good job to any healer is RARE at best.

While i love being praise sometime it just feel like the one who praise me feel they are superior than me... which make me feel annoyed more than happy

I've had a few instances where I've had healers caught in a mechanic with the tank also near-death where I've decided to pop a Vercure off my Jolt on the perceived most beneficial target just to guarantee some safety. It's never meant as a sleight or me trying to do their job, I'm just trying to make sure things don't end in a wipe. If it makes me a jerk because the mob could've died 2s sooner or whatever, then so be it.

Actually, in my experience, the most frequent reason for this is that the healer is too overzealous with DPSing and therefore doesn't start healing the tank when they should.

That or they ARE healspamming the tank but it just isn't keeping up with the damage the tank is taking.

The thing is, many people who play healers would love more tools to do outside of just healing, more DPS options, more buffs... practically anything, really. The fact that whenever we ask for these things we get post after post of knowing our place--- "heal0rz are suppuz'd to heal yo.", but when the DPS and tanks are allowed to heal... well, we're just helping you out right? SE is so oblivious to this it hurts and comments like this kind of rub that right in our face. So yeah, I can understand why some healers aren't too happy with comments like that.

In FFXIV, healers have been taken for granted at best, and have been otherwise ignored by the dev team. Tanks, on the other hand... the devs love their tanks. As for comments saying "good job" being sacrastic? Yeah, I've seen it quite a bit. Dragoon dies to AoE marker after evasive jumping, "lol good job drg." I've seen some thrown at red mages who jump themselves off of the platforms too. While I don't make comments like this, I have seen them before. So... maybe the community around your server just haven't used it that way.

Well, I mean, if you didn't just do something obviously and/or mind-bogglingly stupid, and someone tells you "good job", why is it so difficult for people to assume the comment might be genuine?

I wouldn't be angry at that, personally, but the "we've got your back" comment or "I'll help you heal" might annoy me slightly. Though, my response would prolly be, "If you can do something to make my job easier, I'll let you know. But until then, I think I can handle it, thanks."

Keep in mind, this is probably coming from someone I don't know in a dungeon that I've randomly queued up for. The person offering may be perfectly sincere in their offer, but they are also questioning my ability to do my job by offering it. Think about it. Do you normally think about walking up to some super buff guy carrying 5 loaded bags to his car on his own? Or do you think to yourself, "damn he's got that handled." What about that elderly woman who is clearly struggling with the load she has? Why are they assuming I can't handle my job without first seeing how I handle the load?

I hate it when Red Mages heal instead of doing their job because it ruins my fun. There is only so much damage to be healed and if you're handling a part of that, what am I supposed to do as a healer? Worse dps than you could be doing with a boring rotation? Just stop. It's not helpful if no one has died yet.

Sometimes it's best to say nothing at all.

I just started healing when SHB started and it seems everyone mass pulls in every dungeon even if its low level or not and don't even ask. I swear if your HP bar drops to like 10 percent 1 sec after a full heal top off maybe you should slow down..The other things that makes me not like doing it is people who I insta raise after they die not getting up and just laying there when we need the DPS like they can just sit the rest of the fight out. I told someone to get up during a fight and they are like "Jeeeze take it easy" and because it was their little gang of I imagine FC members I qued into they vote kicked me.

Those tender feelings.

Umm that is why i stated i heal the tank while healer is getting back up, i do not sit there healing with Vercure, lol

Honestly, when I get groups like that (isn't often, like less than once per year on average in my experience, but it does happen)....I'd almost prefer that they just kicked me. My queue is instant, and odds are VERY likely that I'll get a much better group while they're still waiting for a replacement for me.

You know that some people delay accepting a raise in order to avoid promptly dying to an to an upcoming long/chaotic aoe phase or strong unavoidable party/raid wide aoe blast, right? As they don't always know where the raise was cast from and takes a sec to get bearings and in control of character again.

Now if they stay down the rest of the fight entirely, thats a different story.

That super buff guy may still appreciate the help, as I'm sure he's used to people just assuming he doesn't need any and people tend to appreciate random acts of kindness and other displays of consideration. They can really brighten someone's day.

Some people .... ugh.

I main a WHM and I've never been complimented when keeping the crappy tank alive, or saving people. /shrug I get more "thanks" in Warframe helping a person up ><

And that's ok. I want to heal, and I know I'm helping. Though compliments are nice, I don't need them to continue doing my job. :D

For the record...

I, as a tank, welcome our healing overlords. Without which I would be a red smear on the ground.

I tend to ignore most comments like these because I mostly see them when nothing special happened in the dungeon. I think to myself, "Nice job? really? Nothing happened and it was a boring run."

Now those times where both dps and tank die because they have 4+ stacks of vulnerability and get 1 shot then I manage to raise them all up and we kill the boss... yeah I never get a "nice job" on those. I'm pretty sure at least one of the 3 are thinking to themselves, "man this healer sucks, they aren't getting my comm"

A bit late, but I'll reply to this.

WHM, from my experience, does heal a lot like its earlier iteration. It's by far in the best state of any healer right now.

SCH:

- Had one of our two fairies functionally removed (you can still summon her, but all her abilities are now identical to the other fairy)
- Lost our ability to cast Aetherflow outside of combat, so suddenly pressing aetherflow before the last mob dies becomes a concern
- Had our damage options reduced from 9 to 4 (and yes, I know we're healers, not dps, but a) we have to do quest content, too, and a two button spam isn't engaging and b) if you expect healers to dps (or plan to give them downtime in which there's nothing better to do) it would be nice if it was even vaguely interesting)
- Lost our ability to spend our Aetherflow on anything other than healing, which removes a risk/reward calculation that used to be very satisfying. This also means that if people aren't taking much damage (and there are many situations you can get through on fairy heals, except at the top end of content) you often end up sitting on on stacks when aetherflow comes off cooldown, and are presented on a choice of which resource to waste: stacks or the mp from aetherflow
- Loses 5 abilities upon first equipping their job stone. And gains one new ability in return. The abilities lost include the one which is picked up just one quest before at the same level. Which just feels like a slap in the face for new SCHs.

The dps complaints in particular might seem like things that were already true of WHM, but at least WHM can weave in assize (it currently has 6 dps abilities to SCH's 5, and one of SCH's is an apply it and forget it buff on a 2 minute cooldown), and they get the risk/reward decision we lost in aetherflow in deciding whether to use tools like Presence of Mind for healing or dpsing.

I haven't played AST since the expansion. I loved the old card system, and am not looking forward to trying the new AST. From what I've read in the healer forums, apart from the divisive card changes, ASTs have considerably lower healing potencies than the other healers, and their buffs are underwhelming when compared to WHM personal dps in terms of rdps contribution. The changes to how cards are drawn and used feel clunky and overall the class feels like a lot more effort for less effect than the other healers.
