It's coming, he didn't say Dancer was the last job. I don't get why everyone is assuming it is.

Guys i can understand no new healer announced this time. But when they showed Gaia Yoshi talked alot about how they can make the hammer work so possibly a new healer they might spring at the last few months before release.
Personally i was hoping for dnc healer to go with the new Gunbreaker but either way dont just give up hope yet because Yoshi hides too much in what he says.
Anyway heres to hoping for a hammer healer for all you healer mains who keep tanks like me alive.
Posted this in a couple more threads.
Holding out hope for all you healers being a tank main myself.
Healers adapt... to playing DPS or Tank in 5.0
If we don't get a new healing job I might just drop the role entirely in disinterest barring few exceptions.
I’m like 90% sure that the reason we didn’t get a healer this expansion either is all because of blue mage, which annoys the heck out of me cuz I didn’t even want the job in the first place. My guess is that a lot of development time went into blue mage while they were working on Dancer and Gunbreaker so they didn’t have much more time before the expansion to develop a healer. So this we were left behind again...
I hope you and others who are staying positive are correct. But I don't think this is gonna happen. I'm just gonna reroll as a drg for ShB. I love sch but I've played it since arr and ast didnt exactly clense my pallet as its either sch lite or whm lite when it comes to healing. A new healer would have been a chance to break that. Who knows. Maybe we will all be jumping for joy by the end of the weekend.
If a new healer is not ready on launch of Shadowbringers, they wont release one till the next expansion. Why? Raid tuning and balancing. It would cause a massive mess if they did a mid expansion job release. They have already said that they are fairly set in their ways when it comes to development cycles and scheduling. They like their schedule so I am expecting that the healer will be the last job they will introduce and then no longer add new jobs because it is getting too complex to balance them all. I hope I am wrong, I want to be wrong, prove me wrong... please.
I feel as though they need to fix the current healer mess but I doubt they will just outright drop the idea of adding a new healer.
If so then I can see them doing some heavy changes to the current healers making it seem as though a new expierence.
Depends on the utility and damage of the dnc. Also, the chakrams appear to be slashing damage so assuming we keep weapon type debuffs in place this COULD result in some party changes. A brd or mch is basically tied to having drg to do full damage right? If dnc is slashing then it could actually be in a better position since it can have it's debuff provided by samurai, warrior, or ninja. It could potentially replace brd/mch in parties depending on what it's job specific utilities are and if role skills stay the same.
But that tiniest of (im)balancing gimmicks isn't going to make up for a poor connection to job aesthetic. We have a quick, lithe, poised job that has traditionally been of hybrid range and capable of weaving through battles and instead we make sure it has no reason ever to dodge, does not weave through battles, and can instead simply turret from range however it likes...
I do agree with you that putting it as a ranged physical dps was definitely an odd choice and probably the last thing I would have ever expected. But you know, now that you bring up the idea of weaving through battles, part of me was just thinking it's a shame they added the jump in, melee combo, and jump out thing to rdm. That would have been perfect for the dancer instead.
But looking at it purely from a gameplay/numbers perspective, I still think it could potentially replace brd as the go to physical dps in a party comp. Bad aesthetics aside.
He also said that one of his live letters before the expansion drops was going to be a big one.
Again I'm holding onto some small ray of light we're still getting a new healer but they're waiting for the last possible moment to say "Look here guys a new hammer healer for you to play as" effectively giving everyone the hammer job they wanted and a new healer.
And how much has that made RDM feel like anything but a caster? Sure they have to spend 1.5 GCDs in melee range to get their Foul-equivalent off, but -- at least to me it -- doesn't feel notably different from BLM whatsoever. SMN feels far more unique just through its phasing than RDM remotely does through its bits of melee. RDM feels a tiny bit more unique in AoE, but still not much.
Those aspects aren't something you can just toss in somewhere into the rotation and expect to reap an identity therefrom or therewith.
Been thinking, what if it's an Oracle?
Sure because making pissed off players wait for an announcement is such a great idea (for the small but unlikely chance they are adding a healer)
This is actually a pretty good question since it's one of the only potential jobs that Yoshi himself stated had been in the works, stating a desire for an Eastern-themed spellcaster for Stormblood in at least two separate interviews.
Then again, the biggest hurdle to a new healer (or just another job at this point) is that it would mean devs having to have done something they haven't done since Heavensward and something they said they never wanted to do again: work on four new jobs simultaneously, because the timetable would mean Blue Mage would've been in the schedule along with other new jobs. Maybe they have something different going for them than they did four years ago--streamlined job process, more devs or resources, I'm not sure--but the work required to make a new job in addition to all the other work they've done and are still doing would be the biggest hurdle to it.
Frankly, not having a new healer is going to make the other three healers much better. Rather than having a whole new job to gut abilities from the current healers, there will likely be a significant rework done on all three along with some great new impactful skills 71->80 that could change the way healers are played. This sounds a lot more enticing than yet another healer that will likely play like one of the others but with a different skin.
The tanks are probably going to suffer from most of the "cool new ideas" all being put on Gunbreaker while one or two of the current tanks will likely suffer another major identity crisis.
This was supposed to be the case with Stormblood as well, but that didn't really pan out, despite us not getting a new healer. Honestly, having four tanks might make designing them easier in a sense. They could divide the role into sub categories: two off-tanks and two main tanks.
Healers already feel like the least varied role in terms of both playstyle and class aesthetics to me. Even if we did get a major playstyle shakeup (doubtful after Stormblood), the aesthetics are still all similar (robes, lilies, sparkles, butterflies, bright lights). Whereas, tanks have a dark theme, a light theme, a traditional warrior and a tech focused tank coming in ShB.
That's incredibly optimistic. I would hope a new healer job gets added in 2 years time.
However, there is still the hilariously high chance they'll just add another melee dps. I've seen people look at Gaia and thinking "Maybe they are hinting at a new healer" but really that's probably a hammer wielding dps.
There wont be a new healer. SE and Yoshida has always been very forward when it came to adding new classes. If there was no mention of a healer, then there wont be a new healer in 5.0, atleast not for the first 2-3 patches. Just like with the male Viera, they did not talk about it, because they were not going to add them in.
They will not announce a healer for 5.0 launch.
That's exactly what I believe, and that's why I'm mad about their choice. I mean, everything else from ShB seems so awesome, and my hype for that is here, but, they had to skip my main role again. And if they don't make something awesome at 5.0 launch for healer - like mount for every healing jobs, like the tanks have, that will motivate me to play healer - I think that I will simply stop healing. And I bet that I won't be alone, and the df queue will probably have trouble to find healers, making them longer for dps... There is no reason to play the same thing for over 4 years, we also want new jobs... And, that's just my opinion, but I've always found healing more challenging and more fun than simply DPSing or Tanking, as you have to maximise your DPS while keeping your team alive and dodging things. It's just more my playstyle, and I could wait an expansion to get a new job, but not 2. I just hope that I'll find something else that I like to play, I'm bored of the 3 actual jobs and needed some change after 4 years..
Don't need any new tanks or healers actually. Need to just rebalance what counts as a Light Party. Then DPS ques will be less costly when a light party is 5 instead of 4. That's 3 Dps, 1 tank, 1 healer. Then just buff the amount of HP on trash/boss. In terms of balance this work out fine. However would still like them to add a healer job just cus they added a extra tank.
The issue with a new healer is that FFXIVs underlying healer design is just poor:
Every Healer has the base toolkit: Two differently strong single-target heals, a caster centered AoE heal, and some HoT.
Then come the abilties, which are the same for everyone: (several) big instant ST heals, (several) big AoE heals, damage mitigation, damage support (for AST/SCH).
As far as DPS is cornced, with the removal of cleric stance in 4.0, they've all been pretty much dumped down to: DoTs up, spam ST cast.
Even the Class Gauges hardly do anything: Lilies are a 20% CD reduction at 3 stacks - woho, Fairy Gauge is a stronger HoT that allows for more "fun" DPS time, and AST is just a visualization of their group buffs.
A new healer is absolutely pointless with the state the current healers are in. You first have to fix all three current healers before bringing a new one. Though that's very unlikely to happen.
Well there is the E3 left after before shadow bringer so maybe
For me it’s either quit the game or swap from healer main to dancer main. Considering I like my fc too much and I’m picky when it comes to games, looks like I’m going dps. I’ll level the healers just for the sole purpose of raiding (since I’m stuck in the healer slot in my raid group), but everything outside of raids will be all about dancer.
I don’t care if “it made more sense for dnc to be dps”. I don’t. Care. I dreamt of it being healer. The possibility of it adding such a change to healing was extremely attractive to me, since the current healers are far too similar. My fc had a viewing party in discord. When I saw dancer I was literally screaming and bouncing in excitement, and to have that excitement quickly turn to anger, devastation, and utter disappointment was a terrible feeling. My hype for the expansion was gone, especially after the “THE two jobs for ShB are gunbreaker and dancer” bit. I don’t believe it’s mistranslating.
Not getting a new healer is crap, I don’t care if you support it. Tanks are just as bad as healers in balance. Honestly I’m tired of hearing “delete drk”. Why is it tanks get a new shiny, dps keep getting shinies expansion after expansion and healers are the ones shafted? The thought of having to wait 6 years to POSSIBLY get another healer makes my blood boil. Instead of wasting resources on the mistake that is blu, a healer should’ve been created instead, that way tanks/healers/ranged all got new shinies. I’m tired of the same cookie cutter healers. Balance is the dumbest excuse. They couldn’t get it right through all of HW. They didn’t give us anything in SB so they could “focus on balance” and yet again failed through the whole expansion. They aren’t going to get it right, and we shouldn’t get shafted because the devs can’t balance their classes right. Shoot, dps aren’t even balanced, yet they keep pumping those out like no other. Screw the balance bs. We deserve something new as well. We’ve been waiting just as long as ranged have.
Maybe a Timemage healer since we are going to the past, someone need to send us there. Like the guy with the crystal hand at the top of the crystal tower talking about the need of changing the history.
