I'm pretty sure the roles worse off are tanks and healers, those are the roles people mainly use as alt jobs, and now everyone will be rolling on tank/healer gear.

I'm pretty sure the roles worse off are tanks and healers, those are the roles people mainly use as alt jobs, and now everyone will be rolling on tank/healer gear.
Also, now that people don't have to play tank/healer to get tank/healer gear, they'll just queue as DPS. (Yes, not everybody goes to dungeons on dps, some people main tanks/healers. Not a majority.)
Sooo.... longer queues for dps waiting on tanks and healers, now!
So now I never have a reason to enter one of those ever again after the story run. My luck even with need tends to be sometimes in the 2 months range... of doing it once per day... With greed... that just changes to never...
Worst idea ever - just so that some crybabies can roll on the loot that they would actually put some work in - instead of afking and watching netflix.
The irony is they've now made it significantly harder for tanks who actually want the gear because all the raiders playing their DPS alts can roll on it for glamour. It's an incredibly shortsighted change that benefits no one except people who want gear for a job they won't play.
I hope they don't do this, this is really going to ruin the alliance raids. Not only do we deal with the right body piece and rng but now we have to worry about rng with 8 other people. This is a bad decision. It's ok on Omega because the fight takes 10 minutes but alliance raids take almost 1 hour the first few months.
I also believe All Greed is bad. RNGesus is bad enough but now if I'm on BLM and Need the caster body i have to compete with a Tank for it? Really? Having to compete with other casters in Need is meh enough. The process to acquire the pieces you want is now going to be even slower, plus we STILL have a weekly loot lockout...what in Altena's name were they thinking?
This is a terrible change that will only make it harder to get gear and cause more animosity between players. Unless there is more we don't know, like if every chest is going to drop 8 items per party at once from now on. Although even then it'd probably somehow just be 8 belts half the time...
Super bad idea. For many reasons, already stated by other users. I hope SE don't implement this crap.
lol This is a stupid idea.
If they indeed implement this change I won't be ever running 24-man raids more than once a week for the coin on reset day.
I am sure a lot of other people will do that as well, and since leveling players queueing for alliance roulette will never end up in SB raids queues can possibly get very nasty if you wait too long to do it after the weekly reset.
I’m very opposed to this. If you want a piece of gear, you should roll the job the piece of gear is for. Why make it harder for people that main a certain job and are actually seeking to gear it up (for those who don’t do Savage) for Jimmy that wants tank gear...but doesn’t want to actually play his tanks?
Another bad idea. Greed only, no. Just NO.
It's probably because they think they're giving it longevity, since it'll be 10x harder to be sure you get your piece every week. How hard is it for them to realise that forcing people into repeating the same thing ad nauseam is the surest way to burn them out even faster than it already does? Especially given how resentful we'll be after we've lost a piece we need 5-10 times to somebody who "just likes how it looks" or "wants it for when their [class] gets to 70".
I don't resent when other folks of my class get my item (even if they didn't need it.) I will resent this.
Just chiming in to say this is dumb. Doesn't solve any issue with loot dropping to the ground because of the weekly cap. And makes the already tedious glam farm just not even worth it.
Oh I want that Tank piece.. hops on my DRK, oh want that Caster piece hops on RDM, I want that Sam piece hops on Sa.. for real this is dumbest thing ever if you're not good enough/think you're not good enough on said class you want gear for then you really don't need said gear just so you can afk in city states in said gear on class you don't play in relevant content. Why should I lose my guarantee shot at a gear piece if I'm only one on a class for that gear drop & then also fact that people roll for gear they don't even have the class leveled for will they block people who don't have a 70 of that class of course not.
This is just all around horrible idea.
This change is beyond stupid as far as any change can be in this game.
I made an alt on Gilgamesh a good month and a half ago or so and I used Rabanastre to get it geared up properly once it hit 70. How much harder do you think it would have been to gear up properly if, not only do you have to wait for the actual gear to drop, but ANYONE can simply roll greed on it and deny me it, eh square enix?
And we can forget even trying to collect the sets for glamour now.
This change puzzles me. I can't see the gain in making all loot rolls be greed. This is only going to annoy players. This helps no one.
I hope this gets discarded before patch goes live. This is a fine contender for most awful and unfair idea in the game ever.
Why would you assume that there will still be the same amount of tanks queuing in when they could just go in as whatever job has the lower waiting time?
And also, why would you expect that you'll constantly be rolling for the exact same gear as 7 other players? This will almost never happen. At most you'll maybe roll against two or three people if you are unlucky, which is something that can occur already. (Which is also the reason why I suggested to increase the number of drops in each chest.)
Because this isn't the first 24 man we've ever got. When wiping city came out you still had to do void ark for tokens, tank queues were still bad.
When DS came out you still had to do ark and city, tank queues were still bad, all despite you being able to go as any job.
I don't think it is that important a change, to be honest. But also don't see the utility of it. First I understood it was for the alliance raid roulette. There most people don't care about the gear and pass, I usually greed for the seals or desynth and many times i get the gear. If it is about all alliance raids, I usually go with a job for which I want the drop (not the main job), the change would mean I can go whatever job and hope for luck, I also hope for luck now and many times greed any gear I don't have so that I don't have to repeat the raid for the weekly piece of gear.
So I don't know if it is better or not, it might be better if you don't have a fixation for some special gear. You choose any class you want and cross your fingers for luck, greed in any things you fancy, or greed everything if you want a loot and not repeat the instance for one week. Everybody wants the big pieces like body and legs and leaves the smaller ones, especially the belts, when there is a weekly one piece loot.
Absolutely horrible idea. There is NO benefit to this change and all it's going to do is make the 24 man experience even worse.
I don't understand why the dev team fails to understand things like this.
I can say as a healer main if I have to carry as hard in Ridoranna as I did in Rabanastre I am not going to be very forthcoming with heals and raises for a mostly dead person who outrolls me on healer/caster gear but doesn't have one leveled.
I don't play this game to hand other peoole rewards. I get that in group content, especially as a support role, that is a thing that I will wind up doing but if someone plans on rolling for healer stuff and hasn't even gotten them to 70... I hope your Second Wind crits a lot. I will be over here healing people not abusing a broken system.
Just like many people on here ... I don't get the idea behind this. If it is to get more people healing or tanking because they can roll on whatever loot anyway ... might as well go DPS in those raids and avoid the hassle as I can still get the healer loot anyway :/
Putting my vote against this change, too. Will most certainly skip this cycle of 24-man if this rule is implemented.
Oh joy I cant wait until we have to wait for more people after every boss because people couldnt need on the piece they wanted and left.
I don't understand what problem this is meant to solve. Like, doing this on the card/orchestron drops? Sure. People wind up needing those anyway because it doesn't make sense to do anything else, so making those have a single option will just help newbies who don't realize they shouldn't greed it. That change would make sense.
But on gear? Why? Just... WHY? Without any rationale into what they're thinking in doing this, it's utterly baffling and seems like someone making arbitrary changes just to screw with us.
Yea as a healer I have to say I feel similar. I often have to carry people in 24 mans but at least if healer loot drops there's a really good chance I'll get it. With all rolls being greed, I might end up only doing the 24 man for the weekly coins and just forget about the gear unless I can get a full fc group.
Current situation:
- Tanks have to roll against 0 other player.
- Healers have to roll against 1 other player.
- DPS roll against 0 to 4 other players depending on what other jobs are in the party. DRG and NIN need to be matched with the exact same job for that to happen, while caster DPS share gear with 2 other jobs which increase the chances of them getting matched with a player who can compete with them.
New situation:
- The number of people you roll against only depend on what people want to roll on, regardless of jobs/roles.
And contrary to what some people are saying, rolling against the full 7 other players for a specific piece of gear will be very rare.
That's the only thing I see that get solved with this new system.
I'm not saying if this is good or bad. I'm just giving an objective reason as to what that new system does compared to the current one.
(If I don't bold this, people tend to think that I'm in favor of that change.)
I have a wonderful idea that they could have applied earlier to boost their chance of getting gear for a job. Play the job.
Seriously, the item level requirements are bare bones tiny. I had a RDM once in Rabanastre that was still in basically their full artifact 290 set, with some 300 accessories, and it let them in. They had the item level. They didn't have the HP to survive any mechanics, but they had the item level.
So is they can get in with such a low amount, why can't others? Why do I gotta roll with someone who might not even have that role leveled up, just because he didn't like what I did and wants to screw me out of the chest I ran 15 times to see?
I got nasty slurs thrown at me in Rabanastre on my BRD for taking a bard piece, from a WHM who really wanted it for their level 34 bard. They didn't have MCH either, not even unlocked.
So don't tell me they don't exist. That rest of the run was terrible since only the SCH would actually heal me, the WHM ignored me outside of aoe spells.
Exactly. Not everyone will suddenly stop tanking and since its only three tanks for the whole alliance you would still have enough wait time..yet now they might not get the tank gear if it drops.
Glamour? Use for later when they may (or may not ) need it. I mean if you dont want to run this often per week some might just roll on something to get it. Even if its just something for a job that is not really used that much.
And it will get worse for those that want it for glamour later and the weekly lock out is removed..
