Japp its nice if you know people on a server thats gonna end up on a different datacenter. Nice job SE.
Can we please not put all the raiders on one EU datacenter and the rest on the other? I really don't want to leave my server, but I also want to raid, and that will be awfully difficult if you just rip me of all the people I can reasonably raid with! Just split it down the middle, damn it!
Oh, and MUCH THANKS for ripping half my off-world friends away from me, as well as destroying several statics I know. Good job, SE, really good job.
Kinda sad. All my friends moved to Zalera a while back while I remained on Faerie. Now we will be split permanently.
I'm a bit surprised at the number of people acting shocked over this. It's the same sort of reaction that the lockdown of Balmung and Gilgamesh prompted, even though both were/are totally necessary. This has been a long time coming. They've been trying to encourage people to move off of congested worlds for years now, gently at first and with ever increasing force. Something had to give and it appears that this is the moment.
I know when things were really bad at the start of SB that there was even speculation that the over loaded worlds might get forcibly torn right in half. I guess we should just be glad they decided to go with something a little less extreme.
Seems I'm gonna have two high level alts stuck on crystal but will probably move one of them to Aether once free transfers open up. Mostly my alt on Zalera as buying stuff from the MB been a horrible experience for me.
Necessary because they're too incompetent not to put an instance ten quests into the MSQ or make servers that can handle a decent load? Regardless, this is entirely pointless since people are already saying they're moving right back. Balmung's shout chat is littered with people saying they're going to transfer. And virtually every raid group, casual to hardcore, is either leaving or discussing it. So all this will accomplish is Gilgamesh being the new Balmung in terms of population while Jevona, Cactuar and Sarg are all the secondary raid options. Crystal, meanwhile, will have a near dead PF.
What are they going to do, lock all of Aether and force people onto Crystal? That's a genius way to kill your game.
This is awful. Myself and one other static member are on Coeurl, and another is on Zalera. But the rest are on Sarg, Faerie and Adamantoise. So some of us are going to have to leave behind our FCs and houses just to keep the static together.
I knew something like this would happen one day. I usually didn't make friends across servers as a result of being a veteran of lots of MMOs that ended up server merging and shuffling. Those of you who have close friends cross server and are losing them, I feel your pain.
Hmm, well here's my thoughts:
Personally: Not affected, I'm from Balmung so my best friend from Goblin is still with me.
My boyfriends character who's like level 7, is in Gilgamesh but he said he'd move over to me
once Balmung is open...someday. My friends that went Mateus is still with me so I'm okay there.
I'm not surprised Balmung and Gilgamesh went ahead and split. Aether two of the biggest servers and Mateus incoming.
Balmung people: We just lost our raider friends (seeing as Gilgamesh was the biggest raid server)
so that sucks. Mateus is still with us so the RP side is still okay.
As a whole: People either are screwed static wise, friend wise and other stuff.
I hope people take the time now to decide their course of action until then. :/
Kinda sucks it had to happen.
O12 Clears per Server:
Chaos:221
Cerb:70
Louisaisuuax: 8
FrenchServer: 28
Omega: 7
Ragna: 108
---------------------
Light:186
Lich: 12
Odin: 57
Phoenix: 54
Shiva: 41
Zodiark: 22

Odin would rank fourth in Chaos for O12S clears. Great distribution. SE showing once again they are clueless. Also crafters will migrate to heavy raiding datacentres. Seems like SE really thought this through. Shocking stuff. Inexcusable.
Because fostering a new community is incredibly difficult and time consuming. People who want to raid, want to be apart of a existing community. They don't necessarily want to have to scratch. Unlike the issues with Balmung, where you could at least play with people who stayed if elected to move to Mateus. This is forcing people to choose between their statics or their friends. A handful of friends of mine literally have to start over or lose friends. And how you're saying "Go foster a new community!"
How about SE not be incompetent? This self fulfilling prophecy is on SE, not the community.
I'd rather have another Rocky Expansion Launch and have a nice Pool of Players to raid/do Content with in the following two years than this.
In a perfect world everyone will do as you say, this is not said perfect world. Many servers saw mass transfers during the first half of heavensward due to raids, people aren't gonna stick around to create a new raid community in Crystal, they will move to where Gilgamesh or Leviathan are.
Not happy with this.
Pretty much lost my static and now PF is basically gonna be dead because the all the servers on the new aether were the ones in PF for battle content the most.
Crystal is the RP DC now though. So guess that's good for some...Full of lv1 alts :T
North America:
2 Data Centers, 13 and 11 Servers.
Europe:
1 Data Center with 10 Servers.
Japan:
3 Data Centers, 10 / 11 / 11 Servers.
So WHY is it okay for JP to have 11 Servers per Data Center but Europe needs to be split with only 10?
like ???????????
I am not leaving my FC, Friends and my House behind and neither do we expect him to do that. It sucks that we even have to choose between our friend groups
Not happy about this at all, because being on the new Balmung data center, I'm losing basically all of my cross-server friends as they are all staying on actual Aether. And the few that will still be moving to Crystal are already talking about leaving, because the Crystal raiding zone will be deader than dead. Many people I know are getting their statics broken up by this. I feel really shitty having to choose between my servers and having a house here versus duty playability and my cross-server friends.
The problem is not that they split servers, the problem is HOW are they splitting them, it's like they didn't think at all how to do it. I don't know about the NA data centert but at least in Europe the big worlds are all together now in Chaos and the Small worlds all together on Light, what does this means? Light is gonna have lower queues, less PF movement, less people, less raiding.... and people on future Light DC server is already planning on moving to Chaos DC, so it's gonna be even more empty.
The new DC is not out yet and they already killed it!
Unpopular opinion, I think this is a good thing. It was a necessary evil to spread the player base out more and to prevent certain servers from being essentially the main hubs in a given data center.
Okay this might be a good reason for the Trust system to be implemented. Queue times gonna be horrible on Crystal.
That's what the world Visit system is for. To distribute Population across the Servers. This here is insane.
Questions : Are the data center still all West coast or they plan to move one Central or east?
This is very concerning specifically for EU players. I don't know what numbers the devs are looking at, but practically, Chaos DC PF has been... less than stellar. Much fewer parties that JP or even NA players would see on their PFs, much worse success. Pugging on EU is a nightmare. It honestly doens't feel like the practical pool of EU endgame players is big at all. By making this split, the risk of PF dying out even more is very high. While it isn't impossible that population will eventually even itself out, it's just as likely that all the skilled and networked players would agree to join together on Chaos, leaving Light in the dust, or vice versa. I understand that this is being done to avoid another situation like Raubahn bottleneck at 4.0 launch, but I don't think long-lasting implications are being properly considered.
Why not just getting some better servers instead splitting community?
Having 4-5 popular servers on a data center is better than having only two. It still succeeds at doing it's job ultimately which was mostly to disburse Balmung since the preferred world transfer incentives were not working.
They however knew that some servers would be horribly damaged which is why they implemented visiting.
T-T I'm kinda sadden by this I'm going to lose my Raid team because of this.
Please also note: 2 week process with Free Server transfers that have a 999,999,999 gil limit, 100% housing/apartment reimbursement with 3 mil for house furnishings and 500k for apartment furnishings.
I thought people were asking for an RP - data center for a while now. This is that opportunity.
Also, they are adding server swaps with max gil enabled so it's not much of a loss for statics to say OK let's switch if they are really dedicated to that group over a course of 2 years or so.\
get full refund on houses etc/
/shrug I like free server transfers.
